AN: =VVVV lmao, this is the long await sequel to The Witch and Wolf. Tis my bday so take my reverse gift and happy korrasami week!

"Korra?"

All of the witches and warlocks repeat as if they were a broken record player. Tonraq sighs with a palm to the face as Korra stood there in the back with a nervous expression, practically sweating out of fear. It was as if she was being scolded in front of them without actually being scolded based on the pressure Tonraq was exerting. And, in the midst of this sudden confession, Asami was practically frozen solid as if she had been hit with an ice spell.

I— what?!

With her mouth agape, Asami's brain was buffering.

Oh. My. Spirits.

She couldn't believe her eyes. One second she was petting the cutest and fluffiest wolf and then next, BAM. She was staring at the most beautiful human in existence ever, hello? Like HELLO! Half of the young witch wasn't sure where to look and the other half knew where exactly she was looking.

Korra still had the same beautiful cyan eyes she had as a wolf but even more so, with that cute yet dorkish and awkward grin of hers rather than a cute wolf-like face. However, spirits did her eyes seriously compliment her dark skin tone so well. She was honestly beautiful and adorable wolf or human. Not to mention the mystery of her soft white belly. Why was her belly white when clearly her amazing chestnut coat reflected her hair? And her body. From when she had carried Korra's injured self (as a wolf of course) to the cabin, Asami had realized that she was a hefty yet toned wolf and spirits, did that reflect how Korra was in her human form.

She blinks again lost in her thoughts.

Speaking of her nice physique, damn, was her body nice. Asami literally couldn't help herself from stare—observing. Yes. That was what she was doing. That was her thing. She always had been the analytic bookworm of the group. And speaking of observations, her eyes trailed down to those nice toned thighs and legs. Ignoring her naughty thoughts, what happened to her wound? Was her leg okay? Her eyes zoomed in on the spot she had treated which was located high up in her inner thigh. She felt her mouth go dry and she swallowed.

"Asami you're drooling."

Immediately snapping out of it, her head snapped back up as she blushed furiously. "Wha— n-no I'm not! Shut it Kuvira!"

Kuvira was chuckling as she had a smug grin. "You so were."

"Was not!"

"Was too."

Bolin's mouth was practically dropped to the floor in amazement. "Oh. My. Spirits. That wolf was a werewolf? More like Asami's wolf is the daughter of the chief! Oh my warlock!" He was losing it while everyone else was speechless.

Korra rubs her neck in embarrassment with a heavy blush on her cheeks before Tonraq finally clears his voice, catching their attention. "You can exchange pleasantries with my daughter later. I'd like to inform you about our situation, the sooner the better. As for you young lady," he turns his head to his daughter, "Go get changed."

Asami was certain that if she was in her wolf form, her ears would've hung low and her tail would've been tucked between her legs.

Blinking rapidly, Korra basically chirped out, "Y-Yes Chief!" At that last note, with a fur pelt wrapped around her body, she quickly passes the witches and warlocks to the door. Her cheeks were burning and she didn't dare to make eye contact with anyone let alone Asami.

Meanwhile, Kuvira is still giving Asami this smug, shit eating grin before Asami angrily smacks her leg using her foot. Keeping a blank expression, Kuvira smacks her back equally hard with her own. After an irritated glare and playful smirk later, they started focusing once Tonraq began his explanation.

"Like I was explaining earlier… the poachers…"

xXx

Getting settled into their guest room, Kuvira plopped down onto the mattress. "Phew, well that was insane. Heh all seriousness aside, what do you know, who would've thought that wolf of yours was the Chief's daughter! What a small world huh? The look on your face was priceless though bookworm, hah! Wish I brought a recording ball."

Opal lets out a playfully giggle as well. "And she was pretty cute too huh Asami?"

Asami's face becomes immediately flushed. "What are you two talking about! She's the Chief's daughter for christ sake! Keep your manners professional!"

Snorting at that comment, Kuvira rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure, miss I totally was checking her body out and especially them legs because mmh! I am so gay for fluffy wolves that transform into hot chicks!"

Asami would have exploded from embarrassment at this point if she could. "Am not!"

"Totally are!"

"Am not!" Asami defends before throwing her pillow at Kuvira.

She blocks it with her arm before leaning back on her bed. "Opal, you wanna make a bet?"

"Uu! On what?" She replies back a little too excitedly.

"Hey!"

Both of them ignore her cries. "Obviously whether or not Asami's gonna kiss Korra by the end of this trip." She flaps her hand at her, "She's thirstin for that wolf."

"Deal!"

Kuvira smirks. "I call a hot kiss on the lips."

Opal grabbed her chin in thought. "In that case, I call a kiss on the lips and a love bite."

"Wha— HEY!"

Since their beds were next to another, Kuvira leans over with a fist. "Deal."

Smiling back playfully, Opal tapped Kuvira's fist with her fist. "Cool."

At that, the two Beifong's turned and tucked themselves into their bed. They flicked off the lights leaving Asami standing alone in the dark with a conflicted look of betrayal, anger and embarrassment. She groans out loudly before hopping onto her bed as well.

"I hate you two."

xXx

Being the last of the witches to depart, Asami and Opal were heading for the Chief's hut right after their short debrief amongst the witches and warlock pack. Based on the poacher's numbers, it had been decided that both Mako and Bolin, accompanied by another tribesman, were to investigate the poacher's lead in the north. Kuvira, Jakka and another tribesman towards the east while the two of them were on their way to meet up with their partner for the west. By the time the two of them reached their destination, they happened to hear a conversation that was happening behind the fur pelt curtains.

"I know I know! I'll be fine on my own dad. I was just careless last time, that's all."

"You're lucky that you happened to run into Asami. Who knows what would've happened if she didn't treat you! If something horrible happened, both me and your mother would be devastated!"

"That's… I know… I'm really sorry dad, it won't happen again."

Tonraq sighs before continuing in a softer voice. "Honey… I know and trust that you'll do your best but just be careful okay?"

There was a brief pause, most likely from Korra nodding or such.

"On another note, have you even properly thanked that young witch yet? From what I could tell, none of those witches knew you were a shapeshifter. How long were you planning to keep it a secret?"

"That's—! I...I wasn't planning on keeping it a secret. It's just she found me in my wolf form and I couldn't find the right timing to change back you know…"

He huffs yet again. "Never mind that then, just be sure to thank her. Be safe out there, I'll be counting on you Korra."

"I will and thanks dad."

Asami and Opal straightened up for some reason before looking at each other. They felt like they shouldn't have heard that yet they did. Opal turns to Asami first before whispering in a panic.

"What should we do!"

Asami whispers back in an equally panicked voice. "I don't know!"

Before they could even move an inch, Korra finally pops out from the hut. She blinks before pausing at the two witches. "Oh— I uh… h-hey…" she gave them an awkward grin as she rubbed the back of her neck.

Opal slaps her friend's arm for some reason, mostly likely in a silent plea to speak first, while Asami finds herself frozen again. Her eyes couldn't help eye that toned arm of hers and trail up and down Korra's body again.

This was the first time she has seen Korra fully clothed and something about her attire hit differently. She was, as you'd expect, wearing southern water tribe clothes. She was wearing a sleeveless navy blue shirt with white edges paired with matching navy blue trousers accompanied with a fur pelt. Additionally, she was also wearing sleeve protectors that covered her hands up just past her elbows and boy oh boy did that show her off how muscular her arms were thanks to the tight fit.

After that delay, Asami registers Opal's tap and her thoughts accidentally slip out of her mouth.

"H-Hey! Wow you look good…" she just realized what she said and wanted to shoot herself. She coughs feeling like her cheeks are burning before she quickly follows up. "I-I mean you h-hi! Hi, n-nice to meet you finally! I uh… h-how's your leg! Uh… s-say! Why is your stomach white in your wolf form? That's been killing me since your hair's brown!" Well that wasn't any better.

Korra's shocked face made her realize what the hell she just said. Her face imploded and she quickly fumbled her hands forward.

"I-I-I mean— oh my sweet raava, what am I saying!" She snaps her face downward, unable to face Korra any longer. Ignoring her hot face, she tried restarting to save her face somehow. "S-Sorry. Let me start again." She clears her throat before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She then turns to face Korra before offering a hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Asami Sato, a witch from the Republic Witches Academy dispatched to help you on this mission."

Korra opens her mouth to say something before deciding to not. She simply smiles softly before accepting her handshake. "Nice to meet you too. I'm Korra, daughter of the Tonraq, Chief of the Southern Water Tribe." She releases her hand, ignoring that spark she felt, before turning to her companion.

She twitches upon her cue. "Likewise from the Republic Witches Academy, I'm Opal Beifong."

They shake hands as well before Korra takes the lead. "Well then shall we? We have a lot to cover and I would love to get some witches' opinions as well. I checked the forest out myself but there's something off that I can't quite pin my nose on. Not to mention…" she glances at Asami, "You know. Anyways…come on, there's a good amount to walk to reach our destination."

Soon enough, they were in the forest making their way around towards the target of interest. Of course, along the way they exchanged some friendly talk since they were close in age.

"Wow, so is it really true that werewolves—I mean shapeshifters, can't feel magic?"

Korra nods as she turns to face Opal. "Yes. That is correct but although we may not be able to feel it, we have our heightened senses to make up for it. Many shapeshifters like myself, felines and even rodents have an acute sense of smell. Because of that, we can pick up subtle differences that humans can't detect such as smell since we naturally have better senses than them."

"Hmm… I've read this all in textbooks and all but this is a first for me right Asami?"

"Of course!" Asami responds in a bright voice, "Shapeshifters are the best! Not only can they converse with us, they can also communicate with animals, right Korra?" Her eyes were practically sparkling as she looked over to the werewolf.

Feeling somewhat astonished, Korra was a little bit surprised by her enthusiasm. "Yeah that's right, although most of us can only understand what our own species say."

Asami cocked an eyebrow at that. "What do you mean by that?"

Korra hums with her face scrunched before explaining. "For example, I can't exactly understand what cats are saying but I can understand what dogs are saying for the most part since they're part of the canine family. Of course, it's not the same language as wolves per se. Hmm well you can say…" she tilts her head in thought, "They have a different dialect."

"Really?! That's amazing! I didn't know that." Asami turns to Opal with the biggest smile on her face. "You see, this is why I want our school to accept werestudents!"

Both Korra and Opal snorted for different reasons. They both give each other this look before noticing Asami's pout.

"What?"

Korra and Opal glance at each other again before responding at the same time.

"Werestudent?"

"Bookworm."

"Hey!" Asami gives Opal a sharp glare before ignoring her comment and turning back to Korra with a bright smile. "Yeah, shapeshifter is too long to say and there's more than just a werewolf or werecat so werestudent! Besides, it rolls off the tongue doesn't it?"

Korra blinks once before chuckling softly. "True. That's cute of you to say." Ducking a tree branch, she pushes it aside before stepping over a large tree trunk root. What she misses though was the blush on Asami's face.

Opal had a sleazy look on her face as she nudged Asami's arm. Asami bites back before engaging in a silent fight before Korra steps on a branch, coming to an abrupt stop. Her hand goes up with a single shush. She starts using hand gestures, warning the two of them that there was a group up ahead. They hid behind trees, far away enough so that they couldn't see them yet keep them in sight.

They were a decent sized group of ten people of various heights and different builds. Additionally, they had two canines with abnormally large metal collars around their necks. Upon seeing that, Korra gritted her teeth and let out a low groan. Both Asami and Opal flinch at this before Asami quickly grabs her fist to calm her down. Korra looks at her with an annoyed face at first but relaxes somewhat when she gives her a warm and reassuring smile.

"Don't worry, we'll save them but for now, we should follow them. Maybe they'll lead us to their hideout?" Asami states in a compromising gesture.

The werewolf didn't seem happy but yielded nonetheless. "Alright… as much as I'd like to help them now, this isn't the right time." She looks back at the poachers. "Let's go."

xXx

"I don't understand… Why do they have such advanced technology?" Opal looks over at Asami with a worried face, "Our academy doesn't even have those stasis guns available for the students."

Asami's face didn't look any better. "Those guns were meant to stop stampeding hordes or dangerous charges, not capture them!"

Korra was baring her fangs. "I don't know where they got them but they're gonna regret it. When I get my hands on them, I'll show them a thing or two!"

The three of them continued their pursuit, low and stealthily, as they were crouched behind a cliff-side. After following them in vain they approached a river. The roaring stream and waves crashing against the rocks made them conscious of this bizarre situation.

"What are they doing by the river?"

"Who knows but," Korra cracks her neck before grunting slightly. Shortly enough, her animal ears pop out at the top of her head with a tail flicking forward from the bottom of her shirt. Her eyes flicker somewhat before she continues her sentence, "we should prepare ourselves. I have a feeling that something is about to go down."

Opal blinks in surprise while Asami's mouth falls open as she gawks at Korra's transformation. She watched as her furry ear twitched before seeing her tail swipe left and right. Opening her mouth, she was about to ask about it but then decided not to because of their situation. However, to her surprise, Korra looks over at her briefly with a crooked grin.

"Half transformation. Half powers. Woo!" She jokes while throwing in a wink before turning back around at the criminals.

Asami blushes before she embarrassingly whispers out, "Wha— h-how'd you know?"

This time, Korra shrugs. "Bookworm right?"

Opal snorts before getting smacked by Asami's arm. "Ow! Hey!"

Her friend smacks her again but this time Korra laughs. Blushing even further, Asami felt her ears burn and she wanted to crawl into some hole or even chill herself in that raging river! That didn't sound so bad at this point, she'd be happy if someone ended her nerdy ass about now.

"Who's that?"

Her voice brings Asami out of her trance. "That's…" her eyes scrunched. "Damn, I can't see well from here."

Korra squints as if that would help her version. "Same here." She then turns to the two witches, "Let's get closer."

The three of them nod in agreement before carefully making their way closer. After somehow managing to get within a hundred feet radius, Korra crouched close to the ground with her ears perked up. They twitched slightly before she closed her eyes to concentrate. Her brows furrowed slightly and she tried relaying what they were saying as closely as possible.

"Shipment should be coming… five nuts, one berry and seven milks."

"What the heck are nuts, berries and milk?" Opal asks with suspicion as she faces her friend.

Asami just shrugs in response.

"Delay till sundown… viper wants new toys." Korra's ears twitch yet again, "They don't seem too happy about that." She finally turns to face them. "What should we do? I don't feel confidence in leaving them alone to get backup. So... if you're thinking what I'm thinking, who's up for camping?"

The two witches look at each other with a curious face before turning back at her.

"Did anyone bring smores?"

Korra grins brightly. "No but I do have some fish jerky and fruit buns."

xXx

"Asami…" Opal taps her shoulder, "Come on wake up!"

Twitching awake, she shot upright. "What?! Is it time to switch?"

She shakes her head, "No look!"

With a soft grunt, she forced herself to forget that sweet dream she had which was most definitely not about fluffy dogs and Korra in particular… definitely not. Speaking of Korra, when she looked in the direction of the poachers, Korra looked like she was about to snap. She was gritting her teeth in anger and before she could even ask, she saw the answer as to why.

"T-That's…"

Korra snaps a branch in place of a neck. "Five weapon boxes, one child and seven shapeshifters." The hairs on her arms stood up, she could tell they were shapeshifters a mile away. "Not only are these sick bastards selling weapons, they're fucking human trafficking!"

Asami squints at the logo on the crate. "Wait… isn't that… the Red Lotus' symbol?"

Opal's face grew pale. "But I thought they were shut down many years ago!"

"T-That should be the case but this is…"

"The Red Lotus? What's that?" Korra finally inquires as they continue on with their operation.

Asami scrunches her face in thought about how to explain it. "Mmh… in short a dark organization that deals with illegal trades such as this and partakes in dark magic for evil purposes."

Korra hums in understanding, "Say no more."

One nod later, she turns back around to Opal. "What should we do? I didn't think we'd find traces of the Red Lotus… Headmaster Tenzin is not gonna like us intercepting this alone…"

"But we have to do something Ope! Just look at those children, we have to help them!" Asami asserts with dire in her voice.

"I know! I just… don't want something to go wrong."

Korra finally interrupts, "Well… you can say that I ordered you to help me."

The two witches look at her funnily.

"What? I am the daughter of the Southern Chief, I have some power."

Asami thought back to the meeting they initially had when she was introduced to her so-called secret. She remembered Korra's soft whimpering as a wolf and the way her tail tucked between her legs. Cute she thought. It was only after Korra gave her a look that made her focus. "Yeah. See." She harmlessly swats her hand in Opal's direction. "We'll be fine."

Opal seemed somewhat skeptical but nevertheless, she wasn't the type to sit by and do nothing either. "Alright alright, let's hurry and finish this up before it gets too late."

Her friend smiles back. "That's the spirit!"

While the two of them had been talking, Korra had her eyes closed, deep in thought. Her ears were folded and her tail swiping softly back and forth. It was just when the two of them had finished their conversation that she perked up.

"I got it!" She gets closer to them, "So here's the plan…"

The two witches got closer to her, diligently listening to her plan.

"And that's about it. What do you think? Asami and I will be decoys while Opal will set the child free. I'm not quite sure what type of magic you use but you seem to have the lightest footsteps between us all." Korra states as she looks at Opal with an inquiring face.

Opal nods in agreement. "That sounds perfect and how'd you know? I specialize in wind magic which is usually the quietest of the four elements."

The werewolf gave her a soft smile. "Not sure how to explain it but you smell somewhat light and fresh?"

"What?" The both of them said at the same time.

"We smell like our elements?" Opal expresses with clear confusion in her voice.

Asami scrunched her brow, "What do I smell like then?"

Korra glances over at Asami before smiling softly. She ignores her question before starting in a slightly serious voice. "Before we start our mission, I wanted to apologize to you Asami."

Her face scrunched even more. "For how I smell?"

"Pfft—" Korra covered her mouth, "No, not that." She shakes her head softly, "I wanted to apologize to you for lying about my wolf form. I didn't mean to lie to you and not transform back when I could. It was just… hard and awkward you know? Even so… I should've told you because I might have hurt you by pretending to be something that I couldn't be."

"Oh…" Asami finally realized what she meant. "That's…" she wasn't sure how to phrase it but responded nonetheless. "It's okay, I forgive you." Her eyes narrowed down sadly on the floor. "I know I don't have talent for summoning familiars… maybe I will one day and maybe I won't. I still haven't completely given up my hopes and I'm not gonna lie, it was fun being with you. It made me wonder if that was what you'd feel if you had one."

"Asami…" Opal frowns at her friend's sadness.

"..." Korra remained silent at her words as she focused on Asami's solemn expression.

Asami started rubbing her arm nervously. "I just… I enjoyed our time together so you don't have to apologize for lying to me. Sure I was surprised when I found out you were part human but that doesn't change the warm feeling I felt." She grasped her chest before looking Korra in the eyes. "So thank you, once again, I enjoyed our time together."

Korra opened her mouth but words failed to come out. After a second, she decided to say this one last phrase with a smile. "You're welcome."

Looking into each other's eyes, they exchanged a warm moment before Opal cleared her throat. "Sorry to interrupt but we should hurry. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this…"

Letting out a low growl, Korra faces the poachers. "You're right. Let's go."

xXx

"Huh? I-Intrud—"

With one hard smack, Korra knocked out the criminal before immediately snapping forward to his friend. Running straight for his neck, Korra lunges and right when he turns, he helplessly yelps before shooting back a misfire. Two down and at that, the commotion finally alerts the rest of the bunch and at that point, Asami had also begun her attack.

Eight remaining with their two hounds.

"Attack attack!" A man barks before distant howling sounds off.

Korra firmly stood her ground and once she made eye contact with the two canines, she gave them an intimidating glare of authority, causing them to falter and whimper. She growled with some of her fangs showing before glaring at the rest of the bunch.

"What are you doing you stupid manging muts! Attack I said!"

She snarled a low yet deep growl. She takes a heavy step before her eyes glow under the moonlight. Snapping her fingers outwards, they cracked before her murderous aura slipped out to the point that even the human could feel it.

"You better watch that tongue of yours. Know your place human. You have no business enslaving my kind and even a human nonetheless." The twig snaps beneath her feet as a wicked grin creeps upon Korra's cold face. "You have two options. A, a painful surrender or B, suffer a painful defeat."

He froze up in confusion. "W-Wha— aren't those the same—"

In the blink of an eye, Korra was in front of him. On the second blink, she punched his face, following up with a gut jab and a knee to the face. To finish that off, she mercilessly jammed her elbow downwards, knocking him out for good. She takes a stoic stance before tilting her head.

"Who said it was going to be painless?"

"AAARHHHHH!"

Glancing towards the source of the sound, Korra blinks before smirking. "At a girl."

"O fulgur, audi vocem meam et impetum!"

With a snap of her fingers, a bright, long, horizontal spark shot out from the tip of Asami's fingers, electrifying her opponent till he dropped. She quickly pivots on the riverside before running head straight into another guy. He yells while charging at her and once side by side, Asami immediately ducks, swiping his feet beneath him. Quickly following up on her move, She grabs his arm, yanking it backwards, dislocating his arm with a snap.

"AAHHHH!"

Asami quickly shoves him aside before axe kicking him. He drops with a loud thud before she faces forward and rushes to her next opponent. Laughing excitedly, Korra turns towards her next opponent. With punches and kicks being thrown left and right, poachers began to drop left and right. Soon enough amidst the fight and turmoil, a metallic creaking cracks open. The cages containing the captives became unlocked and Opal finally made her dramatic appearance.

"I got it!" She began trying to lead them to safety. "Come it's okay… you're okay, I'm here to help you."

The majority of the captives were shaking in fear, reluctant to leave their prison. Opal did her best to give them a warm smile.

"I got you all, don't worry…"

As she slowly reaches for the young child's hand, a loud barking interrupts their moment, making them cower back in the cage.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!"

A rugged man with a face full of scars emerges from a tent. He looked somewhat drunk or high on something but nonetheless had the imitation of a leader. Asami was the closest to him so she was the one who went to subdue him. He looked more increasingly furious upon seeing the state of his camp, or, the lack of his men doing their jobs.

"What the fuck are these shit heads doing? I paid them to protect the cargo not get beat by fucking bitches!" He screams with a voice filled with rage.

"Cargo?" Asami repeats with equal amounts of anger. "You call selling children cargo!"

He spits on the floor. "Cargo is cargo missy and you've messed with the wrong people." He pulls out a modified gun, different from anything she has ever seen. He grins cockily before pointing it at her, "Say hello to my little friend."

Feeling chills crawl up her spine, Asami ducks to the side, narrowly dodging the bullet after a loud pop. Even so, she wasn't one to forfeit the fight unless she knew she couldn't win. Raising her hand to her lips, she began a chant.

"Spiritus lucis, audi vocem meam, audi vocem meam, et fulgura tua ferant justitiam ad malum!" Snapping her fingers forward, she shot a lightning bolt forward, aiming right for his torso.

Mildly surprised, he manages to dodge the attack before getting back up and intercepting her attack. "Spiritus ignei eam oppugnant." A large ball of fire bursts from the palm of his hand, erupting towards Asami.

"Asami!" Korra shouts from afar before ducking at the poacher's attack.

Gritting her teeth, Asami avoids taking the brunt of the attack but gets singed on the arm. She braces her wound before angrily shouting at him. "You're a warlock? Why? Why! Why are you doing this? How could you! The spirit's powers are meant to protect the weak, not enslave them!"

He starts playing with the spirit's fire in his hand. "Protect them? Sorry to break the news but that doesn't feed lives honey. You know yourself, not all warlocks and witches are gifted with the oh so great kingdom's payroll." He finally gives her an up and down look, "Ah… I get it, you're from the academy. How is old Tenzie doing with his stuck up selfless preaching ass."

That made it worse. "You were an alumni? You went to the academy yet you choose to side with the wicked?"

He scoffed. "You'd be surprised by how much they pay for people like us. Now that is how you treat us gifted ones." He raises the gun, "And you get to play with toys like these too."

Without further notice, he began shooting at Asami, making her go on the defense. Amidst her trouble, Korra finally manages to finish off the rest of the scraps before rushing to her side. However, she was one step too late. Opal's mouth fell open before she screamed for her comrade's name.

"Asami!"

Korra felt as if the world was moving in slow motion. One second, Asami parried off his attack, the next was shot near her neck and staggering towards the river. She grunts before casting one last spell, hitting the leader with light in general as he had done the same. They both jolted back from the impact however, Asami was close by the coursing river. Unable to catch her foothold, she stumbles back before falling into the dark, raging rapids.

"ASAMIIII!"

Shouting at the top of her lungs, Korra transformed before sprinting at full speed and diving into the coursing river. She quickly shifts back and witnesses Asami struggling to catch her bearing before slamming into a large boulder. She immediately loses her breath before sinking into the unforgiving stream. Following after her, Korra swam as fast as she could, trying to not lose sight of her before briefly ascending to take a breath before diving back in.

After fighting the current for a short yet long moment of time, Korra managed to catch her arm. She quickly pulls her in and brings her head above the water. Holding her from under her chest, she swims to the river side before dragging her body out. Asami's clothes immediately soak up the surrounding dirt and Korra ignored her bare yet dripping skin before checking for breath. She leaned down closer to her mouth before hearing nothing.

"Shit!"

She immediately took a deep breath before giving Asami some air. She began her chest compressions before asserting the area she had gotten shot at, right around her collar bone. Blood was spewing out from her wound and there was this weird smell that was mixed in with her scent but getting her to breathe was her priority.

"Come on, come on…"

She took another breath before tilting her head back and giving her another breath. Asami's face was pale and there was something wrong with her besides her lack of breath. After a moment of giving her CPR, Asami finally coughs up water before wincing in pain. Korra sighs in relief before quickly ripping open her shirt. Her nose scrunches from the putrid scent.

"What the fuck…"

Her eyes shimmer beneath the moonlight as she closed in for a closer look. The bullet was lodged into her collarbone and the bleeding wouldn't cease.

"Shit…"

She rips off a piece of fabric from Asami's sleeve before bundling it up and climbing on top of her. Tightly holding down her body, she wrung out some water before shoving it between Asami's teeth. She had this gut feeling that that bullet needed to get out, now. It smelled foul and poisonous and if she didn't act now, she'd most likely lose her life. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath before opening them again. Bringing her fingers up to the gun wound, she frowns at Asami's pained face.

"I'm sorry Asami."

Jabbing her fingers into Asami's body, she immediately screams and bites down in pain. Her body squirms at the crude and violent extraction as Korra grunts in concentration. Shortly enough, Korra manages to dig out the bullet and tosses it aside. Her animal instincts couldn't help but snarl at the poison. However, she quickly ignores it before Asami's condition. The area she ripped it out from looked as if it was infected with purple miasma, spreading slowly through her body.

"No… No no no no! Asami!"

Korra quickly changes her position before sucking out the poison. Spitting out that vile substance, she bit down hard, trying to get out every last drop. Asami squirms as she agonizes in pain. Her world had blacked out and she felt beyond nauseous and sick.

"You'll be okay…"

She sucked hard before spitting out her tainted blood.

"You'll be okay, I got you…"

Her consciousness was slipping as she faded out, hearing Korra's whispers of comfort.

"I'll save you. I won't let you die."

xXx

Sucking in a hard breath, Asami shriveled in pain. Her body was screaming and she felt unbelievably disorientated. The first thing she wanted to do was throw up. It was hard to breathe and she couldn't open her eyes. Nonetheless, the urge was too strong and she managed to tilt her head before letting out a painful hurl. She vaguely felt someone assisting her vomiting and she coughed violently before somewhat feeling a soothing pat on her back. Her shoulder was killing her and it felt as if someone tore off her arm.

She gasps for air before curling up in pain. It hurt to breathe and her eyes were burning from the tears caused by her convulsion. Sucking in some painful breaths, she tried forcing her eyes open. Her lips shakily parted before she managed to rasp out:

"Fuck…"

She could vaguely see someone's silhouette before trying to decipher what they were saying.

"…mi…our…wak…ar…y…kay…?"

She breathed some haggard breaths, slightly better than before. Her lungs still felt as if they were on fire but the pain was starting to become somewhat bearable. She sucked in some breaths before coughing and grunting in agony. She blinks again, trying to focus her sight before guessing who was by her side.

"O…pal…?"

She closed her eyes before feeling as if her world was spinning. It was as if her body was falling into nothingness and she couldn't bear it any longer. None of her questions had been answered and she had fainted before she could even try to ask.

Her body twitches yet again, rousing her from her deep sleep. She groans in her inability to feel anything besides pain. Her body was heavy and it felt as if she was being crushed by some boulder or even got hit by a truck. At least this time around it was slightly easier to breathe and what do you know? This time she managed to open her eyes. Her sight was still somewhat fuzzy but at least this time she could recognize that she was in some room.

A room that looked a little too familiar…

She groaned to herself before attempting to look around and confirm her suspicions. To her right, the walls are white. In front of her, the walls were white. To her left, there were some windows but the walls were still white and at last but not least, the ceiling was white.

Meaning… she was in the hospital.

Her foot twitches in an attempt to move. After a futile attempt, she came to the conclusion she was glued to this bed whether she liked it or not. Her eyebrows furrow as she begins regaining her thoughts. After a moment of processing, she twitches in the realization.

Korra! What happened to Korra? And Opal? Are they okay? What happened to the kids?

Her heart began thumping hard and some radar started going off. It wasn't long until someone barged into her room.

"Asami?!"

They ran over to check her vitals before realizing she was awake.

"Asami! You're awake! Thank goodness!" She exasperated in relief.

Squinting her eyes, Asami tried figuring out who it was. Her eyes still had a hard time focusing but she figured it out from their reactions and general body profile.

"You made us really worried. Geez, both you and Korra had us sweating."

Her mouth parted slightly and she was planning on asking a lot of questions, which she thought she had, but there was only one phrase that escaped her lips:

"Kor…ra's?"

Her doctor looks at her in disbelief.

"My word, you almost died and the first thing you care about is Korra? I watched her grow up myself so I understand why since she's reckless but still…" she gives Asami a warm yet sullen smile. "Take better care of yourself okay? I don't like seeing you here." She softly taps her forehead, "As for Korra, she is alive."

That answer gave her some comfort but that wasn't the one she was looking for. What do you mean by…

Thankfully, she read her mind.

"Korra's in critical condition just like you. When she extracted the poison from your shoulder, she swallowed some by accident as well. Of course… she is recovering faster than most humans but still, she is kept under watch just like you. And also, before you ask, Opal and the kids you saved are fine."

Sighing in relief, that took some weight off of her shoulders.

"But enough at that," she stands up to tuck Asami into bed. "Just focus on getting better okay? Your friends are worried."

"…"

"The poison is out of your system so you just need to focus on recovering, understood young lady? None of your analyzing and dissecting about what happened. Just relax. Leave everything to us."

Asami had to fold. As much as she would've liked to ponder on what happened, her body was screaming otherwise.

"T…anks…Kya…"

"Any time Asami, just get some rest."

The third time Asami opened her eyes, she finally felt somewhat functional. Fortunately she could see clearly although her body still aches like a bitch. She groans in pain before checking to see if she still had her limbs. Wiggling her toes and then her fingers, she sighs in relief to feel that they were still attached to her. Once that was covered, she tried moving her body.

They still felt like led and as if someone had sawed off portions of her skin but still, it was moveable. At this, Asami groaned softly as she carefully looked down at her body. Yup. Once again she was still in one piece. Slowly bringing up her hand, she began reaching up for her neck. It took some time but she made it to the portion of her body that caused the most agony.

Her collarbone.

She felt an extensive amount of bandages and when she applied pressure, it hurt like a bitch.

"Ow ow… fuck…"

The door slid open and a friendly voice gasped. "Oh my spirits! You're awake!"

She begrudgingly looked towards the door. Somewhat smiling, she called for her friend's name. "Hey… Opal…"

She was fighting back her tears. "Hey Asami," she sniffles. "I was worried about you! You know how shocked I was when Korra came back with you in her arms and you were bleeding out!"

Her eyebrow twitches. "I was… in her arms…?" The thought of Korra carrying her makes her cheeks feel warm.

"Girllll, don't even get me started!" Opal walks over, swatting her hand, before turning on the switch on her bed to get her sitting upright and plopping down on a seat next to her. "I wasn't even sure what to be shocked about. It was really troublesome okay! After you two disappeared on me, I was trying to help those kids and then once they were kind of settled, Korra came back all naked and shit and then you were dripping blood like crazy! I was seriously panicked man! And then—"

Her jaw drops. "W-Wha— what do you mean naked?!"

Opal gives her the 'really' look. "Obviously because she transformed into a wolf to chase after you. She was pretty far from the river when you fell, you know, it's not like TV shows where your clothes transform with you." She swats her hand again, "But anyways, are you even listening to me! You. Were. Dripping. With. Blood! That scared the shit out of me! We were hustling back to the camp and when we arrived, Korra fainted too! Spirits, it was a nightmare!" She groans, reliving the memory to her dismay.

Asami snapped her head at that statement but immediately regretted that decision. "Mrgh… ow ow ow… fuck… but— K-Korra fainted?" She vaguely remembered Kya saying that she was alive but that didn't specify if she was okay. "I-Is she okay?!"

Opal winces at that. "Right… uh… where should I start?"

xXx

"I still can't believe I've been sleeping for fifteen days…" Asami expresses as Opal pushes her towards Korra's room via wheelchair.

"Yeah. We were really worried, you know… you woke up from time to time but we didn't know if you were coherent enough for much. Thankfully though, thanks to Korra's fast thinking, we were able to isolate the poison and the medical department is working for a cure and all but still, if it weren't for Korra extracting the poison, you would've died."

That still didn't help her frown. "But still… because of me, Korra's sick too."

"Hey… don't say it like that. Shapeshifters heal faster than us humans. We may be witches and warlocks but we are still fragile like them. Korra's been more conscious than you. She says she's fine but really exhausted. Most of her time here is spent sleeping and we're keeping her in the hospital to keep an eye on her that's all. You're the one who was the most hurt."

"Maybe that's the case but still… I…"

Opal carefully pats her wound-less shoulder, "Once you see her I know you'll change your mind. It's quite a cute sight to see."

Asami cocks an eyebrow at that. "What's that supposed to mean—"

Her question was answered before Opal could respond. They entered her room and the first thing she saw was Korra tucked beneath a blanket. Specifically, she was curled in a small ball and more specifically she was her wolf form. It was the cutest shit ever and Asami was most definitely swooning. By default, she almost accidentally let out a squeal of admiration but stopped herself and was immediately reminded how much her body hated her.

"See? Cute right."

It felt as if she just got punched in the gut and even winded for no apparent reason but nevertheless, she managed to muster out a single word. "Y-Yeah…"

Opal leans down to whisper into her ear. "And don't worry, I've taken a lot of photos on your phone! A little get well gift so enjoy it when you can. Asami was about to say something along the lines of 'Opal how could you!' or even 'that's an invasion of privacy!' but then the only sentence that did come out was a soft, "Thank you."

Her friend whispers back, "Your welcome." She starts pushing her forward, "Now come on, let's appreciate her cuteness closer. You can probably pet her too. When I did that early she was still knocked out cold."

"…"

Asami hesitated to reach for Korra but in the end, she gave in and softly patted her head. It was still as soft as she remembered.

"Say… why is she in her…?"

Opal answered the question before she could finish asking it. "Shapeshifters conserve more energy this way."

Humming softly, Asami grunted when she felt a sharp pain coursing through her body. She pulls back her arm but in the process wakes up Korra.

"Oh looks like she's up."

Korra's eyes slowly open and she blinks before her eyes widen upon seeing Asami. She immediately sits up and whines slightly before hoping down from her bed and poking at her hand. Her ears were drooping downwards as her tail remained tucked between her legs like she was ashamed of being unable to protect her. I'm sorry…

Asami smiles as she gets lost in those ocean blue eyes. "I'm okay, a little bruised here and there but I can manage." That was clearly a lie. Honestly, it was painful enough as it was to speak, let alone full sentences. Even so, how could she resist her wolf? "Thank you for saving me Korra… I owe you one." She weakly scratches the back of her ear. "Are you alright? I heard you got hurt because of me…"

Shaking her head furiously, Korra huffs before licking her hand in comfort. After Asami giggles, she nuzzles her head on the palm of her hand before resting her head on her lap. She pants happily while wagging her tail to inform her that she was fine. Totally good!

She smiles warmly. "I'm glad you're safe…"

Korra nuzzles Asami's lap before letting out a teary yawn. Her wagging tail slows down and she plops down her face on her lap.

Letting out a cheerful huff, Asami cups her face. "Sorry, you must be tired. I'll let you go back to sleeping alright?"

She lets out a single, soft woof.

Rustling her head one last time, she turns to Opal. "Let's go, I don't want to keep her waiting."

Opal nods before looking Korra in the eyes. "Bye Korra! I'll see you later!"

Korra softly barks again before hopping back onto the bed. She waits until they're out of her room before diving back under her blanket for another nap. Her ears twitch and she lies down before closing her eyes. Man I'm tired…

xXx

Approximately a little more than three weeks have passed since the two of them had been hospitalized. Of course, Korra was the first one to get discharged with Asami following about a week after. Given that she was still recovering from her injuries, staying bed ridden wasn't quite her style. She was starting to get cabin fever since she stopped sleeping as much, so after persistent begging, Kya gave her the go to get discharged.

As Asami carefully pulled a loose tee shirt over her head, she winced in pain before managing to slip her arm through the hole. "Ow ow ow… geez…"

One grunt later, she's face to face with her reflection in the mirror.

"..."

She eyes the heavy bandage at the base of her neck, specifically her left collar bone, where Korra had apparently sucked out the poison. Her face grew red when she remembered the bite marks that were still present.

There were a lot.

"Asami, you ready?" Opal calls out from outside.

That jolts her back to reality. "Y-Yeah! Coming!"

Once she was out, Opal was carrying her go pack for her. She winks before nodding at the door. "Sorry. The others wanted to come to but with what went down at the forest, they've been busy with the follow up. Lots of digging to be done, you know?"

Asami nods in understanding. "I get it, no worries. I was happy that they even visited here and there and even brought me books! I swear, sitting alone in a hospital bed is the most boring and loneliest thing when you're stuck in bed…"

"True…" she opens the door for her friend. "How's the neck?" She points at her own for emphasis. "Any pain?

She hums before answering in a question tone. "Well… my body is still sore. As for my neck… it might be a little scarred…?"

"Scarred?" Opal repeats with an equally questionable voice.

"Yeah… I guess when Korra bit me, her adrenaline must've been running or something. Kya said it was a pretty deep bite."

"Hmm…" after a second, she smirks at the realization. "I guess I win the bet then."

"What?" This time Asami gives her a deadpan look. "What bet?"

"The one with Kuvira of course." She expands further when Asami gives her the dumb look. "You know, the one about you and Korra kissing. Before we left on the mission…"

"Wha—" she had some sort of recollection, "We did not kiss!" She defends with enough oomph to make grunt in pain.

"Oh honey, please. Korra gave you CPR, remember? You almost drowned in that river and she left a nice, big and clear mark on your neck so I win! Haha, now I get to rub it in Kuvira's face."

"Those were life and death situations though!"

"Still counts~"

She groans in frustration. "You two are impossible."

"Says the one who's whipped for a werewolf!"

"Hey, I am not—"

"Heyyy!" A familiar voice calls out, "I came to pick you two up!"

They look at the source and low and behold, it was Korra with that bright smile of hers. She looked ten times better than before and for some reason, she was carrying a duffel bag.

"Whipped for…" Asami repeats as she watches her come closer.

Korra makes it in front of the two in no time and she makes a crooked grin before saying. "Guess who's gonna temporarily transfer into your school to investigate the forest incident!"

"No way!" Opal lit up brightly before going for a high five. "Shut up!"

"Yes way!" She reciprocated the high five before continuing her turn of events. "My dad talked about it with Tenzin and then after this and that, it was decided that I would transfer in for a bit until we get to the bottom of this. Think of it as a continuation of our witch and shifter alliance!"

Opal snapped her fingers. "Wait, does that mean you'll be at our academy for a long time then…"

"Yup." Korra shrugs, "Don't know until when but that's the plan. Now then, you two ready?"

Asami was still frozen and it looked like she was buffering some thoughts. It wasn't until Opal nudged her arm and leaned into her ear to whisper that snapped her out of it.

"Seeee, whipped."

Her face grew red and she angrily swatted her arm before regretting it. "Spirits… you're insufferable…"

Korra cocks her head in confusion. "Uh…"

Opal laughs before rushing ahead and grabbing a hold of Korra's arm. "Don't worry it's nothing. Come on, let's hurry and go home! I'm tired of seeing white walls all the time."

She simply shrugs before following along. "Sounds good to me."

Asami watched the two of them head for the front door while she gawked at them in disbelief. "You've got to be kidding me…" she groans before perking up at Korra's voice.

"Asami! You coming?"

Her mouth opened slightly and she had a flashback to back when she saw the wolf in the forest that one day. Getting lost in those clear blue eyes once again, she forfeited before smiling softly and following after her friends.

"Yeah. I'm coming, let's go home."
