Reese hit the send button on the cancelation email for her 2:00 o'clock appointment; she hoped she made the right decision in listening to Christian about his buyer. She sat replaying the earlier part of her morning in her head over and over. She didn't like being so intimately handled without the ending she wanted; Christian had caught her off guard when he stopped and reiterated that he wanted her to be his to do as he pleased. Mentally, she wasn't sure if she could handle giving him sexual control over her.
Naomi calling…
"Hello?"
"Hey girl. How are you?"
"I'm fine," Reese said hesitantly, "What's up?"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well first of all, why didn't you tell me you weren't coming in to work today?"
"Ugh," Reese sighed, "I just wasn't feeling it and besides, I had a showing over at Melrose, so I wanted to stay on this side of town."
"About that," Naomi paused, "your client just called the office and said you cancelled his appointment and he was really looking forward to seeing the property and putting in an offer."
"I... uh…—"
"So now do you want to tell me what's going on, because I thought we were trying to get this commission?"
"Yea," she sighed, "Chr— Mr. Grey, has a buyer, an associate of his. He wants to close after the brokers open event on Friday."
"Oh," she said surprised, "Well that's good news…a little heads up would have been nice so I could have been spared from Victor's wrath."
"I'll talk to Victor," she said quickly, "I'll just need to get proof of income from Mr. Grey's associate and finalize his offer."
"Awesome, we should celebrate tonight!"
"I don't know. I don't really feel like going out," Reese said in a low tone.
"Are you sick?"
"No."
"Okay, well then we're celebrating. We just made a million-dollar commission," she shouted excitedly through the phone.
"Okay, okay," she laughed.
"Great! Scott and I will be there at six to pick you up. Love you, bye." Click
"Bye," Reese mumbled, glancing over at Loki who was laying at her feet, "guess I'm going out tonight."
Meow
"Yes, you can eat now," she sighed, petting him, and headed to the kitchen to fix his dinner.
Victor calling…
Reese glanced at her phone as she grabbed Loki's dinner. Of course, Victor was calling. Guess it was her turn to get chewed out.
"Hello," she said reluctantly.
"Reese."
"Yes," her voice trailed.
"What is this that I'm hearing about you cancelling a showing?" he sounded upset and annoyed.
"Oh yea," she paused, "Mr. Grey has a buyer—"
"Reese," he interrupted, "have you met this buyer?"
"No," she said softly, "but I—"
"Okay, so how many times have I told you, unless you have physically met this client or have proof of income, you don't close a sale."
"Well I haven't closed the sale yet," she said slightly defensive.
"So why are we canceling appointments?" his voice slightly raising, "Mr. Farber was ready to close today at asking price. How often does that happen?"
"Never," she paused, "but Mr. Grey's buyer—"
"You better hope that his buyer comes through," he paused, "I'm really disappointed in you, especially because I didn't hear this from you and I had to hear about it from the client."
"I'm sorry," she said softly.
"You need to get your head in the game. I know it's your last week, but we still have a reputation to uphold, that means you too."
"I know," she said softly again.
"Sorry for yelling," he sighed, "have a good night." Click
Reese grabbed her phone to text Christian. She knew better to bend rules at the Redwood Group especially at this magnitude; this entire sale could fall apart.
1:19 PM Reese: Can you validate your buyer's income?
1:25 PM 3234933687: Sure.
1:25 PM Reese: Thanks
1:27 PM 3234933687: Anything I can do to help.
1:29 PM Reese: Great.
1:30 PM 3234933687: So, what can I do to help you not to be afraid of me?
Reese stared at the text. She didn't know how to respond. She wasn't afraid of him in the way that you're slightly afraid that your next door neighbor could be the serial killer from that episode you watched late one night of unsolved mysteries. She was afraid of giving him control and what that actually meant. She was afraid of being compared to anyone he's ever been with especially his wife.
1:35 PM Reese: I don't know…
