Team RWBY, DMON, CRST and RUSH were waiting outside the infirmary waiting for their team mates to come out.
Silva appeared in a flash, much calmer than she was in the forest..
"Got it out of your system?" Silver asked warily.
"Oh gods yes. I'll take the first shift watching Yinsen" Silva nodded to her teammates as she joined her peers near the entrance to the infirmary.
"I can't believe your Dad went nuts on our team leaders. Seriously Naomi what the hell is wrong with him!?" Francesca asked.
"Hey, My dad's got a good heart and is easy to get along with unless something pisses him off... like upsetting his warrior's pride." Naomi said.
"I'll be honest I want to slug your dad in the face for how far he took it." Francesca said.
"Beat ya to it." Silva smirked, causing the group to stare at her in shock. "What?"
"YOU PUNCHED MY DAD IN THE FACE?!" Naomi yelled at the normally shy cat faunus.
"Do I need to answer that?" Silva shot back, her eyes full of rage. "He hurt my partner. My friend. Someone I have grown to trust, Goodwitch is the only reason he's not joining them in the infirmary."
"Look I know my dad may be abrasive but he's a good man and taught me a lot when growing up, including how to fight". Naomi rebutted.
Silva just stared at the blue-haired huntress, slowly losing her anger. "You think that just because he's your father, that he's right? Fathers are people! They're not gods! They're just people!...and people... People can fail.." Silva's eyes were now tearing up. "People can die."
"Silva..." Naomi started raising her hand to her friend's shoulder. "I-"
"Don't!" Silva snapped.
"Okay" Naomi put her hand down without any sign of protest on her.
Silver was the only one to approach his sister, giving her a hug. "I gotcha Silva. I gotcha."
As if on cue, Iskandar exited the infirmary still groaning in pain "Izzy, are you okay?" Yang asked concerned.
"I'm fine." Iskandar groans "However, I'm definitely going to be sore over the next couple of days. Anyway, I'm going to go somewhere private and rest a bit. I have a feeling when Yinsen wakes up he'll most likely go on a rant about how Cu is a butthole and I honestly don't want to hear that right now." Iskandar said as he started to limp away.
"Izzy, you're still hurt you gotta-" Yang went to go help him walk, taking his hand.
"NO!" the dragon faunus roared, yanking his hand away. His next words were quiet. "No... Please Yang just... let me have this." as he resumed to limp away. Yang just stood there concerned about Iskandar's current emotional state.
"Wow. I guess your dad really got to him." Blake said.
"Mom's going to ride his ass for that...and not the fun way." Naomi said.
"Anyway you guys do whatever, I'm going to go back to the room." Francesca said as she wandered off.
"Right now I'd do just about anything for a better atmosphere." Silver groaned, still holding his sister in his arms.
Francesca entered her room and saw the package on her bed. She curiously draws herself closer to the package and saw a letter attached to it, she picked up the letter opening it and pulling out the message.
'To my beautiful daughter Francesca, I hope you have gotten our letter. It took a lot of effort and a favour from Headmaster Lionheart to find out which academy you were at. I understand that you don't want to talk to us after that night, but please hear this old fool out. I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for hitting you, I'm sorry for letting it go so far and sorry for denying you your true calling. I should have known from the start you would have been too stubborn to listen to my pleas. But I was afraid for you. Afraid that you would share the same fate as your uncle and I just love you too much to die like he did.
But I know that being a huntress is what you are most passionate about. And as your parents, we should have supported you and helped you become the best huntress you can be, instead of letting our fear hold you back. Francesca Merdez, you now have my blessing as well as your mother's, brothers' and sisters', even little Bacca, to become a huntress. I hope your teammates treat you well and that you have good friends to help you with your goal. I know you'll be a better hunter than I one day. I know it, with all my heart and soul.
Your father, Manuelo Merdez
Francesca covers her mouth, overwhelmed by the words that she thought she would never witness in any way. Tears welled in her eyes
P.S.
'That being said it still would be a shame to waste your cooking talents as well. Remnant would become a much drearier place without those brownies you make. Your delicacies would even make gods beg before you. Ah damn it, now I made myself hungry.' she kept reading laughing at her father's words.
P.P.S.
"I hope you love your gift, think of me, your mother and your uncle whenever you wear it into battle" the note read on
Francesca opened the package and her eyes widened in surprise.
Raku Yonopolis walks out of the infirmary as A dark skinned woman with short pink hair in a bun wearing a doctor's coat was trying to get him to stay.
"I said I'm fine Professor Peach" Raku said.
"Damn it, stop being stubborn, young man! I don't care how much pain tolerance you think you have. I must know your body's present condition!" Peach shouted from behind the door as he was in the doorway.
"Trust me Professor Peach. You're better off not knowing." Raku stated with a dead tone.
He then shut the door to see his teammates, Teams RWBY, with Leonidas and Naomi, Naomi being concerned.
"Raku you ok?" Ruby asked innocently.
"I'm fine Ruby. I've been through worse" Raku replied.
'...Cu only took out my energy shields with a few blows. I can't believe that monster is Naomi's father' He thought.
"Raku I think you should let her look at you. Just in case." Maria said with concern.
"Yeah, Who knows? What dad did could cause problems in the long run." Naomi said with equal concern.
"I said I'm FINE." Raku bellowed.
The tone he used honestly scared Maria, Naomi, and Ruby. Yang glared at the fact that he scared Ruby a bit. And Uldren was just about ready to try making his stubborn team leader see reason as to the girls' concern.
"I've been through much. MUCH!, worse than a spar like that. I've been doing this type of work for years. This is but even a scratch."
" What leader from Atlas is stupid enough to not get his wounds checked?! Even an Atlas Officer always asks for help when they know they need it, so stop acting like you're invincible when you are just as vulnerable as the rest of us!" Weiss stated into his face literally closing in into his visor.
"Ah, Weiss..." Blake started as she noticed Raku's body language starting to tense, his hands tightly balling into fists.
"Schnee." Raku growled in anger, which startled everyone that heard it. "Get back in line. Or I will hurl you through this floor into the one below us face first." Raku stated with authority, anger, and malice. The intensity of it had the Schnee Heiress struggling to breathe as his cold red visor got closer to her face.
He then turned around.
"I'm taking a walk. Call me if you need me. RUSH... you three know where the dorm room is. Report there at your own time. But do not be out longer than 2100. I don't want to have to hunt you down." Raku stated as he stomped away from the group.
Everyone turned to Weiss as she shook with fear. Weiss never felt this afraid even when she told her father off about wanting to be a huntress. Maria and Naomi however had concern in their eyes. Seeing the kindness he displayed with his child and his willingness to help her was a sharp contrast to the sheer rage that he displayed. To go from stoic yet kind to authoritarian and cold didn't seem like the Raku she met that day.
Maria stared down the hall Raku just stormed down. She debated going after him, but knew he had to cool off before asking him.
Raku's footsteps echoed through the halls. Students who saw him or heard his feet hit the floor knew there was a bit of anger in them and eagerly moved out of his way. His fisted hands gripped his own fingers so loud people thought they heard the sound of the body suit's combat gloves scream in strain.
He thought back to when he and his fire team had their first mission.
The objective was a simple hostage rescue. Their opponents were the "Predators". The White Fang's, elite black ops unit. They fought like faunus possessed... using talons, claws, teeth when their weapons failed. He barely made it out of that mess alone.
"Frederick that man was killed a month ago. There's no way Iskandar could be that same man." his AI Carolina stated in his head.
"Cross reference everything he's done and where he's been for the past few years. Either way, something's off about him." Raku stated.
"Frederick please, it can't be him! He was confirmed dead from the last Sleeper agent you killed a week ago." Carolina said
"Just do it." Raku stated in an assertive tone, barely restraining himself from shouting it.
The A.I sighed "Fine." Carolina stated as she went to work.
Raku opened the door to his dorm and sat on his new bed. He contemplated his current position. Leader...of another fire team. He had lost every fire team to the Predators over the years every time they raided their White fang bases. One after another they fell by his side. Be it from a bullet, explosive, slashing, crushing, or just mentally fell apart. He hated leading people. Every time he did, no matter what choice he made. Someone died. Even ... even her. Someone he cared for dearly.
The door creaked open, causing him to jump and turn to it.
"Hey... are you sure you're okay?" Maira asked as she entered the room.
Raku just looked away. She then walked next to him and sat on the bed next to him directly facing him. She looked down then back at him. She smiled with a bit of melancholy.
Raku remained silent.
"Look. I'm not asking to tell me your life story. We're just worried about you. I know you may have been through a rough patch. Just remember, we're here for you okay?" She asked.
Raku only nodded. She smiled as she just stayed with him... "Strange..." Maria thought "This feels... familiar."
Silva was pacing around Yinsen's bed, fearing for his well being despite the care he's been given.
Yinsen groaned as he started to wake.
Silva's gaze darted to the bedridden Yinsen "Oh, you're awake." She said with a smile, trying to sound as casual as possible.
Yinsen's eyes snapped open. The white ceiling and the somewhat comfortable feeling on his back told him he was in the infirmary.
The leader growled. He grips his hand into a fist, crystallizing it.
'I should have turned him into a museum piece!'
'Oh, because THAT would have been keeping a low profile'
Yinsen could not find a word to say in retort. He slammed his hand against the wall behind him in frustration, causing Silva to yelp and jump back in surprise.
'If i ever see that sanctimonious punk again, I'm turning his lungs into a christmas ornament!' he thought.
"I take it you're still angry about the fight?" Silva timidly asked.
Yinsen sharply turned to Silva with a burning anger in his eyes.
Silva's eyes widened a bit and moved her arms up defensively, activating Silver's iron scales in fear.
"oh... it's just you Silva." Yinsen said, forcing himself to calm down.
Silva could only nod at first. "….. Are you still angry?" Silva asked again, once she mustered courage.
"Yeah... sorry" Yinsen apologized, his anger completely disappearing.
'Well, well, it's unlike you to clam up your anger. Are you that desperate to show off your best side?'
'Yes, Because if this leader thing is going to stick, she at least needs to believe I won't lash out at a moment's notice.'
'A convenient excuse.'
"It's fine. I know you're not angry at me." Silva responded as she played with her hair, still a little nervous.
Yinsen looked around, seeing the beds empty. "Where is everyone else?"
"We're taking turns. The nurse won't let more than one person at a time." Silva explained.
"I meant, the other two stooges that prick deemed unworthy." Yinsen clarified pointing to the now empty beds
"The asshole didn't do as much damage to Raku and Iskandar dragged himself out for some weird reason. I've met mules less stubborn." Silva said concerned.
"Who's Raku?" Yinsen asked in genuine confusion
"He's that guy in the Atlas looking armor." Silva reminded her possibly concussed teammate. "His armor took the brunt of the assault, so he got off with only some bruises. Some type of energy shield. Kinda cool."
'Something to investigate later... '
'The kid's also from Atlas. I could tell... his heart just screams "Pragmatic, and loner"... not unlike yours".'
''Was that sarcasm?'
'Mild teasing, at best.'
Yinsen let out a sigh, " Goddamn huntsman... Maybe It was a mistake to come here..."
"No it isn't!" Silva shouted in alarm. "Everyone comes here for a reason!"
Yinsen raised his hand "Hear me out on this..." He waited for Silva to calm down. "I never needed to be a hunter to do good in the world."
"What do you mean by that?" The silver haired cat faunus asked.
"You don't necessarily need a hunter's license to do good... just some above average weapons training and enough knowledge on where to go and who to help." Yinsen stated.
Silva stood there in silence to think about what he said. "If that's what you honestly believe, then why did you come here at all?" She questioned her partner, looking into his eyes.
"I only came here since this way is less of a hassle in the long run... Hunters are generally more respected and listened to than non-hunters. Anyone else is just a random more likely to make trouble." Yinsen bitterly said. "Like Cu. No one even questioned if they knew what he was doing. They just took it all in stride. Just believed every piece of crap that came out of his mouth without complaint, or retort." Yinsen brought his fist to his chest and crystallized it in anger, only for Silva to grab his hand.
"If he comes back looking for a fight, I got your back" Silva said confidently, crystallizing her hand to match Yinsen's. "Silver and I built up a little deal: If our friends are hurt, well, lets just say that it would NOT be pretty."
Yinsen stared at the girl who called him a friend. The girl who'd rather avoid the fight than start one, and yet here she is to promise to fight someone beyond her level... For him of all people.
"Why would you even go that far? You've barely known me for 2 months."The crystal user asked in confusion.
"Oh... um... well... I guess I was ok calling us friends since you actually treated me like a person, instead of an add-on for my brother." Silva stammered, not expecting him to question it.
"Why would I treat you like anything else?". Yinsen asked.
Silva closed her eyes for a moment before taking a seat next to Yinsen. She let out a calm breath and looked to Yinsen with nothing but sincerity.
"Everyone except you, Silver, and Grey just treat me like I exist. Someone in the background. You guys treat me like I mean something. When you look at me, you don't see a girl with everyone's power, you see a girl with potential. It's the same look Ozpin gave me when he met me and welcomed me to Beacon." Silva said staring into his eyes
Yinsen internally flinched.
Okay these lines are sounding disturbingly familiar... but where have I heard them before?
"One of those love stories you like to read?" the voice in Yinsen's head spoke, picking up on Yinsen's unease
'shut uuuuup.' He thought mentally gritting his teeth
"How long am I going to be here?" Yinsen asked, changing the subject.
"The nurses will let you out tonight or tomorrow, but until you get back to 100%, I'm helping you. Silver and Grey will take notes for us." Silva explained
"That won't be necessary. I'm completely fine."
"Sorry, but until further notice, I outrank you."she said with a smirk
"Oh fuck that!" Yinsen tried to get up from the bed but winced from the pain in his side from where his crystal cracked.
Silva pushes him back onto the bed gently with a frown. "What's the rush? You can't exactly do much when you're in this state"
"I have a few things to say to Naomi's asshole of a father." Yinsen groaned
"Would knowing that he was bitch slapped by a 15-year-old help fix that?" Silva asked with a grin.
Yinsen blinked. "Wait... Ruby bitch slapped Naomi's dad?" He asked, in disbelief.
"Nope. All me. Her Semblance helped, though. Yours too." Silva said, almost shattering his disbelief.
Yinsen stared for a few moments before relaxing into his seat and smiling. "Heh... hope you got pictures."
"Sorry. I was too angry to think about that. You should've seen how hard he hit the ground." Silva smiled, glad to see she was helping Yinsen's mood.
"Oh, I definitely should have" The two laughed at the mental image of Cu on the floor with a handprint on his cheek. "That cheered me up a lot... thank you.. I didn't think you had it in you."
"It's not easy for me to hurt people... except maybe PLTM and CRDL. It's a simple matter of getting under my skin and making it hurt." Silva said, unknowingly crushing the metal railing on Yinsen's bed.
"PLTM?" Yinsen asked, hiding his wince from Silva's display of strength.
"Cleopatra's team. That girl who gave Naomi hell." Silva said, thinking Yinsen should've known.
"Oh, her... don't touch them until I'm done with them, understand?" Yinsen asked authoritatively
"No promises if they do anything to you, Silver, or Grey." Silva answered, her eyes flickering a black color before becoming normal.
"Fair enough. Can you believe Naomi's dad's problem with me? A lack of weapons isn't exactly an issue with my powers" Yinsen said.
"Did you have a weapon before?" Silva asked in curiosity, only ever seeing him making random weapons depending on the situation.
"Eh... it was a lifetime ago. Had to leave it behind." Yinsen shrugged.
"I'm sure you had your reasons." Silva said. "Want to remake it?"
"There is no replacing the original, forget it, I won't do that to her." Yinsen said sternly.
"Fair enough... we can still make you a weapon. To use regularly so you don't have to rely on just your semblance." Silva said calmly
"Look I appreciate the sentiment but I'm fine as is"
"You know, people would stop thinking you're an ass if you mellowed out a bit." Silva responded uncharacteristically coldly.
"The hell are you even mad about?" Yinsen asked, caught off guard by the sudden switch in Silva's personality.
"I'm here to keep an eye on you and thought you'd like the idea of making a weapon to rely on when your semblance isn't enough." She replied, her coldness growing.
Yinsen sighs... 'Well what was it that mom always said?... "telling a story often helps communicate a problem?"'
"My weapon was called Star Sapphire. It was a tri-section double edged halberd with separation features. An old weapon. No mechashifting. It still did the job just as well as any other."
"Then where is it?" Silva asked.
"I left it... I couldn't bear to look at the damn thing... me and my brother worked on it together... without him it was just another memory... I tried making something else but it never really worked out the way I wanted... never really felt like mine.".
Silva remained quiet. She didn't need words to put the implications together. "How long has he been gone?"
"Not important. The point is... I could never get a weapon done right... So I was content to just grit it and make it through with these" Yinsen crystalized his arms for emphasis.
Silva only responded with a nod of her head, tears starting to return. "I think this will help us both... Excuse me."Silva exited the room in haste.
"...I don't believe it... you actually told her about Trojan... I mean you didn't give her the details but still."
'Hopefully this will get her off my back.'
Doubt it.
Silva returned with a slightly calmer look on her face, wiping the last of her tears. "I have an idea to help." She said to her team leader
"What?" Yinsen asked. Damn. So much for that.
"Let's do this." Silva demanded, moving her arms out.
"This?" Yinsen asked. "What's "This"?"
"My ultimate weapon for those who close off their hearts to the world." Silva explained ominously.
"You are not funny." Yinsen deadpanned.
"I'm not trying to be funny." Silva deadpanned as well, much to Yinsen's worry.
'Please tell me she didn't find my "Advanced Interrogations 101" book.'
'No, that's exactly where you left it. But you may want to brace yourself anyway... I see where this is going.
'She's not stripping is she?'
'No, but it's arguably worse.'
What could be worse than that?
Silva took a deep breath, then leaned forwards a little, and wrapped her arms around Yinsen in a hug.
Ooooooh... Ooooooooh... yeah… that's bad ... Do me a favor and cut off my amygdala for the time being.
'Nope.'
You are NOT leaving me to hang to THIS!
I Can, I will, and I am.
Silva sighed softly and relaxed her arms.'
"Silva, stop it." Yinsen ordered trying not to show how much that single sigh changed his entire mood.
"Please let me build a weapon for you." She pleaded, looking up into his eyes with her own twinkling, storm-gray pair
Yinsen remained silent
"Please." There was nothing dangerous in her voice. No hints of deception, no self satisfaction at this technique working. Just genuine good samaritan kindness. And nothing scared Yinsen more than that simple fact.
'Saynothingsaynothingsaynothing'
The straw that broke the camel's back was the single tear Silva shed.
"Alright alright already!" Yinsen yelled, giving in to the powers of Silva's Ultimate Emotion Attack. Yinsen then starts pushing her. "Now will you get off please? You already got what you want."
'Well, I certainly know who's doing chores in the house.' The voice teased.
'Works every time' Silva mentally complimented herself as she released him, then sat on the bed next to him, their shoulders touching "Now...Lets talk payback." she said.
Yinsen's eyes brightened significantly and his mouth began to move.
"Weneedasituationhecan' ,hecanjustkeepthrowingwooduntilitmakesasecondfiretoputthefirstfireoutfaster. Hiswifelovesandbelievesinhimtodeath, sohavinghimputtinghimin"it'snotwhatitlookslike" ,andmaybe Goodwitchherselfsinceshedidn'tseemtolikehimthatmucheither. I WILL FIND A PLAN TO PUT THIS BASTARD IN HIS PLACE! MY INJURIES ARE ONLY A MI-"
Silva flicked him in the nose,. Yinsen moved his hand to cover his nose and shoots her an indignant glare. Silva shrugged "I needed you to stop so I could catch up."
Yinsen put his hands back down "What about you any ideas?"
At that, Silva smiled very wide, not even bothering to hide the semi-crazy look in her eyes. "Where would you like me to begin?" She asked with a hint of malice, something she's never allowed in her normally sweet and caring voice.
"I'm listening" he said intrigued
"My first idea was one you thought for Cardin." Silva said.
"You took me seriously?" Yinsen asked, surprised and more than a little concerned.. "Er... what did I say again?"
"Shatter his joints. One. By. One." Silva reminded her leader, punching the wall for emphasis, making a sizable crack without the aid of a copied semblance.
"O-Oh... that." Yinsen chuckled in unease
I'm starting to see why Silver cracked up when we mentioned her "innocence"'
No wonder you're smitten with her. Must've sensed that darkness earlier... masochist.
I AM NOT! Yinsen scowled.
Silva thought Yinsen wasn't satisfied after looking at his facial expressions, ignorant of his inner voice. "Oh? Not enough? Hm….. what should we do?"
Yinsen coughed into his hand and regained his composure. "Much as I want to hurt him physically, that would be asking for severe repercussions. Perhaps an attack on his pride." Silva leaned her head into Yinsen's shoulder as he sighed
"Though, I'm pretty sure my very existence is enough to anger him. Guess all I can do is just keep making it with my devil may care attitude"
Silva slowly moved her hand to Yinsen's...closer...closer...closer
The door suddenly opened. "Hey Silv it's my tur-" Grey said as he entered the infirmary.
Silva then turned into a rage " GET THE FUCK OUT I'M TRYING TO HAVE A FUCKING MOMENT GREY!" She yelled in fury, throwing a chunk of the wall she broke, making an equally sizable crack next to her electric teammate's head.
Shocked and Frightened at the normally timid cat faunus' outburst, Grey raised his arms and slowly retreated "Uh... okay... I-I-I'll come back later." Grey dashed out of the door with haste.
"Um...did... did you want to say something?" Yinsen said with sweat on his brow and his fingers trembling. 'Note to self... check family tree for genetic behavioral disorders.'
"Sorry. Lost my train of thought." She returned to her regular demeanor. Yinsen just shrugged it off not knowing what else to do, and hoping she'd avoid becoming angry at him.
Silva blinked sleepily and let out a yawn "I'm going to take a quick nap. Using new powers too much makes me really-." Silva let out a bit yawn as she fell asleep on Yinsen's shoulders.
"Hey!..." Yinsen said blushing a storm in protest but looked at Silva's calm and peaceful face snoring softly, letting little purrs out. "Silva!... Silva!... oh come on, no one falls asleep that fast!" Yinsen said
Silva wrapped her arms around Yinsen's, allowing him to feed her gentle heartbeat.
Yinsen sighed, resigning himself to his position as a bed and tried to stay very still not wanting to move his sleeping teammate, especially after her recent outbursts
You didn't complain when she got into the bed. His inner voice said smugly
'Shut Up!' He mentally roared.
Naomi was sitting outside on the bench, waiting as the wind blew through the trees
She turned to see her parents walk up to her "Uh…hey Splashy" Cu said.
Naomi shot an angry glare at her father
"Okay, I can tell you're mad." Cu said.
"Oh no, I'm happy you beat up the friends that have my back. It's not like they meant anything to me or anything." Naomi spoke sarcastically.
"Yeah I guess you are mad at me for that, look I'm sorry about what I did, but I did do it for a reason, to test their commitment to being a huntsman" Cu stride to explain to his daughter.
"You always go on about that! What makes you think they even needed it?" his daughter asked him.
"Because, Iskandar, Raku and Yinsen they each have something that is blocking their potential, I could tell in their eyes they each have pain, something that held them back their potential, Raku has been broken down, which made him easy to become a soldier for the Atlas military, a man who just follows orders. The life of a machine. And Yinsen? He just gave up on the title... he's only here because he deems it a formality and thinks he already has what it takes to save people... if he didn't need a license, he wouldn't be here and go out and die like an idiot." Cu said.
"You gotta be kidding me." Naomi said.
"It's a common thing with Hunters, people who suffer from tragedy often shut down all emotion as a coping mechanism at times, but that fragile state may make him operate in extremes" Scathach said.
"Well, I feel you're not giving any of them enough credit. Somehow Yinsen's team already fully trusts him, so he's doing something right. The youngest of them basically threatened you both for hurting him. And the other two would be right next to her." Naomi said. "Raku has just been given a team." `I can't let them know about Raku's daughter otherwise they'd flip' she thought. "Anyway what about Iskandar?
"Iskandar has something that is weighing down his soul, guilt, anger, depression, I don't know the exact details but I know when someone uses a smile as a mask" Cu said.
"What? But Iskandar has been a diligent leader so far." Naomi said.
"Yes, but where is he leading you? What is his goal?" Cu asked.
Naomi couldn't give her father an answer.
"Exactly my point, what is the point of a leader if he doesn't lead? He will just keep wandering aimlessly and drag you along with him" Cu said.
Naomi looked at her father "Is that really so bad?" Naomi said.
"Naomi you already have your goal, an admirable one, of helping others who can't help themselves" Scathach said. She paused in thought. "Still perhaps you can help Iskandar find his purpose. He needs to rely on you as much as you rely on him" Scathath said.
"Okay, mom." Naomi said.
"Yes anyway we better get going before Glynda launches us out…...you'll still visit us right?" Cu asked.
Naomi rolled her eyes "Yes Dad…..I may need some time though to make sure the big guy is okay"
"Okay Splashy, see you later" Cu said.
"We love you" Scathach said as they began to depart.
Naomi hesitated "...I love you guys too"
Iskandar was sitting outside Glynda's office waiting for her. He peeked up as he heard her heels clack as she approached. "Mr. Drakon, why are you not in the infirmary?" Glynda said.
"My body is still aching, but I needed someone to talk to. You're the only one I could go to with this matter. By the way, how's Mr. and Mrs. Siren?" Iskandar asked.
"They have been removed from the grounds and won't be allowed back for 6 months." Glynda said. She then noticed Iskandar's expression "I don't want you to take what Cu said to personally. You are still learning-"
"As a student and future huntsman, I know" Iskandar said. "I know. But I want to know, what is my reason for being here?" Iskandar asked.
Glynda looked to her student with a careful glance. "Elaborate."
"When Cu was fighting me...There was no doubt. Every blow had a sense of purpose. The reason I fought so hard when I was with the White Fang was because of my brother. I fought to protect him and to prevent him taking the same path I did. However now... he's gone...The only reason why I bothered to fight. For the past couple of months now, I have gained new friends. I may smile with them, but inside I just... I just don't really see any real reason to be here. Is it to be a weapon for Ozpin? Is it to be a huntsman? I…..I don't know what I am suppose to do" Iskandar said desperate
"We let you into our student body so you can find an answer." Glynda said firmly.
"Am I supposed to be an assassin for him? To kill anyone Ozpin finds as a problem?" Iskandar asked.
"Of course not! Ozpin would never-" Glynda shouted.
"Be honest, you were sceptical about me being at Beacon. You fear me, see me as a threat to the other students don't you?" Iskandar said.
Glynda stopped. Her hesitation told Iskandar her answer.
"You know my... my father was the greatest hero in Vacuo. Even after he died, all I wanted to do was to be like him. To honour my parents' memory. But... with all the time I spent in the White Fang, and all the people I killed, I honestly don't know if I can face them. If they don't hate me for the dozens I've killed, then they hate me for failing to protect my brother." Iskandar said. "And my teammates, my friends, I am afraid that once they learn of my past they too will see what I am, a monster" Iskandar quivered his lower lip.
"Surely you don't think that?" She asked.
"Well there is one girl I told, and she still looked at me as a person not as a monster or even a faunus. She saw me as someone equal to her. Even though they all have been so kind to me, I don't deserve them, I don't deserve to be loved,...Glynda….I hate myself and everything I was,... I'm glad you and Ozpin found me... And now, here I am. A fresh start, a clean slate, and now...Iskandar Drakon, The Demonic Knight is dead, but his sins still remain in this... this... this person... Who is this person I'm pretending to be Ms. Goodwitch?... Who is he?" Iskandar said, turning to face her.
Glynda's stern glare dropped into a melancholic one as she stared into her student's eyes.
"You are Iskandar Drakon. That is all I can tell you. If you truly want to know this person you've become, then live. Live on for everyone who ever had meaning to you. It's what they would want. I'm certain of that." Glynda said
"What about the people whose lives I've taken would they want me to live" Iskandar rebutted.
"The person who has taken those lives is dead. You have said it yourself. Now go back to the infirmary and heal... you have a whole new life ahead of you."
Iskandar walked out with a blank face, trying to keep his feelings masked. The mythical faunus looked down at his clawed hand. It looked like a darker shade of red than usual.
"No... I can't live on just yet... Not until "The Demonic Knight" is behind me for good. Then I can at least try to be happy.' Iskandar thought.
The next morning, after the drama the ensued yesterday Leonidas, Iskandar and Naomi awoke to see Francesca was missing.
"Frannie?" Leonidas said concerned.
"Where did she go?" Naomi said
The door slammed open with Francesca standing in the doorway with a cape on her shoulder and a tupperware container in her hands "Hey guys!" Francesca said with a big, bright smile.
Iskandar groaned as he got out of bed "Hey, what's with the cape?" he said pointing to the red cape with a gold version of her symbol spread proudly on the cloth.
"Oh, my parents sent this, aren't they sweet?" Francesca said.
"I thought you hated your parents? What happened to make you change your mind?" Leonidas asked curiously.
"My parents sent me this cape and a letter that said they were sorry. Now they've given me their blessing." Francesca said. "Naomi, sorry I snapped at you yesterday. It's just that your parents were so proud of you and-" she stammered.
"Frannie, it's okay, my parents can be a bit overbearing but they are good people. I'm glad you made up with your parents Francesca, there is nothing more important than family." Naomi said. Iskandar looked down when she said those words.
Francesca smiled at her "Anyway, I felt like brushing up on my cooking skills. Been making these bad boys since dawn." Francesca said.
"Wait, you cook?" Naomi asked.
"Yeah, I never said anything till now cause how it related to my parents. Anyway, I did something simple and made salted caramel brownies with some ingredients I found in the cafeteria." Francesca said as she opened the lid to reveal her hand made brownies.
"You made these? And Glynda let you use the kitchen?" Iskandar asked in surprise.
"Yes, and keep your mouth shut." Francesca said.
"Ah, say no more." Iskandar said, understanding the implications.
" It's certainly been a while, but I think I still have my touch." Francesca said as Leonidas grabbed a brownie
"I'm glad you're reconciling with your parents. Although I for one don't understand why you would bother baking such a thing. Wouldn't it have been more... beneficial to make something with the diet of a huntsman in mind? " Leonidas said.
"Just shut up, and take a bite." Francesca replied.
"Fine but I don't see the merit in these" Leonidas stops to take a bite "HOLY CRAP, THIS IS THE MOST DELICIOUS THING I'VE EATEN IN MY LIFE!" Leonidas exclaimed ecstatically breaking his stoic demeanor.
Naomi and Iskandar were surprised by their friend's reaction and grabbed a brownie each and took a bite
"OH, GODS DAMN, THIS IS GOOD!" Iskandar said.
"MMMMM! it's like an orgy in my mouth!" Naomi moaned.
"Yeah, I got to admit these are amazing why didn't you make these sooner" Leonidas said.
"We got to show the others, oh man Ruby will swear off cookies after she's eaten these!" Naomi said.
"Okay, let's go." Francesca said.
"You guys go ahead, I'll go have a shower and meet you shortly" Iskandar said.
"Okay, just don't take too long or they'll be all gone.~~~" Francesca said.
"You best hurry sensei these confections are draining my will power," Leonidas said with drool in his mouth. His teammates let their leader be, closing the door behind them
Iskandar stared at the closed door and picked up his scroll, accessing the photo album.
'Tell me, all of you, WHAT ARE YOU FIGHTING FOR?' His mind remembered Cu's words
'There is nothing more important than family' his mind drifted to Naomi's not to long ago as he swiped to a photo of him and his silver haired griffin faunus brother.
"I am so sorry I failed you Hephaestion. You were all that I had, and you were all the reason I needed." Iskandar said with tears in his eyes. He wipes them away swipes further into his photos to pictures of Adam and another one of Roman. The dragon faunus growled as he grit his teeth, his body began to emit smoke.
"I will find them and they will burn for the sins against my family." Iskandar said menacingly.
End
Oh my god finally this chapter is over, it took over a year but I finally finished it, I want to thank all my fans (Or any that I have left from my long hiatuses) anyway I thank you all. Anyway I'm really happy how the last part came together, one of my new years resolution is to make shorter fanfiction chapters so they can hopefully come out faster but you know I can't make any promises.
Anyway with this I hope that our heroes can learn from this defeat, whether to take Cu's advice to heart or just brush him off as a asshole
Till Next time
