After a heated argument, Phantom left Danny all alone. However, consequences start to pile up and haunt him forever...
Hinds worth mention of abuse, suicide, PTSD, and anorexia; so, don't like, don't read.
Phantom POV
"Why do you always have to be this lazy, Fenton?!" I argued, looking back at him with harsh words.
He didn't say anything, didn't even bother to look at me.
"Well?!" I said, making him look at me.
He didn't answer, making me more angry than usual.
"Whatever!" I said, letting him go and flying away.
'Why does he always provoke me? We used to be this close, but now, I can't even stand looking at him,' I thought.
I flew over to Sam's place and lightly knocked on the window.
She heard it and opened the window, letting me in again.
I saw her with Tucker in the living room with one of the controllers.
"Argument?" He asked, knowing that he can see it through me.
"Yeah," I mumbled, sitting down on the couch.
They both looked at each other and then at me.
"I've been meaning to ask you, Phantom, but have you just recently discovered his change of attitude?" Sam asked, looking at me.
I tilted my head in confusion as Tucker said," We noticed that he stopped talking to us, his eyes emotionlessly, and he acts robotic whenever he's answering or doing something."
"I mean, I noticed too, but-"
"He leaves a mess in your room, aggravates you whenever, and argues back harshly? Yeah, we know, and we're worried," Sam replied.
We went silent afterward, not knowing the right time to talk.
All of a sudden, Sam's phone rings, making me invisible for a second.
"Hello- Jazz? What- WAIT, WHAT?! Calm down- Is he- Okay, we're on our way!" Sam shouts, getting her jacket.
"What's-" Tucker began to asks, but Sam cuts him off, saying, "Danny's in the hospital, guys!"
My core literally stopped beating as soon as I heard said those words, making the atmosphere cold as ice.
"What?!" I exclaimed, wanting to know what happened to Fenton.
"I don't know all the details, but Jazz told me where it is-"
"Where?!" I asked, wanting to get to Fenton as soon as possible.
She told me the hospital's name and address, and with that, I grabbed both Tucker's and Sam's hands before flying over there.
Once we arrived, I turned invisible so that no one can see me.
Sam and Tucker entered, and Jazz was paler as a ghost as ever.
"Is Danny alright?" Sam asked, concerned.
"I-I don't know, I- I feel like it's my fault- I-"
"Calm down, take it easy..." Tucker reassured, ushering her to a seat.
I could tell that she was going through a panic attack, and I felt more worried for Fenton than ever.
"How about you tell us what exactly happened," Sam said, placing a hand over Jazz.
She nodded and began to explain, "S-So, I was studying as usual for college when I heard a thump on the floor.
I went to check if something had fallen off the shelves because it was usually rare since Mom and Dad stopped making explosions from the labs.
When there wasn't something broken, I went up back to my room, only having a gut feeling to check on Danny.
I- I didn't know why, but I felt that urge of him needing help, so I went to check on him.
When I knocked on the door, I didn't hear anything at all. So, I got very anxious and knocked again.
Nothing.
I decided to barge through the door, and when I did, I... I-"
"Deep breath, Jazz, deep breath," Sam said, holding her as a sign of calm.
Jazz was already about to go through hyperventilation, and I knew that it must have been that bad.
"I... I saw him on the floor, b-blood pouring out of his arms," She continued.
"I- I didn't know why would he do that, but I called the hospital and tried to stop much of the bleeding.
It didn't stop, and I felt more worried to try to stop him from losing blood.
When the paramedic came, they placed him down on the stroller and took off.
I got into my car, and that was when I decided to call you.
By the time I got here, he was going through a lot of procedures that I don't know right now but-"
"Breath, Jazz," Tucker said.
Jazz took some deep breaths and continued, "And that's all. I don't know much, but I just hope that he... he-"
"Family members of Daniel Fenton?" A male doctor's voice announced.
"H-Here!" Jazz said, getting up from her seat and rushing over to him.
All three of us went with Jazz to see if Danny was alright.
"I have some good and bad news. Given that since he lost so much blood, we managed to save him."
Jazz felt relieved, but we knew that it wasn't over.
"But, your brother, Daniel, has some serious scars all over his body, and I'm afraid I have to call in child services."
"W-What?!" All of us, minus my shouting, exclaimed.
"How old are you, Miss?" The doctor asked.
"I-I'm sixteen, but-"
"I'm sorry, but there isn't anything for you to do. Given the delicate situation right now, I'm afraid that you're too young to take care of him," He said and left.
None of us moved, but we could all feel Jazz's pain right now of her losing her brother yet again.
'Fenton, you're going to be fine, I- no all of us promise...' I thought, invisibly hugging Jazz.
We all hugged her because right now, she needs it...
Time skip, a year later
Danny POV
I looked up at the sky, seeing the stars that shined.
About a year ago, I was diagnosed with severe depression, anorexia, and some PTSD.
I went through a lot of therapy as well as medication, yet nothing did make me better.
Sam and Tucker stayed in touch with me as soon as I was adopted as Vlad's son.
He knew my situation with my parents' abuse as well as the school, and so, as an act of revenge, he adopted me.
I will forever be grateful for him and Jazz.
She was the one that had a hard choice of sending me to Vlad so that I can be safer from them.
She didn't get a restraining order, unlike my parents and the bullies, and always chat with me every day. Either on phone or by visiting me.
As for Phantom, he was very supportive and always find ways to cheer me up when I'm feeling down.
He always tells me that he'll never forgive himself for not being there for me whenever I needed comfort.
I don't blame him; I didn't really let him help me at all.
I was pushing everyone, including him, away and thought that it'll be better like this.
Oh, how wrong was that...
Anyway, back to my parents, they tried to kidnap and abuse me, but because of the restraining order, they went to jail.
As for my bullies, they were expelled and had to do some community service as punishment.
I looked up again and gave out one, big sigh.
"Fenton, you alright?" I heard Phantom asking me.
"I'm fine, just thinking," I replied without looking at him.
He held my hand to his face and said, "Look, that's all in the past, okay?"
I hummed and rested my head on his shoulder.
"I guess..." I emotionlessly said.
"Danny... Did you take your pills?" Phantom asked.
"Yes, I did," I replied, still not looking at him.
I heard him sighed and then said, "I love you."
I didn't reply right away, but after a few minutes, I told him the same thing.
I may feel worthless right now, but with time, it'll soon be just a bad memory...
