The ride back to the office was quiet; Reese's current relationship with her brother was strained so it was a sensitive subject and she didn't like talking about it. To make things worse Naomi was in the middle of it, always prying for information to try and fix things between them; it was hard for her and honestly not her fault. Reese was her best friend and she was in love with Scott. They sat in traffic in silence for the next seven minutes until they reached the office.
"Hey, I didn't mean to pry," Naomi said breaking the silence.
"What was that?" Reese replied while pulling into the office lot.
"About you and Scott. I just love you both obviously and I know something is going on I ju—"
"You don't have to apologize. Honestly, it's me," Reese sighed, "I need to talk to him and stop avoiding him."
"So, you were avoiding us," Naomi smiled nudging her.
"Kind of. Not you two together," she stammered, "Just him. I'll talk to him."
"That's good to hear."
The two exited the car, entered the office, and went to their respective offices. Reese glanced over the information for the Melrose listing and dialed the number that Victor had obtained from Mr. Grey. She waited patiently as the phone rang gently in her ear; she assumed that she would just leave a voicemail to set up an appointment. It was so late in the afternoon; lunch had carried on longer than expected.
"Hello?"
"Hello. Is this Mr. Grey?"
"It is," he said firmly, "to whom am I speaking with?"
"This is Reese Sutherlin from the Redwood Group. How are you?"
"A little frazzled. Someone broke into my home this morning," he joked.
"Again, I really do apologize for that," she stammered, "I wasn't expecting any—"
"I'm joking," he interrupted, "I know how these things work. You people hear there's a new property getting ready to come on the market and you're like a bitch in heat."
"Excuse me?"
"I understand that you're interested in listing my property. You saw it. What do you think it's valued at?" he asked abruptly.
"Mr. Grey, I'd really rather come and have a thorough look at the property and formally meet you in person so that I can give you my professional opinion...discuss marketing all of that," Reese replied.
"I'm a busy man."
"I understand and I'm fine with working with your schedule," she paused, "you just let me know what works best for you."
"Be here in twenty minutes." Click
Reese sat stunned in her chair. Mr. Grey had rudely hung up on her and she questioned if the million-dollar commission was really worth dealing with such a brash individual. After a quick debate with herself she grabbed her purse and headed out.
"Hey where are you going?"
"Melrose. Have you seen Victor?"
"Nope," Naomi said quickly.
"Okay, I'll just text him."
"Are you coming back?"
"Probably not," Reese said rummaging through her purse for her keys, "You know how bad traffic gets."
"That's true. Well let me know how it goes."
"I will," Reese said rushing out the door.
2:45 PM Reese: About to meet with Mr. Grey about Melrose listing
2:47 PM Victor: Good. Let me know how it goes.
2:47 PM Reese: ok.
