Julian and Myles were quick to Vic's bar the next morning. They really wanted to find out if Vic had chosen someone. If not, Julian and Myles could always do something for him. They found Vic slumped over the table they had left him at last night. Must have fallen asleep over the choice.

"Vic?" Julian said quietly.

Vic woke up with a start. He soon calmed down when he saw his friends in front of him. He smiled weakly as they sat down across from him.

"Sorry about that." Julian said.

"Don't worry. I needed to wake up anyway. We will probably open soon." Vic looked at his watch.

"So have you chosen someone?" Myles asked hopefully.

"I have. It might have taken all night but I've finally chosen." Vic sounded confident.

"Good. Who is it?" Julian asked.

"Kira." Vic told them.

"But she didn't perform. I thought she didn't want to do it?"

"Well I talked to her last night and I think she's the right choice."

"Well we'd better go and tell her." Julian said as the holosuite doors opened with Odo.

"Odo." Vic welcomed him in.

Odo pulled up a chair to sit on. He had heard all about last night with Vic and Kira. He just hoped that something good came out of it. By the looks on the three mens faces however, it didn't look like it was going to be bad news.

"I came to see how Kira did last night. I heard she performed with you." Odo said.

"She did. She did very well." Vic nodded.

"I'm glad to hear it. She wouldn't stop talking about it this morning when I went up to ops. I left Ezri with her to try and calm her down!" Odo exclaimed.

The four men laughed out loud when Odo said this. Kira never really talked and talked about something so when she did, it must have meant something big. True Ezri was a big talker so could probably deal with all that even if it was early in the morning.

Ezri was still only sort of awake as Kira started to talk about last night. Odo had said to her that Kira had something important to say. If only he had told her how much Kira was going to say.

"I mean I don't think I've ever done a performance like that." Kira continued to say.

"Kira, can I stop you there? It's just I have a lot of work to do and you're kind of driving me insane!" Ezri said kindly.

"Have I been talking that much?" Kira smiled.

"Yeah. Sorry." Ezri nodded.

Kira left her friend to get on with her work. Nog however, looked somewhat interested in what she was saying. Vic was a good friend, and whenever he did a duet with someone it normally was quite a thing.

"I can't believe you did a duet with Vic!" Nog said as Kira came over.

"I know. He just made me feel really comfortable when doing it and it just worked I guess." Kira smiled widely.

"Did he say anymore about the talent show?"

"Not really. He's made a decision but that's all he said."

"I wonder who he's chosen."

"Someone good apparently. Maybe your father is going to be there next week." Kira joked.

"Not after those jokes he's not!" Nog scoffed.

"They weren't that bad!"

Nog just gave Kira a glance which told her that he did not agree with her one bit. Kira wasn't in the mood for fighting so didn't disagree with him. She just got about her work instead to take her mind off it for a few hours. She was sure they would hear about it sooner or later.

Rom sat silent in the bar. He hated last night and felt like everyone was just making fun of him. That applause he got hadn't been very nice. A few laughs here and there but not as many as he had expected. Quark had seen Rom like this before and knew it was going to be a while before Rom was his normal self again.

"Come and help me with this table Rom." Quark called.

"Can't I just stay here for a little longer?" Rom muttered.

Quark sighed and went over to his brother. He knew how cruel some people could be and some people definitely showed that last night.

"Hey, don't listen to them. I thought you were brilliant last night and I think that matters most." Quark put an arm around Rom's shoulders.

"Did you really think so?" Rom asks.

"Yes I do."

"Thanks Quark. That means a lot. I might go and see Vic later even if I don't win." Rom nodded.

"Alright just don't get too offended when you don't win. There were a lot of good acts." Quark muttered somewhat so Rom couldn't hear.

"I won't." Rom responded hearing the mutter.

Quark nodded and left to go back to work. Rom smiled to himself and then went back to work himself. Vic would say something nice as well so at least some people might support him.

"Come in." Sisco said as his door pinged.

The door opened with Admiral Ross on the other side. Sisco went to stand up but was waved back down again by Ross. Ross took the seat across from Sisco.

"I hope the talent show went well. The hologram chosen who he wants to perform." Ross enquired.

"Vic has sir, yes. Well that's what Kira has been shouting about all morning." Sisco chuckled.

"Good. Well I'm afraid I need all hands on deck. The Klingons won but at a very bad cost. They need some support." Ross told.

"Alright I'll tell the crew of the Defiant and we'll go and give a hand." Sisco replied reluctantly.

"Thanks Ben and congratulate the winner for me." Ross reminded him.

"I will do sir." Sisco said as the intercom for the station turned on.

"Attention attention. We now have the winner of last night's talent show. Well done to everyone who took part and the winner is Major Kira." Julian's voice sounded.

Ross nodded at Sisco and then left towards his ship which had been docked. Sisco smiled to himself as Kira's name was revealed as the winner. He knew how much that would mean to Kira to win. He then got about telling the crew of the Defiant that they were needed elsewhere. He just had to decide what to do about Kira. He then called for her. Kira appeared at the door.

"You wanted to see me sir." Kira said, beaming from ear to ear.

"I believe congratulations are in order." Sisco smiled.

"Thank you sir. I wasn't expecting it!"

"Well I'm afraid I have some bad news about the whole thing. We're needed by the Klingon fleet." Sisco revealed to Kira trying not to make upset.

"Really?" Kira sounded a bit upset.

"I'm afraid so but I might have an idea as to what to do about your position with Vic." Sisco leaned forward.

Kira was kind of upset that the crew was needed elsewhere but was very intrigued about what else could be on Sisco's mind.

Julian and Myles were helping Vic set up the bar for that night's performance. Julian and Myles were still on cloud nine about Kira being chosen to perform with Vic. The holosuite door then opened again with the whole crew of Deep Space Nine on the other side. Vic was the first one to see them.

"What are you all doing here?" Vic smiled, happy to see them.

"Well we're needed elsewhere for a week. So we kind of needed a show before we go." Sisco hoped.

"All of you?" Vic looked to Kira.

"That's the thing. Kira's going to be staying here, whilst we help out the Klingons. If that's alright with you Vic?" Odo asked.

"Of course it will be." Vic nodded.

"Now could we possibly have a few songs." Julian suggested.

"Why not?" Kira said.

Myles and Julian sat down with the rest of the Defiant. They looked at the rest of the crew as Vic and Kira started their show. It was nice to know they finally had someone to help Vic out from time to time, especially as Kira had been so scared about performing in front of a crowd.

"I think Vic has chosen well, don't you?" Julian whispered to Myles.

"Couldn't have chosen better myself." Myles responded.

They then turned back to the show. Kira would soon fit in with the bar and the band. Plus it was only for a week so she would soon get over her stage fright quickly. The Defiant crew could finally get away from the war for a few moments and it was better then ever.
