Chapter 6
A/N: You know, don't own, just write.
Heero watched Relena slowly lift her left foot and take a small step. They were having Relena take it slow, but she would be able to walk at a normal pace in a few days. This was to help strengthen the suture point on her heart and also to make sure the thinned muscle wouldn't rip. Heero was helping her by providing her with a solid hold and guide to help with her walking. Corinne was there to simply provide instructions and immediate first aid if necessary.
"So Mit is coming here to have the meeting with you and Quatre?" Relena asked.
"Yes. He examined the photos of the crime scenes and we need to examine some other evidence as well."
"Are you going to tell him about me?" she asked as she got to the end of the support bars and turned.
"No; the fewer people that know about you the better. The possibility of someone getting captured and tortured for info is too great. The people that know now can withstand that possibility because of training. I don't know if Mit could withstand it."
Corinne was writing on a notepad while Heero and Relena were talking. She had heard about a man named Mit. She was wondering if they were talking about Mit Rath, but she kept quiet. She figured they must have been talking about someone else, because Mit Rath had died during the war. She had watched the Leo he was piloting get destroyed by Gundam 02. She had watched the man she loved die while helping patients escape a hospital. Her memory had quickly flashed to the first time they had met. Mit had come in with a dislocated shoulder from training and they just hit it off. She had been volunteering at hospitals provided by the Winner Corp. to anyone that needed it, no matter what the side. Everyone knew that they were neutral ground. Mit had died protecting the hospital. Corinne quickly snapped back to the present.
"Ok. She is good for the day. We can go back to the room now. From all that I can see, you're making excellent progress. Tomorrow, we will be in here for only about ten minutes, and then we can try a small walk in the garden."
"I look forward to it, Corinne," Relena said with a smile.
Heero simply nodded and helped Relena back to her room down the hall. When they got there, Relena seemed a little winded.
"This is perfectly normal," Corinne explained. "It's the body starting to have to pump blood with more pressure, so she will get a little winded. That will go away as we start exercising the heart. Well, I shall take my leave. Please feel free to call me if you need anything."
"Thank you Corinne." Relena said with a smile.
Heero, being the silent type he is, simply nodded again.
When Corinne left the room, Relena looked at Heero and saw that he looked troubled, something that only a person who knew him well enough could see.
"What is it Heero?" she asked.
"When I mentioned Mit's name, Corinne looked as if she recognized the name. It was only for a split second, but I caught it. We may have to be careful. If she knows Mit, there is the possibility; things could go south real quick."
"Don't worry Heero. Everything will be alright." Relena said as she laid her head on his shoulder.
Heero put his arm around her and held her close, trying to provide a stable shoulder for her to rest on, but the thought of anything else happening to her worried him, and angered him. He made a promise to protect her, and he would. No matter what.
