Reese was greeted by her Russian blue cat Loki at her sleek wrought iron double door; he only came around when he was hungry so they both headed to the kitchen for dinner. She heated up a cup of chicken flavored ramen and looked over her mail that waited patiently to be opened on the white-quartz countertop. Bills, bills, coupons, and more bills. The microwave sounded and she grabbed the hot cup of noodles. She took a bite and grimaced at the salty flavor; Thai would have been better. Loki, however seemed to enjoy his meal and then headed to the couch and sprawled out on the arm rest.

Reese followed behind him, lighting the fireplace, and curling up on the couch under her favorite blanket with a glass of white wine. She scrolled through her emails; nothing yet. It had been four days since she last spoke with her client about placing a bid on this luxurious place in the hills. She had other offers, but this was the best by a longshot, and she wanted to get the best deal for her seller. She sighed placing her phone on the glass coffee table. She sipped her wine slowly listening to the crackling flames of the fireplace; the flickering light of the fire illuminated her uncomfortably large living room. In her peripherals, she could see the dandelion-colored manilla folder peaking out of her purse which was thrown casually on her beige Verona chaise.

She contemplated getting up out of her cozy nook in her couch to look over the property. It would definitely be one of the biggest commissions in her career thus far if she decided to take on this new client. Reese scanned over the photographs of the property once more. It was sellable, and she had the perfect buyer. She grabbed her phone and texted Naomi.

7:30 PM Reese: Hey girl. Hope you're enjoying dinner! You know who would be perfect for this property?

7:35 PM Naomi: Please don't say it.

7:37 PM Reese: What? Lol…Do you think you can contact him for me?

7:42 PM Naomi: Ugh fine. I'll text him in the morning. BTW Scott said this is the 4th time you've turned us down for dinner. He's offended.

7:43 PM Reese: Oh no! Tell him I still love him. It's just weird that my baby brother is dating my coworker!

7:47 PM Naomi: Oh, is that all I am to you now!? Lol

7:48 PM Reese: You know what I mean. Anyway, I'll let you get back to your night. I'll see you tomorrow.

7:48 PM Naomi: Ok.

Reese glanced over at Loki who was sleeping peacefully. She walked leisurely to her master-suite bathroom and turned on the rain shower. Steam filled the room instantly. She peeled off her clothes and glanced at her lithe physique in the mirror; those early morning spin classes were paying off. She stepped into the shower and closed her chocolate brown eyes allowing the water to rinse over her face and wash over her thick curly brown hair. It was the best part of her day. Complete solace.

The water soaked into her skin as she stood under the steamy rainfall droplets. Her mind slowly faded into dullness as the soapy suds washed the day away. After her shower, she slumped into bed rechecking her emails before her body grew heavy inviting a long-awaited slumber. Still nothing. After drifting in and out of consciousness for another hour, she surrendered to the comfort of her grey satin sheets.
