CHAPTER 1
The beep beep of his mobile made him so happy that he, without wasting a second took out his mobile and checked it. But his happiness disappeared as quickly as it arrived. It was just a random message from his mobile network company. It was the third month and seventh day but not a single call or message from him. Not even a missed call. He tried a thousand times to call him but all in vain. He again tried to shift his attention towards the file but now it was really difficult for him. He picked up a photo of him with his buddy and started caressing his face. Although he was not able to touch him but it was giving him a lot of sooth and comfort.
"Kahan ho tum yaar. Kitne dino se tumhara intezar kar raha hoon. Jab bhi bell bajti hai tu sirf isi umeed se kholne jata hun ke shayad tum aaye hoge. Lekin jab tumhari jagah kisi aur ko dekhta hun tu bara ghussa aata hai. (a tear falls on the photo) Teen mahine ho gaye hain aur tumhara kuch pata nahi. I miss you so much yaar. (telling him with a sad smile on his face) Pata hai aaj mein tumhari liye HQ waalon se bahut lara. Maine unhein kaha ke unhoon ne tumhein aise khatarnak mission par kyun bheja. Na hi tumhari koi khabar aa rahi hai na hi kuch pata chal raha hai. (heaving a heavy sigh) Daya pata nahi kyun mera dil kehta hai ke tum kisi mussibat mein ho. Lekin koi meri baat manta hi nahi hai. Jis ko bataon woh yahi kehta hai ke main zyada soch raha hoon. (after a pause) Mein bilkul akela hoon gaya hoon. Yaar please wapis aajao. (helplessly) HQ wale mujhe koi information bhi nahi de rahe warna mein tumhein dhundne khud aaja ta. Please jaldi aajao yaar. I am missing you a lot."
Abhijeet hugged the frame tightly. A stream of tears ran across his face narrating his immense care and worriedness about his buddy.
In jani anjani rahoon par, kahan dhundoon mein tumhein….
Tum kahan chal diye ….
He remembers how furiously he fought with Hq people earlier that day.
EARLIER THAT DAY
Acp sir was looking at Abhijeet who was abruptly talking with HQ heads. He tried twice to make him calm but despite of controlling his anger, he was getting more and more hyper.
"Aap log na hi tu khud kuch kar rahe hain or na hi mujhe kuch karne de rahe hain. Bas yahan hath pe hath rakh kar bethe hue hain."
"Sirf tumhein hi nahi hamein bhi uski fikr hai. (Abhijeet gave them an "oh really" look) Yeh aik top secret mission hai is liye hum abhi kuch nahi kar sakte." One of the men there answered him calmly.
"Wah kiya fikr hai aapko. 2 months wale mission ko 3 months se zyada hu chuke hain aur Daya aur uske 4 sathiyon ki koi khabar nahi hai. Na hi tu un ka koi phone lag raha hai aur na hi kisi bhi kisim ka koi contact ho pa raha hai. Aur na hi toh aap ko un ke bare mein kuch pata hai. (Taunting) Kuch zyada hi fikr nahi hai aap logon ko." He sarcastically made them realize the situation.
"Dekho mission ki time guarantee nahi hoti. Bahut sare missions' par zyada waqt lag jata hai tu is mein pareshan hone wali koi baat nahi hai."
Their calm tone and not getting any serious about this matter were making him madder.
"Phir bhi kuch toh ho sakta ho ga an." Finally, Acp sir spoke.
"Dekhein Acp sir hum aap se…..." But they were cut By Abhijeet.
"Aap mujhe case details dein. Mein lekar aaon ga unhein." He told them in a determined tone.
"Nahi hum yeh nahi kar sakte. Is tarah information leak ho sakti hai."
"Mujhe dene se aap ki information kese leak ho sakti hai. Main kya usse newspaper mein chapwaun ga." Abhijeet was almost shouting.
"Dekho Abhijeet aaram se lekin hum yeh nahi kar sakte."
"Aap tu kuch kar hi nahi sakte itni der se bas yahi kahe jaa rahe hai. Jab aap ko sahi se kuch pata hi nahi tha tu aap ne aise kaise mission par bhej diya 4 logon ko. (trying to calm himself down as his head paining.) Aap rehne di jiye. Main khud hi kuch kar loon ga." He started going but stopped by one of their officers.
"Kia karo ge tum." He asked him.
"Mein nahi bata sakta. Information leak ho jaye gi." He smiled sarcastically and went out. Acp sir followed him to his car where he was standing along the door.
"Tum ne ghusse mein un se badtameezi ki hai. Tumhein un se …...
"Maine kuch ghalat tu nahi kiya. Aap mujhe keh tu zarur rahe hain lekin kya dil hi dil mein aap us ka intezar nahi karte. Rozana bureau mein aap das baar us ki khali desk ko dekhte hain. (his voice was getting heavier) jab mein bureau aata hoon tu mujhe dekhne ke baad aap mere barabar mein dekhte hain jahan koi nahi hain. Ghalti se us ka naam le lete hain. Mujhe se poochein mein us ke bina ghar mein akele kaise rehta hoon. Woh tanhayi mujhe khane ko dorti hai. Aadha pagal tu hoon. Aadha us ke intezar mein ho jaun ga."
He entered inside his car and drove towards his home leaving a broken ACP behind.
