Breen's POV

I had a productive afternoon with Molly after lunch. We spent most of the day going over her requests and I also made sure to take her measurements before I would begin to draw her designs out for the dresses she wanted.

Molly ended up asking me to dinner and I decided to accept her invitation. For dinner I chose a topaz colored gown.

"I heard Mr. Hockley is on board" Charlotte told me as she put the dress on.

I was quiet for a few minutes before confirming he was.

"Miss I know you still have feelings for him"

"Please don't bring up the past" I said feeling tears beginning to form in my eyes.

Twelve years ago I had met Cal in England when my entire family was vacationing for the summer. Both Cal and I had been eighteen at the time. That summer Cal and I fell in love and it had been a happy time in my life. I knew deep in my heart Caledon Hockley was the man I wanted to marry despite being only eighteen.

However one thing stood in our way and it was Cal's father Nathan. From the get go Nathan despised my family did not come from wealth and he was against me marrying his son. Eventually Nathan Hockley gave his son a choice. Cal would be disinherited if he married me. If he didn't marry me he would not be disowned by his father.

I knew Cal always wanted be to a businessman and I would not stand in the way while the man I loved became disowned because of me. When I told Cal the relationship between us had to end it devastated him but he understood. Before we said our goodbyes Cal gave me a Tiger's Eye tear drop necklace along with matching Tiger's Eye earrings.

I wore the very same jewelry now since it matched my dress.

Charlotte thankfully didn't press the issue and I left my rooms to head to dinner. The band was playing in the dining room and it was already crowded for dinner. I spotted Molly and she waved me over. A few other women joined us and I found myself enjoying their company.

"I heard your brother is still single"

Both Molly and I snorted in amusement.

"Yes he's single, he's about to start medical school" I explained taking a sip of champagne.

"What about you Breen don't you have a gentlemen you fancy?" Molly asked.

I swallowed my wine before replying.

"Not right now but maybe I might find a gentlemen on the Titanic" I suggested.

The other women and Molly chuckled. Dinner came and once again the food was marvelous. Suddenly one of the violinists instrument sounded off. I looked to see one of the musicians looking annoyed and no doubt his violin was out of tune. I excused myself from the table and went over to the violinist.

"I think your violin might be out of tune sir" I informed.

"It is miss I just can't figure out where it needs to be tuned" he growled.

I asked if I could see his instrument and the musician at first was hesitant before eventually handing over the violin. It didn't take long for me to find out where the violin needed to be tuned and I fixed the problem. I returned the instrument to its owner and he thanked me.

"Bloody hell!" I protested as I came face to face with Cal when I turned around.

"I believe that's the second time you've been spooked today" he joked.

"Unfortunately yes" I agreed. "What can I do for you Cal?"

"I was wondering if you wished to have a walk with me outside, Rose left after dinner finished"

I frowned at his idea.

"Cal I don't mean to be rude but you are engaged and it would look bad on your part if you were alone with another woman who is unmarried"

"Then I'll reassure those who gossip we are simply friends"

I looked around to see if anyone was looking before I intertwined my arm into Cal's. My heart began to beat a bit harder as we went outside. It was a nice evening and other people were up and about enjoying the nice night.

"I'm glad your successful now in your career" Cal began.

"I hear your career is doing well too" I replied as we walked.

Cal then came to a stop and I wondered if I said something wrong.

"You know there hasn't been a day since I thought of you Breen"

I swore in my mind because I had a feeling where this conversation was going.

"You still have them" Cal said getting my attention as he fingered my pendant.

"Of course I do" I responded.

Cal chuckled.

"Your eyes always reminded me of the Tiger's Eye gemstone"

I was about to reply when we were interrupted by some stewards. They mentioned something about Rose and it wasn't long until Cal and I followed them.

A Few Minutes Later.

"This is completed unacceptable!" Cal roared.

The master of arms was putting hand cuffs on a third class passenger.

"What made you think you could put your hands on my fiancée?!" Cal continued.

"Cal stop!" Ross interrupted getting to her feet. She was covered in a blanket and she was soon beside her betrothed. "It was an accident, stupid really, I was leaning over and I slipped, I was leaning far over to see the propellers and I would have gone overboard but Mr. Dawson saved me and he almost went over himself"

Rose had looked to Mr. Dawson as she said this and I noticed she was lying to keep the man who saved her life from being in trouble. Eventually the young man was released and it was suggested a reward be given. Cal thought it over for a minute before offering Mr. Dawson to have dinner with them tomorrow evening.

I was about to head back inside when Cal pulled me aside.

"Would you like for me to escort you back to your rooms?"

"No thank you Cal" I politely declined. "Good night"

I then hurriedly left and did my best to hold back my tears until I got back to my rooms. Once there did I break down. Even after twelve years I still loved Caledon Hockley.

"Oh miss" I heard Charlotte say. She wrapped her arms around me and I wept until no more tears could be shed.
