Reese watched as the handsome, newly pregnant couple walked around the 4,000 square foot Hollywood hills home; she had decided to collaborate with Naomi to help her sell the listing. She couldn't understand why anyone wouldn't be interested. It was beautiful and offered amazing views. She smiled often as the couple caught glimpses of her in the open kitchen, hiding her silent yawns but Naomi could tell she was distracted.
"Well, I'll let you guys take a look at the rest of the house," Naomi smiled at the couple, "Just let us know If you have any questions."
The couple headed to the second floor to look around. Reese and Naomi could hear them whispering among themselves about how perfect the home would be for their growing family.
"What's wrong?" Naomi said looking at Reese as soon as the couple was out of sight.
"Nothing," Reese shook her head, "I just had a long night."
"Ugh, Josh again." She frowned.
"No," Reese paused, "I actually met up with Mr. Grey for dinner to discuss marketing."
"Oh," she looked surprised, "Was he being stubborn? I heard from Vincent he suggested a masquerade party," her brow raised, "I mean it sounds cool, but I know that's not what you wanted… right?"
"I would have liked to do something a little…. less, "she cracked a smile, "but it actually might not be a bad idea. He's actually thinking of also auctioning some items off during the party."
"Well, that's awfully nice of him. What kind of items is he auctioning?"
"I'm not sure. We didn't really talk about that," her voice lowered.
"Okay…well how about the furniture? Did you discuss him selling it with the home?" she said crossing her arms and leaning against the kitchen island.
"Briefly. He said he would need to speak to his lawyers though," she said firmly.
"Sounds like a short meeting," Naomi teased, "So why are you so tired?"
"Okay, don't overreact," Reese warned her.
"When have I ever overreacted?" Naomi said placing her hands on her hips.
"Is that a joke?" Reese laughed, "So Josh did text me last night."
"I knew it," her voice raised.
"Shh!" Reese looked over her shoulder to see if anyone heard.
"Sorry," she lowered her tone, "what did he want? Never mind I know what he wanted," she rolled her eyes.
"Well…he wanted to come over obviously," she paused, "but when I went to text him back, I accidently texted Mr. Grey."
"What!?" Naomi exclaimed, throwing her hands up frantically, "How did you accidently text him?...Wait, how does he have your number?"
"Shh, calm down," Reese said grabbing her arms, "I gave him my business card after the listing appointment. He contacted me to apologize for his attitude. We've exchanged few texts since then."
"Oh," Naomi was shocked. "So, what did you accidently text him?"
"Oh God…this is so embarrassing," Reese said releasing her arms and handing her phone over to Naomi.
Naomi stared blankly at Reese's phone, before finding the exchange between her and Christian. Reese stood frozen as she watched Naomi's expression. You could have cooked a four-course meal on Naomi's beet red face; she was embarrassed for Reese.
"Oh," Naomi swallowed hard, blinking quickly, "Wow."
"Wow is right," She snatched her phone.
"Were you expecting that?" her brow raised, "It doesn't sound like it just came out of nowhere."
"I mean," she sighed, "he did have some very suggestive language at dinner."
"Suggestive like?" Naomi's voice trailed.
"He basically said that I'm not being satisfied, and he could satisfy me."
"Well he isn't wrong," She smirked.
"Oh, shut up. I have Josh to—"
"Josh is a tool," Naomi interrupted, "He was never your type anyway, but I knew you were trying to rebound so I didn't say anything."
"Jeez Naomi, harsh much," she exhaled roughly, "it's not like Mr. Grey is any better. He's still legally married."
"Not as of," she paused, tapping Reese's cell phone that was still laying on the marble countertop, "two hours ago. He's a free man."
"So."
"Sooo, what's the excuse now?"
"You know it's not good to fall for a client… Case and point, Collin," she said softly.
"I'm not saying fall for him," she chuckled, "All I'm saying is that he's single now and you're…technically single," her voice trailed," If he's saying he can satisfy you, I'd let him have a try. What's the harm in that?"
"Uh lots," she said looking at Naomi as if she had lost her mind, "my career for one."
"You didn't lose it over Collin, so I'm sure you'll be fine," she smiled, placing her hand on her shoulder.
"Yea well—"
"We love the house," the couple interrupted, entering into the kitchen, "It's a little out of our price range, but we're definitely interested."
"I'm so happy to hear that," Naomi greeted the couple warmly, "Did you have any questions?"
"No, no, "the husband said gazing at his wife, "I think it's just a matter now of talking it over and making an offer, right honey?"
"Yes," she smiled, "Thanks so much for showing us the house, we'll be in touch soon Naomi."
"Bye. Take care," she replied as the couple headed towards the front door.
Good job, Naomi," Reese said embracing her, "You might actually sell this house in this lifetime."
"Cute," she said pulling away, "So, what are you going to do about Mr. Grey?"
"I'm going to sell his house," she said firmly, "and nothing more. Did Scott ever mention to you why they were getting the divorce?"
"You know I can't discuss the case," Naomi said, furrowing her brows, "can't risk anything being leaked. Scott would be pissed. He didn't say anything to you?"
"He did. Not much…something about unrealistic expectations," she said slumping her shoulders, "he's so vague."
"You like him?" Naomi questioned, catching her gaze, "Reese?"
"No," she murmured, "I—I jus—"
"You just what?"
"There's just something about him, but no I don't like him."
"Whatever you say," she smirked, "Come on, we should head back to the office."
