Bucky stepped into Valery's tent. "The Major informed me that you're leaving."

"In the morning." She said, shutting the lid to her footlocker.

"You didn't tell me."

She sighed. "I didn't know how to."

"I imagine you could have found a way."

"Bucky …"

"I wonder if you are still the girl that I met at the expo center."

She stepped towards him. "I hadn't been that girl for years. I have been this person, ready to fight and survive on my own since I fled Germany." She set a hand on his chest.

He set his hand over her fingers. "Why does it seem that there are so many things that you haven't told me?"

"Because there are." She linked her fingers with his. "Take a walk with me."

"It's pitch-black outside."

"Don't worry about that."

Once they made it out of sight, Bucky reached out and took her hand.

She glanced down at their fingers for a moment. "I'm not originally from Germany, Bucky."

"I had considered that."

"Dr. Erskine took me in."

He nodded. "Where did you come from before then?"

She hesitated and his fingers seemed so warm around hers. "It's a small place, its name is irrelevant now."

"Was it destroyed in the war?"

"Not this war."

"So how did you end up working for the military?"

"What I told you about the weapon is true."

He stopped, pulling her into his chest. "Would it be faster to tell me what wasn't true?"

"How much do you know about Hydra? The Nazi research division?"

"Not much, they have a camp near here that the Major wants us to take."

"Hydra studies supernatural occurrences. Hitler is incredibly superstitious and assigned the division to find anything to back up his ideas."

"Such as?"

"They recently began looking to something new, but their focus was once on a …witch of sorts."

"They really believe someone like that exists?"

She attempted to pull her hand from his, but his grip only got tighter. "They were looking for me."

Bucky chuckled. "Do they plan on burning you at the stake?"

She did not say anything.

"Did they?"

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breathe before looking up at him with glowing purple eyes.

He stepped back, holding her face in his hands as he examined her face.

Tendrils of the violet color made their way onto her face, causing her to light up the small dark space.

His hands finally left her face, he took her hand back in his. "That's incredible."

"That's not the reaction I anticipated." The light faded.

"That's not the secret I expected you to tell me. Or show me."

She smirked up at him.
