Chapter 24 – The Underground Base
Black City – Hotel
In the early hours of the morning of a new day we left the hotel and searched the city for Maia or maybe discover on our own what the real reason for us being here was. We knew already that an underground base was located within this city, but the question is; where is the entrance? This city was huge, and with the final phase of Shiny Latias' plan about to come into play we didn't have all the time in the world to search this city until we found the entrance.
To our relief, the search had ended when Maia had approached us, appearing visible to us when we neared an alley she was waiting in with a large brown paper bag she carried. We walked back to the hotel so we could talk in private, making sure we weren't followed or being watched by the enemy or Bulldozer since he did run towards the city and we hadn't seen him since. We thought once we had entered the city yesterday we would encounter him and battle.
Inside our hotel room, Maia levitated beside the window with the paper bag set down beside her while we stayed on the other side of the room wanting to know what it was she had called us there for.
Everything Maia had said since Lisa and Brent couldn't understand what she was saying was all translated by Espeon and me at times. It kind of brought me back to when Isaac who could understand Pokemon translated for us whenever a Pokemon tried to talk to us, only this time we were the translators.
"Thank you for coming here to this city like I had asked. With Reversal Mountain being so close to Undella Town, the location of Team Annihilation Reborn's main base I thought you would have gone up there already to end this. But I am relieved to see you are here…"
"I almost did." I said remembering how my darkness within me tried to fight and wanted to head up that mountain and up to Shiny Latias' base to fight her and her soldiers. "But we wanted to know why you called us out here for."
"So what is it?" Espeon asked as she stepped forward towards her. "Why ask us to come all the way out here? If Shiny Latias is at Reversal Mountain why not call in our allies and attack?"
"Because if you do that, a Latias in the underground base of this city will be killed." she said sighing. "I saw on one of the documents from another base, instructions for the scientists here to end the life of the Latias down here should 'the enemy' which I am certain it is you Zack arrives so close to Team Annihilation Reborn's main base." She turned to the curtains and opened it to look out into the city. "I only know a Latias is within the underground base. I do not know if this Latias is my daughter, or another."
"Hey, didn't we see a document in that underground base saying it had recently moved a Latias to one here?" Brent reminded us.
"Yeah, but how did you know a Latias was in this underground base?" I asked.
"Appearing invisible has its advantages, especially in the underground bases I had managed to gain access, finding documents of almost all of the prisoners they have kept, controlled, and… tortured on. I found a document within a small Team Annihilation Reborn base east of Castelia City to discover that they have a Latias in their custody. Knowing Shiny Latias has Latias as her prisoner I set out to find her." She sighed. "You'd be surprised as to how many documents I have read in all of those years searching for my daughter."
"Okay, so how do we find this underground base in this city?" Lisa asked.
"The entrance is located through the train station, the entrance however is the only way inside the base that I know of. It is a base guarded by many soldiers, and I do not plan on fighting them yet, we need to get inside and locate this Latias first before then."
"Yeah, there is a problem with that," Espeon looked at me. "Team Annihilation Reborn soldier's are set to attack Zack upon seeing him, killing his allies if they see us. If the entrance is the only way inside and you do not want to fight them, how do we get inside without fighting? These soldier's are not up for conversations if you think we can talk our way through them."
Maia then turned and picked up the large brown paper bag she had and opened it up, pulling out two Team Annihilation Reborn helmets and gave one to Lisa and Brent along with the rest of the uniform. "You two will be wearing these. The weapons are at the bottom of the bag, but we'll get to that in a moment, but first we have to disguise you two." Maia said as she looked at me and Espeon. She reached into the bag and pulled out some kind of belt like device and attached one of them around my waist, pressed some buttons and a bright light engulfed me temporally, my appearance had changed from a white and black Dewott to that of a normal blue Dewott.
"Zackary, you're a Dewott… a normal one I mean!" Espeon gasped as I took in my new appearance. I looked at a mirror in the room and saw my new form, a normal Dewott without a black sclera or red iris' and no scars. I removed my cloak, bag, and eye patch opening my left eye, all I saw in the reflection was a Dewott looking back with both eyes. I closed my left eye and opened it and the reflection did the same, since I had a glass eye fitted in after my old one was cut up badly.
"A common Dewott won't attract any attention from the guards, but your normal form would've. These devices I found in another base north from here is a prototype they were planning on making. I do not know why since all I found on them at the time was the blueprints for the device and what it does and how long it can last when activated; four hour battery life giving us plenty of time to get in without problems. The suits and weapons from the same base so your human friends can assist on the infiltration mission."
Maia attached the last device around Espeon and activated it, the same light engulfed her as her form changed to that of a Sylveon. She walked to the mirror and smiled at what she was seeing, admiring her new looks. "Hmm… very nice. A Sylveon would've been my preferred choice on what I would've liked to evolve into if I knew about other forms, only finding out about it years later… I look stunning!"
Espeon looked up at Brent in his uniform and giggled. "Aren't you a little short to be a Team Annihilation Reborn soldier?"
"This uniform makes me look short… but man do they make these helmets feel as though you are trying to breathe through a straw… whew!"
After Lisa and Brent had changed into their one off uniforms, Maia smiled and gestured us with her paw for us to sit down so we could discuss the plan on infiltrating the base. "Lisa and Brent have I.D. tags on the back of their wrists; with them it will allow us entry inside the base." Lisa and Brent both looked at their wrists to see the I.D. tags. "The soldier's do not speak, but the scientists working in the bases do. Any of them ask you anything, you should respond with a nod for 'yes sir' or a shake for 'no sir' depending on what has been said. Keep close to each other and try not to make any errors or wander off or stop. Lisa and Brent should remain in front of Zack and Espeon, that is how things go with them. I will guide you while we enter the base so don't worry about a thing."
"How do you know about this?" Espeon asked as she tried to flick one of her ribbons with her paw but phased right through the holographic projection.
"I spent a lot of time infiltrating and studying bases, how soldiers get in and out, how they interact with other soldiers, and how they move. So stay still when standing, try not to sway too much as it will direct the attention of other soldiers or security drones." She said while pointing at the weapons. "You have seen how soldiers carry their weapons a lot of times, so mimic that and you'll do just fine."
"Easier said than done… these weapons are pretty heavy." Lisa sighed.
"We ain't using 'em, just carrying 'em until we get to this base and find this Latias they have locked up. Just imagine you are carrying your Pokemon, one weighing the same as your weapon or the equivalent. You gotta carry 'em until we reach the destination and they'll be… alright, recovered? The thought of carrying your best bud until we get there instead of carrying something we don't want to carry may help. But whatever helps get you through it may work."
Lisa readjusted her rifle. "Hmm… my Blitzle weighs a little more than this… not even Umbreon and Pidgey combined weigh this much, but I suppose it'll have to do."
"Never used weapons like this before?" asked Espeon as she approached Lisa, she shook her head. "I thought Savior's received training to handle these kinds of weapons."
"It's optional for Savior members; they can either fight with Pokemon or weapons when it comes to facing dangerous people. But I usually call in a team to take care of the threat without risking the lives of my Pokemon."
Maia flew towards the door and appeared invisible to us and asked. "Ready to go? Once we leave this hotel we have to play the part of being members of Team Annihilation Reborn at all times, no idle chatter or turning back. All soldiers are being watched out on the streets, one mistake will be the end of our infiltration attempt."
I stood up first and turned to the others. "I'm ready, let's go save this Latias and shut down the underground base." The others stood up and agreed. Brent and Lisa walked ahead of us while Espeon and I followed behind them closely in silence.
Walking out of the room and into the corridor of the hotel did attract the attention of some of the staff and guests staying at the hotel. Some backed off against the wall in fear of being a target and taken to their base, a place they had heard about, rumors of never walking out of that place again. Saying they would torture them before killing them, so most civilians although despising the soldiers had to put up with them and not antagonize them in anyway.
Walking out of the corridor and descending down the flight of stairs, we heard Brent grunt after almost falling down the stairs.
"I can't see a thing in this helmet!" Brent grunted annoyingly as he tried to readjust his visor as he walked down the stairs trailing slowly behind us with one hand holding the railing. Maia levitated close to us and whispered.
"Remember, do not speak to each other or to anyone else, soldiers included. Just show another solider your I.D. badge and they'll let you pass." Maia flew closer to me and Espeon. "Zack and Espeon, you two must stay close to Lisa and Brent, pretend they are your trainers. I will stay close to all of you if the soldiers discover your identities. The base we are about to enter is a well guarded one with soldiers of many types, weapons and gadgets capable of annihilating an entire army. What we need to do is enter the base undetected, find the Latias and take down the enemy before they figure out we were ever there. I would like to avoid heavy fighting."
"I suppose I will for now…" Espeon sighed, sounding disappointed she wouldn't be fighting the soldier's or the drones she despised so much yet. This would be the first time I would be infiltrating a Team Annihilation Reborn base like this or a base as big as it was. But nothing could prepare me for what I was about to find inside the underground base.
Team Annihilation Reborn Black City Underground Base
The entrance to the underground base wasn't too difficult to find or that it took too long unless you knew exactly where to go, thankfully we had Maia helping us find the way to the entrance. The subway once down there we had to go to platform and walk down it to reach a room at the end restricted to the public. Inside made all of us pause in shock for what we saw, in the long narrow room we saw many soldiers all armed as if ready for battle at any minute, all creepily standing there still like statues along the wall. Some soldier's turned their heads at us briefly before returning their heads back to their original position. We followed Maia through the room, refusing to look at the soldiers in fear of getting caught and having all of the soldiers in the room turn on us and trying to capture us or kill us, possibly kill us all since I was still disguised as a normal Dewott and not appearing as their target they are supposed to keep alive.
The base underground was huge, almost maze like and silent in almost every room and corridor we entered. A few soldier's we did see wearing the same red triangle symbol on the chest were the very few soldiers who did speak, give commands to others, this helped make our navigation through this underground base a little easier to ask other soldiers and scientists working there where we might find the cellblocks. Soldiers who didn't speak pointed or looked in the direction of one area, but that that didn't really help since we didn't know where to go from there. Asking a scientist or a soldier that could talk back looked at us in confusion as to why we would ask that. The three times that had happened not wanting to be caught, Maia distracted them with her moves to destroy an electronic device.
We had been down there for a while, going down the corridors we turned at, guessing where it was we needed to go down to find the cellblocks where the Latias was locked up in. we probably would've been walking in that underground base if it wasn't for one soldier who had stopped us and ordered us to follow him leading us to a bigger room full of many soldiers all stood in front of the a huge monitor. The doors had all closed and we were forced to listen in to the speech.
The screen lit up and a man appeared on screen we had never seen before, and he spoke.
"Greetings soldiers of Team Annihilation Reborn, General Petrov speaking to you so pay attention, I will not repeat myself to you. Eyes front and stay silent and listen well." The man on the large monitor we had only heard of by name we had now seen his face, in his mid forties probably slightly tanned skin, gelled back black hair, a thin moustache that curled at the ends, and a thick goatee, wearing some sort of military uniform unlike what the other members of The Five wore or any other member of Team Annihilation Reborn wears. He stared right at the camera with a cold look and began his speech.
"Shiny Latias has told me to pass this message onto you soldiers of Team Annihilation Reborn; the final phase is about to begin very soon, less than a week is all I know, and with the forces I have under my control I know we will be ready to take this region for our own. Shiny Latias' plan will soon reach its final stage; the all out assault on Zack Raines and capture him so that Shiny Latias can control him to defeat our enemies and those who stand in our way for Team Annihilation Reborn to control all." The soldier's in that room only listened to their next instructions while the five of us stood there listening in to his speech, trying to make sense of this plan of hers and how it will go. "I am broadcasting this message to all bases within this region. You must now prepare for the final phase. All soldiers must come at once to the main base and the hunt for the Dewott begins." Beside Petrov another clip of a base we were sure it was Team Annihilation Reborn's main base showing hundreds if not thousands of controlled soldiers, Pokemon, drones flying overhead, tanks, and mechas, Shiny Latias' army was getting ready. "Zack Raines' allies must be killed upon sight, do not capture any alive, Shiny Latias has no use for them. Understood?"
Every soldier at once including every Pokemon within this room all said at the same time in unison. "Yes sir!" before Petrov on screen smiled and the screen went black.
The room slowly cleared out as each soldier walked in front of the other through one of the four doors, Lisa, Brent, Espeon, Maia and I followed at the back, and once we were out of that room and into the corridor checking to look back first making sure no one saw us, we walked away from the marching soldiers and into a small room.
"Obviously you guys heard it too, right?" Asked Lisa as she set her rifle down on a desk beside a small locker the only two pieces of furniture in this small room. "The final phase of the plan is about to start."
"Yeah, and Shiny Latias is about to start an all out assault on Zack…" Brent shook his head. "Man, what the heck is goin' on?! Do we even have enough on our team to stop a force this much?"
"Well uh… we have Lisa and her Pokemon, you Bent and your Pokemon along wish Zackary and his Pokemon…" Espeon thought as she counted how many would assist us with the battle with Team Annihilation Reborn. "Devon and his team will help so that's a good two-hundred helping us… against up to a thousand plus one Latias trying to kill us…"
"We have to try." I said, refusing to give up on saving Latias despite the large numbers against us. "I didn't come this far to throw in the towel. The numbers may be large, but there is still a chance that we can do this, that we can save Latias and end this conflict once and for all!"
"I'm with you on that, buddy. But the number of the enemy…" Brent sighed. "The number is big, but I ain't gonna abandon you guys and run. Latias is my friend too, and I want to help her return home. I just hope we all come out of this alive."
"For a minute there, I thought you were going to call it quits." Espeon said relieved that Brent wasn't giving up, that he would stay and fight to save Latias. "Not that any one of us were going to yell at you or beat you up for not wanting to fight. This is a big thing we're doing, we don't want to force anyone or guilt-trip anyone into helping us."
"Almost did give up." he nodded his head. "But it wouldn't feel right knowin' you guys were out there fighting and risking your lives to save Latias. Runnin' away isn't who I am."
"That's good." She smiled, then turned to Maia and asked. "So speaking of Latias, where is it we need to go to find this Latias that is imprisoned-"
But before Espeon could finish, the door to the room suddenly opened and entered a young man wearing a lab coat, one of the scientists working within the base. He noticed us, a glare on his face as he asked- no, demanded why we were in here. But without answering him, Maia reached out with her paws and grabbed him by his coat collar and pulled him further into the room before being grabbed by Brent, pinning him against the wall.
"W-what is this?" He squealed, trying to break free from his grip. "Have the controlled betrayed us? Is this the execution of order 99?"
"Hey!" Espeon snapped. "Only I can make movie references! And it's order 66!"
"Movie references? What are you talking about? And why is that Pokemon talking? What is this?"
"Hey buddy, shut up!" Grunted Brent as he crushed the scientist closer to the wall. "We ain't controlled soldiers, civilians taken off the streets by your boss to add to her collection of soldiers for her army, we are free thinking folk who can say and do as we please. So here we are in these stinkin' uniforms to infiltrate this base for two reasons; finding the cellblocks and getting outta here before the smell of the uniform stays on us."
"Better answer him," Lisa walked towards them. "My friend here can get really angry incredibly fast, so unless you don't want to be beaten to a pulp, I suggest you start telling what we want to know. But answering incorrectly may end badly for you."
"T-there's an elevator beside the control room…" The scientist gulped. "That is the only elevator down to reach the cellblocks. Only way or out in the cellblocks is through the elevator. Humans on the first floor down, Pokemon on the bottom. I swear, what I am telling you is the truth, I swear!"
"Are you sure you are telling the truth? Don't lie to us!" Espeon growled at him.
"It's true, all true!" The scientist was then knocked out cold by Brent, placing him inside the locker.
"Let's hope no one comes back in this room to check the locker." Espeon said before she shut the locker with her Psychic. "Elevator is located by the control room. Bottom floor, ready?" We nodded and made our way out of the room slowly yet cautiously not wanting to run into any more scientist or soldiers outside. With the coast clear we walked through the corridor in the direction of the control room, thanks for the signs hanging above for directing us otherwise we would've been lost.
Team Annihilation Reborn Black City Underground Base – Cell Block
Inside the cramped elevator we were heading down into the cell block where they had kept all of their Pokemon prisoners separate from humans. Besides that, all we knew about this area was that the elevator was the only way in or out of that cell block, so we had to try to be extra careful with our attempt to get inside and to search the area for the Latias without attracting the attention of everyone within the base.
"So the elevator is the only way in and out…" Brent repeated what the scientist had told us before. "If we do find a Latias in here and it turns out to be our Latias, the one we know, how do you guys think we should get her out of here? We can't just carry her out and the soldiers guarding the entire base will be like 'yeah that's alright, have a nice day now.' And let us go because that ain't gonna work. They'll be on us like that and it'll be us who'll need rescuing."
"I thought about that as well." Maia said. "Do any of you have a spare Pokeball?"
Lisa and Brent shook their heads. "But wait a minute; Pokeball's do not work on Pokemon already owned by another trainer."
"Her Pokeball is back in my hometown," I thought back to when I last released Latias when we were still living in Nuvema Town, leaving her Pokeball at my house if it was still standing. "Since it's impossible to get it now, so I suggest we call in Devon's team to help out. It'll be pretty chaotic given to how many soldiers and robotics that is down here… it'll be too risky for her to be carried out with the soldiers out there."
"I'll contact Devon's team once we find out if Latias is in there or not." Lisa said as she had her hand slightly hovering over her Savior device. "If we are caught we may end up being trapped in here until help comes or the worst should happen."
"I'm sure it won't come to that. We'll be fine; we just gotta keep fightin' no matter what." Brent sighed, noticing the elevator was about to come to a stop. "Okay guys, I'll do the talking."
"Prisoner transfer for me?" Espeon asked as she stepped forward.
Brent nodded worryingly. "Prisoner transfer. Let's just hope they don't raise an eyebrow at that and this is the norm for them… here we go."
"Do not worry Brent, we are with you." Maia calmed the tense Brent before the elevator doors opened up, stepping out first towards the three soldiers and the officer standing beside the reception desk.
The area was 'T' shaped, cells from '1-17' on the right, 18-34 to the left, and a long narrow corridor leading to many cells on both sides up front. Brent and Lisa gestured for Espeon to step in between us while I remained behind. The officer stepped closer to Brent and asked. "What's going on?"
"Prisoner transfer from cellblock 1138." Brent said as calmly as he could.
"I wasn't notified." The officer looked at him confused before turning to the comms behind the desk. "I'll have to clear it."
Espeon charged at the officer with a Zen Headbutt knocking him away from the console and into a filing cabinet. Brent and Lisa opened fired on the soldiers using the tranquilizers to defeat them not wanting to kill the controlled. Maia joined in on the fight and took out the remaining enemy, taking out the last soldier with a Dragon Claw.
"Alright, listen up; Zack and Maia, you check the cells for the Latias while Espeon, Lisa and I hold the fort." Espeon looked up and noticed the comms were flashing signalling that someone wanted to speak. Any longer without anyone reporting in might attract unwanted attention alerting the entire base to our presence.
Espeon approached the comms, hoping to try and convince whoever it was that everything was alright down there. "Everything is under control, situation normal."
"What happened?" Asked the man over the comms. Espeon gulped and answered.
"Uh, a weapon malfunction, everything is perfectly alright now, we're fine here, thank you…. How are you?" She cringed, not sounding happy about her response.
"We're sending a squad up."
"Uh negative we have uh, a reactor leak here, give us a few minutes to lock it down."
"Who is this?" Espeon gritted her teeth and used her Psychic to crush the comms destroying it.
"Boring conversation anyway. Guys, we're gonna get company over here!" She yelled to us as we searched the cell block. "All because of my movie references… ugh!"
Maia and I both hurried down the corridor in search of the Latias imprisoned here, each cell filled with Pokemon of various types. Some from Kanto, others from Unova, and the rare few from Sinnoh, but none we found that where from Hoenn. The imprisoned Pokemon were lying unconscious on a table beside operating equipment, clipboards beside each Pokemon instructions of what the scientists needed to do to each one before they were controlled by Shiny Latias; move alterations, blood samples, and health checks.
After I had finished checking the room of one Pokemon, Maia had used her moves to push out a scientist who was already inside one of the rooms opposite the one I was in. It was a woman wearing a lab coat like the other scientists. I saw on her name tag was 'Alison Ford' before she was dragged to the entrance by Maia away from the other Pokemon.
Some soldier's had left the elevator and attacked. Lisa and Brent alongside Espeon fought them providing me and Maia some time to search the cells for the Latias.
As soon as the soldiers had been dealt with, the elevator door had shut and returned up to send more soldiers back down. Maia quickly flew towards me and dragged me to the room she was in. "Zack, I think I have found her… or someone else." She said before levitating inside the cell, following after in the room.
Inside one of the cells lying on a table unconscious was a Latias alive and breathing, but it wasn't the Latias I knew, it was another because of how small it was, it was a young one. The Latias' had recent wounds left untreated on its paws and the chin. I felt somewhat disappointed that it wasn't my Latias locked up in there, a small bit of hope had built inside me at the thought it was her when I was told a Latias was in that underground base. I checked on the Latias to see if she was alright, that was when Maia entered the room, a clipboard in her paw.
"Zack I… I think you should read this." She handed me the clipboard, the document had the words 'Confidential' at the top. I flicked the first page and began to read;
"These are the private notes of Alison Ford, a scientist of Team Annihilation Reborn working within the Black City Underground Base. For two years I have been working here studying those who have been controlled by Shiny Latias, how long her ability lasts on one human and or Pokemon, the negatives, the positives. Shiny Latias desires to control the target for a long time without breaking the connection, without the target suffering from lack of sleep, food, or other needs to keep him active for our plan to succeed."
"Shiny Latias has given me the ownership of a Latias, a young one to study and to prepare her for the time for her to become a controlled puppet to fight in her army, or to be used to be killed in a mission, a petty little thing to be used as a distraction while the main force arrives."
"The Latias I have taken care of goes by the name of Midnight Shiny Latias told me, a name given to her by the mother locked away in another base, our main base never to see the child ever again. She has confirmed that this Latias is the daughter of the target, Zack Raines, and will be used in the final phase to be killed in front of him and the mother Latias and quite possibly the trigger Zack into a berserk like state, and that's when Shiny Latias will control him with her ability, hopefully succeeding in our plan."
"My daughter?" I gasped, looking at the young Latias lying on the table still. I was speechless after that, my mind empty for a while until my mind thought back to when Latias wasn't feeling well very close to the final battle with Team Doom… "She was pregnant then? I thought... with no news of anything these past years, i thought i thougth something bad happened..." I thought as I glanced back down at the clipboard, where it said this Latias was my daughter, reading it over and over again a few times, thinking maybe I had read it wrong, but I didn't. Espeon told me about her being pregnant, with no news i thought the child had died, nothing was known or mentioned in any report i had found in other bases i had been talked about Latias having a son or daughter, nothing.
"If the target locates our main base, the final phase of our plan involving Midnight will have failed; the Latias will have to be terminated. There is no telling what the target will do if he ever does find our main base, it could very well be our end, so we might as well end the life of Zack's child as insurance and as punishment for attacking us, that I will happily do myself if he does find our main base. Until then, I will happily take care of it and do some experiments on it."
There were two pages left, but I didn't read them. Without a word, I placed the clipboard on the table and walked out of the room towards the scientist we had captured. As soon as the scientist was in my sight, I used Psychic and lifted her up off the ground and pulled her close to me, crushing her body slowly and demanded answers.
"Is that Latias in there… is she really my daughter!?" I growled, angry and confused at what I had just discovered. The woman I held in my Psychic only stared at me with fear in her eyes. I never gave her a chance to reply, the words I had read that she would happily kill Midnight herself echoing in my mind only fuelled my anger and decided to kill her, or perhaps it was the sight of the Latias' injuries caused by this woman.
"Zackary!" I heard Espeon call out to me, but I didn't turn to look. I was focused on ending this woman's life and glared at the woman, feeling the voices slowly return, and my eye a bright red. But all of that suddenly stopped when I felt myself being dragged back. Looking up, I saw Brent carry me back away from the woman as she was released from my Psychic grasp.
"Easy man, it ain't worth it!" Brent dragged me back. "It ain't worth it, man. Trust me, it ain't worth it."
"But I-!" I growled, trying to break free from Brent, but gave up after a little.
Maia came in and attacked the scientist knocking her out. She had a fire in her eyes when she attacked the woman. "We need to take care of the soldiers in the base or else we are doomed. I will stay here with the Latias."
"Is it our Latias in there?" Espeon asked as she stepped forward towards Maia.
Maia shook her head and turned her head towards me and said. "It's Zack's daughter. That scientist… from the looks of it she hurt her" Before levitating away to the cell where Midnight was in.
Neither of us spoke that much since we had other matters to attend to, such as taking care of the soldiers on their way to fight us after learning of intruders. The elevator was the only way in or out of the cell block we were in, fighting in small waves soldiers exiting the elevators and firing their weapons at us only for them to be defeated by us with our Pokemon. Lisa had called in for Devon's team to assist us by directing them to the underground base, where the entrance was, and what kind of dangers they would be in upon approach.
It was a battle that lasted an hour or two of fighting soldiers of many types and drones doing their best to land a good amount of damage to us. At the battles end did Devon's team finally find us trapped in the cell blocks and helped us out of there and back up on the surface. Devon's team suffered major casualties from Team Annihilation Reborn, more than half remained to help take the controlled soldiers away, and taking the prisoners within the base to safety while the rest secured the area to make sure the base wouldn't be used again. But for us, we were taken to the outskirts of the city since the attack would surely spark the attention from Team Annihilation Reborn to call in for more reinforcements to try and retake the base, or to search the city for me and my friends and Midnight.
To be continued…
Trivia:
Maia was originally teamed up with Zack and friends earlier in the story as a permanent member of the team all the way towards the final battle with Team Annihilation Reborn.
