The Tragedy of King Saul
Verse 1
I'm the least son
of the least tribe
of Israel
no better
than to search
for lost asses,
haven't seen any
by chance
he said
to the girls
drawing water
from the well
no but in town
theirs a man
of God.
Everything he says
comes true.
Perhaps he can
lead you on you're way.
Up to town
Saul approach
a man
can ya tell me wheres
the seers house
I am the seer
come with me
to the high place,
today we feast!
seated at the head
of the hall
Saul dine
with Samuel.
they talk
all that night.
At daybreak
Samuel took a flask
of oil
pour it on Saul's head
and said
the lord anoints you king
of his inheritance.
now, as for those asses
they've been found
so ya better head home
before you're father
starts worrying bout you
the prodigal return
mumming the word
of his kingship
Samuel
summon the people,
to the great host
he said
Saul is king
but where is he?
He's cowering
behind the baggage
God said
brought out
long live the king
they crown him
Samuel steady
the rousing crowds
saying
go home
This just in
messengers dispatch
the news from town to town
his neighbors clamor
as Saul return from the field
behind his ox
why are you weeping?
Gilead's overtaken
by the cruel Nahash
hes vow to gouge out
the right eye of everyone
their.
Saul burned in righteous
anger
he took his ox
slaughter em
and sent the pieces
throughout Israel
proclaiming this will
be done to the ox
of anyone
who does not obey,
terror of the lord
fell on the people
who turned out
as one.
they broke
into the enemies camp
like butchers ready to
slaughter cattle
in the heat of day,
Israel won.
