Summary: A Dinosaur on the Island of Sodor? It can't be!

Chapter 1

Terrifying Encounter

It was Summertime on the Island of Sodor. The sky was bright blue and the sun shined brightly. Flowers bloomed in beautiful colors, making the bees dance very happily around them.

Children with their parents flew kites, while others had picnics on fields. Visitors to the island enjoyed the seaside and the many attractions Sodor had to offer.

During summertime, there is always some new event happening. The Engines had indeed discovered that a new attraction was being prepared at Edward Park. It is a beautiful place, which visitors can follow a trail and enjoy a lovely long walk in the forest. They can see little waterfalls, find the oldest tree on Sodor and the rare butterflies that frequent the area.

Edward was telling the engines what he learned when they all rested in Tidmouth Shed. "Massive crates and boxes have been arriving at Brendam Docks. Some were small, others were bigger than Bulgy (Double-decker bus), and one that was even taller than Cranky! Harold had to take it".

They all gasped and wondered what was going on in the park. "Maybe they are making a theme park..." Tooted Thomas.

"But that would spoil the nice walk". Henry signed sadly. "My driver likes going there on weekends. He tells me how lovely the place is".

"I'm sure Sir Topham Hatt will assign us tasks for the park, then we can learn more about it!" Percy said excitedly.

"I'm sure he will choose a splendid-looking Engine like me". James smugly announced.

Gordon grumbled. He was getting annoyed at these interruptions. He was trying to sleep. "Oh, we'll find out eventually but right now it's time for sleep. Some of us have work in the morning!" He fixed the other Engines with a glare.

The engines just smiled and said goodnight to each other. They all dreamed happily. Thomas dreamed of Edward's Park. He thought off what they could be planning. A Circus? He dreamed of clowns, horses, and ballons. A theme park? He could see children happily playing on slides and the rides. He smiled a big smile in his sleep and hoped he will be chosen to take the crates to the Park.

...

When morning came Thomas happily puffed along his branch line with his faithful coaches. Annie and Clarabel. They were playing a game and Thomas chuckled, having fun. They were spotting how many kites they could see on the way to the next station.

"There's another one!" He cried. The Red Kite with white flowers flew high in the air and danced above the trees.

"Oh, you're very good at spotting them, Thomas. Isn't he Clarabel"

"Oh yes! Very good indeed" Annie laughed.

He was coming up to the next stop at Elsbridge. Gordon was there on the other side of the platform. The tank engine tooted when he came to a stop. "Good afternoon Gordon".

"Afternoon little Thomas. Can't stop to chat, the Express can't wait!" He sounded his whistle and the proud engine chuffed off.

Thomas chuckled then heard the Station Master whistle. "Ah, time to go". He happily puffed away. He liked this part of his branch line very much. He got to see the windmill near the River Callan. The countryside was beautiful and he enjoyed passing over the bridge to Hackenbeck Tunnel.

When he passed the tunnel. He sometimes got a chance to see his friend Terence working on the field but he wasn't around today.

He tooted a cheerful whistle at his friend Bertie the bus. He was driving over a small stone bridge. He was full of happy passengers.

Next came up Hackenbeck. He stopped and children were waving from the bridge above. They cheered and clapped for him. Thomas gave them a big smile and tooted his whistle at them.

Soon it was time to move on. He liked seeing the different animal farms as he went by. His favorite was still the pig farm but he liked seeing the sheep. They were enjoying the grass and resting peacefully.

He was arriving at his last station Ffarquhar. He was glad he had a branch line and enjoyed his work very much. He got surprised when he saw Sir Topham Hatt on the platform.

He was looking hot and kept rubbing a cloth on his face to get rid of the sweat. The weather was very hot today. "Good afternoon Sir". Thomas happily puffed.

"Hello, Thomas. I need your help"

Thomas's smile grew and he wondered if was going to be given a job for the new attraction.

Sir Topham Hatt cleaned his face again. "Percy sadly has gotten bad coal and ended up crashing. Those troublesome trucks took advantage of him when he was sick. While he is being repaired I need you to do his Mail Run tonight".

Thomas was worried for his dear friend. "Will he be ok sir?"

Sir Topham Hatt smiled warmly. "Do not worry Thomas. Percy will be fixed, he'll enjoy getting a fresh coat of paint and a good cleaning. He'll be back on the tracks before you know it".

That made the little tank engine feel better and he forgot to even ask about the new park attraction. His friend meant more to him. "Please sir after I finish my duties, may I visit Percy before the Mail Run tonight".

"Of course, Thomas. Have a good run. Oh this heat". He grumbled and went back inside the station.

Thomas smiled at him quickly chuffed away. He finished all his tasks quicker than expected and had plenty of time to cheer up his best friend. He chuffed into the Sodor Steamworks. Percy was being looked over by the workmen. His paint was scratched and dirty, his poor face was as green as his paint. His buffers bent and broken.

"Percy!" Thomas smiled as he puffed in. He felt sorry for his dear friend. He looked so sick but his friend smiled seeing him.

"Thomas...you came to see me" He coughed but still smiled "It looks worse than it is, they tell me". He coughed again.

"You're my best friend, of course, I'll visit you. I'm glad your going to be ok and don't worry. I'm doing the Mail Run tonight. I won't let you down".

Percy beamed brightly at him despite his green face. "Thank you so much. I'm glad to have an amazing friend like you"

Thomas grinned, he was glad to be there for his friend. " Ha, I'm only amazing cause I have friends like you". They both chuckled together happily.

Eventually, Thomas had to leave and return to Tidmouth Shed. He took a nap before his night work. His friends were all inside talking about how their day went when he woke up.

"I took visitors to the seaside, many admired my wonderful paintwork," James peeped.

"I collected cakes and buns from the bakery for the children's kite party" Edward beamed. "It was so lovely seeing so many wonderful and colorful kites. The children all looked so happy".

"I took ice cream to the seaside. I got so many cheers from the children". Henry smiled "Oh Edward I wanted to ask. Any more news on the new attraction?"

"Well, Emily told me she had to take more crates and cargo to the area. She saw they were putting up a big sign beside the entrance gate. All done up nice, with green, red, and orange ribbons but they hid what was written on the sign"

"Strange". Totted Thomas. "I wonder what they are being so secretive".

"Who cares," Gordon said. "It can't be as important as pulling the Express". He beamed with pride.

Thomas rolled his eyes. The big engine was obsessed with the Express but he couldn't blame Gordon. He had a tough job making sure it always arrived on time and never be delayed. The passengers relayed on the Express just for that.

"Well I think Percy's job is important. The Mail Run is very important to the people who live here". Edward stated.

Gordon huffed and looked off. Thomas giggled. "Oh I better get going then. Musta be late".

He happily picked up his mail trucks and made his way to Brendam Docks. The night was very dark but he felt very splendid. He knew his job was important. He had to make sure everyone got their mail in the morning. He didn't want to let his best friend down. His driver patted his side. "Ok, Thomas we're ready".

The little blue engine smiled, tooted his whistle, and quickly steamed away. Halfway through his task. The rain started, it was quickly pouring down. His driver and fireman couldn't even enjoy it cause the rain was warm.

It didn't take long for the rain to get very bad and he could hardly see in front of him. "Mustn't let Percy down, mustn't let Percy down". He muttered to himself.

Meanwhile, a special delivery had arrived at the docks. It was loaded onto a pick-up truck and hastily tied down with straps. It was covered with a white sheet. Cranky heard them say it was a statue for the new attraction.

The driver quickly got in the truck and drove off. He wanted to quickly get to his destination and head home. It was too hot and he was sweating a lot now and the rain annoyed him too. He could barely see the road.

For drove for some time in the dark. The road was bumpy making him practically jump up and down in his truck.

He headed up a hill fast. Then there was trouble. The driver hadn't secured the traps probably. With a snap, they came loose and the special delivery slid off the truck. It stayed upright it hit the ground and raced down the hill, because of the hard rain, the grass was slippery. It easily traveled down the hill, into the forest. The white sheet that had covered it got ripped off from the branches and it raced towards a set of tracks.

At that moment. Thomas was puffing on the tracks near the forest. The rain came down harder. He puffed slowly finding it hard to see.

"Not long now Thomas, well be finished soon". His driver said.

The little engine smiled and was glad he didn't let his friend down. Just then they heard a loud noise. Like something hard struck the ground. He was startled by it and stopped in his tracks. "What was that?"

Then they could hear the sound of branches breaking, trees rustling as if something was rushing to them. Thomas was a little scared. His driver got his light and shined it at the forest.

The noise got louder and louder. Thomas's wheels trembled when suddenly! Something horrendous rushed at them! Thomas saw a huge mouth filled with sharp teeth! Rushing towards his face! He screamed from fright and rolled back down the track. Even his driver and fireman were shaken and scared. Hearts racing, fingers shaking as they tried to stop Thomas.

"A monster! It's gonna get me! Help!" He screamed.

"Thomas slow down!" His driver yelled. But it was too late. Thomas came around the bend too fast. He lost his balance and crashed to the ground. Dirt and grass flew all around him. His mail tracks smashed to the ground. He rolled down a small hill, his driver and fireman were thrown from him.

Poor Thomas yelled for help but ended up bashing hard against a set of trees. His head hurt, his boiler and body ached. He was trembling. Everything hurt. He couldn't even see his driver or fireman, he cried the pain striking him hard.

He didn't want the monster to get him. "Help..." his voice trailed off as he fainted.
