Chapter 2: I Know What I Saw!
Quillo just stared, eyes wide as can be. What kind of animal would it be? It's floating, it doesn't have any legs it would seem. Was this Foster pulling the ultimate scare? No, because this creature was huge! What's worse: It's big orange glowing eyes kept staring him down.
Quillo: (Quietly) Maybe…If I just back up slowly…He won't hurt me…
Quillo took ONE step back, and that's all it took, for the creature raised it's right hand, revealing a huge, ghastly looking scythe.
Quillo: GAHHHHHHH!
Quillo ran as fast as he could, with the baseball in paw. He ran until he reached the area SpookFest was being held at. He looked around, and then back at the forest. He could no longer see whatever ghastly creature he just saw…Maybe he just hallucinated it? Maybe his paranoia got the best of him? Whatever happened, he decided it was best to keep it on the down low for now.
Erick: There ya are! Took ya a while, huh? Yeah, we all got million dollar arms for that, ya know?
Quillo: Absolutely. Yeah…
Erick: Well, we're getting bored of ball. You wanna go to the corn maze?
Quillo: In a little bit. I'm gonna go talk to Rachel.
Erick: Alright, no probs. We'll meet you there, yeah?
Quillo: You know it bud!
Erick smiled and nodded, and left Quillo. Quillo decided to go find Rachel, but the minute he turned around, he saw a huge Tarantula land on his face.
Quillo: GAHHHHH! SPIDER! SPIDER! GET IT OFF!
Quillo then took the spider off, and noticed how rubbery it was. It was at that moment he heard Foster snickering.
Foster: Dude, you are too easy! Wuss!
Foster and his posse then left to go get some homemade punch. Quillo then seemed visibly upset, which attracted the attention of the girls' mother, Annette. She followed Quillo to the outskirts of the party.
Annette: Hey, hon. What's wrong?
Quillo: This is exactly why I didn't wanna come to this! Foster's a jerk who just likes to scare me for fun! And everyone laughs at me in the process!
Annette: Oh, sweetheart…
Annette gave a very motherly hug to Quillo, which made him smile a bit.
Annette: You know they only laugh because you give them ammo to laugh with.
Quillo: I try to brave through whatever stupid scares Foster throws at me, but he's too good! He knows when to strike.
Annette: Do you want me to talk to him?
Quillo: No, Ms. Annette. That won't be necessary. We're 19, not 10…I just wish he would see through my perspective, ya know?
Annette: I understand completely, sweetie…You know you can talk to me whenever you feel the need to. Just remember that.
Annette winks at Quillo and walks back to the party area. Quillo then rejoined the party, and saw Rachel, alone in the corner. He decided to see what was wrong with her.
Quillo: Hey, what's up?
Rachel: Oh, everyone was making fun of you. I needed to be alone.
Quillo: The first part doesn't surprise me.
Quillo sits next to Rachel.
Quillo: Rach, can I be honest with you?
Rachel: Of course you can.
Quillo: I saw something while I was getting our ball back.
Rachel: Hmm?
Quillo: It was…something huge, and it had a pumpkin for a head, with glowing orange eyes!
Rachel: That sounds scary…
Quillo: It was floating too. I tried to tell myself I just imagined it, but I don't know…Maybe it was real?
Rachel: If you know what's good for you, you keep that story to yourself. Especially around Foster.
Quillo: Yeah I know…Maybe I should tell my brothers and your sisters, though.
Rachel: Eh…Spike was on the verge of making fun of you too…Maybe we should just keep it to ourselves for now. After all, you don't even know if it were real.
Erick: GUYS! Cris is gone!
Quillo looks at Rachel, and then goes to where Erick had yelled. It was the outfield they were playing ball in earlier.
Rachel: What happened?
Dexter: We were all here, w-we dared Cris to go into the deep forest, we didn't think he would accept it. That was 15 minutes ago! He hasn't come back.
Quillo nodded, and headed towards the forest.
Foster: Oh, what. THIS GUY is gonna go save him? Come on, Quillo. Maybe sit this one out.
Rachel: Give him a chance, Foster! He's only a scaredy cat because you make him that!
Quillo smiled at Rachel defending him, and then looked back to the forest. He then ventured into the deeper parts of the forest. He looked around.
Quillo: Cris? Buddy. Are you here? Your' friends are worried…
Quillo stepped on a branch, and let out a short scream, but stopped himself when he realized what it was.
Quillo: Come on, Quillo! It's just a branch…
Quillo kept venturing into the deep forest. And then, he saw it.
The pumpkin creature, looking at him with it's bright orange glowing eyes. Quillo looked to his left and saw Cris caged in a vine cage.
Quillo: Uh oh…
The pumpkin creature then shot a vine directly at Quillo, which Quillo avoided with ease. And then Quillo did the only thing he knew possible:
He ran for the hills.
Instead of fighting for Cris, he ran. He ran as far as he could, screaming all the way. He arrives back at the area, and everyone sees his panicked expression…and also sees that Cris was not with his.
Quillo: I knew it was real!
Emily: What happened?
Spike: Where's Cris?
Quillo: I saw this Pumpkin creature, BIG neon orange glowing eyes. It had Cris in a Vine Cage! I got scared for my life!
Foster's Friend: Foster, is that one of your pranks.
Foster: No, but knowing Quillo, it's probably a prank than anything…
Quillo: Ok, wise guy! If it's all a prank, where's Cris? I would've still brought Cris back with me if it was a prank! I know what I saw! I couldn't do anything for him!
Bucky: Quillo, just stop!
Quillo is surprised by Bucky's snappy attitude suddenly. Bucky then goes towards the deep forest, and turns around to face the crowd.
Bucky: Just to prove that you didn't see a pumpkin creature, I'm gonna go into the forest, and find Cris. And as soon as I do, me, you and Spike are leaving! It was a mistake to bring you, because we knew this would happen, right Spike?
Spike: Bucky, what's gotten into you? You're being really hateful.
Bucky: Spike, our brother is 19, like us, but gets scared over the smallest things! He needs to man up and-
Suddenly, a vine snaps out of the forest, and grabs Bucky by the leg. It then pulls Bucky into the deep forest, his scream cutting off as soon as he is pulled in. Everyone looks surprised.
Spike: Bucky?
No answer.
Quillo: Uh oh…
Possum in the Crowd: He's right! There is a pumpkin creature!
The crowd (minus the girls, Spike and Erick) proceed to freak out, running in circles. Spike and the girls go up to Quillo.
Spike: What happened to our brother?
Quillo: I have no idea!
Emma: Well, we need to find him.
Emma goes towards the forest, but Spike stops her.
Spike: Are you crazy?! Whatever just took Bucky could easily take us too!
Quillo: …What if this is just a prank? A really, really elaborate prank by Bucky.
Emily: He would've told somebody.
Quillo: I don't know…
Spike: Let's just go back home and see if he's there. Maybe Quillo's right. Maybe Bucky's waiting for us back home to scare Quillo.
So the group runs back to the boys' home, but before they arrive, Quillo sees Ed's home.
Quillo: OH DANG IT! I forgot we promised our new neighbors we'd have dinner with them!
Spike: Are you serious?! Quillo, our brother is missing!
Emily: Yeah, don't you think that's a little more important?
Quillo: Maybe Ed and Niki have seen him!
Spike: No no. I'm going to see if he's back home.
Emily: I'm going with Spike.
Emma: I'll go with you Quillo. I'm starving.
Rachel: Can't solve this mystery on an empty stomach.
Spike: Ok, Emily and I will look around the home. You guys see if our neighbors have seen them.
And so, Quillo, Rachel and Emma all went to Ed's front door. But before Quillo could knock, all three teens jumped at the sound of shattering glass.
Followed by a vicious howl…
