Chapter 22: The invitation

I see you have come back for another chapter of the harem anime owl house… thank you and I am sorry for the cringe. Hello everyone I hope you are enjoying the chapter and I want to say thank you for sticking with me to this point. Let me know what you think of my story on the reviews… please don't be a creep.

Eda glared at the sight in front of her.

Luca was feeding Lilith a spoonful of ice cream and she hummed in delight.

"your turn my beloved prince." Lilith grabbed a spoon, dipped it in the tub, and lifted it to Luca's lips. "open wide and say ah."

"Aaahhh." luca opened his mouth and Lilith placed her spoon in his mouth.

"Gah, all this puppy love nonsense is going to make me lose my lunch." eda groaned, the sad thing is she didn't know why she had this reaction to Luca and Lilith. She should be happy that her sister found a man who was actually worth something… she's been with many who weren't. But she wasn't, in fact she sometimes felt pure disdain for the two lovers.

"so lilypad, where do you wanna go for your special day."

"where do you want to take me, my frog prince."

"Well how's about a fancy restaurant?"

"Ooh, I like that."

"Grab a bite of ice cream from that parlor you like."

"That sounds great, you're making me feel so spoiled."

"you deserve it Liliypad, then we'll end the day by going for a walk In the park."

"Oh Luca, that all sounds wonderful." Lilith gave luca another scoop of ice cream and looked down to see they had eaten the whole tub. "oh, I feel like a pig… I shouldn't have eaten all this ice cream."

"Lilypad, we both ate more then our share and enough of this pig nonsense you look great and you are great."

"Oh you, come here." Lilith and Luca rubbed their noses against each other and began making baby babble to each other.

"Oh my god! Why are you so annoying!" Eda exclaimed, "I get it, you're in love, don't have to rub it in my face." Eda looked away from the two lovers.

"Eda, you can't get in the way of two fresh lovers… I think it's cute." luz said looking at lilith and luca then back at her sketchpad which had a caricature of the two of them sharing a root beer float.

"Ugh, I miss the luca who didn't show his love like it was going out of style… what ever happened to that Luca?"

Luca held lilith's hands in his own and kissed her cheek. "he grew up to realize that life is short and that he should tell the people in his life that he loves them. When I saw luz and lilith in danger I knew that I may have never been able to tell them how I feel. Never again."

eda pouted and turned her head then she mumbled to herself. "you know I was in danger too, I still have my scars." Eda looked at the scars that though they were faded they still show more brightly then lilith's… why am I acting like this.

"Ooh, Luca, do you think I should buy some lingere?"

Luca went red faced. "Uh, why do you want to buy lingere."

"I think it'd be fun for when we are comfortable enough to make love."

"well if you want to buy lingere, you'd look great. But you don't need it your already the most beautiful woman on the isles."

"Aaaw, Luca, you are so sweet." Lilith was teary-eyed as she hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Gaah, I can't sit here and listen to this nonsense anymore, I'm going to get a drink of appleblood at the tavern." eda rose from the table and walked toward her door when two letters came through the mail slot. Eda smiled when she saw that the letters had the imperial seal. "Jackpot! Mama's getting paid. I love my stipend checks." eda opens the letter and her eyes go big. "woof, this is thrice as much as she usually gives… I expected less."

Eda opened the other letter. "come on let this be a bonus stipend check so that mama can buy herself a new wardrobe." she reads the letter and frowns. "Oh, the empress is holding a royal ball and I am cordially invited… pass."

Eda threw the letter over her shoulder and walked away to sit on the coach and admire her new check.

Luz walked up to the letter and looks at it. "royal ball? Like fancy dresses, royal intrigue, and a chance to find a dangerous ally who may or may not be my love interesy? We have to go… please eda."

"Absolutely not! Even if I wanted to go, it's too dangerous. The empress wants luca captured and you dead, remember?"

Luz sighed "yeah," she then read the letter and noticed something. "Uh eda, it says attendence is mandatory… upon threat of seizure of stipend payments and collection of property equal to the amount the empress has given. It also says you can bring 2 plus ones but you have to bring lilith… so I guess we can go."

"Ugh that no good two faced witch… fine! Lilith get that dress maker on the horn, while I have my illusion specialist make some disguises for luca and luz… I hate today."

Luz pumped her fist in the air while luca felt like this was a trap. He looked out the window then back at lilith, luz, and eda.

Whatever she's planning… I'll need to be ready for it.
