Note: Written for Christmas in July event with The Melting Pot with the following prompts: Longyearbyen, Norway & Amusement Park.

Bonnie's summer was basically a world tour away from all the problems and crap that came with Mystic Falls. She loved her home, truly, but its downsides warranted a break or two.

She'd gone to Paris, Rio, and even Sydney. While a part of her felt peace, a part of her felt hollow. And she hated it. Not only for the emptiness but because she knew why she had this feeling inside.

She was a great distance away from him.

It might not have been the best of ideas but it was best at the time. Still, the further the distance between them the stronger the yearning became.

Sometimes the mysteries of magic were simply evil instead of enchanting.

The latest destination in Bonnie's summer tour happened to be a cold one in Longyearbyen. If anyone asked it was simply because she wanted to somewhere completely chill, somewhere she wouldn't be found no matter what. Bonnie should have known better.

Inside one of the small, cozy bars, Bonnie neglected to notice how her hollow-like form was becoming whole until it was too late.

"Well, well," came the drawl from a voice Bonnie was all too familiar with. "You've been quite the busy body, Bonnie."

She tensed as she finally sensed him drawing closer. Her body had become an instant betrayer when it relaxed and a sigh of content slipped past her lips. This shouldn't be happening!

"Klaus," Bonnie gritted out with a sardonic smile. "Can't a woman just go on a trip and hide from her problems?"

"That's funny, thinking you could hide from me on my native land," he said.

Bonnie huffed and folded her arms, her not-so-pleasant smile leaving quickly. "Wouldn't that be in Mystic Falls?"

"Viking blood, Luv," Klaus replied with notable cheekiness. "Mystic Falls was only the next blip in history."

The brunette audibly groaned. "Can't you just leave me be for once?" she asked. "All I want are moments filled with happiness and peace, to be awed and amused at the world."

"I know you didn't come here for the bloody amusement park," he remarked sarcastically with a snort. "Honestly, you should face the facts regarding your 'happiness and peace', Luv."

Bonnie tilted her head, having an idea as to where this was going, but not entirely wanting to accept it yet. "Is that so?" she said. "What are those facts? That I should have killed you years ago?"

The cheeky sonuva bitch grinned, though his eyes still held some intensity. "And feel like a bottomless abyss forever? Not you, Bonnie Bennett. Not when you could feel all-powerful and wicked bliss in my bonded company."

He'd said it. The hidden truth she never told another soul back home. If she had, who knows how they would have reacted. It was a secret she'd kept close to her since that wretched prom night.

She felt like dying.

Bonnie felt the sting on her heart with Silas using Jeremy's face against her, and the soulless expression on her best friend's face as she bit into Bonnie's neck.

If it hadn't been for Expression, Bonnie would have given into the attack; it wouldn't allow it. Not that she'd known that there was another force at play that wasn't ready for the witch to give up just yet either.

"You awakened something when you unlinked me and my siblings, luv," he said in a low tone, tickling the back of her ear. "The spirits are no doubt reeling and wisping about on the Other Side from the revelation that I, Klaus Mikaelson, possess a soul."

The hybrid lifted a lock of her hair with his finger, and Bonnie slapped his hand away instinctively. She glared, projecting the ever-growing anger she felt inside. Her magic hummed throughout her body, meshing with the Expression coursing through her veins as both were eager to be unleashed.

Yet she saw no fear in Klaus' eyes. In fact, the Original only reacted with a deep chuckle. That amount of simplicity from the likes of him was hardly ever a good thing.

"A soul that's intertwined with yours."

She knew it. It was an unbelievable, horrible thing, and she chose not to accept it. This night couldn't possibly get any worse.

She just had to ask, didn't she?

Since that night, Bonnie never had Silas in her head again. No matter what the once immortal man tried to do, it didn't affect Bonnie. She begrudgingly acknowledged that it was from the magic ignited through her bond with Klaus.

What she couldn't acknowledge was that it was simply fate. There had to be a way to test it, to break it.

Why would life ever be that kind to her?

"Fate," the hybrid said while nuzzling her neck, "among other nuisances, has dictated my life for far too long."

He wasn't supposed to be this far in her personal space, more like thrown into the furthest wall.

So why was he still right there?

"Fate's a bitch," Bonnie quipped, "but she knows what she's doing from time to time."

Klaus lifted his head slowly. It was obvious he was baiting and seducing her for whatever reason. It was obvious his antics were working. It was also obvious Bonnie wouldn't give up resisting regardless.

"Are you accepting Fate's decision to bind your soul to mine?"

"No," she answered. "Whatever spell you managed to put together to do this, I will break it."

"Good luck with that, Witch," Klaus said with a growl. "I've yet to find a spell or reversal in any of the old grimoires in my collection."

Bonnie gasped dramatically. "What? The almighty Klaus Mikaelson didn't get his way?"

She knew better than to goad the Original Hybrid when it was clear she was at his mercy, but it had been done. He responded with a darker growl, pulling her closer. She blamed it on her newfound adult-life hormones when her next gasp erupted with genuine excitement from his touch.

"Are you sure about that?" he questioned.

She never had the chance to respond because he vamped them away to an obscure location. Her next choices were stupid, irresponsible, sinful, shameful, and exhilarating. It was all prom's freaking fault.

Any day after that, Bonnie tried her best to keep a distance from Klaus. She was so ashamed of herself, and she had to test the sincerity of the soul bond. It shouldn't have been possible, yet here she was magically connected to Klaus. She couldn't be far from him without a sense of emptiness, and when they were together, all was well in her world as far as her being was concerned.

A cruel, sick joke that Bonnie would never be rid of til she died.

She'd been so wrapped in her mind she had forgotten that Klaus was actually there with her. It happened every time too. He would snap his fingers to get her attention, and there was another round of snark between them.

It always ended with that strong allurement into his embrace and her cursing the days for all their worth. She could imagine the thoughts he had, but she didn't give a damn about those.

Bonnie had been attempting to get away from a number of things in her life, and Klaus Mikaelson was definitely being included in that. Despite her efforts, he found her. He always found her, even near the freaking North Pole. Couldn't a witch feel empty and content simultaneously? Just once? Please?

Though, as the hybrid's devilish fingers grazed along the flesh of her side, Bonnie refused to admit it aloud that she didn't mind it so much.

Note: Fingers crossed an extended version of these events will be written in the future!
