Chapter 38: Revelations and betrayal.

Standing across from each the two woman in the cell stared at each other.
Luz nocenda glared at the woman who ordered her mother's death and kidnapped her brother.
The empress had summoned a cup of something hot as steam flowed from the cup.
"so, why did you come to my castle… little girl." the empress asked stirring her cup.
Luz tried to fight out of her restraints her anger unbridled as she thrashed and the chains began clinking on walls.
"really? You're trying to break those chains… you couldn't even do a sit up during gym class."
"what? How could you know that?"
"I know a lot of things, girl." the empress said her tone never changed from it's calm and calculated expression. "I know you failed english two years in the row and had to go to summer school, I know luca has protected you his whole life, and worse of all… you let luca pay for your mistakes… isn't that right?"
"No! Me and luca are a team… he chose to help me."
"Because you are weak and a burden… he pities you. It's quite sad really." she said laying the cup beside her chair. "but none of that answers my question… why are you here?"
"I'm here for my brother! You evil witch!"
"So vulgar, do you think you're brother is a prisoner here?" The empress asked, catching the human off guard.
"yes… you did kidnap him and are keeping him from his family and friends."
"No I am not, if he wanted to leave I would have let him. I just asked him if he wanted to stay here with me and my champions… or go back to live with you in squalor. He made the obvious choice."
"You're a liar!" Luz exclaimed slamming her body to try and charge the woman.
"Am I? Well it doesn't matter what you think… I love luca and he loves me…"
"you don't love him… you're using him for the day of unity."
The empress chuckled when Luz said that confusing the teen.
"what's so funny!?"
"that you think you're any different… I love luca way more then you do… girl." the empress replied mirth still in her heart. "you used luca for everything… protect me from bullies luca, help me with my homework luca, come to this awful summer camp with me luca… you've been holding him back."
Luz was on the verge of tears as the witch was right "how do you know all this?"
"you're life is as open to me as a mirror is to a reflection."
"it doesn't matter luca will never help you with the day of unity."
"the day of unity? You poor stupid child… there is no day of unity."
"you mean that you lied? Why?"
"why else, so that the isles would accept luca as he was meant to be… their ruler."
"You're a monster! Does that mean the myth of the asmodean?"
"also a lie… I'm clever when I need to be… my teacher taught the value of a good lie."
"She sounds like a bitch?"
"you would've liked her… anyway I'd suggest you get comfy… you're going to be here awhile… for not for too long… maybe I'll put you next to the blight children when I eventuall turn you to stone." the empress replied walking away from luz and closing her cell.
Vee looked at luz with tears in her eyes. The creature didn't know luz all that long but Luz had become a friend to her just by being kind.
Luz laid her head down in defeat crying "Luca… I'm sorry."
"Enough of that sobbing child… we need to hurry." a voice said from behind the walls it was odalia blight.
"what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to save you and your brother…"
"why should I believe you?"
"Because I heard what that bitch said about my children… now are you coming or not."
Luz nodded her head and odalia used magic to undo her bindings and locks.
Luz ran out of the cell and turned her head to vee. She used magic to undo vees bindings and her cell door."Come with me… vee."
Luz extended her hand out and Vee mesmerized took it.
The three ran out of the dungeon preparing to take the fight to the empress.

Outside slamming on the force filed created by the empresses wards lilith was thrashing until her hands began to bleed.
No, no, no! I must save him… he needs me! She was crying and her mascara was running and her hair was a mess as she began punching the force field.
"luca! Luca! Please… don't leave me alone." Lilith fell to her knee as she began to hack up from her crying too much.
"Lilly, you can't do this alone." Eda voice called from behind her.
Lilith jerked her head violently to edalyn. "you! You bitch!" lilith charged and began striking at edalyn who grabbed her hands… it wasn't hard as lilith was beaten, bruised, and tired.
"Lilith listen to me… I know I messed up with turning luca in to the empress… but I'm going to make it right… here and now!" Eda said holding her sister close.
"How! Her damn wards are up… It'd take an army of witches to break through it."
"you're right… luckily…" Eda turned her head to the entire population of bonesborough marching with minerva and juno in front. "… we have one."
"owl lady, remember what you owe us for this act of rebellion." Juno said glaring at the wards.
"don't worry you'll get what I promised or my name isn'r eda the owl lady."
"then what are we waiting for spells up!" Minerva said as her and the entirety of bonesborough used a spell circle to undo the wards causing the gate to crash.
"Charge!" juno ordered and the people of bonesborough ran across the bridge past the two sisters.
"How…" Lilith said, shocked.
"we'll talk about that after we save your boyfriend… now let's go kill the empress!"
Lilith nodded her head and joined her sister in a roar as they charged the bridge both thinking the same thing.
