I don't own pokemon or any of its characters(except for my ocs... I think)
"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!""VEEEEEEE!"
Ash and Eevee looked up and saw Rex standing over them with a smirk on his face. In his hand is a bucket. A very empty bucket.
"So, done drowning in your dream?" Rex asked. Ash and Eevee glared at him, causing Rex to laugh at them.
"Wh-what was th-that for!?""V-Vee Eevee!?" They asked, still shivering from the cold water that Rex dumped on them.
"Well, you do want to go to Alola, right?" Rex countered and threw the bucket at a 'random' place.
"OW!" Ash yelled. Rex just laughed at him and turned around to leave the room.
Ash glared at the closing door as he pulled the bucket from his head. "Come on buddy, Let's get ready to leave" Ash said while still glaring at the now closed door.
A short hot shower later Ash and Eevee are now dried up and ready to go. They walked out of their room and saw Rex eating pizza. "Where did you even get pizza this early in the morning?" Ash asked as he took two slices of pizza. He gave one to Eevee and sat down on the sofa.
"That, my friend, is not important" Rex said which caused Ash and Eevee to look at him weirdly but Rex just ignored them. "What's important is that we only have half an hour before our plane leaves" He grinned.
"WHAT?!" Ash yelled. "THEN WHAT ARE WE STILL DOING HERE?!" Ash quickly gulped down his pizza before rushing to his room to get his things ready. "We should be hurrying to the airport or hell, we should be at the airport right now" Ash said as he ran out of the room carrying his bag in his hand and Eevee on his shoulder. He looked around for Rex only to find him waiting at the door for him with a suitcase next to him.
"You done?" He asked with a smug look. Ash just glared at him and walked out the door.
"Why didn't you wake me up earlier? If you did then I wouldn't have to rush things like this""Eievui" Ash and Eevee said with an irritated voice.
"Well, you do realize that the airport is only 5 minutes away by walking from the Pokémon Centre right?" Rex countered. Ash and Eevee groaned again. No matter what they did, it seems that it's impossible to win an argument with Rex. Rex just laughed at their misfortune as they walked to the airport.
"Woah!""Eevee!" Ash and Eevee said as Alola comes into view from the plane window. The flight to Alola was a long one, which wasn't surprising considering Alola is on the other side of the world. The whole flight Ash and Eevee was sitting in their seat(or in Eevee's case, Ash's lap) with barely contained excitement. They kept on asking Rex to describe Alola but he kept on refusing, saying that he wants it to be a surprise.
Rex chuckled at his new friends. He's only known them for a couple of days but they were already really close. He was glad that he was able to help them. "It's a beautiful sight, right?" Rex asked them.
"Yeah""Vee" Ash and Eevee were still in awe from the sight. Ash had been to many regions but Alola is something else entirely. It is made out of 4 island and each of them is unique in their own way. There was Melemele island where the biggest city in Alola, Hau'oli City, is located. Next to Melemele is Akala island, home to the Wela Volcano. On the far right side is Ula'ula Island, The location of Mount Lanakila, the tallest mountain in Alola. And last but not least is Poni Island, A place where most of it is still in its natural state.
"Where are we going again?" Ash asked.
"Melemele Island" Rex said. "That's where my mentor lives and It's a good place to start your journey. There are also lots of different Pokémons and the people there are really nice, just like everywhere else in Alola"
"I can't wait, right buddy?""Vee-Eevee"
An hour later, Ash, Rex, and Eevee stepped out of the airport into Hau'Oli City. The place definitely lives up to its title of being the biggest city in Alola. There were lots of buildings and lots of people and pokémons are walking around. Ash could see many different shops ranging from restaurants to clothing stores and so much more.
"Ash," Rex said, making Ash turn to him. "Welcome to Alola" He grinned while spreading out his arms.
Ash couldn't stop himself from grinning back. "This place is incredible" He said. "So, where are we going first, tour guide?" Ash smirked.
Rex just chuckled at his antics. "We're going to Iki town first" Rex said. "My teacher lives there and I'm guessing that you would want to take on the Island Challenge which means that you will have to see the Kahuna"
"I've read about the Island Challenge but what is it exactly? And what's a Kahuna?" Ash asked with Eevee nodding his agreement.
"I'm going to let the Kahuna or my teacher explain what the Island Challenge exactly is," Rex said. "But the Kahuna is a strong trainer chosen by the guardian deity of an island to protect that island" Rex explained.
"The guardian deity?" Ash asked. It seems that there were still lots of things about Alola that he still to learn.
"Yeah" Rex said. "Each of the 4 islands has its own guardian deity which means that each island also has its own Kahuna" He then stopped walking and turned to Ash.
"This is the shopping district. If you want to buy something then you should do it now, I'll be waiting for you at the edge of Iki Town, right next to the Pokémon School. Is that alright?" Rex said.
"Alright" Ash said. Rex nodded and walked away while waving his hand. "Alright so, what should we buy?" Ash asked Eevee. Eevee jumped off of Ash's shoulder and walked around Ash to see the different shops in Hau'Oli Shopping District. Eventually, he stopped and pointed his paw to one of the shops. Ash saw where Eevee was pointing and saw that it was a clothes store. He looked down at his clothes and realized that he was still wearing his Kalos outfit.
"That's actually a great idea Eevee" Ash said. Eevee let out a happy cry and climbed back up to his spot on Ash's right shoulder. "Let's see what Alola has to offer" Ash said as he walked into the shop.
He walked around in the shop looking for clothes to replace his current ones. Eventually, he settled on a white shirt with a red horizontal line across his chest, A blue sleeveless jacket with yellow trimming, and navy shorts. He also got a green backpack and a pair of black and blue sneakers.
"What do you think Eevee?" Ash asked as he looks at himself in the mirror. "Eevee" Eevee said. "Hmm... You're right, there's something missing" Ash said as he started looking through the shelves again. It didn't take long for him to find what he needed. On a shelf was a red and white cap. He took it off and wore it on his head. He went back and stood in front of the mirror with a satisfied grin. "Now, it's perfect" He said.
"Now let's pay for this and let's go to where Rex is" Ash said. Fortunately, for him, money isn't much of an issue. Competing in a lot of league and competitions gave him lots of money, especially the Kalos league where thousands of people were watching.
He quickly paid for the clothes and then made his way through Hau'oli City. He found Rex leaning on a wall at the edge of Hau'Oli city. Rex noticed him and raised an eyebrow. "New clothes?" He asked.
"Yeah" I replied. "Since this is a new region I felt like I should get new clothes" 'and it doesn't remind me of my traveling companions' Ash thought to himself. Rex looked at Ash strangely for a moment before shrugging.
"Well, it's your life I guess" He said. "Now come on, Iki Town is not far from here" They walked with Rex in front and Ash following behind them. After a few minutes, they passed a Pokémon Centre and arrived at a crossroad. Rex leads them left but Ash took a moment to observe the other ways. Up ahead he couldn't see much other than it's a seaside pathway. To the left side, however, he could see that the pathway leads to a beach.
"Ash, you coming?" Rex yelled to him. Ash turned and saw that Rex was already far ahead of him. "Yeah" Ash yelled back as he ran towards him.
"So, how far away are we?" Ash asked as he catches up with Rex. Rex just shrugged and pointed in front of him. Ash couldn't see much because of the fact that the path they're taking is a slope, but he could barely see what appears to be roofs. As they walked further up the slope, Ash could now see that they were indeed roofs of houses. Ash and Rex continued on walking until they reached the edge of Iki Town.
"So this is Iki Town?" Ash asked. Rex smiled and nodded. "It's so peaceful here" Ash said as he admired his surrounding. He could see that everyone lives happily with their pokémons here, instead of just keeping them in their pokéballs. There were many different pokémons that he's never seen before and he can't wait to start his journey. Rex leads them to the center of the town where there appears to be a stage in the middle.
"What's that for?" Ash asked. Rex saw where he was looking and replied. "It's usually used for festivals and grand trials"
Ash wanted to ask more but he decided to put it off for later. Rex then looked around until he spotted the person he's looking for. "Professor Kukui!" Rex yelled while waving his arms. Ash turned to where Rex was looking and saw the Professor and blinked. The professor was wearing a lab coat and he doesn't appear to be wearing a shirt.
"Rex!" The professor yelled while walking towards them with a big grin on his face. "How are ya cousin?"
"I'm doing fine professor" Rex said with a smile. "In fact, I've gotten lots of data on my research and I believe that it will be done in no time"
"As expected from the youngest professor!" Kukui said. Ash was surprised by this.
"You're a PROFESSOR?" Ash asked. Rex just chuckled at him. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"It never came up I guess" Rex said.
"Oh, hey there cousin. I'm the Professor of the Alola region, Professor Kukui" Kukui said with a grin.
"I'm Ash Ketchum, and this is Eevee" Ash said. "Vee-Eevee!"
"Yeah, I met Ash and Eevee at Viridian City and the two of them want to get stronger" Rex explained. Kukui heard this and raised an eyebrow. He then looked at Ash with interest.
"So you're here to take on the Island Challenge?" Kukui asked.
"Well, yeah" Ash replied. "But I'm still not sure of what the Island Challenge because someone," Ash shot a glare at Rex. "Refused to explain it to me"
Kukui heard this and grinned. "Well let me tell ya then" He started. "The Island Challenge is where trainers and their Pokémon travel to each of the Island to defeat the trials there. Once you've finished every trial on an Island, you can challenge the Kahuna to a Grand Trial. If you've finished all 4 Grand Trials you are then regconised as an Island Champion" He explained. "However, if you wish to take on the Island Challenge you will need to have permission from the Kahuna, or in some cases the Guardian Deity"
Ash was listening intently through the whole explanation. He remembered Rex saying that the Kahunas are really strong trainers and the prospect of being able to battle them really excited him.
"So I have to ask the Kahuna for permission?" Ash asked. He couldn't wait to start his journey and to meet new pokémons.
"That's right cousin, and the Kahuna should be here anytime soon" Kukui said.
"Well, you go do that. I'm gonna go get some sleep. I need to go to Akala Island first thing in the morning tomorrow" Rex said.
"Akala Island?" Kukui asked. Rex nodded and walked away while waving his hands.
Kukui then turned to Ash. "Ash, while you're waiting for the Kahuna, why don't you visit the Ruin of Conflict?" He said.
"The Ruin of Conflict?" Ash asked. Kukui nodded and explained. "The Ruin of Conflict is the sacred place of the guardian deity of Melemele Island. It's a good idea to visit it before starting your journey. Maybe if you're lucky you might get a glimpse of the guardian deity itself"
"You really think it's a good idea?" Ash asked. "Even though it is almost midnight?" Kukui nodded. Ash thought about it for a while. "Alright.." Ash finally said, although a bit reluctantly.
Kukui grinned at Ash and pointed to a pathway near the stage. "Just go straight through Mahalo Trail and you'll find the Ruin there. Though you'd want to be careful when crossing the bridge"
"It won't hurt I guess" Ash said. As he walked, he thought about all of his previous adventures. He had seen a lot of legendaries and even helped save the world multiple times. It wasn't that he actively tried to get involved or anything. He just happened to be at the right(or wrong) place at the right(again- or wrong) time.
"Hey Eevee, what do you think are our chances of meeting the guardian deity?" Ash asked Eevee. "Vee- Eevee" Ash chuckled at Eevee's answer. "You're right, highly unlikely" Ash wasn't sure how he knew what Eevee was saying, but he didn't question it.
Ash observes his surrounding as he walked. It seems that the ruin is located uphill, seeing as the pathway is on a slope going upwards with stairs every so often. There were a couple of statues and aside from that and the stairs, this part of the island seemed to be free of human influence.
After walking for a few more minutes, Ash could see that the pathway opens up into a clearing. All he had to do now, or at least he thought so, is go up one last set of stairs. But before he could do that he heard a voice from above the clearing.
"HELP!" The voice shouted. Ash heard this and rushed up the stairs. The voice sounded feminine, but what is someone doing here at this time of the day.
As Ash arrived at the clearing he quickly inspected the place. There was a ravine in front of it with a river at the bottom. In the middle of the ravine there was an old looking plank bridge and on the bridge is the source of the voice. A girl that looked about his age with long blond hair was standing right on the middle part of the bridge being attacked by Spearows. She seemed to be protecting something but Ash ignored it for now.
Ash was about to charge and helped her but stopped himself. The bridge was already old and Ash was sure that it wouldn't be able to withstand the weight of another human. But it was able to withstand the weight of a small pokémon.
"Eevee, I need you to lead those Spearows away from her" Ash said to Eevee. Eevee nodded before charging at the Spearows while expertly avoiding the holes in the bridge.
"Alright, Eevee use Swift" Ash ordered. Eevee created little stars before throwing them at the nearest Spearow. The stars hit the Spearow making it stop its attack and turned towards Eevee. It screeched at Eevee and attacked it with Peck. Eevee was hit and thrown backward but managed to catch himself from falling.
"Eevee! Are you alright?!" Ash asked. This was bad. If this kept on going then the bridge would surely collapse. Eevee growled at Spearow and get ready to attack. The Spearow charged in once again with Peck.
"Counter it with Quick Attack" Ash said. Eevee became surrounded with a white glow before charging at Spearow. The two pokémon clashed but Eevee easily overpowered Spearow, sending them flying backward. The Spearow regained it's bearing and glared at Eevee. It turned towards the other Spearow who were still attacking the girl and screeched at them. The other Spearows stopped their attack on the girl and turned their attention on Eevee.
"Why must it be Spearows" Ash muttered to himself. He then turned to Eevee and gave his next order. "Eevee! Lure them here but keep on attacking them with Swift!" Ash said. Eevee used Swift to hit them before turning around and running towards Ash. The Spearows followed behind him while trying to hit him with Peck. Eevee managed to avoid most of them but one managed to land a hit. Eevee winced in pain but kept on running while throwing little stars at them.
Eevee managed to make his way to where Ash was and turned around to face the Spearows. "Take out the leader and you'll take out all of them, Eevee use Double-Edge!" Ash said. Eevee let out a battle cry before surrounding himself in a white aura and charging at the lead Spearow. The Spearow countered with Peck but Eevee easily overpowered that and send Spearow flying to the ground. Seeing this the rest of the Spearows screeched at them before flying away. Ash sighed in relief but soon remembered the reason for this mess.
Ash turned towards the blonde girl who was still standing on the bridge while looking terrified. "Hey!" Ash yelled. "Are you okay?!"
"Y-yeah" She yelled back.
"Alright! Now slowly make your way back here!" Ash yelled. The girl nodded but before she started walking she looked at the pokémon she's holding and said something to it. The pokémon nodded(A/N : Can it even nod?) and turned around before floating over to where Ash was. It didn't take long for the pokémon to reach Ash, and Ash finally got a good look at the pokémon. It looked like a cloud with a blue and purple color with yellow eyes.
The pokémon floated over next to Eevee and sat there and looked at the girl in concern. Ash turned his attention back to the girl who was now slowly crossing the bridge. "That's it, slowly but surely" Ash said. The girl looked at Ash and nodded before walking again. She slowly made her way and soon made her way to the edge of the bridge, but that was when it went wrong.
The bridge was damaged during the battle and it finally reached its breaking point. The rope snapped and the bridge collapsed. Ash acted on instinct and jumped of the edge to catch the girl. He caught the girl with his left hand and used his right hand to catch the ledge on the side of the ravine. Ash looked down and saw the girl looking at him in horror.
"Wh-why did you that?" She asked. Ash didn't respond and instead tried to pull the two of them up with one hand. It didn't work of course, but it was worth a try. Ash looked up and saw Eevee and the cloud pokémon looking down at them in concern. Ash then looked down and saw the girl trying to get a grip on one of the ledges but to no avail. Ash watched as her expression changed and Ash knew what that expression means. The girl looked up at Ash and was about to say something but Ash cut her off.
"No" Ash said firmly. The girl looked flabbergasted.
"N-no? What do you mean no?" The girl asked.
"What's your name?" Ash asked. The girl looked at him confused but answered anyway. "Lillie. My name is Lillie"
"Well, Lillie. What I mean by no is no, I won't let you fall" Ash said while gritting his teeth. "I made myself a promise that I will never give up, and I'm not breaking it now, so hold on tight" Lillie looked confused but did what Ash said.
Ash said as he started swinging his right arm back and forward. he kept on doing this and soon Lillie was swinging pretty far each time Ash changes direction. "At the count of 3, I'm going to swing you up there, alright?" Ash looked down and saw Lillie nod.
"A-alright" She stuttered.
"Alright, in 1," Ash swung his arm to the left. "2," Ash swung his arm to the right. "3!" Ash swung his arm to the left with every strength he could muster. The result is Lillie getting swung up high. Lillie quickly reacted and threw herself on the ground at the edge of the ravine. She quickly picked herself up and ran to the cloud-like pokémon and hugged it tightly.
Ash, seeing that Lillie is already safe started climbing up, with both of his hands this time, and managed to get up really quickly. Lillie quickly went to the edge and helped him get up.
"Thanks" Ash said. Ash looked at Lillie and saw her dumbfounded look. "Uhh.. Lillie, any problem?" Ash asked.
"W-what?" Lillie asked, still dumbfounded. She shook her head. "No! It's just that... I should be the one thanking you" She said shyly.
"Oh" Ash said with a frown. "Well, it's no problem really. Oh, and my name's Ash, Ash Ketchum" He shrugged as he stood up. Eevee quickly ran up to Ash's left shoulder with a happy cry. "Hey, bud. You did a great job in taking care of those Spearows" Ash said. Eevee cried out happily and nuzzled his cheek against Ash's.
Lillie picked up her hat that had fallen off when she fell, she was about to put it back on when she noticed Ash's cap on the ground. She picked it up and was about to give it back to Ash but she suddenly froze.
Ash noticed this became confused once again. "Lillie you okay?" Ash said while waving his hand in front of Lillie's face. When Lillie doesn't respond, Ash noticed that she wasn't looking at him. Rather, she was looking at something behind him. Ash turned around and saw what she was looking at, and like her froze on the spot.
Standing, or rather floating there was a pokémon he's never seen before. It has a black head and body with white markings on its chest. It also has 2 yellow shells attached to its arm.
It was looking right at Ash. It was as if it was studying him, looking right into his very soul. Ash didn't know how long it was but it finally nodded and extended its hand to Ash.
Ash shook his head to get rid of the shock. He looked at the pokémon then looked at it's extended hand. It was holding a white bracelet with a diamond-shaped slot on it. Ash looked at the pokémon and saw it nod at him. Ash slowly extended his left arm and took it. He then put it on his right wrist. He closed his eyes waiting for something to happen but to his surprise, nothing happened. He opened his eyes and saw the pokémon nod at him one last time before flying off.
"Uhh... thanks, I guess?" Ash said as he watched it flew off. Ash turned around and saw Lillie looking at him in awe while the cloud pokémon was floating next to her.
"Th-that was Tapu Koko" She said.
"Tapu Koko?" Ash asked. Lillie nodded and took a deep breath to calm herself down.
"Yes, Tapu Koko" Lillie finally said. "It's the guardian deity of Melemele Island and it was said that it only ever shows itself in front of people who he has taken interest in" She explained.
Ash blinked. That was the guardian deity? The one that protects Melemele Island? Ash turned around and looked at where it flew off to. "Guess I can't have a normal life huh?" Ash muttered to himself.
"Well, I guess that's that" Ash said as he turned back towards Lillie. "More importantly, are you two okay?" Ash asked.
After seeing Tapu Koko Lillie had forgotten of her earlier predicament. "Oh yeah, we're okay, and thank you for saving us" Lillie said as she bowed.
"No problem Lillie" Ash said. "By the way what's that pokémon?" Ash said as he looked at the weird pokémon. He took out his Rotom Phone and scanned it.
"No Data Found"
"This is Nebby" Lillie said. "He's a rare pokémon and I don't know where he came from" Lillie said as she turned towards Nebby. "Now back in the bag Mister" Lillie said as she opened her bag. Nebby quickly flew in it and Lillie closed it.
"You're keeping him in your bag?" Ash asked.
"Yeah" Lillie said. "I'm not a trainer and I don't want Nebby's existence to be known by people"
"That makes sense" Ash said. He knew that there are many people out there who would kill to have a pokémon as rare as Nebby.
"Uhh... Ash?" Lillie asked nervously. "I know that you've already saved me but would you mind walking us back to Iki Town?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Ash asked with a confused tone. "I mean, I'm going to Iki Town anyway"
"Oh, right. Yeah, haha" Lillie laughed nervously. Ash just shrugged at her behavior and started walking back through Mahalo Trail. He stopped and turn around to Lillie.
"Hey Lillie, You coming?" Ash asked.
"Y-yeah" Lillie said as she quickly catches up to Ash. The duo then began walking back to Iki Town, completely oblivious to a pink, feline looking pokémon who watched everything that happened in its hiding spot in the forest. It giggled silently before following them while still hiding in the forest.
