Roman parked the car and got out of it. Finally home. Being the universal champion and on the main roster meant that he was more away from home than Winona. She was still part of the NXT system and making waves there. Currently she had been put together with Franky Monet to aim for the tag team titles. He was sure they would get them. Both women were very talented, and he believed in his fiance.
"I'm home!" He yelled.
He got out of his boots and jacket. The house was quiet. He knew she was home. The door had been unlocked and her car was there. Usually she would come greet him or at least yell back. He got nothing back this time.
"Chipmunk?" He yelled. "Winona?"
He walked through the house and noticed the back door was open. He stepped outside and saw her sitting on a bench with a blanket wrapped around her.
"There you are, chipmunk," he said.
She turned her head and looked at him confused.
"Sorry, I must have lost track of time," she said.
"How long have you been out here?" He asked.
"Since I got home," she answered.
"And when was that?" He asked.
"Around 3 PM," she answered.
"You haven't eaten yet?" He asked. "Come inside. I'll make you something."
"You shouldn't be cooking. You just came home after a long and busy day," she said.
"And now I'm gonna cook a midnight snack for my beautiful fiance," he said.
He served her his best smile but she didn't smile back. She sighed and stood up. The blanket stayed on the bench. She walked towards him and turned her cheek when he leaned down to kiss her.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I think we should break up," she said.
She walked into the house and he was left stunned for a second.
"Stop!" He raised his voice.
She stopped and turned around to face him.
"Did you just say we should break up?" He asked.
"Yes," she answered.
"Okay, rewind. I need to know what the hell is going on. You went dress shopping today, did you not? And now you wanna break up? What the hell happened since we talked this morning for you to suddenly not wanting to be with me anymore?" He asked.
"I don't wanna marry you anymore so breaking up is the right thing to do," she said.
Tears started rolling down her cheeks. He walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. She wrapped her arms around him and cried into his shirt.
"I love you so much," she said.
"Then why do you wanna leave me?" He asked.
"They're taking over everything. I can't do this. I can't get married this way. I don't want to be part of the wedding. Nothing they're doing is for us. My mom picked my fucking dress, and your parents already paid for a fucking castle to invite their 500 friends. This wedding isn't about us. It's about them. I don't wanna do it," she said.
"Okay, so we won't get married," he said.
She tilted her head up and looked at him.
"But you want to get married," she said.
"Not like this. Not if you don't want to. And quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of them pushing all their shit on us. Like you said, this wedding isn't about us anymore," he said.
"So what do you wanna do?" She asked.
"I still wanna marry you. Just not like this," he said.
"They're never gonna let us have our way," she said.
"Leave that to me," he smirked.
He leaned down and kissed her. He slowly backed her up against the wall.
"Marry me, chipmunk," he pleaded. "Please, marry me. I wanna be your husband so bad. I wanna be able to call you my wife. Will you still marry me?"
"Yes," she said.
He kissed her again and smiled against her lips. She was perfect in every way. They were still on the same page. Their parents were the problem. One giant problem that had been allowed to exist for too long.
"I love you, chipmunk," he said. "Leave it all to me. I'll fix this."
"You gotta see the dress my mother picked out," she said.
She took out her phone and showed him a picture of the dress.
"That is butt ugly," he laughed. "There's no way you're wearing that. I won't marry you if you do."
"And this one," she scrolled on her phone. "This is the one I wanted. I never even got to try it on."
"You would have looked so beautiful in that," he said.
He hooked an arm around her waist and pulled her close.
"Honestly, you look good in anything, but right now I wanna see you naked," he smirked. "Let me take care of your needs tonight, and tomorrow I'll fix our problems."
