Chapter 9: Forced Elimination

The sun was cresting over the treetops and distant mountaintops, casting its magnificent light onto the Cul-De-Sac. Crisp, fall air was blowing lazily amongst the houses, rustling the abundance of leaves that blanketed the lawns and road. It was perfectly quiet and serene as Edd stood outside on the back porch. He had awoken mere minutes ago and had the urge to go outside and enjoy the beauty. He was sitting in one of the black lawn chairs situated on the concrete slab that made up the porch. Looking out across his back lawn, he picked up his mug of coffee and took a small sip. Savoring the flavor, he let it warm him, taking the chill off. Even though he had his hoodie and fleece pajama bottoms on, it still was rather nippy out since the sun had not full risen. Edd decided to head back inside, to enjoy his coffee in a more favorable temperature.

As Edd reached for the handle connected to his sliding glass door that led into the kitchen, his mind floated to the message he had received from Marie. It seemed that she had had a similar nighttime dilemma as he had; hers being far more upsetting it seemed, judging from her message. He responded, asking if she'd like to meet up later and talk about it. Edd walked across to his fridge, pulling out some eggs to cook. He had a craving for eggs for some reason. As he walked over to the stove with eggs in hand, he heard the unmistakeable sound of the doorbell.

"Hmm, who could that be?", Edd pondered out loud.

Edd put his eggs down on the counter adjacent to the stove and walked through the hallway to the front door. Reaching his destination, he unlocked the deadbolt and turned the knob. Standing in front of him was the tall, lump himself, Ed.

"HIYA DOUBLE D!", yelled Ed as he embraced Edd in a bear hug.

"mhmmph...", mumbled Edd into his friends shoulder.

"OH, sorry Double D!", said Ed as he loosened his grip, allowing Edd to speak.

Edd offered a small chuckle and gave his friend a pat on his back in acknowledgment for the apology. "Oh, its alright Ed. May I ask, why are you out so early...on a Saturday?", Edd asked.

Ed just shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, I just woke up and decided to come see one of my bestest friends!".

Edd smiled at him at his friends childish sincerity. He stepped aside and offered him inside to accompy him for breakfast.

Ed followed behind Edd as they walked into the kitchen. Edd continued to the stove, cutting it on to preheat so he start to cook. Ed took a seat at the kitchen table and pulled out a comic from his jacket and started to read. Edd pulled out a frying pan and placed it on the burner he had cut on to prepare it for the eggs.

"Hey Ed, do you want any eggs?", Edd asked.

Ed looked up from his comic with glee at the mention of food. "OH BOY, EGGS!", yelled Ed as he began to giggle in anticipation of the coming meal.

Edd laughed, nodding his head as he walked to the fridge and pulled put some more eggs to prepare. Edd almost forgot the bacon fat to throw in the pan, so the eggs wouldn't burn. With the new items in hand, he moved back once more to the stove to start cooking. Before he could throw the fat in the pan, his doorbell rang again. Now, Edd was rather confused. Never had he had company this early, especially multiple visitors like this. He walked back to the front door and opened it, with Eddy standing in front of it.

"Why Eddy, what brings you here so early?", asked Edd.

Eddy just stared at his friend groggily, his hair was in disarray and he still had his pajamas on. He grunted something incoherent and pushed back Edd as he entered through the door.

"Well goodmorning to you to Eddy", said Edd whilst rolling his eyes as he closed the door.

As Edd reentered the kitchen, he saw Eddy was situated beside Ed at the table. Eddy was mulling over his cell phone, scowling at whatever he was looking at.

"Hey Sockhead, what's for food? I'm starvin'.", grumbled Eddy, not bothering to look up from his phone.

"Well eggs was the idea but, I assume I'll have to prepare some other things as well", said Edd as he made his way back to the fridge to grab more food. If Edd didn't know any better, he believed he'd have to get more groceries later today, considering his friends atrocious appetites.

Edd gathered a pack of bacon and pulled out butter and jam. He slid over to the adjoining cabinet and reached in to grab a loaf of bread to make toast with. With the added items, he made a pile of food to prepare and began his task, starting with the bacon...

15 minutes later...

All three of the Ed boys sat at the table, empty plates in front of them and satisfied appetites all around. Edd had a relative light meal compared to Ed and Eddy who had devoured most of the eggs he had prepared. All of this while on top of all of the bacon and majority of the bread he had prepared. Edd sat back, enjoying another cup of coffee as his friends sat patting their stomachs. Ed belched loudly and follwed it with his ever heard laugh. Edd rolled his eyes but laughed all the same at his friends behavior. Eddy in turn countered with his own, which gave way to even heavier laughter from Ed. As the laughter died down, Ed went back to reading his comic as Eddy turned to Edd.

"Hey Double-D, I gotta ask ya somethin'", said Eddy with a relative serious tone.

Edd looked at his friend with curiosity. "Of course, what is it?", he asked.

Eddy sighed and put his hand on his friends shoulder. "Have you finally decided on what you're costume is gonna be for the party this Friday?".

Edds eyes grew big and he quickly recalled his date he had planned with Marie the same day. How could have he forgotten!? They had been planning this gathering for months. Edd quickly gathered his thoughts however and offered Eddy a nod. "Of course Eddy, it's gonna be a surprise though.", Edd shot out.

Eddy smiled at his friends answer and pulled his hand back, lifting up his glass of juice, finishing the remainder leftover from breakfast in one take. "I'm glad", as Eddy stood, "HOPEFULLY it will be SCARY!".

Ed had been completely involved in his reading and paid no attention to what had been happening. Eddy looked over and tapped him on the head, gaining his attention. "Come on Ed, lets get outta here, we can hang with Sockhead later." As Ed stood, he gave Edd another hearty hug as he followed Eddy outside into the crisp fall day. "THANKS FOR FOOD DOUBLE-D!", yelled Ed with approval as Edd stood at the doorway seeing his friends out. Edd simply waved and closed the door, denying the cold air access into his warm sanctuary.

Edd walked back into the kitchen and gazed upon the disaster that his friends had made of the kitchen. "Oh no, please, you don't have to stay and clean up..", mumbled Edd as he began cleaning up.

Lunchtime

Sitting in his room, Edd had been completing some assignments he hadn't gotten to. He was finishing up the last bit when he heard his phone play the Angry Beavers ring-tone, signaling him that he had received a message. Picking up his phone, he saw that it was from Marie. Grinning at her name, he felt like a bit of a fool for feeling pleasure from something as simple as name, nut, he disregarded it and enjoyed the feeling it gave him. He opened the message and was delighted to read what he had been sent.

Sure, I'd love to hang out today! Wanna meet at the construction site and head to town?

Edd replied short and sweet, eagerly awaiting her response.

That sounds fine with me, Marie. How about we convene around 5?

True to her nature, Marie responded quickly.

Ok! I'll see you then Eddward (:

Placing his phone back down, he gazed out his window that looked out over the backyard, which led to the Park n' Flush. He really was a mess it seems. Here, they weren't even an actual couple, but after just one date and a guarantee for another, he was rather pleased with whatever they had at the moment. After gazing for a few more minutes, it dawned on him that the party was this Friday. How was he gonna work his date out with Marie AND attend this social that he had made plans for months in advanced with his friends? He'd work something out, he'd talk with Marie and come up with some sort of plan. It couldn't be that hard...could it?

Over at the Park n' Flush...

Marie had just woke up mere minutes ago, and was very groggy. Laying on her back, she brought her hands to her eyes and tried rubbing them to help open them up. Putting her hands back down, she reached with her right hand over to her nightstand to grab her phone. Pawing around, she accidentally smacked her palm down on a tack that she had left there after a poster of hers had fallen down a few days prior.

"FUCKING SHIT!", yelled Marie as she writhed around underneath her blankets, trying to will the pain away.

She brought her hand to her face and saw that the tack was sticking out of it. With her free hand, she gripped the tack and pulled it out. Marie stared at her cause of anguish and threw it across the room in anger. After the fact, she soon came to regret the decision as she know had a rogue sharp object lurking on her bedroom floor.

"Well its a great, day, to beeee alive", sang Marie as she sat up. Looking over, she picked up her phone and saw she had received a message from Edd early this morning. Smiling at the fact that he was safe and sound, she sent a reply. She didn't have to wait long for his reply as she sent a final one to cement their plans for later. Marie was happy, although anxious to meet with Edd today. Her mind was still filled with her nightmare, fresh as though she had just experienced it at this very moment. Deep in her thoughts, she did not hear her sisters arguing in the living room. Her ears perked up as she heard glass being broken.

"MAY, what did I tell ya about takin' mah lipstick!?", bellowed Lee.

"Like you need it, Lee!", May retorted. "Makeup on a turd don't help nothin'!".

Marie then heard what could only be Lee charging at her sister as they started to brawl.

Getting out of bed, she stretched around, loosening herself up. She opened up her door and poked her head out into the hallway. She immediately pulled it back on though, as May came sprinting through, with Lee hot on her heels. Marie in turn from almost being hit, felt anger bellow in her belly.

"HEY watch where y'all are going, stupid assess!", yelled Marie at her two sisters.

They paid no attention to her, as they had continued their conflict in Mays room as she heard countless things falling and random obscenities being yelled back and forth.

Marie just shook her head as she walked out of her room, down the hall and into the kitchen to grab a soda. Opening the fridge, she saw their was a single Mountain Dew left. Grinning, she grabbed the can, popping the tab open and took a long draft. Closing the fridge, she became aware that the trailer had grown silent. Thinking that perhaps her sisters had quit fighting, she returned to her room, only to be met by both Lee and May, covered in battle wounds and their clothes disheveled. Marie stopped, can of soda at her mouth as she started at her sisters with a quizzical look.

"Lookie 'ere May. Marie thinks she gets the last soda just cuz were fightin'", sneered Lee. May huffed in response and both sisters moved towards Marie with that dangerous Kanker bloodlust in their eyes.

Marie rolled her eyes, sitting down her soda and cracked her knuckles. "Alright girls, who wants it first?".

Hope everyone is enjoying this story still. I enjoy thinking of where to take it but sometimes, I get lost. If you'd like to suggest some ideas, shoot me a message with a suggestion.

I've mentioned this before I think, but I'd really love to see a R!Edd story where he gets together with either Marie or R!Marie. Just wishful thinking.

Also, I have a tumblr now. If you'd like, hop on over and do whatever you do on tumblr. I'm new so I don't know the whole protocol for it. I have my link in my profile bio but if it doesn't work, its -korvyn- ….yep, plugging my own stuff.

Anyways, enjoy and I hope to roll out more chapters sooner rather than later.

Thank y'all again.
