Chapter 18: Prison break part 2: a lord amongst angels.

Angels, they sung like angels.
That is what luca thought when he heard these ladies singing his praises. In fact in literally any other circumstance it would have been perfect. He listened intently and could make out Lilith's beautiful voice which made his heart soar.
"I can see you appreciate good music mercenary." the priestess commented, clapping her hands to the sounds of the choir.
"they are very talented."
"if they weren't then they wouldn't be in the angel choir."
Luca watched as they finished the song and he clapped in approval. I shouldn't be enjoying this but they're so beautiful.
Luca hated that he loved hearing their voices because they were all captives. Basically song birds in a gilded cage. You're an idiot luca. He berated himself. It's your fault they're here… away from their families.
Luca's thought process was interrupted by a woman's scratchy voice singing. The poor thing's throat was probably tired they had been here for an hour of non stop singing.
"silence!" the high priestess ordered, clicking her finger. "bring that one to me." she said pointing to the girl who was singing off key.
The guards ran to her and no one stopped help her. They brought the girl before the high priestess. "so you think lord luca is a joke?"
"No love sister, my throat is just dry, I haven't had any dinner in the last two days and I've been practicing hard to appease lord luca."
"excuses! You make the angels choir look bad and in front of a guest no less. Hand!" the priestess screamed doing a spell circle to bring a ruler to her.
The woman replied by exposing her shaking wrist and closing her eyes making herself tear up.
The priestess slapped the girls arm… hard. She did this nine more times as the girl begin letting out soft screams.
The priestess did not stop she did another ten smacks much to the chagrin of Luca.
"you're holiness? How many smacks has she earned?"
"for embarassing lord luca's angels… one hundred!" she said smacking the girls wrist again as the poor girl began to bleed.
She winced in pain and let out soft sobs as tears ran down her face.
"stop it! She's bleeding!" luca went to grab the woman but was stopped by the guards.
"hired thugs like you don't understand what is expected by one as divine as lord luca… we are saving these girls from their sinful lives and turning them into the companions of the son of the titan."
the priestess never stopped smacking the poor girls bleed wrist. The pain became too much for her as her knees buckle and she fell to the ground.
"Pick her up!" the priestess ordered.
The guards grabbed the girl by both sides and lifted her up then extended her wrist which allowed the witch to continue her ruler punishment.
Luca looked up at the girls and they just watched with horror. The boy turned his head to lilith and in reponse she shook her head as if to tell him not to do it.
"Stop!" luca knew what he had to do." in the name of your lord!" Luca removed the towel and show his sweating face and glaring at the woman.
The priestess gasped and backed away then immediately bowed before him. "Lord luca, it is an honor to have you at our temple… what are you waiting for! Bow to your lord." the priestess ordered the girls behind her.
The woman did as instructed and bowed before luca… face down with their hands up in prayer.
"what is your command for us lord? We shall do anything for you." the priestess replied.
"My command…? Is for you to release all the women in this cathedral and to never enslave any more… that I what I command."
The woman sputtered upon hearing this. "but my lord the empress said… I get it now."
"get what?"
"you have been tainted, corrupted by the cruelty of the stepmom and her daugther. The empress told us this could happen and the only cure is our love."
"your crazy, this isn't love… this is slavery. I don't want any part of it… let these women go… they don't deserve this."
"guards! Take him to the room we have reserved for when Lord luca returns and then send for our prettiest girls to entertain him… it's going to be a long road to recovery and we want ot start strong."
the guards appeared and lightly grabbed luca's shoulders and took him away.
Lilith met his eye and he used a spell to contact her.
Save them lilith, save all of them… I'll find a way to escape.
Lilith nodded her head and let luca go.

eda was sweating bullets as she launched another bolt of fire at the guards of the cathedral.
The bolt bounced off the wall of one of the comformity rooms. The guards hid behind there and returned fire.
Eda ducked and got the top of her hair singed and then ran to take cover.
"follow her!" the priestess called from behind the guard.
Eda dashed through the comformity looking around for not just guards but also luz.
The guards turned a corner and entered a narrow hallway.
"Big mistake chumps!" eda did a spell circle summoning a gout of ice freezing the guards and blocking the path and thus cutting off the guards persuit.
Eda then chuckled to herself nad blow out her finger "still got it." eda then ran around the corner and saw Luz in a comformity room. The girl looked bad, her hair was a mess and her eyes were starting to go blank.
"Luz!" eda ran and kicked down the door opening it. She ran to her student and unbound it.
"luca is kind, you are nothing without luca." the screen called.
"shut up!" Eda did a spell circle and blew up the machine. "kid look at me, you're safe now."
"i'm nothing without luca, I need luca." she mumbled her tone dull.
"Luz! We need to get you out of here kid." Eda slung the girl over her back and ran down the hall heading toward the exit.
"Once we get you back home we'll fix you."
"Luca, I need him, I'm nothing without him." Luz mumbled.
"I'll take you to luca, don't worry… I've got you kid."
eda could see the exit and was running with renewed vigor when a familiar figure stepped out In front of her. "esdeath! What are you doing here?"
"you think I didn't have spies amongst the priesthood looking out for the boy's sister in case she was retrieved by our free contractors." esdeath said, maliciously laughing.
"contractors? You mean slavers!"
"somantics? I don't much care how they get the girls as long as we get them… though I dislike this place due to the competition it is the empress's decree… now hand over the girl and you can walk." esdeath raised her rapier at eda and smiled. "or I can kill you where you stand."
"you'll die trying, Yaa!" eda roared charging the woman and prepared a lightning attack.
Esdeath ducked and stabbed at eda.
The witch used a barrier to block the woman's strike then reeled back.
Esdeath ran toward the witch and in reponse got hit by a fire bolt.
Eda followed with a spell to encase esdeath in ice… a huge gout of ice covered the woman and she was frozen solid. "ha I knew you weren't so tough."
the ice barrier began to crack as esdeath popped out with her rapier stabbing at eda.
The blade hit eda in the shoulder drawing blood and pushing the witch back as she cried out in pain.
"did you really think you could use ice to harm me?" Esdeath gloated flourishing her rapier in a graceful taunt.
"I guess the tried and true method is best." eda did a spell circle to shroud herself in a firey aura which resembled an owl.
"An owl? Ha, how predictable… eda you really need to expand your repertiore."
"you're one to talk miss ice princess." eda swatted her aura's wing at Esdeath who dodged out of the way.
"there is a difference between forcing a motive and mastering a magical art." esdeath then spun her rapier in a circle summoning a small snow storm. "as I shall demonstrate… now!"
Esdeath turned the snow into tiny ice shards and shot them at eda.
The owl's flame ate most of them but it began to dim due to the constant assualt and the rest pierced eda making her a bloody mess. The witch fell to her knees and coughed up a little blood.
"Oh how I've longed for this day… the day I expose you as a fraud and unworthy of the empresses respect."
"the empress doesn't respect anyone… she just fears me." eda said through her heavy breathing.
"you blashphemous witch!" esdeath reared her rapier back to stab at eda.
Eda smirked and kicked esdeaths feet out from under her and then used a flying spell to flee to luz.
Esdeath grabbed eda's foot when she passed her and the witch dragged her to the girl.
Eda tried to shake the woman off but she held on tight. "you need to let go… I'm not a free ride kinda girl."
"that's not what warden wrath said."
"Like he would know." eda used spell circle to change esdeaths center of gravity which pulled her to the ground as she fell from eda to the ground and landed with a crash.
"better luck next time ice queen." Eda chuckled at her own joke and walked toward luz. "you okay kid?"
"e-eda? Is that you? Where am I?"
"you're safe kid, it's good to have you ba–" a sharp pain entered eda's side and when she looked down she saw a rapier blade in her stomach. "i'm sorry kid."
"eda!" luz exclaimed her eyes open wide.
The witch fell face first in front of Luz landing on top of her.
"you're next little harlot." esdeath pulled her sword eda and dried her blood off it.
Luz could feel eda fading and tears ran freely from her eyes.
"you're just as weak as your mother… luca should never have had to deal with a bunch of wimps like you."
"don't talk about luca." Luz growled as her body began to cover itself in black ooze.
"so the beast is taking control again… I've been meaning for a rematch."
"She's not beast and I'm not a harlot, we are…" Luz turned her head up to look esdeath in eye as hers began to black "… eclipse!" luz became the symbiotic creature and this time she looked at esdeath with analytical cunning.
So we are in agreement… I won't force myself on you and you won't get rid of me. Eclipse said, she had finally made an offer luz didn't turn down in the week since they were put in the conformity room.
I agree to your terms. Is luz's only reponse.
Then let's kill this witch.
Eclipse roared at esdeath and jumped up to attack her.
