Man. I haven't worked on this story in a long time, haven't I? Hey, everyone! And welcome to the next chapter of "The Love of a Killer Part 1". Sorry for the long update. I just have been working on other stories and I've been losing the motivation to do my stories lately. That and I couldn't think of an idea for the next chapter. But don't worry. This story isn't dead! We finally get to know how long Dash is going to be in bed and we get to see Jeff meet another pony character. Enough said. Enjoy! Chapter 5: Nurse Redheart

A few hours went by, and Jeff and Rainbow Dash were still in the bedroom. Rainbow was in bed while Jeff was sitting on the floor.

"Well, I'm bored." Rainbow said.

"You're not the only one." Said Jeff.

Jeff then looked to his left and saw a bookcase and saw something that piqued his interest.

"Hey, what's that over there?"

He got up and started walking to the bookcase.

"What are you doing?" Rainbow asked.

Jeff didn't reply and kept walking. Once he got to the bookcase, he saw the thing that interested him. It was an assortment of books entitled "Daring Do".

"Daring Do?"

He pulled one book out and placed it on the floor. Then he put another one on the floor. Then another. Then another.

"What are you doing? Hey! Those are mine!" Rainbow said, irritably.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just curious. These are yours?" Jeff asked, sarcastically.

"Yeah, those are mine. And I would very much appreciate it if you would take your grubby hooves off them."

"I'm not gonna tear them up, so I don't know why you're freaking out."

Rainbow sighs.

"Okay, you can look at them. Just be careful with them." She said.

"Whatever."

Jeff took a look at the first book.

"Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone?" He read.

He turned to Rainbow.

"Who's this Daring Do person?"

The pegasus gasped in disbelief.

"You don't know who Daring Do is?!" She asked.

Jeff sighed.

"No. Actually, I don't." He said.

"That's like saying you never heard of the Wonderbolts."

"I've never heard of them either."

Rainbow raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Really?"

"Really."

"How can he be a pegasus and not know who Daring Do and the Wonderbolts are? It's so strange." She thought.

"So, are you gonna tell me?" Jeff asked.

"Huh?"

"Who's Daring Do?"

"Daring Do is undoubtedly one of the most awesome adventurers in all of Equestria!" Rainbow said, "She looks for artifacts and treasure while avoiding and outsmarting her enemies. She can also find her way out of a tight situation."

Jeff looked at the book again.

"I see. So, she's basically like Indiana Jones." He said.

Rainbow raised an eyebrow in confusion again.

"Uh, who Jones?" She asked.

"Ah, nevermind."

Jeff picked up the first book, which was green, and started to walk out of the room. Rainbow spoke.

"And just where are you going with that book?" She said, a little angry.

Jeff turned to the pegasus with an irritated look.

"I'm just gonna go downstairs and give this book a read. What do you think I was going to steal it or something? Just relax." He told her.

"Fine, go ahead. But don't think this makes up for you chasing me." She said.

Jeff growled.

"Yeah yeah, whatever."

He starts walking again. Rainbow then noticed the other books on the floor.

"Hey, aren't you gonna pick up the other books?" She asked. Jeff didn't answer and walked out of the room. Rainbow could only sigh in frustration.

sigh* "Nevermind then."

She rolled over on her right side and mumbled, "Jerk." Jeff got to the stairs. When he did, he knew it wouldn't be safe to try to walk down them while holding the book in his hoof. He thought about putting the book in his mouth and walking down the stairs, but then he thought about Rainbow seeing the teeth marks on the cover and he didn't want to hear her complain some more.

"Aw, screw it. I'll just fly down the stairs." He said to himself.

He started to fly downstairs. Eventually, he got to the bottom and landed. Once he did, he walked over to the couch.

"Fucking bitch. I save her from getting eaten by other animals in the forest and she thanks me by complaining. Maybe I should've killed her." Jeff thought, "Maybe reading will take my mind off of it."

He sat down and opened the book. Before he could read, he heard a knock at the door. He turned towards the door and put the book down on the coffee table.

"I wonder who that could be."

He got up and walked to the door. Outside, Twilight was at the door with Nurse Redheart who had her medical bag with her.

"So, you said that the pony that saved your friend looks a bit... different?" Nurse Redheart asked.

The alicorn nodded.

"Yeah. Really different. So, don't freak out." She said.

"Oh, come on, Princess Twilight. I'm sure he doesn't look different from any other pony I've seen."

Once they heard the doorknob click, they turned back to the door. The door opened to reveal Jeff. When Nurse Redheart saw him, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped.

"Hey, Twilight."

"Hey, Jeff."

Noticing that the nurse was staring at him, Jeff turned to her.

"What?"

Nurse Redheart snapped out of her shock.

"Oh! I'm sorry. It's just that... I've never seen a pony with a face like yours before." She said.

"Yeah, right. I suppose you came here to see Dash?" Jeff asked.

The duo nodded.

"We sure did. We just want to know how serious her injuries are." Twilight said.

Jeff sighed.

"Well, if I must, I must. Follow me." He said.

Jeff started walking to the stairs with Twilight and Redheart following him. When he went upstairs, so did they. We cut to Rainbow Dash's room where the pegasus was just looking up at the ceiling, still bored out of her mind. She heard her door open and saw Jeff standing in the doorway.

"Twilight and the nurse are here." He said.

Jeff walked in followed by Twilight and Nurse Redheart.

"Hey, Rainbow. How are you doing?" Twilight asked.

"I'm doing okay at least." Said Rainbow.

The pegasus looked at the nurse.

"Hey, Nurse Redheart."

"Hello, Rainbow Dash. I'm just here to see how serious your injuries are. Princess Twilight said you ran into a tree and hurt yourself. Do you have any headaches?" The nurse asked.

"Somewhat. I also think my right leg and wing might either be sprained or broken." Rainbow replied.

"That's why I brought my X-ray just in case."

"Why would you say that, Rainbow?" Twilight asked.

"Because like I told you, when Jeff bumped into me, I ended up hurting my leg and when I woke up, I realized that my wing was hurt too." Rainbow replied.

"Oh. Well, I hope nothing's broken."

"I hope so too, Twilight."

Nurse Redheart opened her medical bag and pulled out an X-ray.

"Now, let's see if anything's broken. You'll need to sit up, Rainbow Dash." She said.

"Okay, Nurse Redheart."

The pegasus did as she was told. The nurse placed an X-ray sheet on her leg. As soon as she was done with the leg, she placed another one on Rainbow's wing. She looked at the two sheets and nodded.

"Be honest, how bad is it?" Rainbow asked.

"Well, the good news is that nothing seems to be broken. It's probably just sprains." The nurse said.

"Phew. That's a relief. For a second there, I thought something was actually broken."

"However, if you are still hurting every time you use your leg and wing, you will have to stay off them and in bed for some time."

Rainbow's eyes widened.

"I'm gonna have to stay in bed?!" She asked, worried.

Nurse Redheart nodded.

"I'm afraid so." She said as she bandaged Rainbow's leg and wing.

"How long am I gonna have to stay in bed?" Rainbow asked.

Nurse Redheart put a hoof on her chin.

"Considering it's just sprains and a headache, it would probably be... three weeks." She said.

"THREE WEEKS?!!!!"

"Yes."

"But... But... But I have a show with the Wonderbolts next week."

"We understand, Rainbow. But think about it, you can't really perform with a hurt wing." Twilight said.

"Oh, c'mon, Twi. My wing may be hurt, but it's not hurt too bad. Besides, Nurse Redheart said it was just sprains. Here I'll show you." Said Rainbow.

The pegasus started to fly a little bit only to feel a sharp pain in her wing, causing her to scream, "OW!" and fall on her bed. She growls in frustration. Jeff snickered a little.

"Very funny." Rainbow said, sarcastically.

"Rainbow Dash." Nurse Redheart said, patiently, "We understand that you have a lot to do and that you don't want to be bedridden. But unless you get some rest and stay off that leg and wing for a while, they will never get better."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning somepony will have to take care of you while you recover."

"Who do you think would take care of me?" Rainbow asked, confused.

Twilight and Nurse Redheart turned to Jeff.

"What are you looking at me for?" Asked Jeff, also confused.

Knowing they were looking at Jeff, Rainbow's eyes widened and she started shaking her head.

"No no no no no no! No way in Tartarus. Anypony but him." She said.

"Hold on a second. You want me to take care of her?" Asked Jeff.

"Well, we thought it would make sense since you're the one who saved her." Twilight said.

"Yeah, but he's also the one who chased me! Did we lose track of that?! Besides, for all we know, he may have a job." Rainbow told them.

Nurse Redheart turned to Jeff.

"Jeff? Do you have a job of any kind?" She asked him.

The former killer was trying to think of what to say.

"Um... no?" He said.

The nurse pony nodded.

"Then that settles it." She said, "You will be the one taking care of Rainbow Dash."

"You expect me to take care of this ungrateful bitch? Count me out." Jeff scoffed.

Twilight and Nurse Redheart looked at each other, then at Jeff. Twilight walked forward.

"But Jeff, it would only be right since you're the one who saved her." She said.

Rainbow cleared her throat and they all turned to her. She had an irritated look.

"That doesn't change the fact that he chased me! Besides, how was I supposed to know he only wanted information and not wanting to kill me?!" She asked.

"Like I said, if I was going to do anything to you, I would've already done it." Jeff said, irritably.

Nurse Redheart sighed.

"Listen, you two will have to make the best of your situation. Jeff, please be patient, and Rainbow, since he saved you, please be grateful." She told them.

Rainbow turned to Twilight.

"Can't you take care of me, Twilight?" She asked.

"Believe me, Rainbow. I would, but I have my duties as a princess and as headmare of the School of Friendship. I don't think I'll have the time." Twilight replied.

"But... but...

Rainbow sighed in defeat.

sigh* "Fine. Jeff can take care of me. But he better not hurt me." She said sternly.

"Wasn't planning on it." Jeff mumbled.

"Good. Now I have other patients to tend to at the hospital so I will be very busy. And like Princess Twilight said, she'll be busy too. Plus it's getting a little late." Nurse Redheart said.

"But how will I let him know if I need something?" Asked Rainbow.

Suddenly, Twilight got an idea. Her horn started glowing and a little bell appeared. She placed it on Rainbow's nightstand.

"You can use this bell to call for Jeff when you need something. Just ring it, and he'll help you with something." Twilight said.

"Just don't use it 24/7." Said Jeff.

"Now that everything is settled, I suppose you two will be fine on your own?" Asked Nurse Redheart.

Jeff and Rainbow looked at each other.

"Yeah, we'll see."

After everything was said and done, Twilight and Nurse Redheart left. For a minute, there was silence.

"So, Jeff. What do you plan to do now?" Rainbow asked, breaking the silence.

Jeff yawns.

"To be honest, babe, I don't know about you, but I'm really tired." Jeff said, "Do you have anything for my eyes? Because, if you didn't notice, I have no eyelids."

Rainbow pointed towards her dresser.

"I might have a sleeping mask in one of the drawers over there." She said.

Jeff turned and saw the dresser. He walked towards it. Once he got there, he opened the top drawer and found a purple and yellow striped sleeping mask. He pulled it out and looked it over.

"It's a little funny looking, but it'll do." He said to himself.

He closed the drawer and began to walk out of the room when Rainbow spoke.

"Hey, Jeff."

"Yeah?"

"I just wanted to tell you two things; one, do not call me babe. And two, I hope you don't plan on sleeping all day, because for the next three weeks, I'm gonna make your life a living hell." She said with a smirk.

Jeff smirked back.

"I'd love to see you try."

"Oh, don't worry. I will."

Jeff started walking out of the room again.

"Goodnight, by the way." Said Rainbow.

"Whatever."

And with that, Jeff shut the door and flew downstairs. He then walked over to the couch and lied down. He put the sleeping mask over his eyes.

"What can she possibly say or do to make my time here a living hell? Besides, how hard can taking care of someone be? You know what, Dash. Bring it on." He thought.

Author's Note: Jeff, you don't know what you're getting yourself into. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Sorry for the long update. I just had a lot going on and writer's block. But nevertheless, I got this chapter done. And I hope to do more of this story in the future. Hopefully I won't take too long. That's what I'm hoping at least. Please be sure to read and review. Constructive criticism is welcome and as always be sure to keep watch for the next chapter. Until then, see you next time, my fellow bronies and pegasisters!
