Breen's POV

It was my intention to further avoid any interaction with Cal during the rest of the Titanic's voyage. There was no doubt I still loved him but again fate was being cruel. Normally I thought I would resent any woman who Cal would have eventually ended up with but with Rose it wasn't like that.

She seemed to be a kind soul and after last night I decided to see how she was doing. My hunch would be she was talking with that young man from last night who had saved her life so I went looking for them outside. I didn't find then until a little bit later since the ship decks were so large in space.

"Hello Rose" I greeted the red head.

She had been sitting down with Mr. Dawson looking at some sort of book.

"Breen good to see you"

Rose stood up as did her companion.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything"

"No ma'am your not" Mr. Dawson reassured me.

"Breen this is Jack Dawson" Rose stated introducing me to the man who saved her life.

"Nice to meet you Jack" I offered my hand out.

"Likewise ma'am" Jack shook my hand in return.

Jack was quite the gentleman and he explained his background. He came from Wisconsin and after his parents died he had been on his own ever since. I then had the pleasure of viewing Jack's drawings. Jack drew each one from real life. I ended up spending the rest of the afternoon with Jack and Rose and found myself becoming friends with them.

At the moment Jack, Rose, and I had just finished spitting off of the deck. Hey I maybe a First Class passenger but I liked to cut loose every now and then. Jack was about to show Rose another good way to a spit when her eyes widened. Jack immediately turned around as did I. Behind us was Rose's mother and Molly was accompanying her and a few other First Class ladies.

I did not like the glare Ruth was shooting Jack. Rose introduced Jack and Ruth responded but continued glaring at Jack with distaste. The other women didn't seem to mind Jack unlike the stuck up witch Rose had for a mother. Someone played a trumpet signaling dinner would be starting soon. Molly made a comment that made me and Jack laugh.

Rose and her mother left to go get dressed for dinner and Jack watched the red head go. I recognized the look in his eyes. He was falling in love and fast like I once did.

"Hey Breen I think I have some clothes for Jack here but could you make sure of his measurements?" Molly suddenly asked getting my attention.

"Yes of course" I agreed.

Once back in Molly's cabin I took the proper measurements on Jack and he seemed the right size for the clothes she would let Jack borrow. I left her cabin shortly afterwards so I could dress for dinner myself. I just hoped Cal wouldn't be present. It hurt to see him with another woman even if that woman was Rose.

I chose a dark blue dress with sequins and black gloves for dinner. Charlotte put my hair back in a classic bun. I didn't wear my Tiger's Eye jewelry tonight since it didn't match the gown. My favorite part of the Titanic was the Grand Staircase. There were already other people mingling about before dinner.

I was going to wait for Molly before heading into the dining room. I suddenly heard Cal's voice and I growled under my breath. I was about to walk off when Cal called my name.

"You look very nice this evening Breen" he complimented. I felt a blush come to my face. I nodded a thank you and what Cal did next surprised me. He took my gloved hand and placed a kiss on top of it. Then he offered me his arm and not wanting to be rude I accepted it.

"No one has been gossiping if your worried about that" he reassured me.

"Where's Ruth? You normally escort her don't you?" I changed the subject.

"Oh she's still getting ready" Cal replied.

"Darling?"

Both Cal and I turned to see Rose and she was being escorted by Jack who looked very nice in his suit. I also saw Rose was wearing one of my dresses which looked very beautiful on her.

"Surely you remember Mr. Dawson?"

Cal's eyes widened in surprise.

"Dawson? My goodness you look splendid in that suit I almost didn't recognize you"

"Thanks" Jack replied.

"You do look nice Jack" I added.

Jack shot me a smile before the four of us made our way into the dining hall.

"So when is the wedding?" I asked Cal in curiosity.

"That's still being arranged" Cal answered. "I'm sure you noticed Rose wearing one of your dresses"

"It looks good on her" I complimented meaning it.

Rose was talking with Jack no doubt explaining who the other First Class passengers were.

"Do you still play the violin?" Cal brought up.

"When I'm not busy" I confessed.

One of my hobbies growing up and still to this day was playing the violin. My brother and I were taught how to play. Seamus had never been interested in music. Cal escorted me to my seat before kissing my hand again. It looked like I would be having dinner with him along with Ruth and Rose after all.

To my delight Jack sat next to me while Molly sat on the other side of him.

"Tell us of the accommodations in steerage Mr. Dawson? I hear their quite good on this ship" Ruth said.

I very much wanted to tell her to shut it but since I was friends with Rose I decided against it. Jack replied casually.

"The best I've seen ma'am, hardly any rats"

I chuckled at Jack's remark as did the other people at the table.

"Mr. Dawson is joining us from Third Class, he was of some assistance to my fiancée" Cal explained.

"It turns out Mr. Dawson is quite a fine artist he was kind enough to show me and Breen some of his work today" Rose added.

"He's very good" I agreed taking a sip of wine.

"Your work is good too" Jack suddenly brought up. "Rose says the dress she's wearing was designed by you"

"Her work is quite marvelous" Cal voiced in.

I felt my face go slightly red again. The waiting staff gave us a choice of tonight's entrees and I selected the ones that looked delicious.

"And where exactly do you live Mr. Dawson?"

I swear to god I wanted to smack that woman!

"Well right now my address is the RMS Titanic, after that I'm on gods good humor"

His remark got me to chuckle again. This young man was funny.

Ruth questioned Jack again which was really starting to get annoying.

"I work my way from place to place, you know tramp steamers and such, but I won my ticket on Titanic here on a lucky hand of poker, a very lucky hand"

Ruth made another comment which eventually earned her a glare from Molly and I. Jack however didn't lose his cool to Rose's mother. He answered honestly and when he finished I gave him a small pat on the back.

"Ignore her she's a judgmental witch" I whispered to Jack.

"I'm okay Breen but thanks for defending me" Jack said.
