It had been a few weeks since she last visited the shrine. Sealing, her new source of entertainment and continuous confusion. Nine had been following exactly the same instruction as written in the Fuinjutsu introduction book, but the results were bust. There was no problem with her calligraphy, she was usually running a cursive scripts in which she minimally separated her strokes and characters so they would flow together into a continuous movement.
Most of the books mentioned that sealing effectiveness was largely affected by the sealer own understanding of said sealing formula. One formula that worked for other people didn't always mean that it would work for her. She decided to abandon the books then started from scratch based on her own understanding regarding seal works, which was… pathetically little.
She started with the safest seal to tinker with, storage seal. It was not like her previous seals didn't work, it worked but only if she stored non-organic material such as a weapon, the moment she tried to store some foods inside then unsealed after several days waiting, the results were bunch of rotting foods. So, in order to improve her quality of life she decided to imbued 'time stop' aspect into the sealing matrices, it produced rather underwhelming results.
After several days of brainstorming, Nine finally decided to simply imbued her intent with the chakra from this body. She fully expecting a volatile result in which her power might consume her chakra. Rather than her previously thought result, two of the energy sources combine then embedded themselves into the matrices. Nine thought that whatever the result would be, it wouldn't matter.
After several days of waiting, she unsealed her previously stored food. The result was very good, she wouldn't claim mastery over Fuinjutsu when she directly used her power to manipulate the produced effects but this sealing techniques would probably became her cover when she directly use her ability in the public eyes and to avoid questioning because of its flexibility. You can almost make anything into Fuinjutsu techniques.
'So in the end, you only was interested in Fuinjutsu for the sake of providing a cover for you?' Sasuke doubtfully asked her, he previously believed that she had a genuine interest towards this topic only to be disappointed.
'Of course, what else? If I can almost make everything in the world follow my will, why would I bother myself to learn about this technique?' She divulged a little bit, Nine determined that Sasuke must already formed some opinions regarding the nature of her ability.
'How the world would follow your will?' He directly asked her since she was the one that started this discussion.
'It is a matter of probability, the more probable something of happening, the easier is it for me to manipulate. Like that paint incident, there is a probability in which the paint will fall then directly and drenched one of the statue of Hokage's face, and then I directly manipulate it to make the cans of paint fall and make it so that all of the four Hokage's face drenched with it.' This was not the exact explanation but it would suffice for the time being.
Sasuke digested my words for a little while then asked about a case, 'So, if you want to kill someone, you can directly thought about it then they would inexplicably die?' Well, this was an interesting question.
'Hm, my power was limited here. I can use this ability do almost anything that didn't interfere with people destiny or what they're meant to be. Perhaps I could create some bad luck for them then use said bad luck to finished that said person personally or let other people do the finishing job. But I can't directly kill people of using this ability, at least when I'm still being confined in a mortal flesh.' This was the truth, she could probably be a jinx to other people if she wanted to, but there was no reason to do such nonsensical things.
'Do you have another reason for your limitation aside from your current body?' Sasuke asked when she mentioned something about destiny, the way Nine talked about it like she genuinely believe there's such thing as destiny dictating human.
'Hm…' She shortly hummed, then followed by, 'The world has its own law.'
'About people destiny…' Sasuke trailed off for awhile, she then picked up what he intended to ask. She then decided to illuminate him a little bit in this matter.
'Everyone have their own destiny, it was written in the stars since their creation in the universe. In this way, perhaps your designated star has already been exist since millions of years before your birth.' She reckoned that this fact would be easily accepted.
'And, my destiny was already written? Since the moment I was born until the moment of my death?' He sounded angry, if he had a body probably he had already gritted his teeth in anger. Nine didn't understand what angered him.
'Yes, that is so. Since people never know the contents of their destiny, it is their free will to do what they please. It may have been an illusion, but this is how the world works, don't think too much about it.' Nine then assured him, there's nothing wrong with people destiny already been written in the stars. It wouldn't affect their life.
Sasuke was so angered he was speechless for a few minutes, this view, he couldn't accept it. No matter how he thought about it, this was an infuriating revelations, he still didn't fully believe what she had been saying but he couldn't completely brushed it off, after awhile he said.
'If what you said was the truth-' She cut him off by saying 'It is the truth.' Sasuke sighed the repeated himself.
'If what you said was the truth, then what about my family that were killed by my own brother??' He pressed her for an answer. Nine thought that he finally decided to ask about his family.
'Then, it was their destiny.' She answered truthfully.
'Their destiny were to die by my brother hands, you mean?' He spoke as if it pained him to directly said that his brother murdered his family, perhaps it was, she didn't know.
'Yes.' Nine lightly responded. There would be graduation exam next month, she better sleep early to constantly maintain her energy. At last, her source of boredom would be gone. She would remember to celebrate after finishing her exam. Sasuke still didn't reply her, that was okay, he needed time to accept the reality, he honestly didn't need to think too much, there's nothing he could do even if he thought about for a long time. Why didn't he just enjoy the life he currently had, he didn't even know his destiny, perhaps nothing bad was written in the first place.
'You finally graduated, congratulation.' Sasuke flatly congratulated her. Hm, this was the first time he talked to her since the revelation a month ago. He sulked for quite a long time.
'Ah, you don't sulk anymore?' She asked while walking towards grocery stores. Nine remembered her own promise a month ago that she would celebrate her graduation. What would be better other than her own cooking, she planned to cook various dishes that she had mastered!
'I don't sulk.'
'Hmph, could have fooled me.' Nine didn't plan to bring the previous topic lest he got mad at her again. She finished her purchases then directly went home. Nine then talked about the graduation exam, 'The demon child failed his graduation exam yet again. I saw him sulked at the academy then he was approached by Teacher C.'
'Hm.' He didn't seem to care about the demon child all that much. Nine then joyfully said, 'Let's cook curry! We'll finished it when the sun was set.' She wanted to prepare other deserts too. She hummed, thinking that this was her best day since she arrived in this world.
'Can you even properly cook chicken curry?' Sasuke asked rather panicky. He always waited for the days in which they would eat outside. He already knew that she would cook something on her graduation day, did you actually thought that he would talk to her without some legitimate reason? He desperately wanted to stop her but he could only minimize the damage by saying.
'Don't cook to much, you're - thus, me - the only one that will eat this.' If he couldn't prevent it from happening, he needed to stop her from eating all of her cooking. The faster it end, the better he would be. Nine then easily aggred. After her dish was done, she washed up upstairs then went back to the kitchen. She didn't directly eat the food but picked up the fish food then sat on her usual spot to feed the koi.
The timing was perfect, feeding koi while watching the sunset. Her skin was kissed by the sunlight, it gave off very warm atmosphere that was different than the atmosphere that would enveloped this whole compound a few hours from now on. The sun gradually disappeared leaving the sea of stars that could be seen from below the cloudless sky.
While watching the sky she suddenly felt a spike of chakra from the west side of the village. Her first impression was, furious, that was the thickest malice that she ever encountered in this world. Nine abruptly stood up, wanting to see, but then Sasuke stopped her.
'Hey, stop! You'll be branded as a suspicious character if you show up.' He warned her, his voice was loud inside her head. He then continued, 'I don't know anything about your ability but do you even have a stealth ability? From the way you speak, you never had any reason to use stealth.'
Nine paused for a little bit, he's right, she didn't have any stealth ability, she never saw the use of it. Furthermore, would momentary satisfaction worth her freedom? The answer was no, she could observe some other time. If the demon chakra could be leaked this time, then there was a possibility of it happening in the future. Patience.
She decided to abort her sudden movement then entered the house, she still had yet to celebrate her escape from mind-numbingly boring activity.
Nine arrived especially early this morning, the class was still empty. She strode cheerfully towards her seat then opened up her sketchbook, she remembered yesterday's sunset scene. It would be a shame not to commemorate the day she gained freedom.
Slowly students were trickled in, perhaps because this was the last academy day, student number 10, 13, 15, 19, 20, the pinkhead, and the blonde one with ponytail wanted to sit with him. He surreptitiously placed her bag on the space beside her indicating that she didn't wish any of them to sit next to him. If they're perceptive then they would leave him be.
"Sasuke-kun." The pinkhead cooed, why she did that?
"Hey, who do you think you're talking to, Billboard Brow?!" The girl with ponytail shoved the pinkhead aside then excitedly said, "Hi, Sasuke-kun!"
There was also student number 13 interjecting, "Hey, who are you to sit here?!"
So many 'Sasuke-kun's flying around. This was not her name but she felt a goosebumps, she attributed this to the real 'Sasuke-kun' strated to get uncomfortable. She was getting fed up by the loud noise and planned for them to have an embarrassing accident together. What should she do? Made them slip then fall on top of each other at the same time?
The arguments was still ongoing - she hadn't yet plan to interfere - when the door loudly opened, revealing the demon child with a brand new - no it is not - hitai ate over his forehead. The arguments stopped for a while, most of the students knew that he failed the last exam. Maybe, he would thank him for momentary rescue.
The sleepyhead then asked the demon child, "Naruto, what are you doing here? This class is only for the one that already graduated." He sounded curious even though most people couldn't detect it with the way he lazily spoke.
The demon child then pointed his finger towards his forehead, "Hey, I passed the test. Look at my new headband!" He then proudly walked into the classroom, the demon child then saw her desk that was crowded by clamoring students then hopped onto the desk behind her. He squated over there then scrutinized him, he said, "What's so good about this guy?"
Nine then heard several protests from the students that was surrounding her. All of sudden, one of the student behind the demon accidentally pushed him forward towards her. If she let it be, he certainly would have colided against her. Nine looked towards her left, she saw the opened window then quietly snapped her fingers then thought that it would be nice if they have an embarrassing accident together.
The wind that previously move quietly suddenly rushed into the classroom and blew the demon child away, then a series of accidents happened. When Iruka enter the classroom, he saw a pile of students on the floor, the class was silent. He slowly released his breath then belowed, "All of you, take your seats!"
The students then hurriedly went back to their seats, the demon child was sitting beside her. Iruka then exasperatedly said, "Alright, pay attention. Team One-..."
Iruka voice slowly slipped out of her mind, she felt the demon child accidentally nudged her then she refocused her attention, "Team Seven, Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke…" Iruka continue to read his list while ignoring various protest made by several students.
"Alright, that's it. You'll meet your sensei after the lunch break."'
He's late." Indeed he was, our soon to be sensei had been late for two hours behind schedule. She just hummed then continue to eat her lunch, she forgot to bring it in the morning then she ran back home to fetched it. Nine thought that her soon to be sensei had arrived so she didn't directly eat her meal, after waiting for two hours without any indication regarding their arrival, she began to eat.
"Hey Sasuke, what are you eating?" The demon child asked her. The pinkhead that heard what he said then joined our talk, "Sasuke-kun, did you make it yourself?" She asked rather shyly.
"Yes, do both of would like to try?" Nine kindly offered them, since she already got the opportunity to debunk Sasuke's opinion regarding her cookings, she would take it.
'Stop dreaming, they'll gag. Just see!' He hotly expressed his piece of mind.
Both the demon child and pinkhead were surprised, but the moment they ate her personally cooked gyoza, their faces turned green and gagged, they saw their life flashing before their eyes. Both of them then rushed towards the window trying to spit out her food. She was offended, she heard Sasuke snorting inside her head.
"Ukkk, what is this?? This must have been poison, I feel like I was about to die!!!" The demon child was lolling his tongue and attempting to looked for water. The pinkhead's face was still green when she reached out towards her drinks, she looked pale.
She then asked them, "How is it?" There's bout of silence when they didn't answer her question. But then the demon child rushed towards her trying to shake her off, "Sasuke bastard, did you just try to kill us?!" Nine ducked out of his reach then sat on the other seat.
"I only offered you food, wether you taste it or not has nothing to do with me." She smiled, even though she was rather incensed, she would never drop her politeness. Both of them fell quiet, the pinkhead probably still trapped inside her own head.
Nine then quickly finished her food, she summoned a cup of freshly brewed green tea. She quietly finished her drinks then put the cup back into her space. They watched him finished her food, still reeling from the aftermath that they didn't find anything wrong when she summoned her drinks.
An hour later, our soon to be sensei still had not arrived yet. She seriously considered bestowing him series of bad luck the moment she lay her eyes on him. The demon child couldn't stay still anymore, he decided to set up a prank. A rather childish prank, none of us even tried to prevent him.
The demon child looked proudly upon his creation.
At that moment, the door slid open and revealed an unfamiliar masked man with a spiky silver hair, what an eccentric guy, she thought. The demon child's prank fell directly to the man's hair, then he said. "My first impression… I don't like you guys. Meet me at the rooftop on a minute." Then, he disappeared.
"Alright, let's introduce ourself," The man said.
"Why don't you go first, Sensei, that way we know what to say and stuff," The demon child energetically asked.
"Alright," The man presumably smiled, then continued, "I'm Hatake Kakashi, things I like and things I dislike… I don't feel like telling you that. My dreams for the future… As for my hobbies… secret." Kakashi then ordered the three of us to introduce ourselves. Most of it flew right through her head.
When it was finally her turn she smiled and said, "Right, I'm Uchiha Sasuke, I like to sleep and I hate loud noises. My dream for the future… hm, I'm not sure but I want to look for my brother. As for my hobbies, I like to cook and paint. That's it!" She finished off her part enthusiastically, she couldn't exactly tell them that her future dream was to finish this world's story, so she borrowed Sasuke's dream instead.
She smiled at him and Kakashi merely examining her with one eye. He looked indifferent but she could feel curiosity and surprised rolled off from him. He then looked at everyone, assessing and critical.
Kakashi then spoke that they had not became genin yet and he would prepare some test tomorrow at 5 a.m. Ridiculous, she wanted to sleep. She sighed then decided to make exception tomorrow.
Notes:-
You need to understand that she's a god, she never consider human's
individuality or suffering as an important matter. This is not an
opinion that was recently formed, she already had this believe since
millions of years ago. It would be downright impossible for her to
change. She didn't believe human power against the force of fate, for
her… in the face of destiny, there's nothing humans can do as she's
the enforcer of said fate that befall on various human civilizations.
In a way, she's incredibly arrogant even though she never outwardly
project her arrogance.
- If you may excuse me, I forgot the
seating arrangement. I only remember that the chair was the long type
that will fit multiple person. I took a full artistic liberty here
😂.
But I wonder if the author that wrote canon compliant story always
remember the exact scene or they need to cross checked their writing
to the manga.
- I can't bear to write Sasuke fangirls, that's
why I only glosses over their speech. I wince everytime I attempted
to write their dialogues.
