Hello, everyone. My name is DocRider and welcome to Chapter 1 of 'My Rainy Day Turns into a Waterfall'.

Again, I will point out that I'm not the greatest at writing stories (English wasn't my strongest subject in school), so if there is something that both the editors and I miss, feel free to let us know in the reviews.

About the frequent language swaps, Michiyo's mother is visiting from Japan for her daughter's birthday. As such, she wants to make sure her daughter is able to keep up with her in Japanese. That is the reason for the language swaps.

Special thanks to Pizzaplate for helping me with the beginning part of this story, and helping me understand about the issues the MC will have post-reincarnation.

Now for reviews:

Akurar: Hello and thank you for giving this fic a shot. Hopefully, I can make Michiyo's quirk as awesome as possible.

Argo Devilian: Thank you for the kind words. Now, to answer your question, AM knows Michiyo's father because he's an Ambassador between Canada and Japan. Meaning he talks a lot with AM as a liaison of both governments, especially when AM does overseas work, like he did after Nana died and he inherited OfA. In terms of the water quirk, that will be explained a little bit in this chapter and the next, so I hope it's not too OP.

Shadowjab17: Don't worry about the double post. It happens to the best of us. Ok, onto your questions: In terms of character descriptions, at some point, I'll go back and give character descriptions of Michiyo's parents. But for Michiyo herself, you'll have to read this chapter for a description of her. As for the flashback scene in the prologue, it doesn't really matter for the story. In terms of the "quirk on the 4th birthday vs quirk after 4th birthday" issue, any mention of her certainly getting it on her birthday have been removed. Thanks for the suggestion.

As always, I don't own the world I am using, so a disclaimer is here! My Hero Academia and its characters are all owned by Shueisha, Viz Media, Shonen Jump, Studio Bones, Funimation, and, most important of all, Kohei Horikoshi. All other characters in this story are created by me.

With all that out of the way, on with the story!

My Rainy Day Turns into a Waterfall

Chapter 1: Reincarnation

I was drowning again.

Oh gods, I was drowning again.

I thought once was enough, but apparently the gods hate me for something, so they've decided to drown me again. That must be some form of record.

And then I felt arms pick me up and lift me to the surface. That should have been my first clue that something wasn't right.

Then we surfaced and I gasped for breath.

After a few seconds of heaving for air, I heard screaming and crying, not realizing that the screaming and crying was coming from my mouth. That should have been my second clue.

"Daddy! Daddy!" I heard between sobs. I felt one pair of arms pass me over to another pair and a towel was soon wrapped around my body.

"Oh, Michiyo, are you ok?" a male voice that sounded like Daddy whispered soothingly. I nodded, still traumatized by the fall into the water.

I was pulled into a hug by Daddy. I heard Mommy in the background saying in Japanese, "My little girl is safe… My little girl is safe…"

Footsteps followed after that, and then I was thrown into another hug, this time by Mommy.

"There, there, my little water bloom. Mommy is here," she whispered, calming down now that her child was safe.

I looked up, and while a part of me was confused about who the person in front of me was, the other part was relieved to see that Mommy wasn't crying anymore.

Once I had calmed down and changed back into my regular clothes, I was taken back to the conference room. My friends came in afterwards and apologized a lot for accidentally knocking me into the pool.

'It's weird,' I thought while looking at all the faces surrounding me. 'I know who these people are, but how do I not know who they are at the same time? And why do some of them look weird?'

After we ate and opened presents, the party was cut short. No one wanted to go into the pool after my ordeal, still afraid after what had befallen the birthday girl.

After we got home and my presents were placed in my room, Mommy and Daddy took me into the backyard to play for the rest of the afternoon.

After dinner, I was taking a bath with Mommy when all of a sudden I felt a stinging pain in my hands and feet.

"Mommy, my hands and feet hurt," I said to her, practicing my Japanese while showing her my hands.

A few seconds later, I felt my tummy ache. While I was scrunched up in the tub, I felt Mommy lift me out and set me on the floor.

"What's wrong, Michiyo?" she asked, worried at my pained expression.

"My tummy hurts now," I cried, still cringing from the pain. Just as quickly as it came, the pain was gone. Not only in my hands and feet, but in my tummy as well. "The pain's gone now."

I looked at my hands, finally noticing the dime-sized holes in my palms. I gazed up at Mommy. "Mommy, why are there holes in my hands?" I asked, switching to English.

"I think your quirk came in, my little water bloom. And try to stay in Japanese, please," she replied, smiling.

I started waving my hands, not noticing how the water in the tub followed the movements; it was Mommy who picked up on that.

"Michiyo, look!" Mommy gasped, pointing.

I turned to look and noticed that when I moved my hands, the water moved to follow them. It started flowing towards my hands, or more specifically, towards the holes in my palms.

As it reached my hands, I felt a sucking sensation as the water was sucked through the holes. After a few seconds, I felt "full" and the sucking stopped. After looking at my hands a second time, I noticed the holes closed with an organic seal, similar to a camera aperture. It felt like a door closing in my palms, and I felt that same motion on the soles of my feet.

Mommy gave me a look of understanding. "Well, it looks like we need to go to the quirk doctor tomorrow. But right now, I think it's time for bed. Today was a very harrowing day for you in particular," she said softly as she dressed me in my pajamas.

I yawned. She was right, today was… weird.

"Can you read me a story, Mommy?" I asked sleepily.

"Of course, my little water bloom," she responded as she guided me to my bedroom.

The next day, we went to the quirk doctor; he told me that I had an extra organ in my body that would house the water I collected with the holes in my hands and feet. He called my quirk 'Hydrokinesis,' a word that Daddy said meant I could control water.

When we returned home, I went up to my room to play with my new toys. But as I walked past the mirror in my room, I stopped.

I was a little girl. A little girl of four years old with shoulder-length, chestnut brown hair and royal blue, almond-shaped eyes that held a sense of wonder within them. It was the first time I had actually looked at myself since I drowned in the pool. Or was it the Ottawa River?

I paused and took a good look at my room; there were pastel pink walls with what looked like flower print wallpaper on the lower third of the wall. The bed had beautiful flower print sheets and was littered with plushies. But what stood out the most to me was all the hero stuff. More specifically, the extensive amount of All Might merchandise.

I sat down on the floor, thinking about the past forty-eight hours.

'Okay, first thing's first. Who am I?' I thought, my voice sounding like my normal voice, except more mature. 'Well, that's easy. I'm… I'm… Michiyo? Wait, that isn't right. My name is… I can't remember my old name. Okay, moving on. How old am I? I'm four. Wait, no I'm not. I'm… Great, I can't remember my old age either!'

I felt my face scrunch up in confusion as I recalled the circumstances that led me to this point.

'I remember jumping into the water to save the little girl who fell off the dock. But I also remember being accidentally pushed into the deep end of the pool. Do I have two sets of memories now?'

I looked around my room and at my hands, when the reality of it all finally sank in.

'Holy crap, I'm in the world of My Hero Academia.' I'd had a similar thought in passing earlier, but the full weight of that realization only fully hit me now that I had a quiet moment to process it. 'I think I'm actually staying here… as a little girl… with a water quirk. Wait, what about the little girl whose life I'm in? Did I take her life so that I could live?'

I started silently freaking out at that point. I sat there, wanting to scream for Mommy and Daddy to come and calm me down when I realized it.

'Wait, I'm reacting like a little girl would. Maybe I didn't take over her life, but instead our souls merged. I'm still me, but I am also her now.'

After a few deep breaths, I calmed down. At that point, I felt my heart flutter a little bit.

'I'm a girl. A. GIRL. I was a boy in my last life! Oh, be still, my transgender heart.'

I felt the joy well up in my soul and felt tears in my eyes at the realization that one of my wildest fantasies had finally come true. See, in my old life, I was a closet trans. I always loved reading stories about boys turning into girls. Heck, Ranma was one of my favourite mangas in my old life.

'And I'm four, not older like I was in my previous life.' I didn't know how I knew that when I didn't even know the exact number, but I took that as a sign. A sign that maybe I was getting a second chance at life. That maybe I had a purpose in this world. This world of heroes and villains.

'I'm in the world of MHA, but at what point?' From what I remembered of the little girl's memories—of my memories—All Might himself had shown up just yesterday morning to give me a present. I jumped up and grabbed the same plush that I got that past morning.

I looked at the words and noticed I could read them now. 'Hmm, maybe some of my old skills came over in the reincarnation as well. And it's in English. But I could understand Mommy yesterday when she was speaking Japanese. Does that mean I'm bilingual now? If so, awesome.'

I vaguely remembered what All Might's Young Age suit looked like from the Heroes: Rising movie in my old life, but paired with Michiyo's memories, I surmised that the plush matched that suit.

As I looked around the room, I noticed something interesting.

'There's a lot of his Young Age and Bronze Age suits here, but very little of his Silver Age outfit and absolutely none of his Golden Age suit. That means that this must be before he was hospitalized by his fight with All for One. So I'm before the canon story. Good, it means I can make changes. With my quirk and its potential, I could do some real good in this world. Like saving a little girl from suffering at the hands of a psychotic clean-freak Yakuza boss.'

I looked at the calendar; the date was April 1, 2211.

'Going by fan theories, I'm ten years before canon. Even before the flashback when Bakugo gets his quirk and Izuku is diagnosed Quirkless. Okay, this is good. I now have a time frame to work with.'

But first, I had to go through the first seven years of elementary school again.

(A/N)

And that's chapter one.

I know, I know. Smaller than the prologue. My pacing might be messed up.

Thanks to Jurodan and Raef Darksbane for helping Evil edit this chapter.

Next chapter will have a vague description of school from JK to Grade 5, and then we're heading to Japan and experiencing seven months of homeschooling before the middle school entrance exams, as well as meeting a certain explosive blond Pomeranian and green haired cinnamon bun. Oh, and three years of middle school.

Thank you so much to anyone reading this, and I will see you all when the next chapter is ready.

If you want a place to hangout or talk about the story, you are welcome to come into mine or Evil's Discord servers. Use the code /ffA9xrq to get in to mine. Evil will also be providing a code for his server in the editor note.
