Part 3: Evening Session (And the End of the Tour)
This is rather a conversation between our Sonic characters and Smashers.
After the dinner…
"Alright, since your time here is almost over, how about we spend a little more time here?" Sonic asked.
"That'll be nice, Sonic." Amy spoke.
"Oh, before I forget, I wanna meet this Min Min person Arusu's talking about. Where is she?" Tangle said.
"Oh, she's over there." Sonic nudges his thumb behind him.
As Tangle looked at what Sonic's pointing, she saw the certain ramen bomber herself chatting with Pyra.
"Oh? That's Min Min?" Tangle asked. "Well then, I'm going to greet her in a long-distance method." Then she stretches her tail towards Min Min and tapped her shoulder.
This got Min Min's attention. "Oh? Zhè shì shénme? (What is this?)" She spoke in her mother tongue.
"Hey, Min!" Sonic called. "Sorry about my friend but she's so eager to meet you."
"That's a stretchy tail you got there." Min Min referred to Tangle's tail.
"Thanks. I'm Tangle." Tangle greeted. "You must be Min Min that Arusu's talking about. And he said that you can turn your arms into noodle-like springs. Can you show that to me?"
"No problem." Min Min then turns her left arm into a noodle-like spring as she stretches it and her hand placed on Tangle's shoulder.
"Whoa! So cool!" Tangle gushed.
"Xièxiè" Min Min thanked.
"You know what, Arusu wasn't kidding about her having extendable arms." Tangle mused.
Seeing this, Tails became intrigued. "Hey, that's just like the Magic Hand I've invented."
"Oh? Care to show me?" Min Min seemed interested.
Tails pulls out his magic hand, wears it, and punches the air with it, causing it to spring out.
"Jí hǎo de! (Incredible!)" Min Min exclaimed. "You did this?"
"I do!" Tails grinned. "It's one of my inventions I made back at Mobius."
Not far away from the group, Eight, Big, and Cream were watching their respective li'l buddies, Munchie, Froggy, and Cheese, playing together.
"Looks like Froggy made a new friend, Big." Eight added.
"Yeah, your mouse is so cute, Eight." Big agreed.
"And also, Cheese made friends with Munchie, Mr. Eight." Cream spoke.
"Yeah. I'm happy for him." Eight smiled, then something came in his mind. "Hey, wanna see Munchie's tricks?"
"Oh? You thought him some tricks?" Cream asked with excitement. "Let me see them, pretty please?"
"Sure!" Eight then takes out a plain cheese from his bag, and fed it to Munchie. After the pig-rat had eaten it, it breathed fire. The rest were amazed.
"Wow! He breathed fire when you fed him! So that's what you meant by trick." Cream said.
"Chao chao!" Cheese chirped happily after seeing Munchie's 'trick'.
"It's more like a magic trick to me." Big spoke. "Is this natural to you and him?"
"Of course. It's a unique trait in my world to possess magic. And it takes a lot of training and combat experience to master many of the spells." Eight replied.
"Well, it's no different to Ms. Blaze being born with fire powers, and I think that she took lots of training to get used to it." Cream mused.
"Is this the only trick Munchie have?" Big asked.
"Fire breathing isn't the only trick he has." Eight takes out a cheese covered in ice as he fed it to his pig rat. Once fed, Munchie breathed ice this time, freezing a part of the floor they were standing on.
"Ooh! He can breathe ice too when he eats a frozen cheese!" Cream gushed, then she realized something. "Hey, feeding him different cheeses will have different effects?"
"You got that right." Eight said as he shows a variety of cheeses from his bag: A wing-shaped cheese, cheeses covered in ice, a plain cheese from earlier, a soft cheese, heart-shaped cheeses with two different colors (red and green), a purple cheese, a star-shaped cheese, a cheese that looked like metal, cheeses tinted with red, and cheese with chili peppers on it.
"Wow, that's a lot of cheeses." Big spoke.
"For example, these heart-shaped cheeses can grant Munchie healing abilities." Eight explained. "And these red-tinted cheeses allow him to breathe fire, and the same goes for ice-coated cheese, but with ice breath instead. And the others will make him boost our status like increasing our strength, or even decreasing the stats of our enemies." He then puts the cheeses in his bag.
"It really is magic." Big commented.
"I bet Munchie was useful in your adventures, Mr. Eight." Cream spoke.
"Chao." Cheese chirped.
"Seems like you're having fun." Solo spoke as he approached the group.
"Yeah. Munchie made friends with Cheese and Froggy." Eight replied.
"And Munchie showed us his magic tricks." Big added.
"That's a good thing to get along." Solo commented happily.
Meanwhile, Arusu was chatting with Whisper. Then Arusu was suddenly grabbed by Tangle's tail, catching him off-guard.
"Heya!" Tangle greeted.
"Ack! Tangle!" Arusu yelped as he has been pulled close to the lemur.
"You were right about Min Min having stretchy arms!"
"So, did you meet her?"
"Of course, I did! She was super cool!" Tangle gushed.
Arusu couldn't help but chuckle at Tangle's hyperactivity, then he turned to Whisper and asked, "Is she always this energetic?" Whisper then nodded in response. Arusu turned back to Tangle and asked, "Is Whisper always this quiet?"
Tangle retracts her tail as Arusu fixed his posture. "Actually, let me tell you a secret, but we need to go to a place where there's no crowd." Tangle then went outside, with Arusu and Whisper following her.
Seeing that there are no other people around, Arusu proceeded to ask, "So, what's this secret you want to share with me?"
"I'll tell you if you promise to keep this secret for us."
"I promise, I won't tell everyone. Cross my heart."
"Okay. Well…" Tangle then looked at Whisper and the latter nodded, knowing that Arusu can be trusted. "As you may not know, Whisper is previously a cheerful girl working as a Diamond Cutter, a group of anti-Eggman mercenaries who risked their lives on their mission. She had friends back then. Whisper, care to show him the pic?"
Whisper quietly complied as she pulls out a picture and gave it to Arusu. As the legendary Hero looked at the picture, he saw Whisper in the middle of a group of unfamiliar creatures; a green howler monkey, a blue ocelot, a brown lion, and a purple octopus. He also saw each of them, including Whisper, had Wisps with them, which Arusu doesn't know yet.
"So these are your friends when you work as a mercenary?" Arusu asked the wolf, which nodded in response. "You looked happy in here."
"Yeah." Whisper softly spoke as she explained the names of her previous friends; Smithy the Lion, Slinger the Ocelot, Claire Voyance the Howler Monkey, and Mimic the Octopus. She even showed Arusu the footage of their missions with her mask, and the Hero was left amazed in both the footage and the technology.
"You all seemed to have a good time together." Arusu smiled, then his expression was changed to confusion. "Though what were those tiny little aliens around you?"
"They are Wisps." Whisper replied, and right in cue, the Wisps came out of the capsules of her cloak. The Wisps were orange, green, blue, cyan, and pink. "From what Sonic told me, he saved the Wisps' homeworld from pollution."
The Pink Wisp approached Arusu curiously and spoke in its mother tongue that is gibberish to the Wisp's foreigners.
"Uh, what's it saying?" Arusu tilted his head.
"Oh, try talking with it with that mask on." Tangle chimed. "You'll understand it."
Arusu then puts Whisper's mask back on and turned to the Pink Wisp. "Hello." He greeted.
"Hi there!" The Pink Wisp greeted back, although the mask had just translated its language.
"Whoa, this technology is awesome!" Arusu smiled.
"Smithy invented that thing." Whisper smiled back. "He's such a genius craftsman."
Then Arusu remembered something. He then puts off the mask and asks Tangle, "Hey, Tangle. Why did Whisper's personality change from cheerful to quiet? Did something tragic happen?"
"Now that you mentioned it, then yeah." Tangle faltered. "One of her friends betrayed them because he's tired of risking his life."
"To make it clear for you, I'll just show you." Whisper said as Arusu gave her the mask. She customized it, and gave it back to Arusu as he puts it on.
Then Arusu watched the footage Whisper provided.
It started off when Mimic was planning another assault on one of Eggman's bases. Claire then warned Whisper about something bad might happen. Then the assault began, with Whisper outside of the base in case of anything inbound. Mimic then took the form of a robot and went outside in case of ambush. The remaining three, Slinger, Claire, and Smithy, began to investigate, and then find themselves under attack by a horde of robots that looked like Shadow.
And the footage shows Mimic's point of view, with Eggman in front of him, telling him that his job wasn't done yet, for there's still Whisper to take care of. The footage then changes to Whisper's point of view, seeing Slinger, saying that he made it out alive, but it was actually Mimic in disguise. Of course, Whisper already knew that the real Slinger was slain by the Shadow Androids.
As the footage ended, Arusu removed the mask from his face, revealing an utterly astonished look on it.
"Mimic betrayed you and your friends?" Arusu spoke. "Man, that's… messed up. What he did was unforgivable."
"I know right." Tangle spoke sadly. "Due to that incident, this caused Whisper's personality to change into what you see today, a quiet, lone wolf. And also, she became afraid of losing a friend like me."
"Please, don't make me remind of that crisis." Whisper said.
"I won't, and I'll always be your friend." Tangle then placed her tail on Whisper's shoulder to show comfort.
"I know how Whisper felt to lose someone who's very dear to her." Arusu lamented. "And you, Tangle, must be very close to her when you met her, right?"
"You got that right, pal. When Whisper told me the same story, I felt so sorry for her. She wanted to leave me behind for a dangerous mission, but I told her that friends look after each other no matter what, and that's the reason why we became inseparable."
"Having the closest friend to look after you at all times. That's a good way of making a strong bond. And also, I've noticed one thing between you and Whisper."
"And what is it?"
"A hyperenergetic lemur and a quiet wolf. Seems like a perfect pair for me."
Tangle smiled at Arusu's opinion.
"Now let's get back inside." Tangle said as she and the others went back in the mansion.
Once inside, Whisper's Wisps quickly went inside the capsules as Arusu looked at the wolf in confusion.
"Oh, Wisps are afraid of unfamiliar worlds." Whisper spoke.
"I see…" Then Arusu spots Cream, Big, and Eight with their little buddies still playing with each other. "Hey, would you look at that."
"Huh?" Whisper followed the Hero's gaze and spots Cheese, Froggy, and Munchie getting along, and Kirby is also with them. A smile formed on her lips.
"Why don't let your little buddies get along with them?" Arusu gestured.
Whisper nodded as she tapped the capsules under her cloak. "It's okay. Don't be scared."
Hearing their friend's assurance, the Wisps came out of the capsules and began approaching the little trio.
Seeing this, Cream spoke, "Oh, looks like Ms. Whisper's Wisps wanted to play too!"
"Poyo?" Kirby looked at the Blue Wisp in curiosity, as the latter spoke happily in gibberish language.
"I think the Wisp liked you, Kirby." Big said, as Kirby giggled.
"Uh, what are these glowing floating creatures?" Eight asked as he stared at the Orange Wisp along with his pig-rat.
"Oh, these creatures are called Wisps. They live in a planetoid orbited around Mobius called Planet Wisp." Cream explained.
"These Wisps have unique powers, like this cyan one who can shoot itself like a laser, or maybe an orange one which acts like a rocket." Big continued.
"Now that you mentioned it, this Orange Wisp 'looked' like a rocket." Eight spoke.
Then the Green Wisp started levitating Froggy and Munchie, catching the latter two by surprise.
"Wait, the Green Wisp had telekinesis like the silver hedgehog?" Solo asked.
"Actually, the Green Wisp had a hover ability, which grants me the power to levitate." Sonic chimed in after picking his interest in the conversation. Also, Eleven and Sephiroth was with him.
"Ah, I get it now." Solo nods, and then sees the Pink Wisp. "And this one is spiky."
"Well, these ones aren't the only Wisps from my universe. We also got the Red Burst, Purple Frenzy, Yellow Drill, and many more."
"So, these Wisps can only be found in Planet Wisp?" Eight asked.
"Yeah, but they helped us a bunch during my adventure in Lost Hex, the Eggman War and our recent car racing."
"They're actually cute to be honest." Eleven smiled. 'They really look like the Tockles, but in different shapes.' He thought. "And by the way, what's this Planet Wisp look like?"
"Well, it's full of nature and stuff. I bet a certain goddess of nature will love that planet." Sonic chuckled.
"I would like to see this Planet Wisp once we get back to Mobius." Sephiroth mused.
"I can definitely take you there sometime." Sonic then spots Tangle and Whisper chatting with Arusu. "They seemed to get along pretty quickly."
Eleven and Sephiroth followed Sonic's gaze, and they immediately smiled.
"I'm happy for Arusu." Sephiroth spoke.
"Same." Eleven agreed. "Even if it's ironic that they only bumped into each other."
*time skip*
Everyone who participated in the tour had gathered outside the mansion.
"Well, I suppose your time's up here." Sonic spoke sadly. "Too bad you have to go without me."
"I admit that we had a good time touring around the Smash Mansion, Sonic." Blaze smiled.
"And we even get to meet the fighters from various universes." Silver added.
"I'm glad to hear that." Solo smiled.
Cream, Big, Whisper and Eight watch their little friends hug each other. Kirby is also there as well.
"Cheese says 'We'll miss you, Munchie'." Cream lamented.
"Same goes for the Wisps." Whisper added.
"Hey, if it makes you feel better, you can come and visit the Mansion some other time." Eight assured.
"Really? That's great, Eight!" Big then hugged the Dragovian hybrid. "I will miss you so much!"
"Ack!" Eight choked. "Too tight! Can't breathe!"
"Oops, sorry." Big then releases Eight from the tight hug, with Cream, Whisper and Kirby giggling.
"I'm with Mr. Big here. We will miss you, Mr. Eight. And we promise we'll come and visit again." Cream smiled with Whisper nodding.
"You'll definitely should!" Eight grinned as Munchie climbed onto his jacket pocket.
"Looks like Cream made a new friend." Sephiroth chuckled as he watched Cream and Eight hug each other.
After hugging Eight, Cream went to Sephiroth and hugged him. "And I will miss you too, Mr. Sephiroth."
"I know."
After sharing goodbyes, Cheese, Froggy, and the Wisps went back to their owners.
"Hey, Tangle?" Arusu spoke to the lemur. "I wanna say thank you for spending time with me."
"No prob, Arusu." Tangle grinned, but then shortly frowned. "Well, I'm gonna miss you, buddy."
"Me too." Arusu mirrored Tangle's expression.
Jewel approaches the two. "Hey, if you like, you can come and visit Mobius sometime."
"Really?" Arusu brightened up. "I'll definitely come and visit! But not without Sonic's permission."
"That's alright." Sonic assured. "You can come see me when you want to go to Mobius."
"Thanks, Sonic."
"Oh, before I forget," Sonic then tosses an interstellar phone to Tails. "You should be able to duplicate that thing, right?"
Tails analyzed the phone on his hands. "Hmm. This is some really advanced technology, but I'll do my best to duplicate this for all of us."
"And I can help too." Belle spoke.
"Yeah, you helped me fix Omega before, so I don't see why not."
"Oh, that's right!" Amy then hands a couple of pictures to Sonic. "These are the pictures for your album."
"Thanks, Ames." Sonic smiled. "I'll see you again."
"Same."
Sonic used his interdimensional ring to open the portal back to Mobius. His friends stepped through, but Knuckles and Shadow stayed behind.
"Huh? You're not going?" Sonic asked.
"We're assistants here." Knuckles replied.
"Despite being a waste of opportunity for me, staying here would be fine." Shadow added.
"I'm glad you said that." Sonic chuckled, then turns to his friends. "I'll see you soon."
Sonic's friends bid their goodbyes as the portal closes.
"Come on, everybody. It's getting late." Sonic said as he and the others went back to the Mansion.
