Ch 7

JJ made California with Kaede taking a nap on the passenger side. He could see she wasn't very comfortable. The seats didn't go back far, unlike his old truck. On the dash, he got another warning that he only had 50 miles worth of gas left. Like he couldn't read the gas gauge.

Seeing a rest stop, gas station, he pulled in and up to the pumps. "Hey, Kaede, gas stop," he told her.

Kaede opened her eyes. "Ughhh about time." she grumbled.

They got out and went inside. Kaede headed for the bathroom. JJ went up to the counter and said, "Pump 6, Forty bucks, regular."

The attendant asked, "Can I see your PSR card?"

"My what?"

"With your PSR membership card, gas is $4.20 a gallon. Without it, it's $9.50," she said.

"Talk about highway robbery," he grumbled.

She shrugged. "That's the law."

JJ put his debit card on the counter. "I 'm not, nor will I ever be associated with the PSR," he stated. "Give me ten gallons."

"Your choice," she said. "You really should get an electric car. It's only ten bucks for a recharge."

JJ paid the outrageous bill and went out to gas up. On the way out, he saw a poster promoting the benefits of joining the PSR. Wonderful things like being able to own your own home, less expensive fees, being recognized as a true patriot, and best of all, access to all cities and businesses. He also noted the new California flag. It was red with a white star on it.

No wonder people were fleeing California in droves.

JJ pumped his gas, it went in rather slow as the price numbers flew high. For the ten gallons he bought, he got nine and a half when the pump stopped. He tried to restart it. Nope, that was it. He went back in to complain.

Going back to the counter, he told the woman, "You still owe me a half gallon."

"Sorry, only PSR members can complain," she stated.

JJ shook his head. "You people are really screwed up."

She eyed him. "Then leave the state," she stated.

He put on a fake smile. "I got a better idea," he said. "BY the way, where's my receipt."

"You're not PSR, only they get receipts."

Suddenly her neck shrunk to look much thinner. From beside him, JJ saw Kaede appear. In a malevolent tone, she said, "If you ever want to breathe again, you'll give him what he wants."

The woman opened her mouth, he face reddened and tears came to her eyes.

"Better hurry," Kaede said. The woman quickly did something on the register and a receipt popped out, JJ took it and looked at it as the woman grabbed at her neck. She'd turned the pump back on and credited him with five more gallons. Of course it was a hundred dollar bill he paid.

The woman sagged in place and fell to the floor.

"We better get the gas and leave," JJ said.

Back out to the truck, JJ filled the tank, Kaede stood beside him as he pumped.

"Did you kill her?" he asked.

"She just passed out on her feet," Kaede said as she watched the building. "I didn't break her neck until she was on the floor."

The pump stopped. JJ replaced the nozzle. "We better go. I'll find someplace else to get us some food."

JJ drove away to find a police car following him. Not far from the rest stop, the lights came on. With a sigh, JJ pulled over.

Two cops got out, guns drawn and bracketed the truck. One yelled, "Get out, hands in the air, NOW!"

"Stay here," Kaede said. She got out, hands up.

SPAT SPLAT

Kaede got back in. "We can go now," she said calmly.

JJ was glad there was hardly any traffic. Stopping at that station, he knew why. They were moving across desert. It was fairly flat. "I'm thinking getting off the highway would be better." he said.

"Yes, slow down, I'll make us a path."

JJ slowed down. Off to the left was a secondary road. He turned towards the guard rail and it pushed open. After he drove through, it bend back shut. The east bound lanes did the same thing. He drove across land and got on the secondary road. There were signs for the Salton sea.

"I'm glad I have you along," he said. "You make it easy to get out of trouble." He cast Kaede a grin.

Kaede let out a snort. "We fight the bad guys together, right?"

"We do. When we get to San Diego, we'll have plenty of help. Mom is collecting an army there. If we don't make it today, we'll be there tomorrow."

"JJ, that woman at the counter was PSR, the enemy," Kaede told him.

"I know," he agreed. "I bet most of the people left here are PSR. I'm not angry you killed her. It's just the choice she made is sad. Same with those men in that cop car. They had military uniforms on. They weren't real cops."

"We're going to have to kill a lot of people," Kaede said in a musing tone.

"Yeah, most likely," he agreed. "Don't have to like it, but we didn't start it. It's just real sad."

They saw a roadside motel with a restaurant coming up. "JJ, stop there."

JJ pulled into the empty lot and backed up to the building. He and Kaede went in. In the restaurant behind the counter was a man watching TV. He glanced at them. "NO I won't support your PSR, so be on your way," he told them.

"Good, neither do we," JJ said.

"We came here to fight it," Kaede added.

That got the man's attention. "Where you from?"

"Texas," JJ told him. "I'm John Connor Junior, this is Kaede Kikumura."

Kaede looked a the TV and said, "We're on the news."

The scene showed the counter woman crumpled behind the counter. The reporter said, "Two anti-goverment terrorists killed a helpless counter woman, then when chased by police, killed two policemen! The criminals are a man with long dark hair and a woman with long pink hair. They are driving a dark blue small pickup gas guzzler and are though to be headed to LA! If you see these people, report them immediately."

"They weren't cops, they were PSR soldiers," JJ said.

"What can I get you?" the man asked.

"Got a menu?" JJ asked.

"Up there, pick what you want. You killed two of those assholes, for that, no charge. Take your pick."

"Can we have a room for the night?" Kaede asked.

The man nodded. "Take your pick, it's been real slow here, but I've learned to cope. Room keys are over there."

"Ah, Kaede?" JJ asked, "We still got a few hours of daylight."

"Those PSR men will be out in force looking for us," Kaede reminded him. "I'm also very tired of riding. Food and bed sounds real good."

The man said, "Park your truck around back, under the lean to. First tell me what you want."

"Thank you. Could I get one of those big whiskey burgers with veggies on top and some fries?" JJ asked.

"Coming up! You Ma'am?"

That ce... that salad right there," Kaede said pointing.

"Caesar salad? Sure. Be back in a moment."

JJ went out and drove the truck around back. he parked under the roof like structure then went back around to the front to go back in.

They had a good meal. While they ate, the man told them about the resistance group at the top of the Salton sea that was gathering. "They don't have many weapons, but enough that the PSR hasn't bother them yet. PSR has a picket around them, but they don't move in. I think they are waiting to starve them out and for them to give up."

"I'll tell Mom about them," JJ said. "She's at the naval base in San Diego. I'm sure we can remove that picket."

JJ called Delilah after they ate. She organized a strike on the PSR for tomorrow morning. He and Kaede were to hit them from the east, she'd take care of the north and west. The priority was getting rid of PSR in the area and getting those people help, as well as recruiting everyone possible. JJ and Kaede were to be in place by 4 AM for a dawn attack, as stealthy as possible.

JJ had another 40 miles to go, so he decided they needed that room to get some sleep early to be up and out in time.

The room they got only had one bed. That was fine, they'd slept together before. They agreed a shower in the early morning to help wake them up. Settling down to go to sleep, JJ had an arm around Kaede as she laid up against him. That was fine too, she didn't have nightmares when he was holding her.

While they drifted off, they discussed how to take down guards quietly. A quick beheading was the best. JJ could use his sword, and Kaede would just rip their heads off. JJ set his internal clock for 2:30 AM.

As he set, he woke up at 2:30 and got Kaede up. Going into the bathroom JJ got in the shower. He was still bleary eyed. It didn't register at first when Kaede joined him. He blinked at seeing the pink hair and set of stubby horns right in front of him.

"Ah, Kaede?" he asked in surprise.

"Hurry up and get clean, wash my back, I'll do yours," she said, sounding half awake.

"But..." He did see Kaede has a nice back side. He took the soapy cloth and washed her. This was nice. It felt like he was taking advantage of her, but it did feel real nice. after he did her back, she did wash his then turned him back around to hold her as she bent backwards and washed her hair.

Damn! Did Kaede ever look nice! Those nips at the end of her large soft looking breasts were perfect.

Too soon they were clean and out getting dried off. JJ's mind was in a dither, Kaede was indeed a fine looking woman. Concentrating on getting dried and dressed in dark clothes, he tried not to see her long legs and that pretty pink patch between them. She was shapely in all the right places.

It was a bit embarrassing and pretty hot. Even so, JJ didn't say a word as they got ready to go. He found a black cloth to cover her hair, head and face wraps for both of them. long coats, for him to hide his sword, and for Kaede to be more shapeless in the dark.

On the road, JJ used his infrared to drive so he didn't need headlights. Thinking about their shower now he was more awake, he said, "You are a pretty woman, Kaede."

"You are a handsome man, JJ," She replied. "You didn't mind showering with me, did you?"

"Not at all. I was a bit surprised, but you did help me wake up," he offered.

Kaede giggled. "I was sure that would do it. I do like you, JJ."

"I think you're awesome, Kaede. I just can't promise anything, except for fighting those PSR pieces of shit."

"Neither can I. We fight the battles first, then see what happens."

"Agreed. I'm just glad you're with me."

"Me too."

In a sudden thought, JJ said, "I'd like to get some nanites in you too. In case you get hurt, I want you to be able to heal up."

"Can you do that?"

"Not right now, but Mom knows how."

JJ drove on and spotted heat forms in the distance. They were on the road and behind a barricade. He slowed down, letting the truck idle as they got closer. "Got people on the road, and a barricade. Looks like camp to the side. Bout a half mile up."

Kaede said, "It's only 3:32. This party starts at 4, right?"

"Yeah, I figure let the truck roll to a stop on this next rise, then we walk. We should be there to ruin their day in time."

"The dome light comes on when we open the doors, lights do too," Kaede reminded him.

"Lights are off. Kill the dome light for me?"

She ripped the dome light apart.

"Thanks."

JJ stopped and they got out thankfully, the truck stayed dark. They walked up the small rise. Kaede whispered, "Get behind me and hold on, I got an idea."

JJ got behind her. "What?" he asked quietly.

He grabbed his hands, put them under her arms and onto her shoulders. "Hang on, I'm going to make us horizontal."

Kaede tipped forward. JJ suppressed a yelp. A foot off the ground, Kaede drifted forward off the road dodging bushes. She sneaked up to the two guards at the concrete barricades noiselessly.

Splat Splat The guard's heads tumbled off, the bodies toppled over onto barricades.

Kaede rose vertically. "Now, the sleepers," she whispered.

There were two tents. JJ went in one. Kaede went in the other. JJ used his sword to cut the throat of the one on the left, then the one on the right. They woke up wide eyed just in time to die.

Kaede came out of the other tent. "See any more?" she asked.

JJ scanned the area in infrared. He made a full inspection of the area. "No one anywhere in sight. This is one weak picket. I'll go get the truck. Remove the barricade for me?"

"I'll clear the road."

By the time JJ go the truck up to where the camp was, Kaede had the road cleared. It was a few minutes past 4.

JJ's phone rang. He picked it up. "JJ."

"Ready to go?" Delilah asked.

"Already done. Road's clear to the east."

"Great. Continue on in after the sun's up. Let them see you and assure them you're Texas Guard, NOT PSR."

.

In Ohio, Duncan and Jackie set out to continue north. So far, they had met more people hating the PSR than supported them. Once the leaders were taken down, PSR collapsed. In Ohio, PSR was deemed a criminal organization.

Illinois was their next stop. In the morning Duncan was driving. Coming up on the State border, they came to a roadblock. Two vehicles sideways on the road with soldiers behind them. Duncan pulled up close and stopped. He and Jackie got out.

"Show your PSR ID or turn around and leave!" a soldier with Lt. bars on his shoulders demanded.

"That's not very nice!" Jackie called back.

"It's the law! No interstate travel unless you can prove you are PSR"

Jackie notice the other soldiers were only eyeing them. She pulled her driver's license out and held it in her left hand, edge on. The man came forward to look at it.

Plasma shot, she obliterated his entire upper torso. Duncan announced, "Guns down, or she'll kill all of you!"

Three of the eight lowered their guns. Two pulled up to shoot. Jackie got one before he could shoot, the other shot when she did. Jackie took the shot, the solider dropped, his remains burning. Another solider pulled up to shoot, she incinerated him. The others ran back behind their vehicles.

Duncan ran at the vehicles and got in one as a soldier got in the other side. Duncan kicked him out and started the truck. He backed it off the road. Three of the soldiers ran away up the road. Two others dropped their guns and put their hands in the air.

Duncan got the other vehicle off the road. Jackie went up to the pair who surrendered.

"We just do what we're told so we don't get killed!" one announced.

"Don't fear the PSR, fear me!" Jackie replied. "We've come to get rid of those slime balls!"

"Please do!" the other one said. "They treat everyone horribly. You can't have or do anything unless you swear loyalty to them."

"Help us and soon, you'll no longer have to worry about them," Jackie told them.

"Yeah, OK, we know some guys who'll be eager to help."

Jackie motioned to the ground and said, "Pick up the guns lying around, get them in the back of that truck. All your supplies too. If you want the PSR gone, then help us fight them."

"Where's your command post?" Duncan asked.

"Bout three miles up, That's where they deploy the road guards and reserve force."

"Get in the truck, you're driving me there," Jackie told them.

Duncan grabbed up a gun. "Part way there, then I'm going in with you."

.

On the way, they caught up to the three who'd ran. Jackie had the driver tell them to get in the back. They started to climb in, saw Jackie, screamed and ran off to the sides of the road. OH well, they had a driver and another on the passenger side, that was enough to get them close. During the stop, Duncan parked and got in the back.

Coming up to what looked like it used to be police station, Jackie had them stop right by the front door. She instructed Duncan to cover the back. Once he was out and around the side of the building, Jackie jumped out and went in the front door.

The desk clerk in front halted her, she plasmaed him. She walked past, another man came from an office and lifted a gun at her. A bright flash from her plasma canon, he was ashes smouldering on the floor. Another office door, she kicked in and plasmaed the men inside. A couple came out another door, she incinerated them too. Kicking open another door all she saw was hands and knees under the desk. She hit the desk with a bolt. The man behind it screamed and tried to flee. His forearms and lower legs burning. She kicked him in the head to kill him.

In the back, Duncan warned the men piling out to stop and drop their guns. Many did and got on their knees as instructed. The one who didn't Duncan shot him. By the time Jackie cleared the inside, Duncan had five men on their knees, hand locked on their heads. Once Jackie came out the back, they searched the men. One was an officer. Jackie pulled him to his feet, threw him to the side and hit him with a plasma shot.

Duncan talked to the others. They were forced into the into the PSR like the other two who surrendered. Jackie ripped all their PSR emblems off.

"You can fight for us, and your fellow citizens, or walk away," Duncan told them. "Any PSR officer we find will be killed."

One man knew where there was a 'rebel' camp. He was supplying them information so they didn't get caught.

"Then take the guns and supplies in that truck and go join them." Duncan told them. They were happy to do so.

Duncan also noticed Jackie had taken a few rounds. "We need to get those bullets out of you," he told her.

"Yeah, they itch," Jackie agreed with a wince.

It was getting later in the afternoon, they moved on and came to a town. Duncan stopped at the pharmacy and got some bandages and disinfectant. The bullet holes were small so he didn't ask for a suture kit, thinking that might be suspicious. Going to the counter the counter lady there asked, "Rebels? You might want a suture kit."

"We're not..." he stopped when she put a suture kit on the counter.

"The only ones fixing themselves up are rebels. PSR control the hospitals. Just take it. I'm sure you'll need it," she told him.

Duncan went to pay and she waved him off. "Just go kill more of those PSR bastards."

"Thank you," he told her.

Knowing he had to help Jackie, he found a motel and stopped early. Here, the man didn't ask for PSR ID either. He gave them a room in the back, out of sight of the road.

It had been a while since Duncan has stitched someone up, but he did know how. Jackie took three in her back and another four in her front. He did her back first, carefully pulling squashed bullets out, add some disinfectant, sewed the wound shut them bandaged it.

"That side's done." he said when he got them all.

Bare torso, Jackie turned over. "I appreciate you doing this. The one in my boob is a bit deep," she said. "I can do it if you feel uncomfortable."

"Just relax, I'll get them." He did the one on her lower ribs first, then the one on her upper sternum, then the one right above her right breast. Now to do the one that had gone deep into her left boob. He led out sigh and held her boob from moving as he reached in carefully, doing his best to follow the hole. Of course her nipple pruned up. he also noticed she was grimacing. "I'm being as gentle as I can," he offered.

"I know, it's just a ways to my ribs from there," Jackie said in a hiss.

Feeling inside, he found the bullet and pulled it out.

"Forget the antiseptic, just sew me shut, My nanites will take care of any infection," she told him.

He only nodded and did as she asked. "The inside will heal all right?"

"Yeah, it will. Thanks for doing this. It sucks having to do it myself."

Duncan finished up and said, "You shirt is ruined. I'll go throw it away."

"After we're ready to leave, so no one knows we're here," she said. She went into bathroom and cleaned the blood off herself. "Ah, Duncan, I can't reach spots on my back."

Duncan came in and took her wash cloth to clean her back. Like sewing her up, he tried to pretend it wasn't a sexy young woman he was washing.

Done, he went out on the room and picked up the suture kit. Thankfully, Jackie put a new shirt on. Her bra was blood stained, she left that with the bloody shirt. Duncan did his best to ignore the left nipple that was still pruned up and poking out at her shirt. The right one was too, but not as much.

The sight of Jackie was beginning to get to him.

.

Going up through Georgia and the Carolinas, Joan and Allison found there too, the people had enough or the PSR. Only once did they have to intervene. Some PSR was holed up in a concrete building the angry residents couldn't get in, and the PSR was keeping them at bay. The tall prison like structure had power cut to it, but no one could climb the high walls.

Joan convinced the group to give her a long rope and grappling hook, and a couple home made grenades. After it was dark she and Allison crawled up to the structure. Joan thew the rope up. The grapple caught. She climbed up the outside, followed by Allison. The roof was flat, and had a couple guards facing the mass of the townspeople who'd chased them in here. Joan pulled her pistols and waited until Allie was up here with her. Once they were up and ready to rock, they sneaked up behind the sleepy looking guards looking down. At the same time they got close, then kicked the two guards off the roof. Screaming on the way down, those guards alerted others, who came running up and onto the roof. They killed eight guards and took a few bullets themselves.

"You OK, Allie?" Joan asked.

"Nothing bad, you?"

"I'm Ok." They went to the open door down into the building peeking in more guards were coming up the stairs. Joan activated a grenade and tossed it down. She and Allie shot down into the guards. When the grenade went off, Bodies tumbled. Joan and Allison ran down the stairs. Allison killed a wounded guard. The rest were dead.

Inside the building at night with no lights, The pair of cyborgs had the advantage. Seeing the infrared forms long before the PSR men saw them, Joan and Allison went though the place killing and dodging back before the return fire came. Shooting both her pistols empty, Joan took up an assault rifle and the two spare clips from a dead PSR man. The place was good sized, and had a few reinforced doors. When the PSR men shut the doors, Joan ran hard, full tilt and jumped up to slam into the door with her feet, breaking it down. Allison now too with an assault rifle shot inside the second the door was down. Joan joined in to clear another room.

Room by room, level by level, they cleared the building. Joan found a man who had a 9MM pistol. After she killed him, she took his spare rounds and ejected the ones out of his gun to get 10 more rounds into an empty clip. Having ammunition for her pistols, she left the assault rifle. Pistol were better for tight quarters and around the corner shots. Not long after that, they came to the PSR's last stand, a warehouse room with plenty of crates for defense.

Normally, this was a good tactic. In the dark it worked against the remaining PSR. Joan and Allison belly crawled into the room. Hearing noise, the men sprayed shots at belly level, that passed high over them. Joan could also see gaps in the crate defense the PSR men couldn't. She crawled between a couple crates and and began killing them. By the time they realized what was happening eight of the ten were dead. The last two, on the ends shot and killed each other.

A man in the back called, "I surrender!" Allison peeked over the crates. It was a PSR officer. She killed him.

Joan and Allison went out the front, each with quite a few holes in them. Car headlights immediately illuminated them. They raised up their hands.

Joan announced, "We think we got them all. Better wait until morning before you go in there to be sure."

A few women ran out calling for a stretcher. Joan and Allison were bloody from their heads to their feet.

"Please, pull the bullets out of us. This hurts," Allison asked.

"We can walk, we just hurt," Joan said.

They were cheered and treated as heros. The hospital here was no longer under PSR control, Joan and Allison were rushed to it.

Joan had to explain to the doctors to just get forceps or needle nose pliers to pull the bullets out of them. There was no need for anesthesia or antiseptics. Just get the bullets out and cover the holes. Both girls cringed when the doctors cut their bloody clothes off. Joan convinced the doctors to keep their weapons near by.

15 bullets were pulled out of Joan, 18 came out of Allison. Once they were patched up, an orderly got them exercise sweats the hospital sold so they had something to wear. Of course a few reporters showed up. They were very proud of these two girls had gotten in and cleaned out that building of PSR when their local militia couldn't to it. They also noted the number of shots each girl had taken, and wondered how they lived through that.

"We're cyborgs." Joan told the reporters. "Our bones aren't made of calcium, but a dense metal, and we have interior armor protection. Bullets don't go deep when they hit us. It still hurts when we're shot, but getting shot won't kill us."

"Hurts like hell," Allison corrected."We can also see in infrared, so in that dark building, they couldn't see us, but we could see them. Their 'spraying and praying' didn't do them much good."

"Where did you come from?" a female reporter asked in a swoon.

"Texas," Joan said. "We're part of the Connor clan. Someone hit us with a nuke. That killed all the normal humans in town. It knocked us for a loop, but we recovered. Now, we're out to find out who's responsible for that."

"It's true then!" a man asked, "Our Government dropped a nuke on it's own citizens?"

"We haven't verified yet who's responsible," Joan said. "We know who made the flight and from where. We also know that plane blew up with the nuke on board. The pilot's wife turned in a missing person's report and a couple days later she was murdered and their house was burned to the ground. Someone is covering up as hard as they can, we have not found who that is yet."

"So you're saying it could well be the government behind this."

"Could be," Joan said. "We've not yet identified who's responsible. But we will."

"That is why you're here in North Carolina?" he asked.

"No, we're here to help get rid of PSR. We do hold them as prime suspects in that bombing. We also hate what they are trying to do to our country and all the people. We will get rid of them as we go." Allison said.

"Can you speculate why someone hit you with a nuclear weapon?"

"We know why," Joan stated. "This PSR rose up at the same time. They know unless they got rid of us, we will get rid of them. So they killed a quiet peaceful town, murdered hundreds just to try to kill my family. Guess what, they killed those innocent people for nothing. They performed Mass murder and we still came up out of the ashes, and for doing that to out peaceful town, we WILL destroy the PSR. If you see any, you can tell that PSR scum that we are coming for them and they will not stop us."

.

John watched the broadcast. He had mixed feelings about it. In one way, he knew this had to frighten many PSR people. That also meant that many would try to slip away to avoid being found. He was proud that Joan and Allison had told the truth on National television. Then again, Joan was one not to keep anything quiet. He also wondered how the President was taking this broadcast.

.

Out of the hospital in their sweat suits advertising the name of the hospital, their gun belts, pistols and Joan's sword in full view, The pair went looking for two things. On, a gun store to buy ammunition, the other, find out where Josh went with their truck. Joan expected he'd be parked somewhere near the hospital. He wasn't. They could find neither him, nor their truck anywhere.

Thankfully, a man driving by recognized them and gave them a ride. "I'm Jerry, I seen you two, get in, I'll take you wherever to want to go."

"Thanks, Jerry!" Joan said and they piled in. "Gun store first, we need ammo. Then we have to try to find Josh and our truck."

On the way to a gun shop he was taking them to, they pondered where Josh could be.

"Think he took the truck and went home?" Allison asked.

Joan eyed her. "That would mean he actually had to do something. He didn't even follow us to the hospital!"

"You don't think he is still sitting where we parked, do you?"

Joan snorted. "I bet he is."

Jerry waited in the car while Joan and Allison went in to buy 9mm rounds to fill their empty clips. The clerk was nice and helped them fill their clips from the boxes. He even gave them a bulk discount for buying 150 rounds.

Jerry drove them back to the building they'd cleared the night before.

"There he is," Allison said. She pointed over to Josh leaning back on the hood of their truck. Jerry drove over to him.

Allison got out and glared at Josh, "We went to the hospital, where the hell were YOU!" she yelled.

Josh frowned. "Joan told me to wait here, I did!" he retorted.

"ARE YOU THAT FUCKING STUPID!" Allison wailed at him. "You HAD to have see us leave with those EMT's You did see we were hurt, didn't you?"

"I knew you wouldn't die," he said defensively.

Joan came over shaking her head. "You really are worthless, Josh. Jerry here gave us a ride back from the hospital, If it wasn't for him, we would have had a long walk." She frowned at him and said, "Get your stuff out of the truck."

Josh eyed her. "Why?"

"Allison go grab Josh's bag."

Allison got in the truck and pulled his bag out.

"What are you doing, I have to watch out for you," Josh said.

"You aren't doing SHIT!" Joan spat. "You've done nothing but whine and complain, I've had it with you. I don't give a damn where you go, as long as it's someplace we're NOT!"

Joan got in the driver's seat, Allison tossed Josh's bag on the ground and got in the passenger side. Joan started the truck called out the window, "Move or I'll run your ass over!"

Josh went over and picked up his bag. Joan tore out and raced away. Josh watched them go. He shook his head sadly. He'd failed again. To Jerry, he asked, "Can I get a ride into town?"

Jerry shook his head and left.

"Everyone hates me," Josh grumbled.
