Chapter 34: The walk of shame

The walk home was a long and lonely one for eda clawthorne. She had left the big pouch of money on the ground where erza placed it and sniffled as she thought of what he told her.
I-i hate you! He said what she deserved to hear… but it still hurt.
After the empress and her goons left with luca eda had fell to her knees and she cried.
Was it worth you old witch… selling out someone you love… again. Eda remembered what the empress did to raine as he was the head of the bard coven and she did nothing. Now her second chance at happiness with Luca and she throws him to that witch too.
Am I just a bad lover Eda didn't deserve having a boyfriend like luca. Now she is screwing her sister out of her loved one… the very thought was like a knife in eda's heart.
She finally came to the owl house a crying mess. She came to door and tried to open it but found it locked.
"where's luca?" Hooty asked glaring at eda.
"he's in boneborough getting me some appleblood now open up."
"you're lying! I heard him scream a few hours ago… where is he?"
Eda froze but immediately clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. "you don't know anything hooty."
"I know that you snuck off to bonesborough…"
"so…" eda snapped.
"so, where is luca? Tell me!"
Eda used a spell circle to teleport inside to see lilith on the coach knitting a sweater.
"oh edalyn you're back… how'd it go?"
"terrible…" Eda groaned.
"I'm sorry to hear that but where's luca… I'm knitting him a sweater for the cold winter… my body can only do so much warming you know."
Hearing that broke eda she felt the tears flow. "He's gone Lily…"
"what do you mean… he's gone?"
"I mean he's gone and not coming back." eda said her eyes red and puffy.
"what did you do!?" lilith exclaimed dropping the needles and storming toward edalyn.
"I sold him to the empress." Eda admitted loud enough for everyone to hear.
"what!" both lilith and luz exclaimed with the latter running down the stairs.
Hooty's door slammed open and he hissed at eda.
"y-you sold my boyfriend...bitch!" Lilith smacked eda in the face knocking the witch to the ground. "How dare you!"
"why eda! Why would you do this to Luca!"
"why do you think Luz, the empress offered her more priveleges! What did you she offer you this time edalyn!? What was the price you sold my prince for!?"
"Mother! She sold us our mother!"
"you're crazy! Mother is a statue and always will be!"
The sisters were in each others face. "the empress promised she undo the petrification."
"not even she is powerful for that…"
Eda took a photo out of her hair which was given to her by the empress. It showed a scarecrow like man.
"Is that?"
"the covenhead of the potions coven yes."
"But he… was petrified… that means."
"yes lilith, we can have mom back and it will be like before."
Lilith fell to her knees. "No…" She whispered. "No! I want luca back! I want my luca!" she cried.
"Lily, I'm sorry but I had to do it… for mom."
"No! You did it for yourself! Mother always favored you! Everyone always favored you! Luca favored me! He was my boyfriend, my prince! And you took him away from me… to think I was going to share him with you."
"what are you talking about?" Eda asked, afraid fo the answer.
"Upstairs, luca wrote you love letters, he told me he had begun having feelings for you, and I told him we could share him… but you betrayed him… I hate you!" lilith ran upstairs to grab her staff. "and I'm getting my boyfriend back!"
"I'm right behind you Lilith." Luz said turning her back to Eda. "I thought I could trust you eda… I thought we were friends… but this isn't what friends do."
eda's knees buckled and she fell to the floor. "I'm sorry, oh titan… I'm so sorry… Luca, forgive me." eda cried, she rose and tried to go to her room upstairs but the stair case flattened and she fell face first into the ground.
Both luz and lilith flew off a moment later not saying a word to the self pitying eda…
She wallowed in her sorrow for a few more minutes before she bucked herself up. I may have sold luca away for my greedy reasons… but I'm going to get him back… I just need a little help.
