Chapter One: First Mate
Just a quick note from the author: I apologize for vanishing again, but I've been having trouble with writer's block again. This is another one of my fanfics that was based upon a roleplay and I really hope you enjoy it! :D
Uma Urchin stood at the helm of her ship heaving a sigh as she looked out to sea. She wasn't aware of it, but one of her crewmembers Gil was headed straight towards her. That is, she wasn't aware until he opened his mouth and started talking to her announcing his appearance.
"So, isn't it great? We helped save Auradon and everything." He began. "And the border's down now so that means we can go and visit Ben and Jay and Mal and everyone else whenever we want to." He finished as Uma slightly nodded at him not giving him complete eye contact.
"Yeah Gil, it's great." She replied while smiling sadly at him.
"Really? Because you don't seem all that happy about it." He began. "Wait a minute, does this have anything to do with Harry flirting with all of the girls in Auradon and then trying to kiss you? You aren't jealous, are you?" He questioned her.
"No!" Uma cried out defensively.
"Oh good, just double checking. I have to go to the bathroom. For a moment there I thought you had feelings for him." He told her before he slowly turned around and started walking away from her.
"Of course not." Uma whispered quietly once he was out of earshot and a tear trickled down her cheek as she did so. She quickly sniffed and brushed it away as Harry Hook started making his way towards her.
"So then, will you be getting a dress for the king's and queen's wedding?" He wondered.
"Mal's not the queen yet Harry remember? She has to marry Ben first." She told him before nodding at him. "And yes I will, Evie's making it for me." She told him before trying to make her way past him.
"Wait, hold on a second. Is it just me or are you a wee bit angry with me right now?" He asked her while he got in front of her and blocked her.
"No I'm not! I'm not angry and I'm not jealous I just have some work to get done before the wedding so you and the rest of the crew can stop interrogating me now!" She yelled at him. "Alright!?" She questioned.
"Hold the phone. What do you mean jealous?" He asked her before a few moments of silence fell between them.
"You wouldn't understand." She told him.
"Uma, do you like me or something?" He asked her as she quickly turned away from him.
"Maybe." She replied quietly with a shrug. "Why do you care though?" She wondered as her voice started to break again.
"Because I've liked you ever since we were teenagers, but you never once hinted that you were interested in me before, and the only reason why it appeared that I was interested in all of the other Auradon girls is because I was just trying to get your attention, and I'm really sorry that I upset you. I would never hurt you on purpose." He explained while gently guiding her chin back to face him with his finger. "So, what do you say we just start over?" He asked her as he smiled warmly and lovingly at her and brushed away her tears and Uma smiled back and silently nodded at him.
Before she knew it their lips touched and they were each sharing their very first kiss together, followed by several other small ones afterwards. Eventually after a few moments had gone by, Harry led her to his bunk and they both had shut and locked the door and started making out. A few minutes later Uma's cellphone rang.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Hey Uma, I was just wondering when you and the rest of your pirate crew would be here tomorrow at the castle." Mal said.
"Hey girl, I can't really talk right now. I'll text you as soon as I can though." Uma told her before she hung up and snuggled up close to Harry's chest after she had set her phone down on top of the nightstand and sighed again.
"Is something wrong?" He questioned her out of concern.
"It's just that I have an awful lot of guilt of what happened between us and there's a lot of things on my mind." She explained while glancing up at him as he grinned down at her.
"Well, we have plenty of time if you want to talk about it." He told her but she simply just shook her head at him.
"Not right now." She began. "It's much too complicated to get into, I'll tell you along with the others tomorrow. There's one thing that I just have to know though. Does this mean that we're officially boyfriend and girlfriend?" She asked him before he grinned even wider at her.
"I'd say that we just brought the words first mate to a whole new level." He replied before he started kissing her again and she deepened the kiss and started kissing him back as she giggled and squealed against his lips. Eventually after awhile she closed her eyes and started drifting off to sleep inside his arms. He put his arm around her and smiled down at her before gently resting his chin on the top of her head. "Pleasant dreams, my dear captain." He whispered softly before drifting off to sleep himself.
