Hello, everyone! My name is DocRider, and welcome to my first attempt at writing a My Hero Academia story.

It's been awhile since I wrote a story and this will be my first reincarnation story. It'll also be my first "transgender" story (transgender is in quotes since the MC will not be reincarnating into their own body, but rather, a body of the opposite gender), so go easy on me.

Obviously, since I'm using a world that's not my own, a disclaimer is needed. My Hero Academia and its characters are all owned by Shueisha, Viz Media, Shonen Jump, Studio Bones, Funimation, and, most important of all, Kohei Horikoshi. All other characters in this story are created by me.

I don't know how regular uploads will be, considering I have both a Twitch and YouTube channel that are regularly updated with streams and videos multiple times a week, as well as a Dungeons & Dragons session I run every other Sunday (although, it might be 2 games on the same day), but I will try my best.

One thing to point out before the story starts: The MC will be retaining knowledge about the world of MHA, as well as remembering their old world, and as such, will try to change some key points (I WILL SAVE THE LITTLE APPLE TART FROM OVERHAUL, POPO BE DAMNED!)

I was originally gonna give the MC 'The Gamer' as a quirk, but after some thought, I figured I'd save a "Gamer reincarnation" story 'til later.

Anyways, I think I've rambled on long enough. So let's get this show on the road!

P.S. An alternate name (or, if you want to be picky, Japanese name) for this story is 私の雨の日は滝に変わります ('Watashi no ame no hi wa taki ni kawarimasu', or 'Watashi no ame' for short)

My Rainy Day Turns into a Waterfall

Prologue: Deep Water

(1st Person POV)

I woke up screaming again.

"DADDY!" I screamed. I knew Daddy was up since he was always up late working in his office.

My door burst open and Daddy rushed to my bedside, swooping me up in a hug as I cried.

"There, there, Chiyo. It was only a nightmare," he said, rubbing circles on my back with his thumb.

"But it was the same nightmare, Daddy," I sobbed. The same nightmare had been haunting me for the past few days now: a man, drowning in a river while saving a little girl. It was honestly sad and scary at the same time.

"The man drowning?" He pulled me away from him long enough to see me nod. "Well, how about looking at it from a different angle?"

I stopped crying long enough to give him a glance of confusion. "What do you mean, Daddy?"

He chuckled a bit as he shifted me so that I was sitting back in my bed. "He saved the little girl. What do you think that means?"

It took me a second to ponder his words until what he said really hit me. My look of confusion turned into a look of joy.

"He was a hero, like Uncle Might!" With those words, I grabbed the All Might plushie that was sitting next to me on my bed and shoved it into Daddy's face. "He saved the little girl because he was there."

"Exactly." He smiled as he grabbed the All Might plush and placed it back at my side, "Heroes put their lives on the line every day to save people. Did he have a smile on his face at the end of the dream?"

I couldn't hide the look of confusion on my face as I gave it some more thought. "I don't know. I was too scared to look."

"Then if you have the dream again, try and see if the man had a smile on his face. If he did, then that means that he did the right thing." He tucked me back into bed. "Now, get some rest. Today is a big day, you know."

I looked over to the calendar on my wall; the last day was circled multiple times and all the other days had an X on them.

'Wait, is today... IT IS!' Immediately, I jumped out of my covers.

"IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!" I squealed, this time with joy and happiness in my voice instead of sadness and fright, "I'm gonna get my quirk today!"

"Yes you are, pumpkin, but it's still dark and we have a big day planned with a special guest stopping by first thing in the morning." He walked over to the door and grabbed the light switch. "Go back to sleep, pumpkin, and save your energy."

I crept back under the covers with some hesitation and yawned. "All right, Daddy. Good night."

Daddy flipped the switch and started to close the door. "Good night, pumpkin," he said as the door finally shut.

I yawned again. 'I wonder who is coming today. Mommy won't be here until later, and Oba-san and Oji-san are staying home this time. So who could it be?' I thought as I drifted off to sleep.

After breakfast, Daddy and I went into the living room to wait for this morning's guest. I was bouncing off the walls with joy and wonder at who the guest would be.

"Daddy," I whined, "Why can't you tell me who the guest is?" I pried, trying to learn more about the surprise.

He chuckled at the question and said, "Because it will ruin the surprise. Now, come sit on the couch and wait patiently."

I pouted for a second before walking over and sitting down on the couch. As soon as I did, however...

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"And there's the guest right there," Daddy announced as he rose from the couch to go answer the door. "You wait here."

"Okay, Daddy."

As he exited the living room, I craned my ear towards the front door, wondering who the guest was when I heard a voice.

"I AM HERE... To provide a certain birthday girl with a present and best wishes!"

I immediately rushed to the front door to see Daddy standing there with the best hero in the whole world...

"UNCLE MIGHT!" I jumped into the tall, blonde-haired man's arms, giving him the biggest hug I could. "What are you doing here? I thought you went back home."

He chuckled, loud and boisterous. "When I heard your mother was making the trip from Japan to here, I decided to tag along so that I could be a part of your special day!" he said. "Your birthday only comes around once a year, and this year is even more special 'cause you could get your quirk today."

Daddy chuckled after that. "Yeah, let me tell you, getting a phone call last night saying that you were coming threw me for a loop."

"Does that mean that you'll be joining us later for the party?" I asked Uncle Might.

"Unfortunately, I cannot. I need to get back home as soon as possible. Lots of villains to stop." My head drooped at the statement.

Uncle Might lifted my chin up.

"However, I do intend to see you open your gift from me before I go," he said before handing me a wrapped gift.

After taking it and carefully taking off the wrapping paper, (It was All Might themed, of course I wanted to keep it.) I found that it was a limited edition All Might plush of him in his young age outfit. I looked at him confused.

"Uncle Might, I already have this plushie," I pointed out.

"Turn it over and look under the cape," he said, and as I did so, I noticed some words sewed on the back of the plush. I handed the plush to Daddy.

"What does it say, Daddy?"

He took the plush and read aloud, "If nightmares get you down, never fear. Because I AM HERE! To Michiyo."

After hearing those words, I rushed Uncle Might with a hug. "THANK YOU, UNCLE MIGHT!"

"You are very welcome, Chiyo-chan," he said before standing up. "Well, I better make my way to the airport; got a long flight back to Japan ahead of me. Happy Birthday, Chiyo-chan! So long, Mitsuzane." And with that, he walked to the driveway, waved goodbye to the two of us, and leaped in the direction of the airport.

"Bye, Uncle Might!"

Daddy turned to me. "Now let's get you ready for today's festivities, young lady," he said, taking my hand and leading me back inside.

"Okay, Daddy!"

The day's festivities involved a pool party at the local YMCA with my friends and family.

Upon arriving, the people at the centre directed us towards one of the conference rooms in the building. Entering, I saw that the room was decorated with all kinds of hero-themed decorations. Mommy, Grandma, and Grandpa were just finishing up when I rushed towards Mommy and gave her a big hug.

"Hello, Oka-san," I greeted in perfect Japanese (well, as perfect as it can get for a four-year-old).

"Ah, there's my little Chiyo-chan. What do you think of the decorations?" she responded, also in Japanese, while picking me up and twirling me around.

Switching back to English, I said, "It would be better if Uncle Might were here, but I'm glad I at least got to see him today. And you're here, Mommy!"

"That I am, my little water bloom," she said, switching to heavily accented English herself. "I didn't want to be away on your birthday, now did I?"

After my friends arrived, we were told that we could go swimming before the food was ready. Daddy had booked the pool for the whole day, meaning we could go swimming at any point.

Once my bathing suit was on, I walked out into the pool area. "Walked" being the key word here.

Ever since I started having the nightmare about the drowning man saving the little girl, I've been more careful around deep pools and stuff. After all, I didn't want to end up like the little girl.

Unfortunately, luck was not on my side. Once everyone came rushing out and jumping into the water, I was jostled and ended up slipping and falling into the deep end of the water.

I'm a really good swimmer; I can swim really well in the shallow end without water wings, but I still need them to swim in the rest of the pool.

Sadly, I didn't have my water wings when I fell into the deep end.

However, two things happened at that moment.

One, the lifeguard on duty immediately jumped into the pool to save me.

And two, I remembered everything about my prior life. About drowning to save that poor girl.

[Day of Death]

It was a nice June day in northeastern Ontario, where my friend Wes and I were staying at a family member's cottage. You could walk down to the river's edge and look across the Ottawa River to see the province of Quebec on the other side.

At this point, we had only been there for a few days. But on that day, we'd decided to go fishing on the river.

The morning started off pretty simple: wake up, clean up, get something to eat, and then take our coffees (or in my case, a homemade Tim Hortons French Vanilla) down to the river's edge and take in nature.

"So, what's the plan for today, Holden?" Wes asked me. He was here as a guest, but he was also my way in and out of here.

Why was he my way in and out of the area? Well, having a variety of disabilities (Asperger's, ADHD, ADD, etc.) meant that while I could've gotten my license later in life, it wasn't something I had when I died.

Oh, before I forget, I might as well explain who Iwas in my past life. My name was Holden Lessard, a 27-year-old video producer and streamer from southeastern Ontario, Canada. Nothing important. Just someone who loved anime and manga as much as the next guy. Hell, it's a little fuzzy in my mind, now that I think about it; if I recall that morning correctly, I had been reading some My Hero Academia fanfiction before Wes woke up. That probably explains how I got here.

Anyway, back to that morning's conversation.

"We haven't gone fishing yet. Why don't we see if the fish are biting this afternoon?" I suggested, knowing from fishing with my step-father that getting the boat and everything else set up would take the rest of the morning.

"Sounds good, buddy." Wes had a smile on his face as he sipped his coffee.

By the time everything was set up and we were ready to go fishing, it was already mid-afternoon.

I know, I know, It doesn't make sense to go fishing in the middle of the afternoon on a hot June day. Honestly thinking back on it, it would seem that the Wheels of Fate were moving even then in an effort to guide me to my new destiny.

We weren't out on the river for very long (to be honest, I don't even think the two of us got that far past the dock) when the two of us heard the laughter of a little girl coming from the next dock over.

Now, I knew from being out there a few times that the neighbours had a granddaughter. On the day I died, she looked about four or five.

From our vantage point we could see that she was jumping up and down on the dock, probably in excitement at the prospect of going fishing with her grandfather.

Now a general rule of thumb when on a dock, or anything narrow and unstable (like a dock): no running. Sure, the wood could be worn and give you good traction so you don't slip and fall, but the opposite could happen just as easily. You could trip on a knot in the wood and fall on your face, or worse, fall into the body of water the dock is on. And let it be known, these docks stick out into some deep water. I mean, this was the Ottawa River, one of the oldest rivers in Canada.

It also looked like the grandfather forgot to put a life jacket on the girl before sending her out on the dock, which was a very big no-no becauseof how old these docks are.

"Dude, let's head over to the neighbour's dock for a second," I said to Wes, who at that point was in control of the boat. "I wanna make sure that little one has a life jacket on bef—"

I never got a chance to finish that sentence because at that point, the little girl landed wrong and slipped, falling into the water below.

At that point, my legs moved on their own; my only thought was saving the little girl that didn't look like she could swim very well. So what did I do?

Immediately I jumped into the water, still wearing my life jacket, although I undid one of the buckles so that I could get it off easier when I got to the girl.

I wasn't the most athletic person in my past life. Sure, I got exercise, but when the only exercise you get is walking around the neighbourhood delivering papers as a side job, it's not a lot. So I knew, going to save this girl, that I was either going to fail or save her at the cost of my own life.

But like the green-haired cinnamon bun in one of my favourite anime (and now world) ever, my body started moving before my mind, and I was swimming as fast as I could to get to her before she got too low in the water.

I was swimming as fast as my body would carry me, but by the time I reached the girl she was no longer flailing like before. I dove under the water, undoing the other buckle on the life jacket and dragging it with me under the water.

At that point, I was tired as hell; I only had one shot at this. Either grab the girl, or miss and she was lost.

I dove deeper and deeper, and by that point my lungs were screaming that it was a lost cause, to simply let her go. But at the last second, I found her. With my last ounce of strength, I wrapped the life jacket around her as best as I could and pushed her toward the surface.

Unfortunately, it was at that point that my lungs began to give outand robbed me of the last breath of air I had.

The last thing I saw before drifting away in the Ottawa River was the little girl surfacing and being pulled into the boat by who I assumed was Wes.

Smiling, my only thought was, 'Wow, I never thought that this would be how I spent the last few minutes of my life; being a hero, like All Might or Deku. I hope she is okay.'

The next thing I knew, I woke up.

And I was drowning again.

And that is the prologue of this story done.
