Fracturing Skies: Chapter 1. Draft 3

Fracturing Skies

Chapter One

-The Shift Over-

.

SUMMARY:

When the Ascendants and Descendants clash, they cause worlds of trouble for the universes they fight to defend and destroy. The universe belonging to Seraphia is one such casualty, brought into a collision course with the universe of Shinigami and hollows. Ichigo and Jonas must work together to save their respective worlds and return the Goddess's power to her before both universes are destroyed.

Lots of OCs added in. Multiple Points of View. Some tweaking to the existing Bleach characters to make things fit with this alternate universe (I will try to keep the core characters as close to normal as possible). OP Ichigo (but don't worry, he earns his strength. He will NOT be overpowered right away!), OP OC.

Werewolves, Vampires, Beasts, and many new characters added to the repertoire.

*Thank you to everyone that picks this story up and decides to read it. Please leave reviews and feedback to make it better.

.

NOTICE! This story is being listed as a Mature Audiences story due to impending dark themes, blood and gore, swearing, and maybe, later on, some sexual themes/limes/lemons.!

.

Editing is complete for the first 7 chapters, and I have since moved on from them and written more material.

.

This is a CROSSOVER series between the Bleach universe and a book series I am currently working on that I call the Chronicles of Seraphia (not published as of yet, but I would love to get some more beta readers/editors if anyone is willing and able. I only have 1 person that has actually read the story I have written thus far, and it is frustrating to have people claim to want to read it and then not do it ).

This crossover is based in the Bleach universe and will cause the canon storyline to spiral away from the established universe, exponentially increasing in severity until the story's conclusion. In the beginning, it will be very similar to the anime/manga in progression with some parts of it lifted straight from the established canon to demonstrate the similarities and my own head canon for certain events.

As the story continues, it will incorporate flashbacks from the new characters to start their story arcs in this universe (if anyone is interested in the source material, I will gladly send an email with the chapters leading up to their arrival in the Bleach universe that have already been written plus some of the notes bridging the gap between them.)

I will be including the side stories from the anime in this, with some of the stories and canon established with them getting twisted to fit this new arc. This is an ALTERNATE BLEACH UNIVERSE and some things will simply not be the same.

Also, I watched the English dubbed version of the anime and will be referencing the English version of the manga as well. I do not know any Japanese, therefore, I apologize beforehand when I inevitably goof something up (because I will be using Google Translator if I make up anything Japanese-based). I will NOT be using the Japanese honorifics but will endeavor to mix both Japanese and English versions of terms into the story.

.

I am changing the category to a Hurt/Comfort and Romance theme.

The Hurt/Comfort is the start with how the teens handle the situations they are in/get into (including but not limited to self-doubts, negative self-talk, suicidal ideation or the belief that one deserves to die, etc.). I am adding this as a warning now and will include another trigger warning when I get closer to the specific suicidal thoughts later on.

The romance side of the story will be an 'anything goes' idea. I am not going to bind myself to any one theme as there will be many things that happen later on. Strong possibility of homosexual and heterosexual pairings, as well as multiple partners, alpha/beta dynamics, and the use of blood as an aphrodisiac (there are vampires in the story, after all).

Finally, I will be as respectful as I can when referencing the various themes used in the story and do not intend any offense.

.

I mean no disrespect if an idea that appears here is in another story elsewhere. There are many different stories out there and I do not intend to claim someone else's idea as my own.

.

Finally, I have seen people put disclaimers at the beginning of their stories. So, I will do the same.

***I do NOT own Bleach, nor any of the characters associated with that universe. *****

.

I will repeat this again since I do not want to risk my first story getting pulled due to a violation (and if I do violate something, mods, please give me a chance to fix it). This story is being listed as a Mature Audiences story due to impending dark themes, blood and gore, swearing, and maybe, later on, some sexual themes/limes/lemons.!

*Chapter 1: The Shift Over*

.

*Jonas Mazeri*

Jonas Mazeri stared at the beast standing before him. It was ugly and smelled worse, the tall monster's drooling jaws venting putrid gases that made him almost gag. His chest tightened on reflex, icy tendrils of shock and something else permeating his senses, making his head spin from lack of oxygen. The creature standing before him was a Severiin. It stood nearly two and a half times his five-foot seven-inch frame with a rounded, slightly extended snout and a mouth full of sharp teeth, and a long, thick green tail that tapered off behind it, putting the beast's length at roughly fourteen feet long.

It was a Dark Severiin, according to the emergency hunting job. What made it dark, the silver-haired teen wasn't certain, but it was damned hard to scratch. He and his friends were failing to dent its leathery hide, the dark green scales harder than he had thought possible. The monster stared down at the seven burgeoning hunters surrounding it with baleful red eyes that didn't hide the hint of intelligence and malice within those crimson depths.

Its jaw was full of sharp curved teeth that were pointed towards its throat, fully ready to swallow anybody that dared to get too close. And it was dripping saliva, having narrowly missed making Neil its meal earlier. His friends' essence auras twinged with 'alarm' and 'concern'. Neil Agamon had barely escaped death. Kienan Urdoni, overcoming his extreme cowardice in a moment of surprising courage, had finally awoke his magic Weapon with a blinding flash of light, protecting his downed teammate with his life. And Casey Urdoni, Kienan's younger sister by a year, had done the unthinkable and leapt into the fray following her brother, transforming her long bow into a scythe as she had done so.

The entire thing had almost made him lose focus, his shock at his friends' actions distracting him for a moment before he leapt forward, slamming his blade into the side of the Severiin's head. It turned toward him, skin undamaged from his assault, its attention once more directed his way. A soft breeze rustled the grasses of the clearing beneath his feet, gently swaying the trees that lined their arena as he gritted his teeth in frustration.

Tasha Rein, how can I get through this thing's armor? Do you have any ideas? The teen queried his Magic Weapon. Tasha Rein was an ultra greatsword class Magic Weapon with the form of a woman inside his mind, a closely guarded fact that he kept from his friends to avoid their teasing. For how could he, a teen on the cusp of manhood, admit to having an inner woman to his friends?

It was never going to happen. End of discussion.

'Hold the tip of the blade to the sky and focus as much energy into it as you can. Then imagine releasing it when you slam the blade down,' she responded with a lilting hum, her voice both melodic and instructive within his mind. It was the first skill she had taught him that involved using his Weapon for an attack and Jonas was thrilled to learn it.

He hadn't had access to her for a long time. For eight years, he had been without his powers. Since the night he watched his parents die during a vampire attack. But he fully trusted her, feeling complete once more now that she was once again a part of him. So, the silver-haired teen followed his Weapon's instruction, raising his blade high above his head.

The pure black ultra greatsword had no guard or hilt to prevent his hands from slipping onto the dangerous sharp edge. And the bladed section was as along as his body, with a flat edge on one side—making it a straight ultra greatsword—and a deadly sharp edge on the opposite side that flared out in a gentle curve roughly the width of his hand from fingertips to wrist before tapering off toward the tip. The hilt was roughly the length of his fingertips to his elbow, allowing him to adjust his grip as necessary. The handle was pure black, covered in dark blue cross-stitching in place of a standard grip, extending from the wide end of the blade.

As Jonas began channeling energy into the blade, he felt the drain on his power shudder throughout his body. Then the world around him shimmered briefly, the mirage of bright light flickering at the edge of his senses. As Tasha Rein prodded him to release the pent-up power—apparently, she had determined that he had siphoned off enough energy for her attack—he ignored the feeling of unease that permeated his senses.

With shout, he yelled at his friends, "Get out of the way!"

As they scattered, Jonas slammed Tasha Rein down and then there was white.

.

*Ichigo Kurosaki*

How Uryu managed to move his head around with his zanpakuto tied to his head, Ichigo wasn't sure. It looked pretty ridiculous. But when the giant hollow began charging something in front of its mask, he couldn't just stand by and do whatever hair-brained idea came out of the archer's head. Something about releasing his spirit energy or some such thing. Didn't make any sense to him what mister handicrafts was referring to. Instead, the orange-haired teen grabbed his sword from the other boy's body and rushed forward, every instinct in his body telling him that he needed to act. He darted forward almost without thinking, toward the towering hollow.

Then the power was released in a terrifying crimson beam that pressed down on him. He braced his arm against the flat side of his blade, resisting the intense desire to crumple under the strain. It was so hard not to get turned into dust. As he grunted and struggled, he felt a power rise from within him, a fountain of energy from deep within his soul. Is this what Uryu meant by releasing my spirit energy? Ichigo forced it out somehow, unsure if his inner mantra of go, go, go was doing anything, the bright blue beam of energy cancelling out the incoming attack and racing up the giant hollow's body. It howled and began retreating, pulling the sky back like a veil.

Panting from exertion, he felt exhilaration flood his body. He won. He beat the big bad monster that even Uryu was incapable of harming. Pointing two fingers to the sky, he exclaimed, "I win!" Hah! Serves four eyes right for thinking I couldn't do anything against that thing. Part of him couldn't believe it. But he sure as hell wasn't about to admit that to his new rival.

"Well, what's the matter, Uryu?" Ichigo demanded. He was totally going to rub this in the archer's face. "You don't have anything to say? I just saved your butt and cleaned up your mess, too." It was getting harder to talk. Was he just that tired all of a sudden? What was going on? Ignore it. Ignore it. "It seems like, you could say thank you, or congratulations, or something." He had to force the words out, his throat straining to make the needed sounds. He decided to try to move, figuring that maybe he was just stiffening up from the exercise. Ichigo wobbled in place for a moment, trying and failing to move. "That's weird," he commented. Something was wrong. "I can't move."

His efforts to move granted him a reacquaintance with the ground as he lost his balance and couldn't compensate. He could barely breathe, his entire body seeming to have lost the ability to move without considerable effort. Or to move at all. He shifted his face slightly so he could breathe, having landed on his stomach when he fell, and watched as a bright yellow shimmer warped his zanpakuto on the ground. There was no pain, or none that he registered, but he felt like, maybe, he was dying.

From beside him, he thought he heard Uryu say something. Possibly along the lines of the other boy wanting to save him for some reason. As if. But before the archer could do anything, a giant pulse of energy mushroomed out from Ichigo's body, pushing the quincy away and whiting out the fallen teen's vision.

.

*Jonas Mazeri*

When the white light faded, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. It looked to him like he went from the forest beyond Kokosu to standing in a very rich looking city surrounded by people he didn't know and objects that were beyond his understanding. The world around him felt weird, like a vague itching at the edges of his senses, trying to drive him insane. He resisted the urge to scratch at his skin, instead trying to get a feel for his environment.

Looking around him, he noticed a group of people he couldn't even begin to fully explain. A man that reminded him of the Shadow Man stood off to the side, wearing a green kimono with a diamond pattern trailing the bottom edge. What looked like blonde hair was peaking out from under a strange hat design that reminded him of a bucket from the smithy. And he held a fan in front of his face, hiding his facial expressions, leaving only pale gray eyes visible.

Beside him was a girl dressed in a skirt. She was kneeling on the ground, staring in his direction. Jet black hair fluttered around her face, although a stray bang parted her violet eyes. And off to the side was a lanky boy wearing some sort of white uniform and a blue glowing bow in his hand. He had black hair that seemed to have a blue tint to it, although it could have been the glow from the Weapon in his hand. Is that a Magic Weapon? It doesn't feel like one.

In fact, I can hardly feel anything here. The environment is so strange. No magic essence particles in the air. No ribbons emanating from these people, although, that's impossible. Isn't it? Or do they not have spirits? Are they them Shiniyish that the Old Man mentioned?

The only essence ribbons and auras he could feel pulsed through the air behind him, and Jonas turned to see each of his friends lying on the ground, unconscious. The only one he couldn't readily see, or sense, was Sheila.

'Jonas!' Tasha Rein's urgent call pulled him from his worrying. The ones he felt, and saw were alive and well. His Weapon pulled his attention toward the ground next to him. It seemed that he had arrived in this strange place on a road next to a fallen kid with bright orange hair and a Magic Weapon that looked to be on the edge of exploding.

What the hell is going on?

He shifted nervously. All eyes seemed to be on him. Glad to feel Tasha Rein's comforting weight in his hands, he weighed his options. Part of him wanted to bolt. To run as fast and as far as he could away from the impending disaster he happened to be on center stage for. But he nixed that idea as soon as it crossed his mind. He had no idea where he even was, let alone where he would run to. The only thing he could do—the only option he truly had—was to somehow discharge the rapidly rising power building next to him, an energy that was distorting the air around it with an ominous bright yellow and orange glow.

The only question was, how should he do it? He felt spent, all his energy thrust into the attack on that Dark Severiin. Thankfully, the beast didn't follow him here—wherever here was.

'Allow his power to flow through you and into your blade. Step onto his dissolving Weapon and use the new attack I just taught you to release his out-of-control energy into the sky,' Tasha Rein suggested. Her voice sounded fuzzy, like she was speaking through a door, the sound distorted. A shot of panic rose in his chest. The entire thought of being blocked from her power again scared the hell out of Jonas, but he followed her instruction like a lifeline, desperately hoping that once things settled down, that their connection would restabilize.

I have no idea what I'm going to do if I end up without her again.

As gently as he could, Jonas stepped onto the glowing blade's edge, and nearly felt his breath flee his body as he gasped in shock. The power flowing into him was incredible and layered, restoring his lost reserves in an instant before quickly overflowing them, and it was so very unbalanced that he struggled to force it into his blade. The two energies—his own and the orange-haired kid's—ground against each other before they found a harmony and slipped past each other.

Jonas gritted his teeth. It was like trying to condense a torrential downpour into a small rainstorm. He felt his skin split open across his body, the extreme energy shredding his arms as he grasped Tasha Rein's handle as tightly as he could. Small rivulets of blood raced down his extremities, pooling beneath his body in minor puddles. Gasping and straining at the overwhelming onslaught of power, the silver-haired teen concentrated, trying to guide the insane amount of energy into his blade where he then proceeded to fling it into the sky.

"What are you doing?" the orange-haired boy ground out, like it was hard for him to speak. As his high level of power flowed into Jonas, he figured that it probably was difficult for the struggling teen to talk, let alone breathe. It was hard for himself.

Between teeth clenched in pain, Jonas grunted, "Trying to save your ass. Give me a minute, I think I'm almost done." After roughly fifteen blasts, he was finally getting the sensation that he was making a dent in the fallen kid's energy levels. He could feel the spiking power starting to even out, even as it coursed through his veins and flooded him with its strength.

As he acclimated to the orange-haired teen's power, he felt his sensory abilities sharpen dramatically. He could feel the faint traces of power in the air and the blossoming auras of varying shades around the few people standing audience around him. The energy was very different from what he was used to sensing, revealing itself to be the source of his earlier itching sensation.

Red ribbons drifted from the downed teen beside him, the dude wearing the green kimono, another guy wearing something weird on his face—same thing the bow guy had now that he thought about it—that he had missed previously, and the chick in the skirt. But the red didn't bring with it the expected heat of fire as he had come to expect from such a ribbon. Instead, it was almost like a beacon of power and light in the night, a glaringly obvious difference between the beings in this world. Few reds interspersed in a sea of white. Definitely not Shiniyish then.

It was then that Jonas realized how far away from home he and his friends were.

A few more released blasts later, the tawny-haired boy's Weapon stabilized, taking the form of an ultra greatsword on the ground. It appeared to be a nameless Weapon, its form plain and ordinary. Jonas stumbled off the sword, stabbing Tasha Rein into the road to keep from falling over in exhaustion. He was gasping from the sudden and extreme exertion, sucking air into his body as quickly as he could. While he was rejuvenated magically, his physical stamina was nearly depleted.

His vision blurred slightly as he got his breathing under control. There were a few others here that he had missed previously. A short boy with bright red hair and a club. And a black-haired little girl that reminded him of his younger sister, Sima—although his sister had black hair, it was the apparent age that caught his attention—with her hair tied into two tails and some sort of big thing she carried around.

With the Weapon stabilized, everyone seemed to be frozen in place, eyes darting around the area in confusion and concern. No one wanted to move, for fear it would spark a conflict. Jonas could feel the tension in the air, but he couldn't help but to shift his feet and look around.

Where is Sheila?

.

*Uryu Ishida*

Uryu could admit when he was wrong. At least, that was what he kept trying to tell himself. But until Ichigo's zanpakuto began breaking down, he hadn't realized that he hadn't actually admitted as much out loud. But before he could beg his late sensei for forgiveness, his grandfather who had nothing but kindness in his heart, he had been blasted away from Ichigo by a pulse of spiritual pressure so strong that it knocked him back dozens of feet. Scrambling to maintain his footing, he braced against the swirling winds, feeling an almost imperceptible itching brush against his senses.

He was expecting the idiot soul reaper to have blown himself up, although that would probably be too much to ask for. He could still sense his spiritual pressure, even if it was spiking and falling in random bursts. What he really hadn't been expecting was for six people to appear once the dust settled. Five of them were down, seemingly unconscious, but one had still been standing upon arrival. Right next to Ichigo's downed form.

He raised his bow to fire, despite being well-aware of the fact that he had expended far too much spiritual energy during his failed contest to be of much use in a fight. He was far too proud to admit it out loud, but he was too weak at the moment. His fingertips were split and bleeding, and his power had waned a great deal from killing so many hollows in such a short period of time. Regardless, he was going to be as prepared as he could be for anything these intruders might try to do. Even if he couldn't sense anything from them.

Strange. Why am I not sensing anything? All living things have spirit ribbons. The color of the ribbon determines if they are alive, a soul reaper, or a hollow. So, how can they have no ribbon? How can I not sense anything at all from them? No spiritual pressure. No spirit ribbon. Nothing.

Uryu hesitated from firing an arrow upon seeing the silver-haired teen's confused expression, like the other boy was lost. The archer frowned, not sure what to make of it. The expression was something he had seen only a few times on Ichigo's face, but the very fact that he could recognize it so easily sat uneasily to the quincy. Despite the wind scattering the other teen's hair, the archer concluded, Ichigo has a twin? But how?

After a moment of looking around, the silver-haired doppelganger did the unexpected. He stepped onto Ichigo's disintegrating zanpakuto and did the very thing he himself had been prepared to do before he had gotten blasted away.

He began releasing Ichigo's out of control spirit energy.

Stunned into lowering his bow, Uryu wondered, How does he know how to do that?

Eventually, the unknown silver-haired teen managed to stabilize Ichigo's spirit energy and his rival's zanpakuto stopped breaking down. During the process, Uryu could finally detect the doppelganger's spirit energy. The boy's ribbon was red. He's a soul reaper? But why couldn't I sense anything before? With the maelstrom of power dissipated, the quincy noticed that the intruder had the same spikey hair as Ichigo, although his was silver instead of orange. And while his face was similar too, he had less of a scowl and seemed more mature.

What in the world is going on here?

.

*Rukia Kuchiki*

Damn that Urahara! Is he trying to get Ichigo killed or something?

She hadn't been able to move the entire time Ichigo and Uryu unwisely faced up against the Menos Grande. Fear shuddered through her petite form, but despite her shouts for them to retreat, the two stood up to it. They're crazy! There's no way they can face that thing! It's too much for even them to handle! And while she had no doubt in Ichigo's ability—he had done things she had previously firmly believed were impossible—she knew this was a bigger job than even he could handle.

But…Ichigo…

Somehow, he managed to not only block the Cero, but to cut open the huge hollow and force it to retreat to Hueco Mundo.

As if that weren't impressive—and should have been impossible, but this was Ichigo she was thinking about—enough, somehow, when he collapsed and his zanpakuto began breaking down—from the strain of overtaxing his human body no doubt—he managed to summon aid. Or something. The small soul reaper surreptitiously glanced at Urahara, trying to figure out what was in the shopkeeper's head. What she got in return was a narrowing of pale gray eyes in a frown.

The intruders—and there were six of them—were all splayed out on the ground unconscious except for one. He had short spikey silver hair. The weapon he held—is that a zanpakuto? It looks different than a normal one. Maybe it is in Shikai?—was taller than he was if you included the hilt. The blade was black as night with a flat edge on one side and a deadly sharp edge on the opposite side. The hilt was roughly the length of half the intruder's arm. The handle was pure black, covered in dark blue cross-stitching in place of a standard grip, extending from the wide end of the blade with no guard. The blade itself was at its widest point near the hilt, roughly the width of a hand from fingertips to wrist, and gradually tapering off to a fine point that glinted dangerously in the daylight.

And he was standing right next to Ichigo.

If she had been able to move, then maybe she would have bound the silver-haired teen with kido. Even though she was weakened, she could still cast Sai if necessary. But as it was, she was still stuck on her knees beside Urahara, bound with his own binding spell, and he was making no effort to move. It shocked her even more when the intruder proceeded to release Ichigo's out of control spirit energy. It apparently surprised Uryu as well, since he was just standing there with his bow pointed at the guy, shock written all over the archer's face. Gradually, he lowered his weapon.

It took a few minutes, but then the silver-haired newcomer stabilized Ichigo's spirit energy and stumbled off the orange-haired idiot's zanpakuto, stabbing his own into the ground to keep standing. At first, she had been unable to detect his spirit energy. But now, she could feel it strongly, enough to know that this was a powerful person standing in front of them. She had only caught glimpses of his face as he spun around when he had first arrived, but then the intruder looked directly at her. Her heart twisted in her chest, and it was all she could do to not crumple at the sight of him.

Why do I see Kaien's face every time I turn around?

.

*Jonas Mazeri*

Where the hell could she be?

Jonas searched frantically, panic pulling at his concentration. His mounting concern was making it hard to search for his friend's essence ribbon and aura, the power hiding behind a blanket of fear and worry. He couldn't find Sheila Emetere, the red-headed priestess nowhere to be found or felt. He had found everyone else, though. They were out cold. But thankfully, no one seemed too badly hurt from their journey to wherever this was. He gritted his teeth. Why can't I find her?

He leaned on Tasha Rein's blade for support, feeling completely physically wiped out. The amount of power he had channeled through his body was more than he had ever used at one time in the past and he felt its effects, the exercise draining him more than he had thought possible even though his own magical stores were once again replenished. It was an odd sort of feeling, to feel completely exhausted, yet full of energy at the same time.

Shortly after he had assured himself that his other friends were alive and unharmed, the blonde wearing the green kimono began clapping. He stepped forward on the most ridiculous looking shoes the silver-haired teen had seen to date and unfolded a fan to cover his face. Jonas shifted slightly, slowly pulling Tasha Rein from the ground and holding her in a defensive stance in front of him. Something about this man screamed dangerous. He wasn't sure if it was the power radiating off him, or the calculating look in the blonde's eyes that set his teeth on edge, but he wasn't about to take any chances.

The orange-haired boy stumbled to his feet beside him, fumbling for his Magic Weapon on the ground as the blonde with the funky shoes and bucket hat stopped advancing. Jonas wasn't concerned with the guy he just saved, having gotten the sensation when his power was running through him that the other boy only wanted to protect people, not stab them in the back. He kept his eyes on the blonde in front of him. The bow user kept his Weapon activated but held it down at his side, eyeing them all critically.

"There is no need to be on the defensive, Jonas," the blonde stated, forcing a gasp of surprise from the silver-haired teen and everyone else in the street.

Terminology

My Universe:

Beasts:

Dark Severiin: think of a Deviljho from Monster Hunter when you think of this thing. Physically, it is a bit different, but I am using a lot of comparisons to describe characters and things. This is the thing I am vaguely describing at the beginning of the chapter that Jonas and his friends were fighting. The characters from my story are being pulled from their timeline during the Dark Severiin fight in Arc 1 of Chronicles of Seraphia (the book series I am working on).

.

Magic (Weapons):

Magic Weapon: a magical Weapon bound to an individual from birth. Magic Weapons are created from Weapon Spirits that choose a child as it is born and meld with the newborn's spirit to become their Magic Weapon later in life. Weapon Spirits are reincarnated whenever they choose a new wielder (after they are separated from their current one). Typically wielded only by living people in either the Light World or the Dark World. Used to send spirits on to the realms.

.

Weapon Spirit/Weapon Essence: the personality and appearance of a Magic or Spirit Weapon within and beyond the wielder's inner world. Each one has a unique appearance and powers. They choose to bind to an individual's spirit (typically at birth) and help to shape their wielder's development. In the end, it is hard (sometimes) to distinguish the two from each other (what is the natural state of the wielder and what part of the wielder's personality and traits were influenced by the Weapon kind of question).

.

Magic Weapon Classes: Magic Weapons have classes which determine how exactly they are used, along with describing total size of the Weapons etc. Basically, a dual longsword class is different than a dual short sword class and indicates the length of the blades. There are also dual classes which will be explained later.

.

Tasha Rein: Jonas's Magic Weapon

.

Humanoid Characters:

Jonas Mazeri: main character in Chronicles of Seraphia. short, spiky silver hair. Dark blue eyes. 5'7". Skinny and toned. 16 years old. Wields Tasha Rein.

.

Extra Notes/General Seraphia Worldbuilding:

Jonas Mazeri's appearance: So, I never fully describe exactly what his face (or anyone else's face really) in my universe looks like. I give the basic hair and eye color, heights, and builds but I leave the faces open to the imagination (unless there is a specific scar I wish to address). So, I thought, how cool would it be if Jonas looked like Ichigo? (guess you can figure out which character I like the most, eh?)

.

Light World/Dark World: two different worlds that exist as copies of each other. This is where all life lives before it dies. (think of them like the World of the Living in Bleach.)

.

Realms: There are actually 12 realms where spirits live after life. 10 of them exist where their specific magics are prominent (and each of these 10 have a light side and a dark side to them). Then, there is Hell (realm of Sinners). Finally, there is the Otherlands (which is the realm of ALL Weapon Spirits).

.

Betweenlands: The dimension that keeps all the realms and the worlds connected. (kind of like the Dangai).

Bleach Universe:

Magic:

Kido: The over-arching classification of spells used by soul reapers. Divided into Bakudo, Hado, or Kaido.

.

Bakudo Spells: Way of Binding. Spells used to restrain or restrict movement or spells.

.

Bakudo #1 Sai: a weak binding kido spell that forces the target's hands behind their back.

.

Quincy Specific:

Quincy: A human that can manipulate spirit particles in the air to form a bow and arrow. When they kill hollows, they destroy their souls.

.

Soul Reaper Specific:

Zanpakuto (Soul Cutter): a weapon born from a soul reaper's soul. The fragment of their soul that is forged for battle.

.

Shikai: the first true release of a zanpakuto. Considered the second form of a zanpakuto since all normal soul reapers wield sealed swords.

.

Hollow Specific:

Hollow: A spirit being that ate out its own heart in its suffering and one that continues searching for spirit energy and souls to relieve its never-ending hunger and desire to fulfill the emptiness of its existence.

(You all should read 'On the precipice of defeat' by MissFlesh. Holy crap! I loved the unique perspective of a Hollow that this writer gives. So many fanfictions skip over the gruesome aspects of existing as a hollow and portray it like some sort of glamorous existence that downplays how horrible being a hollow really is and this author got into the nitty-gritty of life as a hollow and truly captured how bad life as one is. Truly a magnificent read and gives a whole new perspective of life as a monster.)

.

Menos Grande: A classification of the three most-powerful forms that hollows can take. Gillian is the lowest. Adjuchas is the middle. Vasto Lorde is the highest.

.

Gillian: that monster hollow that Ichigo and Uryu fought at the beginning. The lowest of the class of Menos Grande hollows.

Close Similarities/Similar Skills:

Magic Weapon/Zanpakuto/Spirit Weapon: Magic Weapons and Spiritual Magic Weapons are similar to zanpakuto in that they are Weapons unique to an individual. However, their origins are different.

.

Essence Ribbon/Spirit Ribbon: In Bleach, Spirit Ribbons turn red if a person is a soul reaper, otherwise they are white. This is how Uryu said that he figured out about Ichigo and Rukia. They are visible rays of spirit energy.

In my universe, Essence Ribbons change color and pattern based on the magical abilities the person has demonstrated to be capable of using. They can also have auras. They are visible rays of magic energy and get their name from magic's base term: Magic Essence.

In this fanfiction, one can detect how someone is feeling (emotionally or physically) by touching their ribbon. This is a more advanced technique than simply feeling someone's pressure/aura.

.

Divine Sight/Seeing Spirit Ribbons: In Bleach, Rukia states that the ability to see Spirit Ribbons (rays of spirit energy) is something that only high-ranking soul reapers can use.

Divine Sight is the special ability to see Essence Ribbons.

.

Essence Aura/Spiritual Pressure (Reiatsu): In Bleach, Spiritual Pressure is the pressure that a person's spiritual power (Reiryoku) exerts (described like reiryoku output).

Essence Aura is the pressure that a person's magical power exerts. It gets its name from magic's base term: Magic Essence.

In this fanfiction, one can detect how someone is feeling (emotionally or physically) by feeling their aura. This is typically a beginner technique, but the more advanced sensing requirements put it more in the intermediate category.

.

Energy/Spiritual Power (Reiryoku): In Bleach, a person's spiritual power/spiritual energy is referred to as Reiryoku. It is their personal wellspring of power that is all their own. Each person has a certain amount and a limit they cannot surpass.

In my universe, this is referred to as Energy. In my universe, Energy can be divided into 2 categories: Magic Energy and Spirit Energy (with Spirit Energy being a mere subset of Magic Energy).

In this fanfiction, when one's spiritual power/energy is exhausted, the person collapses from lack of remaining energy.

.

Magic Essence/Reishi (spiritual matter): In Bleach, reishi is what makes up objects in Soul Society and Hueco Mundo. The concentrations there are higher because they are the two spirit worlds of Bleach although some does exist in the World of the Living.

Magic Essence: the basis of ALL magical happenings in my universe. My entire world is formed from Magic Essence (which broken down is called Essence Elements, which we won't touch on until much later). Therefore, nearly all magic skills have some part of their name coming from one of these two words.

.

Essence Elements/Atoms (Kishi): Kishi is like the World of the Living version of Reishi and makes up nearly all objects in the World of the Living and is a term to describe atoms as a whole.

Essence Elements are my universe's version of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The term as a whole can be used interchangeably with magic essence while referring to a single element cannot. They are further broken down into Sub-Elemental Essences (which are basically subatomic).

.

Inner World/Mindscape/Realm of the Zanpakuto: this definition is basically identical between universes. Regardless of what phrase one wants to use, they all mean the same thing. Inner World. Inner Mind. Mindscape. Landscape of the Mind. Realm of the Weapon Spirit. Realm of the Zanpakuto. Literally all refers to the place in a wielder's mind where the Weapon resides and where they go to commune directly with the Weapon that is a part of them.

Final Notes:

I want to thank Andygoesrawr from Reddit for the amazing breakdown of the differences between the terms Reishi, Reiryoku, and Reiatsu that he posted nearly 8 years ago on the Reddit page: The Difference between Reishi, Reiryoku and Reiatsu. He also covered the concept of Kishi. I found this page and read it to make sure I wasn't messing up the distinction between the three too badly (turns out that I really was and, in my confusion over the terms when I was laying the foundation for the magic in my world, I ended up doing the same thing as this here was. Go figure).

.

Also, I am editing how I am doing the terminology, etc. and how it will all be organized. Hopefully, it is better than previously. I am also planning on including all the definitions etc. at the end of the chapters (as opposed to stating which chapter I defined them at the beginning of the chapter and pushing off the start of the story each time).
