After Tari and her counterparts parted ways after saving the multiverse, Mario was left behind in the Meta Runner universe accidently. With help from Doctor Strange, the plumber gets his hands on the means needed to return home, which ends up becoming a trip across the multiverse filled with twists and turns and danger at various points.
