Hello everyone! welcome back! Sorry about the late update but I've decided to change the update date to Friday. Well, anyways, onto reviews
AshK1980: Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying this and to answer your question, well, I'm basing this on the S/M/US/UM games, so yeah. You can guess on your own how I'm gonna evolve charjabug. I don't wanna spoil too much.
Reader(Guest): Well, Illima doesn't have a sibling officially. Arevi's an OC created by a friend of mine.
Guest(1): Well, I'm planning on bringing past rivals but in later arcs, and I'm not entirely sure if I'll bring Cross in, if I do then I'm definitely changing the story cause Ash never met Cross in the original anime.
Guest(2): Well, here it is, an update.
Ashpool(Guest): Well, the trial is next chapter but the Kahuna Battle is still a little bit down the line.
EllieJoFlow: Yes? I guess?
Well, that's it. See ya guys next week!

P.S. I DONT OWN POKEMON OR ANY OF ITS CHARACTERS
"So, are you excited for your first trial?" Professor Kukui asked as they had breakfast.
"Yup!" Ash said as he took another bite of his food. "This is my first step to taking on the Island Challenge and getting one step closer to my dream. And we're definitely going to win this right guys?" Ash turned towards the Pokemons who were eating their food.
"Eevee!" "Row-Let!" "Bin-Grubbin!" His Pokémons responded.
Lillie smiled at Ash. "Well, I believe you can do it, Ash," Lillie said. "You and your Pokémons"
Ash turned towards Lillie and smiled. "Thanks, Lillie," Ash said. "I'm guessing you'd want to come with us?" Ash asked.
"Of course" Lillie nodded at Ash. "We've been doing everything together this last 2 weeks," She took another bite of her food and swallowed. "I don't see a reason to change that now" She finished with a smile. Ash responded with a grin.
"Sounds awesome!" Ash said as he finished his food. A few minutes later, everyone has finished their food. Ash and Lillie were helping Kukui clean the dishes while the Pokemons were playing with each other.
"So, when are you leaving?" Kukui said as he put away the now clean dishes.
"Soon, we're just waiting for Hau," Ash said. Kukui raised an eyebrow.
"Did you make plans to go together?" He asked.
"No," Lillie answered. "But knowing Hau, he's probably going to show up soon" She shrugged while Ash nodded in agreement.
True to Lillie's prediction, Hau showed up not even 10 minutes later.
"Alola!" Hau said as he entered Kukui's house.
"Alola, Hau" Ash said. "Ready to go?" He asked.
Hau grinned. "Of course!" He said as he tapped his backpack. "What about you guys?"
"Yeah we're almost ready," Lillie said. She took her bag and opened it, letting Nebby and Rotom fly inside before closing it. She then recalled Popplio into her Pokeball.
Ash followed Lillie's example and recalled Rowlet and Grubbin back to their Pokeballs. "Come on buddy!" He said as he extended his arm towards Eevee, who cried out happily and climbed up to Ash's right shoulder.
"So you three are going together?" Kukui asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah," Ash said. "Why?"
Kukui shook his head in response. "Nothing. Just wondering whether if you've considered going through your Island Challenge together"
The three teens blinked in confusion. "But aren't we doing that already?" Hau asked.
Lillie and Ash nodded in agreement. "And I'm not even participating in an Island Challenge," Lillie said.
"That's not what I meant," Kukui said. "What I'm trying to say is, why don't you just keep on going like this?" Kukui said. "Instead of traveling to each Island on your own, why don't you three travel together" He suggested.
"That... Sounds nice actually" Ash said.
"Yea" Hau nodded in agreement.
"B-but," Lillie said. "I'm not participating in the Island Challenge, is it alright for me to just come like that?" She said uncertainly.
"Of course!" Hau said. "There isn't any kind of rule that says you can't, and besides, it will be fun to explore Alola together with you guys"
"Yeah," Ash said. "It's definitely fun to have someone traveling with you" Eevee cried out in agreement from Ash's shoulder.
"A-are you sure?" Lillie asked.
"Yeah!" Ash and Hau said in unison.
"Pew!" Nebby, who has managed to escape Lillie's bag again, said.
"I guess you're right," Lillie said. Her eyes suddenly widened. "Nebby!" Lillie said. "I told you not to do that again. We're still in the Professor's house now, but what if we were in public" Lillie said.
"There you are!" Rotom said as flew out of Lillie's bag next to Nebby. "I told you not to sneak out like that," Rotom said.
The other people in the room laughed as they watched Lillie place Nebby and Rotom back in her bag.
"That's another reason why you should go with Ash and Hau," Kukui said. "You might be able to find where Nebby came from, or maybe even how to get him back to his home"
Lillie closed her eyes and thought about it. "You're right," Lillie said as a smile appeared on her face. She opened her eyes and ran over to the front door. In that case, then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" She said as she ran out.
Ash and Hau looked at each other and grinned. "Well, let's go!" Hau said.
"Yeah!" "Vee-Eevee!"
Ash quickly said goodbye to the professor before running out of the house with Hau.
"I can't wait to take on my first trial," Hau said as they walked through Hau'oli city.
"Yeah!" Ash said. Eevee let out a cry of agreement from his shoulder. "I hope we get to battle some strong Pokemons"
"Me too!" Hau said. "How far along are we anyway?"
"We're nearly at the entrance to Route 2 roto," Rotom said as he showed Hau the map displayed on his screen.
Ash was about to ask about the Pokemons in Route 2 when he noticed that Lillie had been awfully quiet for some time. He turned and saw that Lillie was deep in thought. He was about to ask her whether there's something wrong when Hau interrupted.
"Hey, is that Arevi?" Hau said while pointing at the entrance to Route 2. Ash turned and saw that it was indeed, Arevi. He was standing there, wearing the same clothes as yesterday.
"Hey, Arevi!" Hau said as he waved his hands. Arevi turned towards them and waved back with a smile. "What are you doing here?" Hau asked as they arrived at the entrance to Route 2.
"My brother sent me here," Arevi said. "He wanted me to tell you that something has come up and that he wouldn't be able to hold the trial today. He said that it will be held tomorrow"
"What?" Hau said in disbelief. "The trial's not until tomorrow?" Arevi nodded.
"Yeah," Arevi said. "He said he's really sorry but he can't ignore this emergency. Besides," Arevi looked up towards the sky. "You wouldn't have been able to make it in time anyways" Ash and the others looked up. They could see that the sun is almost exactly above them.
"It can't be helped I guess," Ash said.
Arevi shrugged. "If I were you I would just go to the Pokémon Centre at Route 2 and stay there for tonight. That way you wouldn't have to walk all the way through Hau'oli anymore" He said.
"Sounds reasonable," Ash said. "Hey, Rotom can you-"
"Already on it" Rotom interrupted Ash. His screen changed and instead of a path to Verdant Caverns, it now shows the path to the Route 2 Pokémon Centre.
"Thanks, Rotom," Ash said with a grin.
"Alright then," Arevi said as he clapped his hands together. "I should get going now. It was nice meeting you and good luck on your trial"
"Thanks!" Hau said.
"Alright, I'll see you around," Arevi said. He then walked away towards Hau'oli City.
"So, guess we should get going," Ash said.
"Yeah," Hau said. Ash was about to walk into Route 2 but he then remembered about Lillie. He turned towards her and saw that she was still in thought.
"Hey, Lillie" Ash said to get her attention. Lillie snapped out of her thought and looked towards Ash.
"What is it, Ash?" She asked.
"Are you okay?" Ash asked. "I mean, you've been quiet ever since we left the Professor's house"
"Wait really?" Rotom said.
"Now that you've mentioned it," Hau said. They all turned towards Lillie who looked uncomfortable.
"What?" Lillie said nervously. "No, there's nothing wrong guys," She said.
"Lillie," Ash said softly. "We're your friends, if anything is bothering you you can tell us"
Lillie stared at Ash. "Alright" She finally said. "It's just that, you agreed to let me come with you on your Island Challenge while I've never even battled anyone. I watched you guys battle and you both put everything to it. I-I'm worried that I would be slowing you guys down" Lillie looked down towards the floor.
Ash and Hau glanced at each other. "Lillie," Ash said. "There's no way you would ever slow us down. You're our friend and friends stick together no matter what" Ash felt a pang of sadness in his heart but he ignored it. "Besides, that's the point of having a journey" He continued. "It is to learn about yourself and your pokemon, to face challenges and to overcome them. You don't just become strong in an instant. You have to work hard to get there. And there would be times where it seems impossible, but that's what friends are for. They would be there to help you out, your pokemon too"
Lillie saw Ash smile at her. She realized that Ash was right. If she wants to be strong then she would have to work hard for it. She took a deep breath.
"Thank you," Lillie said. "You're right. I can become stronger. I will become stronger. Strong enough so I can help you. And I'm going to start by catching a pokemon" Lillie's voice was now full of determination.
"That's the spirit" Ash grinned. "And you know what, we just so happen to be on a Route right now. So Rotom, if you would please"
"On it!" Rotom said. His screen changed and showed multiple pokemon on the screen. Ash could easily recognize some of the pokemon, such as the Alolan Rattata and the Spearow, but he didn't recognize the other pokemon.
"There seems to be a lot of Pokemons here," Hau said. "Which one do you want to catch?"
Lillie looked towards the screen for a minute. "That one," Lillie said while pointing towards the picture of one of the pokemon
The screen zoomed in on the Pokemon. It appeared to be a bug-type pokemon. It's got a yellow body, with a pair of black eyes. It's got 4 small legs and a stinger on its face. It's got a pair of white wings with a brown pattern on them.
"Cutiefly, The Bee Fly Pokémon. A Bug and Fairy type. It feeds on the nectar and pollen of flowers. Because it's able to sense auras, it can identify which flowers are about to bloom" Rotom readout.
"So that's a Cutiefly," Lillie said. "You think we can find it here Rotom?"
"Based on my calculation then there is a 20% chance we can find it here," Rotom said.
"Guess it will take a while to find," Hau said.
"Maybe not," Ash said. "We know that it likes to eat nectar from flowers, right? Then it is most likely going to stay near the flowers" He explained. Eevee cried out in agreement.
"So, we need to find some flowers?" Hau said. "Alright! I'm on it!" He then runs off before they could react.
"Hau!" Lillie said, but it was in vain.
"You think he can find his way to the Pokemon Centre?" Ash asked.
"Well," Lillie said. "He does live here. But..." She trailed off.
"I can look for him if you want," Rotom said.
"That would be great Rotom. Thank you" Lillie said. Rotom gave Lillie a salute before flying off in search of Hau.
"So, we should look for a flower?" Lillie said. Ash nodded.
"Yeah," Ash said. "Come on"
"Alright, now where are these flowers at," Hau said as he walked around in the cemetery. Around him, there were many headstones, with hedges separating different parts of the cemetery. He had run around in random directions until he arrived there.
Hau shuddered as he felt the temperature dropped. "This place is giving me the chills," Hau said. "Better do this quickly" He released Litten out of his Pokeball.
"Lit?" Litten said.
"Hey Litten," Hsu said. "We need to find some flowers for Lillie. Can you help me?"
"Lit-ten!" Litten said. He turned around and sniffed the air. He then pointed his paw in a direction. "Ten," He said.
"There's some that way?" Hau said. Litten nodded. "Alright then let's check it out!"
They didn't have to walk far. There was a patch of flowers on the ground, only about 100 meters from where they were.
"We found some!" Hau said. "Now to tell Lillie and Ash" Suddenly the temperature dropped again. Litten tensed and fired a ball of fire at what seems to be empty air. But, to Hau's surprise, the ball hit something.
The air shimmered and instead of empty air, there was now a pokemon floating there. It had a purple ball as a body, with two huge eyes. Its mouth is opened in a smile, showing two sharp fangs. Its whole body is covered in purple, seemingly poisonous gas.
"It's a Gastly!" Hau said, instantly recognizing it.
Hau took out his Pokedex and scanned the Gastly.
Gastly, the Gas Pokémon. A Ghost and Poison-type. Should a strange light be seen flickering in an abandoned building, Gastly is lurking there.
"Alright Litten," Hau said as he put his Pokédex back in his pocket. "We're gonna battle it"
Litten looked towards Gastly and got into a ready stance.
"Litten, use Ember!" Hau said. Litten created a ball of fire and fired it towards Gastly. Gastly dodged by flying to the left. It looked at Litten and glowed purple. Litten was then covered in the same purple glow and he seemed to lose energy.
"Litten!" Hau said. Litten shook his body and growled at Gastly. "Use Ember again!"
Litten fired another ball of fire towards Gastly. Gastly dodged it once more and this time looked towards Litten. Two yellow orbs appeared around its body and flew towards Litten
"Dodge it!" Hau said, recognizing it as Confuse Ray. "Get in close and use Ember!" Hau said.
Litten ran towards Gastly, dodging another Confuse Ray in the process. He then fired a ball of fire at Gastly. Gastly didn't have time to dodge and was hit by the Ember. He was about to fly towards Litten but suddenly his sparks of fire appeared on his body.
"It's burned!" Hau said. "Now's our chance!" He took out a Pokeball and threw it towards Gastly. The Pokeball hit it and sucked it in. The Pokeball fell to the ground and started shaking.
DING
"Alright!" Hau said. "I just caught a Gastly!" He ran towards the Pokeball and picked it up.
"Hau!" A voice said. Hau turned around and saw Rotom flying towards him.
"Hey, Rotom!" Hau said. "I found some flowers" He pointed towards the flower patch.
"Hau, there might be flowers here, but there isn't any Cutiefly that lives in Hau'oli cemetery," Rotom said.
Hau blinked. "Really?" He asked. Next to him, Litten just sighed at his trainer's idiocy.
"Lillie sent me here to guide you to the Pokemon Center," Rotom said.
"Oh Alright," Hau said. He recalled Litten into his Pokeball and turned towards Rotom. "Lead the way then," He said towards Rotom.
Rotom just sighed and showed the map to Hau.
"How is it possible that there isn't a single flower anywhere around here," Ash said. He and Lillie had been looking for flowers in Route 2 for more than half an hour.
"I don't know," Lillie said. "Maybe we should just head on to the Pokemon Center. We can continue looking later"
Ash nodded. "Yeah," He said. "Come on..." Ash trailed off as he turned towards Lillie. He stood there gaping at what he saw.
Lillie saw Ash's expression and got confused. "Umm, Ash?" She said. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Ash shook his head and pointed towards Lillie's head. There, sitting on Lillie's hat, was a Cutiefly.
Lillie looked up and saw nothing. "What is it?" She asked.
"There's a Cutiefly there!" Ash said.
"WHAT?" Lillie said. "Where?" She looked around but saw nothing.
"On your head!" Ash said.
Lillie finally realized what Ash meant and started tapping her head with her hands, forcing the Cutiefly to fly away from her head.
"Lillie!" Ash said. "This is your chance, battle it!"
"Y-yeah!" Lillie said, "Popplio, lend me your help!" She tossed Popplio's Pokeball upwards. It burst open and revealed Popplio, happily clapping her hands.
"Popplio," Lillie said. "This is our first battle together. Are you ready?"
"Pop-Poplio!" Popplio said happily.
"Alright Popplio, use Water Gun!" Lillie said.
Popplio cried out happily and fired a small ball of water towards Cutiefly. It hit it and seems to damage it a little.
Cutiefly seems to understand what's happening. Its body glowed green and green orbs flew out from its body towards Popplio. Lillie didn't understand what was happening so she didn't say anything.
"Lillie!" Ash said. "Watch out!"
Lillie heard Ash and ordered Popplio to dodge, but it was too late. The green orbs hit Popplio, causing Popplio to glow green. Popplio cried out as the green glow sapped her health. The green glow then left Popplio's body in the form of green orbs and flew towards Cutiefly. Cutiefly absorbed the orbs and it seemed to have regained health.
"Popplio!" Lillie said. She was shocked that Popplio had gotten hurt and that it was caused by her own inability to act. 'What was I thinking?' Lillie thought. 'Of course, I'm not cut out to be a Pokemon trainer. And now Popplio is hurt because of me'
"Lillie," Ash said. He had seen Lillie's expression and was able to guess what she was thinking. "It's alright. This is a battle, and in a battle, Pokemon always gets hurt. But that is what helps them grow strong. And Popplio won't be able to do that without you. You can do this Lillie"
"Popplio!" Popplio said encouragingly.
Lillie looked towards Popplio and realized that Ash was right. Popplio needed her and she would be there to help her.
"You're right," Lillie said. "Popplio, I'm sorry about that. But now I'm ready. Use Pound!"
Popplio cried out happily and jumped towards Cutiefly. Her flipper glowed white and she slammed it to Cutiefly.
Cutiefly was sent backward but it was able to stop itself. It then cried out its name as pink wind blew from behind her. Before Lillie could react, Popplio had already reacted by sending pink sound waves. The two attacks canceled each other out.
"That was Disarming Voice!" Ash said.
Lillie smiled at Popplio. "Great job Popplio. Use Water Gun!" Lillie said.
Popplio fired a ball of water towards Cutiefly. Cutiefly dodged it by flying to the right.
"Now, use Disarming Voice!" Lillie said.
Popplio sent another wave of Disarming Voice towards Cutiefly. Cutiefly didn't have time to react and was hit by the pink sound waves.
"Now use Water Gun!" Lillie said.
Popplio followed her instruction and shot a ball of water towards Cutiefly, which hit it.
"Now's your chance, Lillie!" Ash said, tossing her an empty Pokeball.
Lillie nodded at Ash and threw the Pokeball towards Cutiefly. The ball hit it and sucked Cutiefly inside. It then fell to the ground and started to shake. Lillie and Ash watched as the ball shook.
DING
Lillie's eyes widened in surprise. "I just... caught a Cutiefly?" She said, still shocked.
"You did it, Lillie!" Ash said. "You caught your first pokemon!"
"Vee-Vee. Eevee!" Eevee said.
"Pop-Popplio!" Popplio said as she extended her flippers towards Lillie. In her flippers, she was holding a Pokeball. Lillie took it and smiled at Popplio.
"Thank you Popplio," She said. She smiled at Ash and Eevee. "Thank you, Ash, I couldn't have done it without you"
"No problem Lillie" Ash grinned at her. "But we should head out to the Pokemon Center now. Hau and Rotom are probably there already"
"Yeah," Lillie said, as she picked up Popplio in her hands. "Come on!" She then started running towards the pokemon center with Ash following behind her.
"It should be right around here somewhere," Ash said while checking the map from his RotomPhone. They had soon realized that they had no idea where the Pokemon Center was at. Fortunately, Ash has a map function in his RotomPhone. Unfortunately, they had gone quite far from the Pokemon Center.
"There it is!" Lillie said as the white and red building came to view. The Pokemon Center in Alola is quite different from the Pokemon Center in other regions, at least from the design standpoint. Pokemon Center in other regions often had a modern style, with everything made to look simple but clean. The Pokemon Centers in Alola, however, don't follow this rule. Instead of the usual modern-looking Pokemon Center that Ash was used to, the Pokemon Center in Alola takes a more traditional design. The building has a round shape instead of the usual rectangular shape. The wall seems to be made out of painted woods, but if you focus on it you could see that it was actually made out of metal. There were palm trees planted around it, with more, smaller plants being planted up on the roof of the building. The door is a simple sliding door, and above it is a Pokeball symbol that seems to glow in the light of the sun.
Ash and Lillie quickly made their way inside. The inside of the Pokemon Center, certainly wasn't what you would expect after seeing it from the outside. It definitely had the modern look, and they appeared to have the technology to support it as well. The inside seems to be designed to provide a lot of space and still makes it comfortable for guests. The reception desk was pretty simple, there was a PC on the other side, a simple healing machine, and a Pokeball decoration on the corner of the desk. Over at the sides, Ash could see a PC that instead of a normal monitor, had a holographic screen instead. Near the PCs were sofas and couches with tables in the middle of them. On one of the sofa, sat Hau with Rotom and his Pokemons around him.
"Hau!" Ash said. Hau looked towards them and grinned.
"Hey, guys!" Hau said. "Did you find the flowers?"
"No," Lillie said "But we did find a Cutiefly"
"Really Roto?" Rotom asked.
"Yeah," Ash said. "And Lillie actually caught it"
"That's awesome Lillie!" Hau said.
"Yeah," Lillie said. "Anyway, where did you run off to earlier?"
"Oh, I accidentally went to Hau'oli cemetery," Hau said.
"What?" Ash said.
Hau nodded. "It's true," He said. "I even caught a new Pokemon!" Hau pointed at Gastly.
"Woah," Ash said. "A Gastly"
"Yup!" Hau said. "He was following us in the cemetery but Litten managed to find him. We battled and I ended up catching him"
"That's great," Ash said. "But now, we should probably get settled in. It's almost night time already"
"Yeah," Lillie said.
Half an hour later, they'd already gotten a room and were now sitting on the sofa in the common area. The Pokemon were all either asleep or were playing together, or in Cutifely's case, sitting on Lillie's hat.
"So it likes to sit on your head?" Hau asked.
"Yeah," Lillie said. "And I still don't know why"
"I think I have an Idea why" Rotom said. "Cutiefly likes flowers right? Lillie's hat has a flower-shaped top, She might think that it is an actual flower"
"That makes sense," Ash said while Lillie and Hau nodded in agreement.
"Hey Hau," Lillie said. "I've been wondering. You said that you live with your Grandfather right?"
"Yeah," Hau said.
"You said that your Pokedex was a birthday gift from your father. Why don't you live with him?" Lillie asked.
"Oh, my dad lives in another region. Kalos specifically" Hau said. "You see, when my father was still young, he didn't want to be known as the son of the Kahuna, so he decided to be a trainer in Kalos instead. There he met my mom and ended up staying there"
Ash tilted his head in confusion. "Then why are you starting your journey here in Alola?" He asked.
Hau thought about it. "Well," He said. "My father has always told me about Alola and the Island Challenge. I was so fascinated that I didn't understand why my father didn't start his journey in Alola. After I found out the reason, I decided that I wanted to come here. To begin my journey here. Sure, I'll be known as the Kahuna's grandson, but that's just another challenge I have to conquer. I will complete the Island Challenge and I'll get stronger. Stronger than even my Grandfather. And one day, I would be known not because of my Grandfather but because of what I did on my own. That's my dream"
Ash and Lillie looked at Hau. They didn't know that their friend had that kind of motivation. Their cheerful, easygoing, carefree friend.
"You know what Hau," Ash said. "I think you can do it. no, I know you can do it" Ash grinned at Hau while Lillie nodded in agreement.
"Thanks, guys," Hau said with a grin.
"Well, speaking of," Hau said. "What about you Lillie? I mean, why do you live with Professor Kukui?"
Lillie looked at Hau and sighed. "Well, It's complicated"
"It's alright Lillie," Ash said. "You don't have to tell us if you don't want to"
Lillie shook her head. "No," She said. "Both you and Hau have already trusted me with your story. Now I have to do the same"
Lillie took a deep breath. "My family consists of 4 members. Me, my brother and our parents"
"You have a brother," Hau asked, but Ash elbowed him.
"Yes Hau, I have a brother" Lillie sighed. "Around 7 years ago, there was an accident. I, my brother, and my mother came out relatively unharmed but my father went... missing" Lillie's voice was filled with sadness. Ash understood it, kinda. The only memories he had of his father is from when he was still a baby. The only memories he had before his father died.
"Our mother was very distraught. She got obsessed with finding my father. At first, it was just a couple of hours a day, but eventually, it got worse. It got to the point where we only saw her maybe 4 to 5 times a month and sometimes even less. Two years ago, my brother couldn't handle it anymore. He ran. He ran away from home, leaving me alone" Ash could hear the hurt in Lillie's voice. He thought of how hard it must have been. To be left alone, without any family.
"When he ran away, it made my mother's condition even worse. I barely even saw her again since that day. Then three months ago, I found Nebby" Lillie looked over at Nebby.
"When I found him, he was lost. He doesn't belong here. I felt like we were alike. That's why I wanted to help him. So I ran. I ran until I collapsed at the beach, where Professor Kukui found me" Lillie looked down at the floor.
Suddenly she felt someone grabbing her hand. She turned and saw that Ash had sat down next to her.
"That must have been hard," Ash said. "To lose your father at a young age is one thing but..." Ash shook his head.
"Lillie, we're your friends," Ash said. "If you ever have a problem then don't hesitate to tell us. We'll do our best to help you"
"Yeah!" Hau said. "I mean, we agreed to travel together right? That means that you signed up for this when you agreed"
"Yup!" Ash said.
"Pop-Popplio!" Popplio, who had noticed Lillie's story, said.
Lillie smiled at Ash and Hau as she picked up Popplio. Maybe, just maybe, life for her wasn't so bad after all.
