Hello! I know this one is a little late today, but I did want to try and get it out. Sorry about that! And for those of you reading A Brother's Promise, I will update, the chapter just does not want to be written right now. This one suffered the same struggles. Anyway, I do hope you enjoy it!

Onto the reviews...

SilentAmbiance: I'm glad you like it! I kind of see it like, yeah he is Springtrap now and stuff, but for the longest time he was William, and that just doesn't go away. And also, you're instincts are right on, they are not good people at all. Also, my work used to be terrible, seriously. I had to delete those old fics they were so terrible. Honestly it just takes time, practice, and learning by reading others work. (At least that is what worked for me). But moral of the story, never give up! It's super discouraging sometimes, and honestly every line is not going to be perfect by any means. Writing is incredibly rewarding but also aggravating at the same time. But if you have a passion for it, keep trying! And no, thats very nice of you, thank you!

xHatsAndCatsx: I'm so glad you like this! And yeah, there will certainly be more eye-rolling in the future. Thank you for the review, follow and favorite!

I own nothing but my characters

Chapter Three
Rainy Night...

Knightley stared at his still form wide-eyed, he was frozen, lifeless, and he could've been mistaken for a statue if it wasn't for the frantic movement of his eyes.

It had happened so fast she didn't even realize Andre had brought up the taser. Before she knew it, Spring was frozen in a hunched over position.

"Y...you hurt him..." she trailed quietly but was loud enough for them to hear.

"Hurt him? Girl, you do realize that it is a machine right?" Chad asked, he was now much more emboldened since the animatronic was frozen.

"B...but he is hurt!" She protested only to stiffen and take a deep breath. Especially when both of her father's friends turned to look at her.

Knightley opened her mouth to apologize, only for her father to step back into the room.

"Did you get him?" he said, entering and gazing at Spring.

"Yeah, the thing about took my head off though. You didn't warn us how active it was!" Chad protested, and her father paused before looking at her, she shrunk noticeably under his gaze.

"Yeah. He couldn't move...until someone helped him." The word was emphasized with a growl. Knightley flinched and swallowed.

"I...I'm sorry." She whispered, curled in on herself.

"...ugh. Whatever, I will deal with you later. I need to call Scott and tell him he's gotta see this." He turned to his friends and grinned, "he's gonna have to sponsor me now. Who knew this stupid place would be earnin' me some big bucks." His two buddies chuckled and glanced at Spring. Knightley followed their gaze. He still hadn't moved. Frozen in that hunched over position.

His eyes were no longer moving as frantically as he stared at them out of the corner of his eyes.

"***k, that's creepy. I thought you turned it off." Chad complained stepping back.

"I just electrocuted it stupid! I don't know what it did to it!" Andre countered stepping back as well. Knightley's father followed their lead, but she gazed at the bot quietly and didn't move.

"Alright, well I don't like the way it is looking at us. Chad go get the chains you brought. I wanna tie this thing up." Her father ordered and the two of them nodded.

Andre handed the remaining man the taser before following after Chad, and Knightley watched as her father approached Spring.

"I guess it was fate that caused you to be here. Perfect opportunity for me. Scott was about done with me. But now? Now my brother will have to listen to my ideas." He chuckled and smacked the one good ear experimentally causing it to bounce up and down on the spring it was on.

A low hissing growl emerged from the animatronic causing her father to jump back and then laugh realizing the animatronic couldn't move.

"Father...I don't think he likes this..." Knightley trailed quietly as she watched the animatronic before them. Her father laughed and turned back to her.

"Oh Knightley, you are sometimes so much like your mother I want to puke." He came over and put a hand on her head causing her to flinch. "It's just a machine child, an intelligent machine? Perhaps. But a machine all the same." He released her before heading out through the hole in the wall. "I'm going to get a beer. Don't mess with it." With that, he left.

Knightley stood silently listening to his retreating footsteps. Once they were quiet enough she turned to look at Spring. His ear was still bouncing from the momentum of the initial push. Swallowing a bit she went over and reached up getting on her tiptoes. Gently, she held the ear in place till it stopped bouncing.

"S...sorry about that." She whispered and stepped back holding her hands close to her chest. "They shouldn't have come in like that." The girl added before glancing at the hole. "Of course you would react with hostility. They came in brandishing weapons." There were a few moments of silence as she paused and took a deep breath. "I can't stop them from chaining you up. But...I can try and make sure they don't damage you too much." With a breath, she put her hands in her pockets and turned back to him. "I think father is going to take you to uncle Scott. He had proposed this idea for...a scary attraction thing? But they wanted to use...animatronics and said it would take nearly thirty years to reconstruct them from the parts they had and get them to work like they wanted...but I think with you...they now have a working one. I don't know what they will do to you there...but I can try and make sure you aren't alone again. Even if it means I stay over. Father doesn't care if I'm at home at night anyway." She shrugged, and what soon followed was the sounds of the men approaching. Knightley looked over her shoulder and retreated away from Spring and watched as Chad, Andre and her father entered, carrying some pretty heavy-duty chains.

They set them down with grunts and all three looked flushed and panted hard from the exertion. Then they proceeded to pull out beer cans from their pockets and drinking from them.

At the sight of liquid Knightley couldn't help but take note of the dryness in her mouth and throat. But she didn't like beer, it always made her father mad when she drank it, and it tasted horrible.

Her eyes flickered to the hole in the wall, this was a restaurant once right? They should have some sort of drink. She would have to check later.

After drinking, the three men turned to look at Spring. The bot was still frozen in place and continued to watch them carefully. His eyes had only moved to track Knightley when she had moved away from him.

"***king thing doesn't even have eyelids..." Chad trailed, looking uncomfortable.

"You sure man? I thought I saw them earlier when he was screeching at us." Andre countered, and Chad looked at him with a hard breath.

"That's what you were paying attention to?" At that, the darker-toned man shrugged and drank more of his beer.

"Enough you two. We don't know if it's system has a reset or something." Her father said sharply and the others nodded putting down their nearly empty cans and going over to Spring.

"Man, this thing is ginormous. How are we supposed to move it?" Andre asked, shaking his head as he took in the size of the bunny.

"I dunno, but let's chain it up first. Who knows when it will activate again." Her father suggested, and Chad nodded grabbing the chains. With a breath, Andre joined him and her father soon followed.

Knightley worried her lip as she watched them clasp the chains upon Spring. Once they were on, the animatronic began to creak and groan under the weight, and it wasn't long before he went crashing to the ground. The men flinched back and Knightley covered her mouth with her hand's eyes widening.

"***t is it broken?" Chad asked leaning in, her father crouched down and poked the bot as if that would do anything.

"You mean more than it already is?" Andre asked dryly as he crossed his arms with a breath.

"Well." Rodger started as he got to his feet, "it definitely isn't going anywhere now." He let out a breath and turned to Andre. "Did you put that Dolley into the truck?" at the question the youngest of the three winced and her father sighed. "You didn't."

"I didn't think I had to! I...didn't think you were telling the truth..."

"You didn't think I was telling the truth!?" He demanded, and Knightley couldn't help but tense.

"Well! You've lied to us before!" Andre countered and huffed crossing his arms, "look, let's just come back tomorrow. It's not like it is going anywhere." He cast his glance to Spring before back at her father.

"Yeah." Rodger took a breath and crossed his arms as well, "anyways, I'll leave Knightley here with one of your phones in case anyone tries to break in." At that Knightley stiffened and looked at him.

"Oh yeah? What is that little ^$%&% gonna do?" Chad asked, looking at her with a raised eyebrow. The girl couldn't help but shrink under his judgemental gaze.

"Well, if she screams loud enough someone is bound to hear." Her father said with a shrug.

Andre glanced at her with a half sympathetic smile, and chuckled, "I would not want to be in your shoes, missy." he shook his head and let out a breath. "Well, I'll be in the truck." He left, and Chad followed. Her father remained behind and turned to her, giving her a serious and pointed look.

"If that thing is out of those chains when I get back in the morning. You will regret it." At that, she nodded wide-eyed. He nodded as well and patted her on the head before leaving.

Knightley listened to their retreating footsteps, and then the faint sound of the car driving away...before her gaze drifted back to Spring. She let out a wry smile.

"Guess it's just you and me huh?"

Springtrap was plotting murder. He really was.

If he had been able to move, he would've killed all three of those idiots.

There was no way he was going to be able to move, it would have to take quite a few hours before he could finally move.

These old systems were always slow to reset, William remembered time after time having to wait for them to restart. Whether it be a child spilling their drink on the animatronics and short-circuiting them. Or crossing the wrong wires.

The newer ones had been better about it, but there was still that issue from time to time.

But that was the nature of dealing with machines.

However, he found it quite inconvenient when it was him suffering the consequences.

Due to the programming, built into his Spring Bonnie suit, he was acutely aware of the girl's presence in the room. He wasn't entirely sure what she was planning on doing. Ever since she had mentioned the fact that they were the only ones here. She hadn't said a word.

No longer could he look up to see her, he was completely face down on the ground and she was in his blindspot.

If only his vocal box worked.

"...I'm not...supposed to remove the chains...but I can...move them…right?" She asked, more to herself than to him.

He sure hoped that she would help, he did not think it was possible but his body somehow ached under these chains.

There were a few moments of silence before he started hearing the movement of the chains. Only slightly, but it made a clinking sound.

"...I don't think I'll be able to lift this..." she trailed, there was another pause before the sound of her retreating footsteps reached his ears.

Springtrap hoped she was getting something to lift the chains.

It had taken her a few minutes before she was able to find the original crowbar they had used to break down the wall. In all the shuffling and scurrying, it had gotten buried under the rubble a few feet away. She wasn't sure if the bunny animatronic had heard her before. Or if he was even active anymore. But she returned with the crowbar and started using it as a lever to lift the chains that had been unnecessarily placed onto the animatronic.

Once several of them were off she panted and leaned over a bit to look at his face.

"I don't know if you can move or feel them, but I've taken off several of the chains." Then she paused and thought about it, "Though, if you can hear me speaking then you probably can hear the chains moving..." she trailed before shaking her head.

It only took a few more moments before she could get the remaining chains off him. The only ones that remained upon him were the ones that clasped his wrists and ankles.

After she had done that the girl excused herself and got some water before returning. But with nothing else to do, she could only sit and watch over him.

She tried not to just stare at him, for that would've been extremely creepy, especially if he was awake and felt her gaze. Then, not only would it have been creepy, it would have been especially awkward as well.

A good portion of the night was sitting in silence. She had drifted off several times but always jerked awake. The silence was occasionally disturbed by the rain that seemed to turn on and off throughout the night.

She liked listening to the rain, it was incredibly soothing. The soft droplets that landed on the roof and the tin gutter that surrounded the building.

It eased the cloud of silence that had settled upon her and the still animatronic.

Well. Still was an adjective that only lasted for so long. Knightley nearly jumped out of her skin when there was a creak from the animatronic. She looked up at Spring and watched as his fingers started to move, with his arms soon following. His ears began to twitch, and slowly the rest of him started to move.

"Spring?" She asked softly as his gears groaned. Slowly, and with a lot of creaks he pushed himself up.

"...I ***king hate tasers..." he groaned in the heavy rasp.

"I...I tried to get some of them off...but father doesn't want you free." She said quietly as she rubbed her eyes.

"Yeah...I heard." There were more creaks and groans from his joints as he moved into a sitting position. However, it was very obvious that there were certain positions that the animatronic suit wasn't built to be in.

One of them was sitting on his knees, and as a result, he was standing on his knees, unable to bend them anymore.

The weight of the chains probably didn't help as well.

"Do...you need help?" She asked softly, and he looked at her tilting his head and letting his whole ear fall to the side a bit.

"I'm curious as to how you would accomplish that." At that, she flushed a bit.

"Well...I got the chains off you, so maybe..." she trailed, but he just shook his head.

"No. At the moment you are my only assistance. And lifting me up could cause you to strain something." He paused and stared at the wall before looking at her through the corner of his eyes. "Also. You are a shrimp." At that, she looked down at herself.

"...I'm stronger than I look." She protested meekly but jumped as she heard a slight chuckle from the animatronic.

"Sure you are." He lifted his head and looked through the makeshift doorway. "You know I really hate your father." He said growling.

She followed his gaze and took a breath after digesting the sudden change in subject, "yeah, most people do." Taking a deep breath she turned back to him. "...they will be here in the morning. Then they will be taking you to Scott."

"I figured as much. ...you do know your father is very stupid, thinking this is a good idea." He added, turning his attention back to her.

"...what do you mean?" She asked slowly, watching him.

For a moment the animatronic paused as he gazed at her. There was nothing on his face that betrayed his thoughts, not even when the upper part of his good ear slowly stood up. He just stared at her for a long and uncomfortably silent moment.

"I'm an old machine. You can never be sure how long I will be able to work. He and your uncle are risking a lot of money here." He finally said after the period of silence.

Knightley took a moment of her own to pause. There was a strange instinctive feeling within her that he may not have been telling her the truth.

But she couldn't be certain.

"...yeah, but he does those kinds of deals all the time." She finally sat back down, and leaned against the wall, mindful of how it bowed under her weight.

Silence fell upon them again and she couldn't help how her eyes flickered up to Spring. She looked over him a moment, and couldn't help but remember earlier. When he was going after Chad and Andre. They were being terrible, yes, and they probably deserved what they got.

...the only problem she had...was his very obvious urge to kill.

The rage that had been displayed in his demeanor and vocals had triggered a feeling in Knightley.

A familiar feeling that she did her best to ignore.

But...that feeling, was probably why she didn't particularly feel comfortable sleeping around him. What if he decided that she was suddenly a threat? Granted, what could possibly make her a threat to him? She was probably being paranoid, he hadn't done anything to her even when he wasn't chained up.

Knightley curled up drawing her knees close to her and watched as he struggled against the weight of the chains and finally got up. Throughout this process, many of the old and rusted joints groaned and complained loudly.

The strange thing was, Knightley could acutely recall that there had been something within his suit…

And yet as she looked at him now...she saw nothing.

Honestly, she wasn't sure what to make of that.

Suffice it to say, the rest of the night went by peacefully. The majority of it was in silence, only occasionally broken up by either the rain or very basic small talk. Knightley wasn't sure she had ever found herself in a stranger situation than she was in at the moment.

Because strangely enough, this was one of the most peaceful nights she had in a while.

Springtrap, or William...or whatever he was now. He had expected the child to rattle on, as children do, talking about complete nonsense in a continued fashion for hours on end without someone stopping them.

But she hadn't.

It was very disconcerting.

Time passed at an unknown speed around them, the dull yellow glow of the light bulb gave nothing of the time away to them. Both sat in silence, lost within their own minds, whether it be dreading tomorrow, or reflecting on the circumstances that brought them here. Both sat there, neither willing to break the silence that had fallen like a blanket over them.

It was only due to the light from outside of the room bleeding into the hole did they know that daytime arrived. The girl said something about getting a drink and then left the room. Springtrap was cast into the yellow glow, alone and in the ominous silence.

As he sat there, his mind couldn't help but wander and wander it did, it went back to the day that was foggiest in his memory.

The day he died.

That day his life ended wasn't clear in his memory. He remembered getting cornered by the children and climbing into the suit. But that's when things got fuzzy. Perhaps it was the pain that blotted out the memory. Perhaps it was him purposefully blocking it out.

But he did remember the fear.

The first time he had felt genuine fear in his life. Not even when Michael had been bit by Fredbear had he felt as much fear as he felt then.

Maybe he had known that his sins had caught up with him. How did he know he wouldn't just be sent straight to hell?

He didn't, and it was the unknown that terrified him.

It was a strange experience, up until that point. Emotions of his own had never been powerful enough to produce a genuine physical reaction. Normally he would feel the vague sensation of emotion and have to overplay it so people weren't disturbed to be around him. It was a trick that both got him married, and caused his divorce.

It seems he couldn't fool everyone.

Reminiscing had never been something William had strived to do. After all, what happened is what happened and nothing he could do could change that. But as he found himself in here, in this strange and out of this world situation. He couldn't help but wonder where had his left been set upon this result? When had this pathway of his life opened up?

Was it when he killed Henry's daughter Charlie? Was it when he first approached the Byrds about making the animatronics? Was it even as far back as when he broke his sister's arm and laughed about it?

Suffice it to say, William had never been a man in touch with his emotions. In fact, they seemed like such a distant sensation. One that he heard about, and saw, but never experienced.

Until fear had captured and dug its claws into his heart on that day.

...because now he felt things.

Whether it be the spring locks or the fear of the unknown. On that day something in him had snapped.

He didn't want to be here alone. He didn't want this to be a dream. Sure it could be chalked up to basic human nature of not wanting to be isolated.

But...one could also say he wasn't human anymore.

Yet, he found himself straining his ears, despite being physically unable to do that. He found himself waiting for her return, the sound of the soft rain was his only company, and he was finding it unsatisfactory.

No...not unsatisfactory, there was another word.

….upsetting. He found it upsetting.

Springtrap didn't like to be alone.

Being alone made him think back on things he didn't want to recall, things he hadn't really had a problem with before. But perhaps it was post-death regrets because now he found himself…

Feeling strange.

This was likely reminiscent of the trauma that just occurred. Whether his body was still with him or not, a trauma had happened. Even if it was blurred in his memory, it still happened.

The trauma was likely the reason for the fluctuation of unexplainable emotions within him.

The top half of his good ear lifted, and he looked up at the sound of more than one voice. They all were familiar except for one.

"...so, this is the place huh? This better be good Rodger, or Scott will be cutting you off completely." The voice explained finally coming in earshot of William. The once man leaned to the side a bit to see if he could spot the oncoming humans. But they were just out of view.

"It is! It is, I swear. Look, this is exactly what Scott is looking for. It's ***king scary." Rodger promised and Springtrap looked down at his chains. They were too heavy to lift in his weakened condition. Intimidation was really the only tool at his disposal.

His head snapped up with an angry whine of the metal when the men entered the room. Followed by the small girl who was now carrying beer.

The unfamiliar man stopped at the sight of him, and the once man couldn't help look up a bit. From his sitting position, this twig of a man towered over him.

"Is...is that...real…?" He breathed, particularly vibrant green eyes wide.

"I could ask the same about you Gigantor," William responded dryly, the man's eyebrows raised up.

"And it can speak..."

"H...he...he can speak." The girl interjected before both the animatronic and man turned to look at her.

"Shut up Knightley." Her father ordered, not even looking at her. But the new man glanced at him irritably before turning to the girl once more.

"Why do you say that?" He asked curiously, and William couldn't help but squint at him a bit.

"I uh...well...he...has a man's voice." She looked to the side brows furrowed a bit in confusion. His eyes flickered to her. She must've known he was a man after taking out his previous body.

But, since she didn't remember that. This must be a subconscious awareness.

"Fair point." The man admitted before turning back to Springtrap. "Well, since you seem quite sentient, I should probably treat you as such." He proceeded to flash a half-smile that would've made the rabbit raise an eyebrow if he had one. "My name is Quientin Rush. What's yours?"

So! Lots more introspective thoughts on Springtrap! I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!

What did you think of Springtrap? Of Knightley? This chapter just introduced a new character who will play an important role going forward! I have two more characters that I plan on introducing! I can't wait for them to meet them!

Thank you for the favorites, follows and reviews! Every bit of support means so much to me!
