Was that a human? In the water? She looked like she needed help. Summer couldn't just sit here and do nothing. But mama fastfin said humans are just trouble! But something about this girl seemed... different. She had to save her. Summer swam as fast as possible, right toward her. She seemed a bit frightened when Summer grabbed her. Summer pulled her up toward the surface and out of the ocean. She gasped for breath, coughing and spluttering. "Leyla!" Yelled a different voice. A boy, riding a dragon. A sorta handsome dragon... wait what was she thinking? "Dak!" The girl named Leyla shouted back. She flew over to the boy, Dak, and dropped Leyla on the dragons back. "Thank you for saving her." He said with a relieved smile on his face. "Hehe... no p-problem! Soooo, you just let humans ride on your back?" She asked. "I'm Leyla, and this is my brother Dak." Leyla spoke to her. "Hay." Dak said. "Um... hi. I'm Summer." She said kind of sheepishly. "Thank you so much for saving me, Summer." Leyla said. "You understand dragons?" She asked, shocked. Leyla nodded. Dak launched into a story about how they were ship recked as small children and raised by a mother dragon. Once he finished, he said "I'm sorry, but we really have to get going. We need to take this dragon egg back to its nest." Summer looked down and saw that the blue dragon was holding a greenish egg. "Oh, right of course! A slinkwing egg! Be careful around them, they are greedy dragons. They spit super sticky slime which can cause a dragon's wings to stick together, therefore disabling the ability to fly." Everyone was staring at her. "Wow sis, she sure knows a lot about dragons. Like someone else I know." Dak said. Leyla looked thoughtful for a minute. "Hay Summer... I know we just met but... do you maybe want to come with us? You can help us with rescues!" She said. Go with them? Rescue other dragons? A life of adventure? That sounds... awesome! "Uh, sure! I can do that, sounds fun!" Summer told them. "Great! Welcome to the team, Summer." Said the dragon. "By the way, my name's Winger."

"So that is the story of how me and Leyla met." Summer said, forgetting that the other humans couldn't speak dragon. "Uh Summer? They can't understand you remember?" Leyla said with a small laugh and a motion of her hands to the townspeople. Summer smiled sheepishly and curled her tail over her front talons. "Oh yeah, I sorta forgot." She replied back to Leyla.

"Ah, so that's what you and Dak were referring to back when we first met." Chief Duggard said, his eyes shining with recognition as he nodded to the twins and Summer, who all smiled brightly at him. "That's correct, Chief Duggard." Leyla replied to his earlier question.

"So... how exactly did Leyla fall off of Winger's back?" One of the villagers asked, staring at the Rescue Riders with a confused frown forming on her face. Winger opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it when he remembered that the other villagers couldn't understand him. "Actually... It was kinda my fault for telling Winger to fly as fast as he could." Dak explained to the crowd. Leyla sighed and gave a knowing look to her brother. "It was also my fault for not holding on like you had told me to do." She said.

"How did you all meet one another? Well... other then Aggro of course, how did the rest of you all meet each other?" Chief Duggard asked, and Dak and Leyla turned and glanced at one another before Dak nodded for Leyla to speak first. "It's just like we told you back when we first met, we were ship recked as little kids and we were found by Winger's mom, who took us in and raised us alongside her son, Winger." She explained, glancing over at the young swiftwing as she spoke. "And Leyla almost died from drinking bad water." Dak continued and the villagers all gasped in shock at Dak's words. "But, to be fare, we were like 4 or 5-years-old and that was the only source of water that we had." Leyla quickly explained to the horrified crowd of people and Aggro who looked a mix of downright horrified and relieved that Leyla had survived that whole experience.

"How did you know that it was bad water?" One of the children asked, staring up at both Dak and Leyla with wide and curious eyes. "Well you see... it was actually Cutter's mom, Moonclaw, who had figured it out. She told Winger's mom, Glow, that it was bad water not bad fish." Leyla explained. "Wait, how did my mom know about that kind of stuff?" Cutter asked her. "Because she's smart and she was around the human roosts a lot. She also learned human speech." Leyla explained to the crowd of watching villagers.
