Naruto in Werewolfland
Chapter 3
The night sky was still dark even though they had been walking for a few hours now. Naruto found himself trying to start a conversation with sakura multiple times before realizes that she couldnt hear him. How incovient for him.
Sakura was still leading the way, Naruto not far behind her. She occasionally looked up to he sky to admire the stars. Naruto would join her in this and feel asomewhat relaxed by the nothingness around them. He had a newfound appreciation for silence.
"Naruto, Im pretty sure were getting close to a boarder crossing. Keep an eye out now for any signs of civilization."
"Ai ai Sakura chan!"
Walking for a few more moments they found themselves coming to a dirt path. They both naturally stopped walking, and Naruto stood in wait to see what Sakura would deicde they should do.
"What do you think we should do?"
Naruto was caught off gaurd by this question as the last time he checked Sakura was still angry with him. But it seems now thats its been a few hours of uneventful travelling that perhaps she had calmed down some. Naruto didnt think shed be asking for his input again so soon.
"Uhhhhhhhhh welllll"
"We can follow the path left, or to the right, or keep going forward and ditch the path entirely. I recomend we go either left or right though."
Naruto crossed his arms and put one hand on his chin. Sakura watched him do this and knew that he was putting too much thought into this.
"Left!" Naruto exclaimed
"Right it is."
Maybe Sakura was still mad at Naruto after all.
Now its important to mention at this point in the story they really should have gone left, salvation was going to be there. But of course Sakura decided otherwise so theyre going to run into trouble. spoilersss!
The sun finally began to come up, as they were facing the eastern horizon, or what ever direction the sun comes up in.
"Boy that sure is pretty Sakurachan"
"Mmm."
Did she just hear NAruto? Was her hearing finally coming back? Naruto felt compelled to ask but chose not to because he knew he was already on thin ice and really had no idea how to avoid her wrath.
By the time the sun had risen well above the horizon, they found themselves in a different kind of wooded area. The trees were much thinner and far more spread out. Tons of leavesz and old branches littered the ground, giving a crunchy step with every step step step.
"We sure have been walking a long time, I wonder why we havent found anything yet." Naruto said.
"Well remember Naruto were only a few days travel from Werewolfland (he said the title omg!) and this area of the planet has yet to be properly documented." Sakura replied
"I still dont understand how this much area still hasnt been mapped. It doesnt make sense. Surely weve been on the world long enough to travel everywhere that is to be traveled right?"
"Not exactly. Map makers are travellers usually go where they know theyre safe. Worlds tough out there son, but mess with me bro ill fuck you up"
"... what?"
"sorry i dont know what came over me i think the author got bored"
"ohh... okay"
"anyway, like i was saying. Its not that this area hasnt been traveled to before, clearly we were just in a town the other day. The problem is that people dont seem to come back afeter visiting."
"Soooo youre saying people are getting trapped here somehow?"
"I mean you heard Kakashi sensei, everyone theyve sent out here hasnt come back yet. Its been weeks and theres no response. Even our messenger birds havent returned."
"I guess i kind of tuned out when he said that. He went on for a while there..."
"No he didnt go on for a while. He went on for the usual amount of time, he gave us everything we needed to know, you just didnt listen."
"Yeah well that morning i forgot to drink my spoiled milk so i wasnt exactly in tip top shape was i?"
"Is this story going to get serious at some point?"
"Yes sorry, please continue to give us exposition sakura chan."
"Thank you. Lets see, what else do we need to go over."
Sakura stopped in her tracks taking a moment to think.
"LEts retrace our steps. Make sure both of us are on the same page."
"sure thing sakura chan"
"We got back from our last mission, it was a success."
"Yes I remember that"
"We reported to the kage tower where we were asked to meet with the hokage."
"yes yes im following"
"kakashi filled us in on whats been happening. theres a mostly uncharted territory far to the left of the world map of the naruto planet. you know the one that doesnt wrap around correctly on all of the naruto peidia stuff. or maybe it does and i dont rmember or understand anything."
"yeah totally im right there with you, i dont understand a thing"
"Sunakagur whatever the sand village is called had sent out two parties to scout the area. when the groups didnt return Gaara contacted the leaf for input. and as we know we didnt have anything to offer them, were just as much in the dark as they are."
The sun was farther above them now casting longer shadows.
"We were there at the right time and now were responsible with trying to find out what hapened to the scouts and bring them back safely if possible.
They stARTED walking agan, still following the leaf burried path.
"When we crossed the first border all of our maps checked out. doesnt seem that anything has changed since they were drawn, and that they were accurately copied from the terrain."
"its very flat here."
"that too. it seems hard to get lost here, points of interest should theoretically be easy to find just by following a compass, but that hasnt stopped people from not returning."
" i mean, do we know where we are right now? like are we back anywhere on the maps?"
"Problem there. we might be following the direction we need to go in, in this case east, but there literally are no landmarks. theres nothing of substance that can actually tell us where we are."
"cant we look at the star or something?"
"ill be honest with you naruto i neber learned how to read the sstars. at some point i comited to combat and medical training and that was that. i just trusted id never get lost. and up until now i havent."
"seems like something they should have taught us in the academy."
"yeah plot holes self ware meta shit yaday ayda. lets just keep walking this way until we find somehting, literally anything."
"im right behind you."
NAruto had now collected most of the information sakura had just relayed to him. he was thinking about how they got where they are and felt out of the loop regardless. the last gew days had gone by like a blur to him. he had trusted too much in sakura ro keep track of things for the both of them. that or sakura wasnt entertaining his negligence and was trying to force him to pay attention on his own.
Sakura was still still still ahead of anruto. then naruto realized that he just had a full on conversation with sakura and for the most part she wasnt looking at him whuile gthey did.
"so is your hearing finalyl abck?"
"somewhat. everythings queit. but i can hear you well enough and i can hear the birds at least. if i keep gaiing my hearing back at this rate, then i think ill makea full reocveriy."
"oh thats a relief."
"what about you naruto? im assuming youve been hearing fine for a while now."
naruto had forgotten how well he was hearing again, he had been so enamoured with the silence and soun ds ==== of nature.]]\\
dont knowt look at the keyboard when typing ugh
"yeah i mean my ears still feel like thye have water stuck inside them but other than that i think im hearing fine. again maybe not as good as usuakl but more than enough to forget about it."
"good"
Naruto paused and a gap in the conversation appeared.
"say sakura chan. why do you think your hearing hasnt come back as well as mine has /? i mean im assuming it has to do with kurama healing me bur still."
"im going to takwe a wild guess and say that its that and the fact that kuaramas chakra probably prevented your ears from getting as dmamged as mine in the first place. you just dont get injuries as badly as someone else would."
"right right... but, didnt you heal your ears? i mean you certainly did something to mine"
"i dont know naruto. healing yourself and healing some one else are two diferent things. plus with you its less like im the one healing your ears as much as i tell where your own healing chakras need to go to heal themself. whenever i heal you your chakra just soaks up my infusions liek it has its own gravity pull"
" didnt know that"
"nevermind it, im sure my hearing will come back eventually. if anyhitng im not going to worry about it because if i do i will freak out."
"ohh... right."
Time for some plot plot?
"so back to retracing our steps..."
"yes?" sakura repleid
"were both in agreeance that the screenching was the werewolf right?"
Sakura stopped in her tracks.
"Naruto, for the last time werewolves arent real. they are works of fiction."
"yeah okay sakurachan but i mean cmonnnnn. a whiole town talking anout werewolf attacks and then a full mon and suddenly theres a screeching? thats enough for me, weve got a werewolf situation on our hands."
Sakura sighed.
"Lets for a minute assume youre not talking out of your ass right now. lets assume that all of those townfolk didnt fall for a dumb rumor and there really is a werewolf. the fact of the matter is, even if its out there, we dont know wheere it is. we dont know why its here. we dont know what its like or what it looks like. we dont kn-"
NAruto interupted "Well we know what it sounds like thats for sure"
Sakura dropped her head and looked ticked off at naruto.
"again, ASSUMING that screeching was from a literal werewolf, what does that help us any?"
"uhh"
"before we can make any conclusions or any deductions were going to need a lot more information before we can be confident we know what were talking about."
"but you have to admit that the sound literally sounded like a howl, thats absoluetely were-"
Now sakura interupted.
"Thes screeching also went on for at least half an hour. with no interuptions. and it might have gone on longer if it wsant for ME getting us away from the sound."
Naruto hadnt thought of that. He pouted.
"Yeah well... I still think it was a werewolf. Maybe he just had really big lungs and could scream fro a really long time."
Sakura rolled ehr eyes.
"Sure. wahtever. as far as im concerned a werewolf is flat out magic nonsense. no reason why the laws of phsyics would apply to them"
"sEe! now youre talking!"
"im making- whatever. my point is we dont know enough about anything of anything right now and im not going to waste my time trying to connect the dots before we find out more. how about we shut up and keep walkig until we find something to point us along our journey."
Naruto tensed up a bit listening to skaurs toned sharpen there.
"yes maam." naruto whimpered.
"Good. lets go."
They kept along the path for aonter horu or so. They fnally came accorss a hut in the middle of the trees. it was made of logs and looked more like an outhouse than anything else.
"what is that? an outhouse?"
"i dont know why there would be an outhouse in the middle of nowhere naruto."
"right but... i mean look at it. thats an outhouse."
Sakura hated to admit it, but it really did look like a nasty old dump hut. and while the idea of searching a poo insert name of thing, it really was the first thing they had seen of any note for the last day or so. they didnt really have a choice but to examine it.
"you think theyd mind?"
"what? who?"
"i dont know the outhouse people"
"who are you talking about?"
"like whoever owns that outhouse."
They continued to inch closer to the wooden box of pain.
"you really think someone is going to maintain an outhouse all the way out here? where theres no sign of civiliation?"
Naruto sped up and went ahead of sakura for the first time in who knows how long.
"are you even listening?"
Naruto reached the log receptical made of logs. He looked at it with great wonder. Sakura was digusted by her teammates behavior. He was looking at the outhouse like it was a woman or a bowl of food. cringe much
"il be right back"
"Wait? you mean when you said?"
"when nature calls!"
"Naruto were literally outside you dont have gto use the- oh dear god. none of this is right."
"cmon sakura. i know you want to too"
Sakura reveled in terror at the thought.
"im leaving you. it was good knowing you."
"oh come on dont be like that! ill only be a minute!"
"cant hear you, my ears stoped working agian.'"
sakura pattered on. naruto looked back and forth between the pop up pooper and his best friend. he didnt want to get left behind, but he also couldnt just miss this opprotunity to doodoo in this wonderful hole in the ground. i mean its what it was made for after all wasnt it!
in the end, the outhouse won.
yeah this is the stupidest shit ive written yet. or not. but it feels awful lol thats the proble with not editing or going back through my material, i dont get to question it. i dont know about you, but i think this chapter was awful haaha okaky okay but seriously, i PROKMISE Ill spend all day today brainstorming before i write the next chapter. hell maybe ill be able to make up the whole arc of the story! that would certainly help keep it interesting, actually knowing roughly were i want to end up. oh lord. you know if youre reading this that means youre my best bud right? i mean only a true loyal fan would make it this far and stick with me. i respect that. there needs to more people like you in this world. and you know what? You are now contractually obligated to keep reading this story until its completed. Failure to do so will result in a swift karate chop to the neck. You wont like it, I can promise you that. Hell, youre now my minion for the rest of time. Trapped to read my writing no matter how revolting it becomes. You fool. You really thought i was on your side? Hahaha, oh you.
