Authors Note: Here we go with Chapter 2. Now i just want to mention that we don't know the exact time JJ was away from the BAU in the series but we know it had to have been a year or so, which in my opinion is too long for my story so I'm cutting it down a bit. I'm not going into that much detail on his time at the pentagon as that could be a whole story in of itself. Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading up to here! ~ Levi

It would end up being roughly 3 months that Reid would be stationed at the Pentagon and away from the BAU. Although 3 months doesn't seem like that long, in Reid's head it felt like an eternity since he last saw his families. Families being everyone at the BAU and, more important to him, his family living in in Dale City, Virginia. JJ and Henry.

His first day at the Pentagon he realized that the whole "Department of Defense" was just a coverup for why he was actually transferred. It turns out he was joining a task force in Afghanistan, in search of Bin Laden. During his time in Afghanistan he started learning a lot of new things. Lots of do's and don'ts. He knew when he returned to the BAU he would be a changed man.

In those 3 months Reid was away things weren't that much better for the agents at the BAU either. The whole team spending those months pissed off and depressed, missing their resident genius.

No one was more upset than JJ tho, of course. She was the first to get upset over hearing the news and storm into Strauss's office the very next day, questioning her decision. Her anger almost cost JJ her job and it took some smooth talking from Rossi to calm Strauss down enough for her not to make any rash decisions toward JJ. Emily and Garcia were the ones who were in charge of calming JJ down reminding her it wasn't Strauss's decision and there was nothing that could be eventually calmed down enough to keep working but she was still upset about the whole situation.

Morgan was probably next in line for most upset person, trailing behind JJ and Hotch. Reid was practically Morgan's little brother he never had growing up. Even after all the teasing and picking on he did, Reid was still the first person Morgan was willing to take a bullet for, as any big brother would. Morgan would miss trying to help Reid out on the girls because that was something Morgan could confidently say he knew more on than Reid.

Emily tried going to her husband, Hotch to see if there was anything he could do to get Reid back but unfortunately Hotch had no say in the matter and couldn't do anything about it, admitting he's tried several times. Emily was sad because although she didn't know Reid as long as JJ, Hotch and Morgan, she still found a friend in him who she could talk to when feeling down or about anything to get her mind off topic. Sometimes she would even forget he was gone and talk to his empty desk chair only to look up and realize she was talking to a ghost.

Garcia and Rossi were upset with Reid being taken from them but not as much as the four other agents were and helped cope with them the best they could. They all practically took Reid for granted and now that he was gone, it felt like a part of all of them was gone as well.

One weekend, roughly 2 months into Reid's departure JJ invited everyone over to her house so they could relax from a stressful couple weeks. It was noon time when everyone was chilling in her kitchen and living room.

"Mommy?"

"Yes Henry?" JJ said to Henry, currently making him lunch.

"Do you know when Uncle Spence will come back?" Henry said quietly.

"No Henry, I don't know when Spence will come back, but he will come back soon." I hope JJ thought.

"I miss him."

"I do too Henry, so much." JJ said giving Henry a quick hug before letting him go to go back playing with Morgan.

"How are you taking this JJ? Being away from Reid?" Emily asked, sitting behind the counter on the island in JJ's kitchen.

"I honestly don't know how, i try not to think about it too much or else i start to get all emotional." JJ said with a sad chuckle as she was cutting up an apple for Henry.

"It's going to be okay JJ, Reid will come back and we will be one big happy family again." Emily replied trying to brighten her spirits.

"Thanks Em. I hope you're right."

"Hey JJ? Um.. Henry has a question for you and I told him its best that you were the best one to answer it." Morgan said walking from the living room behind Henry.

JJ raised her eyebrow at Morgan wondering what was going on and then looked at Henry. "Of course Henry what's your question." She said as she lifted henry up and on his seat by the counter.

"Can you have more than one daddy?"

Now it was Emily's turn to raise an eyebrow, intrigued by the way this conversation was going.

"Yes of course you can Henry, what made you think of this question.

"Me and Uncle Morgan were talking about Jack and made me think of his two mommys" Henry replied eating a apple slice JJ cut him.

"Well Jack's mommy is in heaven and later on Hotch decided to marry Auntie Emily." JJ replied

"I want to have a second daddy." Henry said.

"Well who would you want to be your new Daddy Henry?" JJ questioned. Now Morgan and Emily were at the edge of their seats waiting for the answer although they already had a slight idea who.

"Uncle Spence!" Henry cheered.

JJ froze staring at her son while Emily and Morgan were laughing at Henry's admission. It was Emily who brought her back down to earth when she let a short chuckle escape her lips. JJ turned almost angrily toward her.

"This is your fault." JJ said playfully.

"My fault?" Emily gasped between her laughing.

"If you never married Hotch I wouldn't be in this predicament."

"Oh please." Emily countered back equally as playful.

"Reid isn't even here to appreciate this conversation." Morgan said breaking up the banter between the 2 girls.

"I know, I wish we knew when he would be coming back from the DOD." Emily said stealing a slice of apple from Henry's plate.

"Me too Em." Morgan responded back a bit sad.

JJ however was drawn away slightly from the conversation and was now staring at one of her favorite pictures of Reid and Henry. It was one she sneakily took of them a few months ago with Reid sitting on the couch asleep with Henry curled up next to him, a protective arm around his waist. She never knew how much she loved seeing Reid interact with Henry. She thought how they were the family she never knew she wanted until she met Reid.

"Hey JJ everything alright?" Emily said noticing JJ lost in thought.

"Oh yeah I'm fine, just thinking about how much i miss Spence." JJ said still looking at the photo. "This is the longest me and him have been apart since Ive known him."

"I know Jayge but just think about all the memories you three have and remember that this transfer isn't permanent. He'll be back soon."

"I hope so." She replied back.

"Alright, all this Reid talk is making me sad and i don't like it. Henry finish up eating your lunch and clean up. I am demanding we go to the park to relieve some pent up stress." Emily almost ordered.

"Park! I wanna go on the monkey bars!" Henry said happily.

"We will bud but make sure one of us is near you when you go on them so we can catch you if you fall." Morgan said throwing his empty plate in the trash.

JJ looked at the photo one last time and sent up a silent prayer to whoever would listen.

Please come home to me baby. I'm dying without you. Even though you are out of sight, i promise you will never be out of mind. I love you Spence.

Her wish would unknowingly come true in the month to come.
