Chapter 9
Protect Chibiusa: Clash of the Warriors of Light and Darkness
Inside a church, Usagi and Mamoru were now finally getting married, as bottles of champagne splashed all over them, but it was just another dream of Usagi's. When she awoke, she suddenly saw a wet spot on her bed that made her panic.
"Why are you making such a ruckus screaming at the top of your lungs?" asked Luna.
"I don't think that's the issue here. I think someone else might have had a similar accident, back when Usagi was several years younger," said Sora as he pointed towards the wet spot on Usagi's bed.
Then suddenly the blankets shifted, and Usagi moved them away to reveal Chibiusa sleeping on the same bed, which made Sora sigh in disappointment.
"Three, two, one," he said.
CHIBIUSA!" screamed Usagi.
Inside the Black Moon Clan's starship, Wiseman's holographic image appeared before Rubeus and the assembled Spectre Sisters.
"I foresee, where the sun rises at the break of dawn. There will be an energy burst at an overpass in the district called Juban," he said.
"An overpass in the Juban District. Who will produce this energy?" asked Rubeus.
"I believe I know who, Rubeus. That girl you call the Rabbit, Chibiusa," answered Hyena.
"Hyena is correct, Rubeus," said Wiseman.
"Ah, I will send the four Spectre Sisters to keep an eye on that area," replied Rubeus.
"And what say you, Wiseman? Seeing as things aren't going so well in your timeline, Have you been able to turn Crystal Tokyo into ashes yet?" asked Hyena.
Wiseman retreated deep into his thoughts, remembering that he sent a massive invasion fleet to attack Crystal Tokyo and lay siege to the city.
"Our clan should have taken over most of the area in Crystal Tokyo by now," said Rubeus.
"True, however, powerful protective energy is bursting from the crystal points around the castle," replied Wiseman.
"Yes, that same energy that's being used by those accursed Sailor Blights, in that era. Yet they've chosen to stand in opposition against your insurrection, and are causing a massive buildup of power to keep the Crystal Palace protected," said Hyena.
"In this world, the ones known as Sailor Guardians have been constantly foiling our plans. I wonder, if there's some sort of connection between them and the four guardians of Crystal Tokyo," mused Rubeus.
"You must find the Silver Crystal as soon as possible, and destroy it," said Wiseman.
"And so it shall be done, my lord," replied Hyena, who bowed to the hologram as it faded away.
At the same time, Rubeus called the Spectre Sisters to his side, and gave them a special assignment. Meanwhile, Usagi was walking the sheets to try and get rid of the stain from Chibiusa's accident.
"I know you do some stupid things, but bed wetting at your age is beyond lame," snickered Shingo.
"Just give it a rest, Shingo. The accident wasn't Usagi's doing," replied Sora.
"It was actually Chibiusa who caused the accident, when Usagi was asleep. And believe me, she's already learned her lesson. There's really no need to place all the blame on someone who needs to understand the meaning of humility," added Riku.
But they suddenly heard the sound of a door opening and closing, making them see that Chibiusa was walking out of the house.
"Chibiusa, where are you off too?" Sora asked politely.
Chibiusa turned to face him, but suddenly ran off after looking into Sora's eyes, causing Riku to follow after her.
"Wait! Where are you going!?" she called after them.
"Let it go, Usagi. Even if you can't stand Chibiusa for what she does, that doesn't mean you should lash out at her in anger," said Sora.
"Sora's right, Chibiusa was probably feeling a little lonely," agreed Luna.
Usagi was confused, but Sora understood.
"Yeah, I guess that must be the reason why she wanted to cuddle up with you in bed, before this whole mess up started. I once thought I was all alone, after I lost Riku and Kairi, when Destiny Islands was destroyed by Xehanort's Heartless, Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. But then I met Donald and Goofy, who helped me reunite with them, and we even found King Mickey together. So you see, I understand Chibiusa's decision to be with you," he said.
"I know what you mean, Sora," replied Usagi.
"And the same goes for me too," agreed Luna.
"Well anyway, You'd better go find her and let her know that you're sorry you yelled at her. Don't worry, I'll go inform Rei and the others that I'll go shopping with them in your stead. But be careful Usagi, now that we've seen how Chibiusa's power erupts when she's scared or upset, it'll draw Koan, Berthier, Petz, and Calaveras to her," said Sora.
"Okay, I'll apologize," sighed Usagi.
"We've gotta find her, quickly. We need to spread out and go in different directions. So you go the other way," said Luna.
Usagi sighed, until Sora placed his hand on her shoulder.
"I promise you, Usagi. Once Chibiusa accepts your apology, the two of you can learn a little more about each other later on. But for now, we should get going," he said.
"Gotcha," smiled Usagi, and they hurried off.
Once Usagi was gone, Sora glanced carefully around to make certain he was alone, and contacted Kairi.
"Sora, it's nice to see you," she said.
"Hey Kairi, Chibiusa left Usagi's house after an embarrassing accident last night. Right now, Luna needs us to go and find her so that Usagi can apologize to her for ratting her out," replied Sora.
"Okay, I'll let the others know what's going on," said Kairi.
"Thanks Kairi, but be careful. Sora out," replied Sora.
On the overpass, Chibiusa sat on the stairs holding the Luna P in her arms, while Riku stood watch for any danger.
"What's Usagi's problem? I'm just a kid. It's not so weird I wet the bed," she said.
"I know, Chibiusa. But still, accidents can happen from time to time, no matter our age. During a sparring match with Sora, I accidentally made his hand go numb when I smacked it with a toy sword. I was ashamed of myself, but Kairi told me that I shouldn't take all the blame for what happened, and learned to accept the light of forgiveness," replied Riku.
Although Chibiusa listened, she was thinking about her mother, when she told her about the same accident she had in her own bed, only to be comforted by her mother, who told her the same words Kairi said to Riku. She still desperately wanted to go back home to her parents, and took out the key she wore around her neck, remembering Sailor Pluto's warning about it. Then she dropped Luna P to the ground, and tried to use it again.
"Chibiusa, no!" cried Riku.
At first it worked for her, and she slowly began to float upwards, believing that she had done it, but she collapsed to the ground, and cried loudly, forcing Riku to cover his eyes as her power burst up into the sky. This caused Usagi, Sora and all their friends to find out what was going on. When the power burst faded, everything seemed peaceful at first.
"Oh my, what's wrong? Did something sad happen?" Berthier asked in a faux friendly tone.
"Are you working with Koan, Petz, and Calaveras!?" demanded Riku, as he readied his keyblade.
"Why yes I am, Riku," she replied.
Chibiusa was shocked, but turned to see Koan from atop the stairs.
"Stop right there, sister! I spotted her energy way before you did," she barked.
"Funny, I think you both sensed it and came after her at the same time," remarked Riku.
'What was that!?" shouted the two Spectre Sisters.
"Well in any case, let's see who kills them first, before they call for help, and see who the real winner is?" suggested Koan.
"You're crazy! Not a chance!" snapped Riku, as he brandished his Keyblade and stood his ground.
Koan and Berthier were amused, but they admired Riku's determination, until Luna P rolled under the dark water user's foot, and made her slip and fall.
"Now's our chance, go!" Riku said.
In a rush, he and Chibiusa ran as fast as they could, as they stepped on Berthier's back, making her wince.
"Better luck next time, Berthier!" called Riku.
"I couldn't agree more, Riku!" remarked Koan, who jumped over them and landed in front of them.
"Let's have at it," she said to Riku.
Luna P tried to do the same, but Koan smacked it away.
"How dare you!" shouted Riku, as he rushed her.
But Koan blocked his attack with a dark firewall, and forced him back. The instant she did, Luna lunged at the Dark Fire user, and flipped her onto her back with a few claw marks.
"Bye!" smirked Riku, as he and Chibiusa darted off, while Berthier laughed in amusement, only to be bonked on the head by Luna P.
Enraged at being thwarted, they sent Luna flying, and covered up their bruises with makeup. Then they pursued their assailants through the city, leaving a beaten Luna behind. Meanwhile, the rest of Usagi's friends had met up with each other for the shopping trip.
"Usagi sure is late today. I wonder what's keeping her," said Ami.
"Ah, I wouldn't worry about her too much. Besides, she and Chibiusa were gonna get some Sea-Salt Ice cream later," replied Sora who arrived.
"Wait, sea-salt ice cream?" asked Makoto.
"What the heck is that?" Rei asked as well.
"Well, it's a special ice cream that's both salty and sweet at the same time," inquired Minako.
But Artemis suddenly saw Luna limping towards them, and hurriedly jumped out of Minako's arms to see if she was alright.
"What's wrong, Luna?" asked Sora.
"Very bad news. The enemy's closing in on Chibiusa," replied the cat.
"Tell us Luna, where have they gone now?" Terra asked.
"Near Juban park by the overpass," breathed Luna.
"You'd better hurry," said Artemis.
"Okay then. Artemis, stay with Luna and patch her up. Everyone else, let's look for Chibiusa!" said Sora.
"Roger!" everyone replied, and they raced off into the distance.
"May your hearts be your guiding key," he whispered to them.
At that same moment, Chibusa and Riku had managed to reach the construction site, when Usagi spotted her.
"Is that Chibiusa, Where could she be going?" asked Usagi.
Sora landed beside her, as she followed them, then he too followed Usagi, just as the two soul siblings took cover. Quickly ducking down, Usagi hid herself, but wanted to know how Chibiusa was feeling. Usagi didn't want to apologize, but she remembered Sora's words about how forgiveness always creates light, rather than darkness, when she suddenly heard the little girl weep.
"Puu," she whimpered.
"What's wrong, Small lady?" asked Sailor Pluto.
Usagi and Sora had never heard this voice before.
"Don't cry, you are a strong girl," Sailor Pluto said calmly.
"I know what you mean, Sailor Pluto. But, I can sense her fear," replied Riku.
"I understand, Riku. She has powerful friends who are always there to help you," said Sailor Pluto.
"I don't have any friends," sobbed Chibiusa.
Usagi and Sora were confused as to who this Sailor Pluto was, as they listened.
"Chibiusa, you don't believe that. I know you don't," Riku assured the young girl.
"Riku's right. The Sailor Guardians, and the Keyblade Wielders have come to your aid many times," agreed Sailor Pluto.
"Well yeah, but those bad guys are too powerful. They scare me. They hurt my mommy, and made her end up like that, and even daddy couldn't beat them," cried Chibiusa.
"Do you also remember that in the early days of your life?" asked Sailor Pluto.
Chibiusa nodded once.
"There were also Sailor Guardians and Keyblade Wielders, who also looked after you in the future capital. They were by your side, whenever you needed them. Those same warriors are fighting to protect Crystal Tokyo as we speak. And even in the world you are in right now, you must trust those people, especially Sailor Moon and her knight, Sora. They will always do whatever it takes to always protect you," Sailor Pluto said.
Then the image faded, and Chibiusa called to her, but she started to weep again.
"Chibiusa, I think I understand now," whispered Sora.
Even Usagi understood as well, until they heard Koan's voice, letting them know that she cornered both Chibiusa and Riku.
"Bet you didn't think I'd find you hiding in here," said Koan.
"Maybe so. But I won't let you hurt Chibiusa. If you're feeling so chatty, let's skip to the part where you reveal what this is all about," replied Riku.
"Ah, of course. You once turned your back on Sora for power, when you came to Radiant Garden, when it was Hollow Bastion at the time. Maleficent found you, trained you, even taught you how to wield the power of darkness, until Xehanort's Heartless, Ansem turned you into his puppet, and made you try and kill those you cherished," explained Koan.
'Yes, I was a naive fool back then. I accepted violence and darkness and Xehanort called to me, as the Seeker of Darkness. He made me his puppet and forced me to try and kill Sora. I fought for him, I turned on my friends, but I have found redemption. Even after everything I'd done, I still couldn't forgive myself, but it was thanks to Mickey I was able to re-embrace the light, and even turn that darkness into light by walking the road to dawn. Through Sora, I was able to meet with someone who was lost in darkness. A girl called Sunset Shimmer, who once tried to use the power of the crown of friendship, which bore the element magic. And it's thanks to this mark on my hand, we've become something more. You can view what I've said as nothing but mere words, But I'll fight for the light, even if I use the power of darkness to protect those I love," said Riku.
As he readied his Keyblade, a flash of light made him realize that Usagi was coming to the rescue as Sailor Moon, with Sora joining her.
"Koan, this stops here!" he said, stepping out from behind a pile of steel beams.
"Sora's right!" agreed Sailor Moon.
"Cursed blights!" snarled Koan.
"You'd better leave Chibiusa alone, or Sailor Moon and I are gonna have to get serious about taking you down, Koan!" Sora said bravely.
Sailor Moon nodded, as she landed beside Chibiusa to keep her safe.
"Well, I've got allies myself," smirked Koan.
As she stepped back, Koan motioned for Petz, Calaveras, and Berthier to introduce themselves to her foes.
"We come from the tenth planet in this solar system. The Black Moon. We're the Spectre Sisters," the four of them said.
"Okay…?" Sora said with a confused glance.
But the sound of footsteps made them turn to see that their friends had come to the rescue. There stood the Sailor Guardians and the rest of Sora's friends, all ready for battle. But they hadn't barely begun, when Hyena R. Droid arrived, with a battalion of Heartless behind him.
"It's over, you fools! I've dreamed of nothing else, for years!" he said.
"Last chance Hyena, end this now," replied Sora.
"And I shall," sneered the cybernetic Keyblade wielder of Darkness.
He raised his weapon into the sky, as everyone stood in a no holds barred battle.
"ATTACK!" screamed Hyena.
Everyone charged at each other, as the construction site turned into a battlefield, as Sailor Moon and Chibiusa watched the conflict before them. The rival groups fought furiously against each other, while Sora and his friends fought the Heartless under Hyena's command, as well as Hyena himself.
"Go for the eyes! Break their jaws! Hit them low! Get them! Do what you must!" cried Hyena.
Then suddenly, several violet orbs flew towards Sailor Moon and struck her, causing her intense pain as she shielded Chibiusa from the attack.
"Sailor Moon!" cried Sora rushing to her side, as he broke his clash with Hyena.
Everyone was shocked to hear Sailor Moon's cry of pain, as Sora stood and glared up at her attacker.
"Playtime is over," Rubeus said.
"You're going to pay for hurting Sailor Moon right in front of me!" Sora shouted furiously at him.
"Before you do, I am Crimson Rubeus of the Black Moon Clan," replied Rubeus.
"Why are you after her!?" Sora and Sailor Moon demanded furiously.
"We are on a mission to change the future of this metropolis, and the only way for that to happen is for her to die!" remarked Rubeus.
Sailor Moon and Chibiusa watched in horror, as Rubeus fired more violet energy bolts at them, but Sora deflected them one by one with his Keyblade. Luckily Sailor Moon was able to jump clear of a stray shot, but several more surged towards her, and sent her crashing against the wall, as she held Chibiusa tightly in her arms. Suddenly, she remembered how sad Chibiusa was when she sat on the swings, and fell into unconsciousness, making Chibiusa call to her. Sailor Moon knew that while Chibiusa was different from the others. She couldn't bring herself to hate her no matter how much she wanted to, as Rubeus loomed over them.
"It's all over," he said.
"Not quite," Sailor Moon replied determinedly.
"We're not gonna lose to you. Nor will Sailor Moon and I let you hurt anyone else on our watch, Rubeus," added Sora.
"We will protect her with our lives!" they said together.
Hyena laughed maniacally, as he stalked towards his prey.
"Then you will die, braver than most!" he said.
Rubeus was surprised, when a rose landed between them.
"How dare you go and threaten these people! I'll never forgive you!" Tuxedo Mask said.
"Be silent you fool!" snapped Rubeus, sending dark power towards him.
But the caped crusader jumped out of the way, landed beside them, and countered another attack from Rubeus, temporarily blinding him.
"All right Sailor Moon, let's show Chibiusa what we're made of!" Sora said.
"Okay," replied Sailor Moon.
They stood up and glared at Rubeus.
"OUR FAMILY IS OUR POWER!" they said together.
"Impossible!" gasped Rubeus.
He watched in horror as the two allies readied their weapons to strike him down.
"Moon Princess Halation!" cried Sailor Moon.
"And now, HOLY!" called Sora.
Rubeus looked up, and saw the two attacks coming towards him. But he quickly teleported away, and ordered the Specter Sisters and Hyena to make a hasty retreat. But right as the Specter Sisters were about to oblige his orders, Sora kicked him hard onto the ground after performing a running jump.
"Cursed boy!" he snapped, as he slowly recovered.
"You wanna know something about me, Rubeus? Well here it is. You should've just left Sailor Moon and her friends alone! But, there's more from me that you haven't learned about yet. If you mess with Sailor Moon, then you mess with me. And if you mess with one of my friends, then you mess with all of them. And now, I'm gonna make you guys pay for trying to get them killed, even if it means violating my oath to never kill anyone without a good reason, unless those who wield the power of darkness have fallen too far deep into it, and their only sentence is death. That's the difference between us, because sooner or later, you'll come to realize that terrible truth, and it'll result in your immediate downfall," Sora explained to his adversary.
"Even still, you'll also pay for hurting Master Rubeus, Sora Lucis Caelum!" barked Koan.
"Maybe, Koan, but I do know something from my previous meeting with one of your sisters, Berthier, who chose to speak to me of her own volition, thanks to what Calaveras and Petz told you and her about me. And that I really dislike it when my friends are tricked into going at each other's throats like rabid wolves, thanks to the machinations of a much more terrible force of darkness. Personally, I may not have given a crap about who you were, when or where you came from, what group you're part of, or why you want Chibiusa lying dead at your feet, so that you can make her bones a trophy for your Black Moon Clan. But still, I did sense something within one of your hearts. And that something was internal conflict. You may think that what you're doing is for Rubeus' benefit, but you're wrong. One of these days he'll turn his back on all of you, and declare that you're just dead weight to him, and when he does, you'll end up destroying yourselves, which is something I refuse to let come to pass," Sora continued.
"Shut up! SHUT UP! SHUT UP OR I'LL REALLY WANT TO KILL YOU, SORA!" barked Petz.
"Petz, don't. Just don't," Berthier tried to warn her sister.
"Berthier, what are you talking about?" questioned Calaveras.
"Because I know he's right, Calaveras. And what he just said was true. We both chose to talk to each other, rather than fight it out, or have one of the many droids we still have at our side to start trouble in this city. And my meeting with Sora made me start to think, even though my loyalty lies with all of you. But failing Rubeus once more until he decides that he's had enough of us might one day come to pass, and it could lead to us going down the path of self-destruction," she explained.
"That's preposterous!" snapped her eldest sister.
"I agree, Petz. I think it's time we reduced Sora to ashes at once, rather than listen to his lies and deceptions," agreed their youngest sister.
"That actually sounds like a good idea, Koan. Reducing Sora Lucis Caelum to ashes will most certainly fill our hearts with joy, and the so-called conflict in your hearts that he spoke of will be gone forever," agreed Rubeus.
"Sora, no! You can't take them on on your own! You'll die!" cried Chibiusa.
"Maybe, but after seeing what they did, I'm afraid they're still adamant on wanting us all dead. Even you, Chibiusa. I can tell that you share a very strong bond with both Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask, and that's something I refuse to let be ground to dust, thanks to the chains of light that connect our hearts to each other," Sora replied quietly.
"But-" she tried to protest.
"Chibiusa, please, let Sora do this for both your sake, as well as our own. After all, he does have the same fighting spirit that Sailor Moon has in his heart," Tuxedo Mask assured her.
"Yeah, I agree with him on this one. Believe me, he'll be okay, because I also acknowledge his belief about what he said to them," agreed Sailor Moon.
"Then we'd better stay out of this, guys," said Riku.
(Get ready to play Rob Zombie's Superbeast for this deadly five on one clash between Sora, Rubeus, and the Specter Sisters)
Everyone else nodded in agreement, until Sora and his five adversaries charged at each other in a deadly battle of attrition. Without warning, Rubeus and the Specter Sisters all attacked Sora at once, but the young Keyblade Master jumped away from them. He landed on the ground, as they all prepared to dog pile him, he readied his Keyblade, then lunged right at them as well. What followed was the most deadly yet intense clash that would easily make Sailor Mercury truly disturbed, if she saw her friend step out badly wounded despite fighting against five enemies at once.

"Wretched boy!" scowled Petz as she blasted him with Dark Lightning, only to see him dodge out of the way.
The battle continued even more furiously than before, but Sora still refused to lose to them, as his strong desire to protect his friends and allies from death gave him all the strength he needed to fight back with all his heart, despite everyone's concern for him choosing to fight for their safety, whilst risking his own neck.

Koan and Berthier tried to use Dark Fire and Dark Water against him, but their attacks collided against each other, and they were both struck down by him, forcing Calaveras to try and strike him with her whip, the Dark Beaut. However, Sora caught it with his one free hand while ignoring the pain from letting it wrap around his wrist which slowly began bleeding, then flipped her over him, making her land hard on the ground with a loud crash, which did make Sailor Jupiter wince at this horrific display. Now, only Rubeus remained, and they both charged furiously against each other in a deadly clash of attrition.

Finally, Rubeus fell to the ground with a loud crash, battered and beaten, alongside the Specter Sisters who suffered their worst defeat yet after he was knocked down by a fierce punch to the face from Sora. All five cursed themselves for this form of humiliation, while Sora landed near them. He saw that one of them was about to signal the Heartless to commence the slaughter of his friends and allies, when he made one of their hands suddenly go numb, by striking their wrists with the butt of his Keyblade.
"No. You will not call the Heartless here to attack them," Sora said, having learned a valuable lesson about evil always finding a way from one of his friends, who also happened to be another great teacher like Yen Sid, Eraqus, and Merlin: Samurai Jack.
"Fine, then we'll withdraw our forces for now. But understand this, Sora Lucis Caelum. Both you and your friends will suffer our fury, and then you will die," Rubeus remarked, and both he and his allies retreated through the dark corridors.
"Yeah, well we'll be ready for whatever you throw at us, so you can count on it," Sora shot back at their wounded forms as they made their retreat.
After they left, Sailor Mercury, without thinking, ran up to Sora and hugged him tightly, catching him by surprise, as well as making him drop his Keyblade to the ground, which vanished before their eyes.
"Oh, Sora. I was so worried when you fought them without our help. But still, I'm so glad you defeated them without the need to spill any blood," she said as tears of relief rolled down her cheeks.
The others had to agree, but Sailor Mars was most annoyed at him.
"What the heck were you even thinking, you idiot!? I get that you hate it when we get hurt, just like Sailor Moon does, but that doesn't mean you should just fight them off on your own! What if you did die by their hands!? Huh? HUH!? You know that it'd actually make Sailor Moon's heart break, and her morality would be 100% compromised, making her want them dead without any second thoughts!" she snapped.
"Mars! That's enough. What's done is done, and you know as well as I do that Sora does share Sailor Moon's belief about why losing you would easily leave several more scars on his heart, just like when he gained that one scar from learning about his father's decision to leave him in peace. But it's that same scar that made him realize that losing people he considers to be like family to him fuels his desire to keep them safe and protected, just as he did with Chibiusa," interjected the caped crusader.
"But…" Mars tried to say.
"Sailor Mars. Tuxedo Mask is right. Enough," Venus said firmly, as she slowly walked up to Sora, and gently took hold of his hand.
This made Mercury slowly step aside after she released him from her embrace.
