Hello, everyone! My name is DocRider and welcome to Chapter 3 of "My Rainy Day Turns into a Waterfall."
Man, over a thousand views for the first three chapters. Thank you so much for reading this story. It means a lot to me to see this story get so much traffic.
Welp, it's time for Michiyo to insert herself into the canon events of MHA. We'll try to stick as close to canon events as possible, but there will be changes (obviously).
Now for reviews:
Argo Devilian: Hey, you weren't offensive. It's all good. Your comment about the organ makes sense, so I'll probably be a lot bigger when she becomes a pro hero. Considering the Junior Hero thing, Michiyo is a dual citizen to both Japan and Canada, so it could be considered a loophole to the Commission. Plus, the Commission doesn't do the greatest job. In terms of the secret being told to All Might: one, my story, my rules; two, Nezu will be told at some point; and three, this was her best friend before what happened happened, so she really thought that she could keep a secret. With the class size, I already have a plan for that, so don't worry. Grape head is not lasting long. With Eri and Overhaul, again, plans are in place. Let's just say that Overhaul will get close and will just miss. UA might become a small battlefield in the future. Plus, I have a fun little omake planned with Eri and All Might that takes place post-Izu getting OfA, so that will probably be a chapter 3.5.
As always, I don't own the world I am using, so a disclaimer is here! My Hero Academia and its characters are all owned by Shueisha, Viz Media, Shonen Jump, Studio Bones, Funimation, and, most important of all, Kohei Horikoshi. All other characters in this story are created by me.
And like the last chapter, there is a trigger warning: suicide baiting. Like I said, canon events will still happen, just not in the way they are normally. You'll see when you read.
That's it from me! On with the story!

My Rainy Day Turns into a Waterfall
Chapter 3: Bullies, Training, and Saving Lives
The first day of the third year of middle school was interesting for a few reasons. One, it was the start of the story of My Hero Academia. And two, I wasn't there to experience it first-hand, or more specifically, I wasn't in the same room when the events unfolded.
Ever since we started at Aldera Junior High, Katsuki, Izuku, and I were always in the same class, which led to some… friendly, but interesting arguments between Katsuki and I that almost always led to something school related either getting blown up or sliced in half with a water blade.
During the break between second and third years, however, I received a letter from school stating that I was gonna be swapped with a member of the other third year class, which was fine provided that I wasn't getting swapped with Izuku's prime bully.
As it turned out, by setting Katsuki straight before middle school even started, he wasn't Izuku's prime bully. Honestly, I think the real reason he picked on Izuku in canon was because Izuku didn't put effort into training for U.A. I felt that if he had trained and stood up to Katsuki, maybe there wouldn't've been this rift between the two of them in canon.
No, Izuku's prime bully, a mean boy by the name of Hatsuhara Ryouji, was worse. He didn't care about whether Izuku would get back up or not. No, all he cared about was being famous through hero work. And his quirk, Rocket Launcher, would be perfect for it, but he never trained it, and didn't care who he hit with it.
He liked to wait for when Izuku was without Katsuki or myself to harass him. That resulted with him being moved to the other class of our year group within a week of starting middle school.
As I continued to read the letter, my stomach dropped. I was swapping with Hatsuhara. The teachers must've liked torturing Izuku because of his quirklessness.
Oh yeah, that hadn't changed. The teachers only cared about strong, powerful quirks. When Izuku was harassed, they would turn a blind eye. Usually, it would be Katsuki and I who stopped the harassment.
While I was reading the letter, something dawned on me.
'It seems the teachers are getting bolder. They don't want Izu going to hero school. I doubt they want him to live at all. That's why they swapped me with Hatsuhara. Wait… fan theories stated that some of the teachers and even the principal could be members of the Meta Liberation Army. If that's the case here, then they want Izu gone. A quirkless kid going to hero school? Not good for the MLA's image.'
Once I finished reading the letter, I sat back in my chair.
'Well, let's see if those fan theories are true.'
The day started off normal enough: I woke up, got ready for school, ate breakfast, and met Izuku and Katsuki on the way to school. They were panting as they reached me.
"Why are you panting? Why were you RUNNING?"
Katsuki was the first to respond. "Because we heard about a villain attack this morning and Deku wanted to watch it."
"Yeah, Kamui Woods showed up to take out the villain, but before he could, a new hero named Mt. Lady showed up. Her quirk is so cool…" After that, Izuku started his mumbling about quirks.
I giggled while Katsuki sighed. Even with all the training we received in the past two years since I arrived in Japan, we still weren't completely able to quash Izuku's mumbling. He had just started to mumble faster so that no one could understand him, so it worked out in the end.
I poked Izuku in the head, snapping him out of his mumble-fest. "We need to get to school."
"Right."
As we started on our trek to the school, there was a bit of worry on my face.
Katsuki noticed my look of worry. "Hey, Chiyo, what's with the long face?" Yes, Katsuki had mellowed out since our fight during the summer that I moved here.
"Well, I got a letter over break stating that I was switching classes with Hatsuhara. I have a bad feeling something is gonna happen today."
"WHAT? WHY WOULD THEY SWITCH YOU WITH THE KNOCKOFF?" It turned out that Katsuki was very protective of his friends.
"I have no idea. Hey, Izu, I have an idea for catching Hatsuhara in the act of harming you."
"Oh?" Izuku was trailing behind us, but after hearing that I had a plan for dealing with him (as well as the Aldera Junior High staff), he perked up.
I pulled him and Katsuki close.
"I think you should start recording audio just before the end of class."
I paused, thinking about something else that might happen.
"Actually, you should record homeroom, too. Maybe Hatsuhara will slip up and say something that could end up ruining his hero chances."
Katsuki whistled. "Damn, Sprinkler System, that's actually a good idea. Hell, I'll record audio too, just in case Deku's phone gets broken."
I nodded. "Good idea, having two pieces of damning evidence is better than one."
I looked up and noticed we had reached the school gates.
'All right, let the story of MHA commence.'
We stopped at the 3-A classroom first and, looking into the classroom, noticed Hatsuhara sitting in my old seat.
The two of us locked eyes and he gave me a smug grin that said, "I win, loser." I rolled my eyes before looking away and starting towards my new classroom.
It was weird not starting the school year in the same class as Katsuki and Izuku, but I knew that today would be very interesting.
My new desk was near the wall that separated the two classes, so I would easily be able to hear Katsuki's yelling from here.
After the teacher explained about the student swap between classes and I took my seat, I waited, drowning out the teacher's words and listening for Katsuki's loud voice.
And sure enough, it happened. Albeit somewhat different than canon.
(Katsuki's POV)
"HEY, TEACH! DON'T LUMP DEKU OR MYSELF IN WITH THESE EXTRAS!" I chuckled. "NOT TO MENTION CHIYO, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS MOVED TO THE OTHER CLASS!"
Some of the extras booed at me. "No fair, Katsuki."
"Yeah, get over yourself."
Some of them jeered at Deku. "There's no way Midoriya is getting in."
"Midoriya? No way."
But there was one in particular that got up in Deku's face. Knockoff stood up, walked over to Deku's desk and grabbed him by the collar.
"Seriously, you? Getting into U.A.? Without a quirk? Puh-lease. Bakugo, I can see. Myself, obviously. But you? You're destined to die in a ditch somewhere like the piece of quirkless trash you are."
At that comment, I lunged at him, explosions popping on my hands, and shoved him away from Deku.
"Leave him alone, ya shithead."
"Bakugo!" the teacher yelled. "You know fighting is against the rules."
"Whatever." I returned to my seat, but not before making sure Knockoff returned to his as well.
'They'll see. Me, Chiyo, and Deku will become the greatest hero trio ever. Deku will become the first quirkless hero ever. It'll be awesome.'
I glanced down at my phone to see if it was still recording audio of the conversation. Once I saw the red circle blinking, I smiled. 'Gotcha!'
(Izuku's POV)
After classes were over for the day, I checked my phone for news about this morning's attack, but not before hitting the record button on my phone's audio recording app.
"Hey, Deku!" I looked up from my phone. It was Kacchan. "Wanna go to the arcade?"
I shook my head. "Sorry, but I'm gonna need all the training I can get if I'm gonna pass the U.A. Entrance Exam."
He shrugged. "You heading to the dojo, or are you heading somewhere else?"
"I'll probably head somewhere secluded to train."
"All right, let me know if you want a sparring partner later." He waved as he walked out the door.
"Ok." I started packing my 'Hero Analysis for the Future No. 13' into my bag when it was snatched from my hand by Hatsuhara.
He jeered at it. "'Hero Analysis for the Future'? You're serious about entering U.A?"
I reached for my notebook, only to be grabbed by my collar by Hatsuhara's other hand.
"Let me make this real clear for you. You'll never make it into U.A. You'll probably fail the practical exam. And no amount of Hero Analysis is gonna help you. So let's get rid of this, shall we?" He flung my notebook out the window.
I stared at him with a look of pure determination.
"I don't care what you think! I'm taking the U.A. Entrance Exam. And I'm gonna be a hero." I pulled myself out of his grasp and headed for the door. His parting words stung a little.
"You know if you want to be a hero so badly, why don't you take a swan dive off the roof and see if you get a better quirk in the next life?"
As I walked out of the classroom door, I pulled my phone back out and checked to see if the whole conversation was recorded. Sure enough, it was.
'Checkmate.'
I was so busy checking my phone that I almost walked into Chiyo on my way out.
"Watch out, Deku," she said before catching both of us before we fell.
"Oh, sorry, Chiyo. Just making sure our plan worked."
She gave me a smile. "And did it?"
I grinned back as I held up my phone to show the recording. "Yup. But I have to hurry. Hatsuhara threw my notebook out the window, and I think it landed in the koi pond."
"Damn Hatsuhara. Hey, what are you doing after you retrieve your notebook? I'm heading to the dojo to train."
I shrugged. "Probably head home and begin a new notebook to replace the damaged one."
She gave me a small look of... disappointment? Regret? It was hard to tell with Michiyo Shimizu. "Okay. Text me when you get home, please? I don't want to turn on the news to see you dead."
I laughed. "All right, I'll make sure to give you a call when I get home."
After I retrieved my notebook from the koi pond and dried it off as best as I could, I started home, taking a different route home to avoid being jumped by Hatsuhara.
As I entered a tunnel, I thought back about my life so far. My love of All Might, being diagnosed as quirkless, Kacchan bullying me throughout grade school, meeting Michiyo and making up with Kacchan, and the last two years of middle school and training. It was like I finally got my life on track so I could become a hero.
And then I felt something slimy enter my vision.
"Ooh, a medium-sized invisibility cloak. Yes, you'll do nicely."
I started panicking. 'A VILLAIN?'
I was struggling against this sludge villain, but to no avail. I couldn't say anything as the slime villain had my mouth blocked with his sludge. I dropped my notebook.
'No, not now. Please! Someone help me!'
In my panicked state, I almost missed the manhole cover nearby shoot up and the fist rising out of it.
"FEAR NOT, KID!"
My heart skipped a beat at the voice.
'Is it really him? Oh, to any and all gods out there, please tell me HE came to save me!'
I watched the tall, muscular form of All Might rise from the sewer.
"I AM HERE!"
He pulled back his arm, and I braced for impact as best as I could while being suffocated by a slime being.
"TEXAS… SMASH!"
All I could feel at that moment was the rush of air as the slime villain was ripped from my mouth and from around my body in an instant.
If it wasn't for my training with Michiyo for the past two years, I probably would've passed out from fighting, but all I did was stumble backwards towards the wall, slump down against the wall, catching my breath.
I watched as All Might dumped the soda from the bottles in the grocery bag he had with him, scooped up the slime villain, and deposited him into the bottles before shoving them into his pants pockets.
And then he walked over to me, his wide grin on his face.
(All Might/Toshinori Yagi's POV)
As I walked over to the young man I had just saved, I noticed the open notebook on the ground. Taking a peek, I noticed that this young man did analysis of various heroes.
'Hmm, depending on his quirk, if he doesn't go into heroics, at least he could do a fairly good job as an analyst. If he enters the U.A. Entrance Exam, I'll point him out to Nezu.'
I reached into my pocket and pulled out a pen, flipped to an unused set of pages, and signed it for him.
"Young man, are you OK? Apologies for getting you caught up in my villain hunt. Mistakes like that aren't my style, but this is a strange land to me. And besides, I'm off camera!"
I displayed the bottles containing the villain at him.
"But my success today is all thanks to you! I'VE CONTAINED THE VILLAIN! Here! As a thank you for helping me capture the villain."
I handed his notebook back to him and gestured for him to open it.
I have never seen someone bow quite as fast as this young man did, but there's a first time for everything.
"Thank you so much! This will be a family heirloom!"
I nodded, not surprised by the words.
"Well, I must be off. I have to take this fellow to the authorities!"
"Wait, I have a qu—"
"Sorry, but Pro Heroes not only battle enemies, but also time."
I prepared to jump.
"Until next time…"
I jumped.
"THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!"
As I was flying through the air, I looked down and noticed that the young man had latched on.
"HEY, NOW! Release me! Such enthusiasm is a bit much!"
"If I let go now, I'll fall and die!"
"Good point! Do me a favor and close your eyes and mouth! I'll find a roof to land on." I started looking for a roof to land on nearby. I noticed some blood escaping my mouth, telling me that my time limit for muscled form was nearly up.
'Damn! I'm running out of time!'
Once we landed, I extracted my passenger from my leg and walked towards the edge of the roof.
'Of all the fans! Hopefully the people downstairs will help us down. But I've run out of time!'
I leaned on the railing, annoyed that I was both out of time and had a fan behind me.
"Please wait."
"NO! I will not wait."
"Can I still be a hero without a quirk?"
Now that took me by surprise, and made me think for a second. But a second was all it took.
Steam started rising off of me, signifying that my time had run out.
'Damn it all…'
The kid continued, not noticing my transformation into my emaciated form.
"Ever since I was told I was quirkless, I was picked on. But maybe that's why I think saving people is the coolest thing someone can do. The way you save people with that fearless smile! I want to be the strongest hero, just like y—"
He finally looked up and noticed my emaciated form.
"WHAT? Who are you? A fake? An imposter?"
Blood fell from my mouth as I spoke.
"I am All Might."
"How?"
The flabbergasted look on his face didn't hide the curiosity hidden underneath at all.
"You know how people hold in their gut at the pool? It's like that."
I sat down with my back to the railing. His words struck a chord with me. I just didn't know to what extent.
"A fearless smile, huh… You've seen the real me, kid. But don't write about it on the internet, okay?"
I pulled up my shirt, showing off the injury from the fight I had with All For One. The look of horror on his face told stories.
"Five years ago, an enemy did this to me. My respiratory system was destroyed and my stomach had to be removed. I've been wasting away due to the after-effects of those surgeries. I can only do hero work for about three hours a day now."
He was visibly shaking at my story.
"Five years ago? Was that when you fought Toxic Chainsaw?"
"You've done your homework. But no, he could never do this to me. This fight was never made public, because I asked for it to not be made public. A Symbol of Peace who saves people with a smile must never be daunted by evil. The reason I smile is to stave off the overwhelming pressure and fear that I feel. A Pro should always be ready to risk his life."
I paused as I dropped my shirt and slowly pulled myself to my admittedly shaky feet. Once I was up, I looked the young man in the face and sighed.
"Without power, can one become a hero? No, I should think not. If you desire to help people, becoming a police officer is always an option. Those villain custody officials are mocked, but that too is admirable work."
I walked to the door leading into the building.
"It's not wrong to dream; however, you need to be realistic, kid."
As I walked down the stairs, I got a call from Chiyo.
"Hey, Uncle Toshi. Got a question for you?"
"Oh, what is it?"
"Do you remember that friend I told you about? Midoriya?"
After the conversation with the kid on the roof, I was caught a little off guard.
"Refresh my memory. I just finished having a conversation with a fan I saved about being a hero without a quirk."
There was silence on the other end. And then my phone exploded.
"Uncle Toshi, my friend is quirkless, remember? The green-haired one?"
I had reached the bottom of the building and was on my way to the nearest police station when I stopped.
'Green-haired friend who's quirkless? Just like the young man who you…'
I could hear Gran Torino yelling in my head. "Toshinori, you idiot."
"Uncle Toshi?"
"Chiyo, your friend wouldn't happen to be wearing a black school uniform, would he?"
"Yes, why—"
Her voice was drowned out by an explosion in the distance.
(Michiyo's POV)
After that explosion, I realized that Uncle Toshi had just finished his conversation with Izuku, and that Katsuki was now in the midst of being attacked by the sludge villain.
I heard Uncle Toshi on the other end of the line.
"Um, Michiyo, can we have this conversation later?"
"Um, sure. I d—"
I never got to finish that sentence before the line went dead.
'And there he goes. Welp, time to see Izu prove to Uncle Toshi why he's the perfect successor for him.'
I was relatively far from the battle, so I got there just as Izuku rushed forwards to save Katsuki.
Not going to lie, seeing the sludge villain in real life was both cool and gross at the same time. But I think the best part of this experience was watching Izuku try and save Katsuki with the most determined look on his face.
I scanned the crowd looking for Uncle Toshi before locking eyes with him.
His eyes told me that he was worried about my friend, but was also surprised by him as he rushed forward to save his friend. Then they sparkled as if to ask, "Is he the one?"
I subtly nodded and then he looked back towards the events unfolding.
Seeing Uncle Toshi buff up was a strange thing, kind of like Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk.
He rushed forward, grabbed Izuku's arm with one hand and pulled back the other for a Smash. I was probably one of the only people who heard what he said, probably because I already knew what he was gonna say.
"The lesson I left you with… I should practice what I preach! A Pro should always be ready to risk his life! DETROIT…"
I braced myself. This was gonna be a doozy.
"SMASH!"
This was my first time experiencing one of Uncle Toshi's Smash Attacks, and it was amazing. It was so powerful that I almost put up a shield with my quirk. Like in canon, there was so much force behind the blow that it changed the weather.
As Katsuki and Izuku were let down, I rushed from the crowd over to them.
"Kat, Izu, are you guys okay?"
Katsuki just grinned. "If it wasn't for Deku and All Might, I probably would've been toast."
I stood back to let the paramedics look them over and walked over to Uncle Toshi.
"Thank you for saving my friends, Uncle Might."
"You're welcome, Chiyo. I was surprised by your green-haired friend's determination and drive."
"I know he's gonna become a great Hero someday."
I looked over to the boys to see Izuku getting harassed by Death Arms while Katsuki was getting praised by other heroes. I rushed over, Uncle Toshi following behind.
"Hey, he saved our friend's life while you guys were just standing there."
Death Arms gave me an angry look.
"It was a dangerous situation he ran into. And we couldn't do anything at that point."
"There were tons you could've done. And that's not all. Look," I gestured to Izuku and then to Katsuki. "The savior is getting berated while the victim is getting praised. What's wrong here?"
Uncle Toshi walked over.
"She's got a point, Death Arms."
I grabbed both of the boys' arms and dragged them off.
After we got closer to our homes, I hugged Izuku first and then Katsuki and then snatched them both up in a group hug.
"Oh, I'm glad you guys are okay."
Katsuki pulled away.
"Yeah, yeah. So what's the plan now? It's getting late."
I smiled. "Why don't we head back to my place and celebrate Kat getting saved?"
I never got a response from either of them, because all of a sudden, Uncle Toshi, in his muscled form, showed up in front of us, freaking us out a little.
"I AM HERE!"
"Uncle Might, what's the meaning of this?" I asked, knowing what was happening now.
"Well, I was hoping to talk to your young green-haired friend in private."
I shook my head. "Nope, not this time. Whatever you can say, you can say to all three of us." At that, I grabbed Katsuki and Izuku and wrapped my arms around their necks.
"But Michi— urk"
We watched as blood spewed from his mouth and he transformed back into his True Form. Katsuki freaked out.
"HOLY SHIT, ALL MIGHT JUST GOT SKINNY! IT'S AN IMPOSTER! DIE, IMPOSTER!"
I made a water chain and handcuffed Katsuki to me, tightly. "Kat, that is All Might."
He turned to me, a look of rage in his eyes. "PROVE IT!"
"Promise me you won't spread any of what we're about to tell you on the internet," I insisted. I knew Katsuki wouldn't tell secrets, but this secret was too big to take for granted.
"OF COURSE, JUST TELL ME!"
I sighed and turned to Uncle Toshi. He lifted his shirt and I explained about his injury, using the same story that Uncle Toshi used with Izuku.
Both the boys were surprised that I knew Uncle Toshi's secret.
"How?" Izuku asked, "How did you know?"
"He showed up at the airport the day that I arrived in Japan in this form. I knew it was him, so I asked what happened. He told me and my mom the whole story when we got home."
I turned back to him. "Now why are you here?"
"Right, well, first off, I'd like to apologize about my earlier words on the roof."
'So all that still happened here. Good.'
"Without you… If I hadn't heard your story, I'd have been nothing but fake muscles and insincerity. So thank you."
"But I got in the way. I made your time run out. I dared to—" Izuku had tears threatening to fall down his face at this point.
"But that's my point. Of all the people at the scene, it was only YOU, timid and quirkless, who acted! You spurred me into action!"
Uncle Toshi's eyes took on an appraising look as he stared at Izuku. "Most of the top Heroes show signs of greatness even as children. Many of them claimed that their bodies moved before they could think. That's what happened to you back there, yes?"
I could feel tears falling down my own face as I knew what words All Might was about to tell Izuku, words that he should've heard from Aunt Inko's mouth all those years ago.
"You CAN be a hero."
Izuku was on his knees at this point, bawling his eyes out. Katsuki walked up and punched Izuku on the shoulder, happy that his friend was getting recognized by a Pro Hero.
Uncle Toshi spread his arms out wide and smiled down at Izuku. "I think you're worthy of inheriting my power!"
Both Izuku and Katsuki gave Uncle Toshi a look of confusion.
"Hey, what are those looks for? I'm being serious here! Listen, my boy. I'm asking you if you want to try accepting my power!"
As he said that last sentence, blood came gushing out of his mouth.
Uncle Toshi continued. "This concerns my quirk, kid. The tabloids like to guess that it's 'Super Strength' or 'Boost Power.' And I avoid the question in interviews by making jokes. Because All Might, the "Symbol of Peace" has to come off as a natural-born hero. But my quirk… It was passed down to me. Like the Olympic Torch."
The boys stared at him for a second before Katsuki started laughing his ass off.
"YEAH, RIGHT! LIKE QUIRKS CAN BE PASSED DOWN IN A WAY OTHER THAN INHERITING YOUR PARENTS!"
I punched him in the arm, cutting off his laughter. "You idiot, it totally could be possible. We have quirks that can copy other quirks, so it's entirely plausible that there could be a quirk that could be passed down through other means."
Izuku was staring at Uncle Toshi, dumbfounded by the latter's words. "Passed… down to you…? Really?"
Uncle Toshi nodded. "Yes. And now it may be your turn."
That started Izuku into another mumble-fest, this time about the revelation about Uncle Toshi's quirk, I assumed.
I poked him on his head to snap him out of it. "Hey, Uncle Toshi doesn't lie, even if he has many secrets."
"Michiyo is right. I have many secrets, but I never lie!"
He held out his hand, and the three of us saw an ethereal glow start to shine from his hand. The glow of One for All.
"I have the ability to transfer power… That's the quirk I inherited! It is called ONE FOR ALL!"
Izuku's mouth dropped in awe at the sight, while Katsuki grinned, a look of mixed surprise and joy appearing in his eyes.
"One… for All…" Izuku murmured.
As Uncle Toshi continued, the glow faded, but as I looked into his eyes, I could see the chain of power that represented One for All in the anime shine through, showing multiple colours passing One for All between them, from a blinding white of the First User, rushing all the way to the bright yellow that represented All Might.
"The first person cultivates the power, and then passes it to another. The next refines it and passes it one again. In this way, those crying out to be saved and those with brave and true hearts link to form a crystalline network of power!"
"But, why me…?" Izuku looked to still be in awe, eyes as wide as dinner plates. Honestly, I was too, seeing the shine of One for All first hand. It was incredible.
"I've been searching for a successor for a while now, and I believe that you are worthy. You may be quirkless, a mere hero admirer, nut back there, you were more heroic than anyone else!"
I could see tears forming on Izuku's face before Katsuki walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Why're you crying, Deku? Isn't this what you wanted? Honestly, if All Might wants to give you his quirk, you should be honored! Hell, I'd jump at the opportunity if it was offered to me."
I piped up. "Yeah, I couldn't think of anyone better to take Uncle Might's quirk."
"But of course, it depends on you! What do you say?" Uncle Toshi asked.
Izuku rubbed the forming tears out of his eyes, and as he looked at Uncle Toshi, the look of pure determination shone through.
"Yes, I accept."
"Excellent! I expected nothing less." He turned to Katsuki and myself. "Can I ask you two some requests?"
Katsuki and I nodded.
"First, you must never tell anyone about what happened here. And second, I ask for your help in training your friend. I might also be able to help you two train as well over the next ten months before the U.A. Entrance Exam."
I nodded. Katsuki, on the other hand…
"HELPING MY FRIEND GET A QUIRK AND GETTING TRAINING FROM ALL MIGHT AS A BONUS? HELL YEAH, I'M IN." I almost had to put him in a bubble to quiet him before he shushed after saying that.
"Excellent." Uncle Toshi pulled out his phone and turned to Izuku and Katsuki, "I'm going to give you two my number. I'd recommend changing the contact name to something inconspicuous. I'm going to text you over the next few days about where and what the training is."
The three of us nodded.
And so began ten months of torture—uh, I meant training. Like in canon, Uncle Toshi decided to use Takoba Beach as the training ground. Izuku and Katsuki were confused as to why we were using this dump of a beach as a training ground, so Uncle Toshi replied with the fact that community service is also a part of hero work.
"The young heroes today only want fame and glory. But being a hero is all about volunteer work, no matter how unglamourous! Never forget that."
He then pulled out three plans, one for each of us, detailing schedules (that went as far as labelling sleep times), meal plans, and training regimens to help us get a little bit stronger before the Entrance Exam.
A lot of the training montage happened like it did in canon. Wake up early, get a run in before class, training afterwards, back home to eat, get to bed early.
Once school got out for the summer, it was changed so that school hours were used as training hours. Usually, we had either Saturday or Sunday off to take a break from training. It was a godsend.
There were three events that happened during this summer break. And these events gave me the opportunity to change canon in ways that hopefully didn't lead to too much pain further down the line.
A few days after summer break had started, I was walking home after finishing a run. I had decided to keep an ear out near alleys for people in trouble.
I was passing one such alley when I heard crying. I started walking towards it.
'All right, this could be anything: for one, it could be someone who had a loved one die right in front of them; or it could be a certain vampire in a dirty school uniform wanting blood for her quirk.'
As it turned out, it was the latter. Not that far into the alley, I found Himiko Toga lying on some garbage, bawling her eyes out.
I rushed over and placed my arms around her.
"Hey, you okay?"
It wasn't the smartest plan, but something had to be done.
She jumped and had a scared look on her face. She started to pull out of my grasp.
"NO! Get away from me! I'm a monster!"
I giggled, which took her by surprise.
"You don't look like a monster to me. Why do you think you're one?"
Her eyes had a mixed look of both fear and surprise. Her crying stopped, at least.
"Because of my quirk. People tell me it's a villainous quirk."
I giggled again. "Ya know, my friend told me that quirks can't be called villainous, or heroic for that matter. It all depends on the user."
She sniffed. "But my quirk needs blood to work."
"So does the Blood Hero: Vlad King. Never stopped him before."
I paused, thinking about what was happening, or rather, what wasn't happening. Usually, Toga would be at a stranger's throat just so she could see them bleed, but here it was like she was normal.
"Wait, do you depend on blood to stay sane?"
She hesitated before nodding.
"Do you need some now?"
She nodded again.
I pulled out my pocket knife from my bag and said, "I can help you, but only if you want it."
She gave me a curious look.
"Why are you helping me? Most people just shun me cause I'm dangerous."
I smiled, taking a page out of Izuku's book.
"You looked like you needed saving, as well as a friend. Plus, I think you need someone to show you that it's not the quirk that makes the hero or villain; it's the person."
She glanced at the knife, then back at me, then back at the knife before slowly nodding.
"Just a little."
I placed the blade of the knife on my forearm. I took a few deep breaths before running the blade across my forearm. Blood started to flow from the wound. Instantly, her mouth was around my wound, lapping up the blood. Her tongue was rough, like a cat's, giving credence to the theories that she has part of a cat's quirk as well as her usual one.
As I started getting light-headed from the loss of blood, she pulled away from the wound as it actually started to close before my eyes.
'So the theories were right. She does have a slight healing factor to her quirk. Interesting. Izu's gonna have a field day with this.'
As I looked into her eyes, I could see the last vestiges of her feral nature fade away. We stared at each other for a second before we started laughing.
I reached out my hand. "Sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I'm Shimizu Michiyo. Pleasure to meet you."
"Toga Himiko, but call me Himiko. I hate my last name because of the problems it brings me."
"Only if you call me Michiyo or Chiyo. What do you mean by problems?" I asked.
"Well, my parents want me to be 'normal', but I need blood to be 'normal,' which is considered 'abnormal' in their eyes. I've tried to tell them that, but they don't listen. They've even tried beating the 'abnormal' out of me."
'OK, abusive parents? Check. No Quirk Counseling? Check. Quirk Discrimination? Check. Yeah, I'm keeping her.'
I grabbed her hand and pulled her up to her feet. I grabbed my bag and started dragging her in the direction of home.
Himiko was confused. "Um, Chiyo, where are we going?"
"I'm taking you home to get food, a shower, and hopefully, somewhere to stay while we drive your parents' livelihood to the ground. No one should abuse their children just because they are different."
I didn't know if it was my original personality or Michiyo's that was more dominant in this situation. Considering the situation, it was probably both.
She had tears threatening to fall from her eyes, presumably from joy that someone wanted her to be their friend and help her get better.
We were about ten minutes away from home, so I dragged Himiko back.
As we walked through the front door, Mom greeted us.
"Michiyo, who's your friend?"
"Hi, Mom. Sorry, Mom. I kinda got sidetracked on the way home, but I had a good reason. This is Himiko Toga. Can we go into the living room? We have something to ask you."
"Of course." She gestured to the living room and we all filed in and sat down, Himiko and I on the couch and Mom on the nearby chair.
Mom started. "OK, Michiyo, what's this about?"
"Mom, Himiko has been abused by her parents because of her quirk."
She turned to Himiko. "And what is your quirk, dear?"
Surprisingly, Himiko jumped at the question and started to shy away from it, trying to shrink into the couch before I placed a hand on her shoulder and nodded. She drew a deep breath before answering.
"My quirk is called Transform. I ingest blood from people and then use that blood to transform into them."
Mom nodded, seemingly understanding the situation.
"I see, and let me guess, you have a blood dependency?"
I grabbed Himiko's hand, telling her that I was here for support. She nodded at Mom.
I spoke up.
"I don't want her going back to abusive parents. Can she stay here for the time being? I can help her with the blood issues, and I'm sure Izu and Kat will help once they hear her story." We definitely had the room. We had multiple rooms in the house for when relatives came to stay, so we had no issues housing Himiko for the time being.
Mom smiled. "Of course she can stay."
Himiko's scared look twisted into one of pure joy, elated that she had people who didn't think her quirk was villainous.
"Oh thank you so much."
"You're welcome." Mom gave her a once-over. "Hmm, you look close to Michiyo in size. Why don't you go take a shower and I'll wash your school clothes. Michiyo can lend you some of her clothes until we go shopping to get you some."
After I showed Himiko to the bathroom and showed her what products she could use, I returned to the living room. Mom was still in the chair, thinking.
"Hey, Mom?"
She looked up. "Yes, what is it, Michiyo?"
"I think we should get Uncle Toshi involved."
"Why do you say that?"
"Well, doesn't he have that police officer friend with the lie detector quirk? Maybe they could help us with dealing with Himiko's parents."
She placed her hand on her chin, thinking about something.
I piped up. "What about Izu's birthday? Uncle Toshi has already told me that he plans to give Izu One for All on that day as a birthday present." Uncle Toshi had told Mom about One for All the day after he picked me up from the airport. She freaked out at first, but once we sat her down and implored the importance of keeping the secret, she promised to keep it.
"You should ask your pseudo-uncle first about whether Himiko should know his secret before making that plan."
I nodded. "I planned on doing that after this conversation."
"And what about her schooling?"
Crap, I hadn't thought about that.
"Could you teach her the content that she missed this year and then she could enroll with Izu, Kat and I at Aldera after break?" I pleaded.
She gave me an inquisitive look. "Why are you doing this, Michiyo?"
"She's had a rough childhood, and honestly, I already have a pseudo-uncle. Why not an adopted sister? Plus, if she was to go into foster care, who knows how she would be treated with her quirk." I knew that I had sound logic. Plus, in my previous life, I had gone through the foster care system, so I knew how it worked.
She sighed, signifying I had won. "Fine. Go get some clothes for Himiko to put on, then go and call Toshi. Maybe he'll come over this afternoon and do it now."
I grinned a wide grin, happy at the fact that not only had I gotten a sister, but I had saved a well-liked character from taking the bad route as well.
Izuku and Katsuki took to Himiko like bears to honey, especially after hearing her story. Izuku was intrigued about her quirk, citing all the ways that the quirk could be used for hero work.
Uncle Toshi agreed with my logic that if Himiko was to be a part of this family, she would need to know his secret, on the off chance that he either needed to buff up while he was here, or if he needed a safe place to deflate if his time was short. He made her promise to never tell another soul. She was also told that Izuku was intended to be the successor to One for All. She was happy about that, after hearing about Izuku's quirklessness and the events of the sludge villain incident.
He also agreed to ask Detective Naomasa to come by sometime after Izuku's birthday party to help with Himiko's problem.
I told him that he should invite his old homeroom teacher and mentor, Gran Torino, to come to the party, mainly so that he could meet the newest holder of One for All and help train Izuku before the Entrance Exam. Uncle Toshi paled at that suggestion, but when I explained that he'd get more flak later from Gran for not telling him about Izuku sooner, he relented and called his old mentor, inviting him to the party.
I considered asking him to invite his old sidekick, Sir Nighteye, to the party, but I decided not to, on the grounds of him being against Izuku taking on the role of All Might's successor over his choice of Mirio. I figured that if I ran into Eri early and managed to get her away from the Shie Hassaikai, Nighteye would be called due to his investigation into that organization.
Lastly, I considered having Uncle Toshi invite the principal of U.A., Nezu, to the party, so that he could see Izuku's hero notebooks and my coded 'canon timeline' notebooks, but opted against that seeing as Nezu would most likely see Izuku with one of his hero notebooks at some point after getting into U.A. As for him seeing my coded notebooks, I decided to wait until something significant that altered the timeline and involved U.A. came up.
On the day of Izuku's birthday, Uncle Toshi decided to give all four of us (Himiko was given her own training schedule) the day off. The beach wasn't clean yet, even though Izuku was strong enough to clear the beach even without One for All. I told them to go slow with the beach cleaning, just in case something happened and a hiding place was needed. So the four of us decided to go to the arcade for a little bit.
We had to plan a cover story in case people asked why All Might was showing up at my house in Muscled Form. (It wasn't surprising that people ignored him when he showed up in his True Form, as they never made the correlation between Toshinori Yagi and All Might.)
So we decided that Izuku would 'win' a birthday visit from All Might himself. This also ensured that if any other heroes needed to arrive, we could just write it off as All Might asking his colleagues to come meet this hero fanatic.
Passing an alleyway, I heard crying. I immediately motioned to the others to huddle up.
"Chiyo, what's up?" Katsuki asked.
"I hear crying coming from the alley. Sounds like a little girl…" 'Oh no, please tell me this isn't happening today. I wasn't prepared for this.' I started panicking a little, hoping that we weren't doing this today, of all days.
Izuku grabbed my shoulder. "Calm down," he whispered. "Let's go see if they're okay first."
I nodded and we broke the huddle. I leaned over to Himiko and whispered, "Stay in the shadows in case we need you to knock someone out. Keep an eye out for any individuals with plague doctor masks. If they are in a group, let us know. If it's one, knock them out before they see us."
Just like in canon, Himiko could disappear into the shadows and you wouldn't even know she was there. She nodded and seemingly vanished in front of me. After she slipped into the shadows, I used my water to create a second skin, an ability I had learned with Izuku's help. I figured that if Eri was close, then Overhaul wouldn't be far behind.
'Maybe we can get her out of there before Overhaul finds us.'
I lead Izuku and Katsuki into the alleyway, scanning for a little girl. I sent some tendrils of water into some potential hiding spots when I spotted a little light blue-haired girl with an off-center horn growing from her forehead hiding as best as she could amongst the trash.
'Eri.'
I rushed over to her. "Hey, are you okay?"
Immediately, she jumped into my arms and said, "Save me! Save me from Overhaul!"
I nodded to the boys, signifying that we found our target and we rushed out of the alleyway and around the corner. Himiko popped out of the shadows a few seconds later.
"You guys are cutting it close. One of those guys with the plague masks was getting close to turning the corner and finding you guys."
"OK, plan B. We need to get this girl back to my place. Izu, call Uncle Toshi. Tell him we need Eraserhead and Nighteye at my place ASAP. Tell him to use the word 'Overhaul' when he's talking to Nighteye."
The cinnamon roll pulled out his phone as we started quickly rushing home, careful to stay in sight of multiple civilians, so as to not cause a problem. I pulled a spare sweater and a hat out of my bag as I turned to Himiko.
"I need you to keep to the shadows. I don't think they'll follow us, but I can't be too sure."
"Got it." Himiko bled back into the shadows.
I pulled the sweater and hat onto Eri, hiding her bandages and hair and horn.
"There, now they can't recognize you from a distance. Come on."
With Himiko keeping watch from the shadows, we continued towards the house. Izuku pulled the phone away.
"All Might has called U.A. and Sir Nighteye. They should arrive at your place soon. He said that when Nighteye heard the word 'Overhaul', he immediately said that his whole agency was on the way. He also said that Gran Torino is there."
"Sure, the more heroes to protect this one, the better."
After a few more minutes, we arrived at the front gate of my house. We quickly rushed in. Once we were in the safety of my home, I turned to Eri.
"What's your name, little one?"
"Eri."
"Well, Eri, hopefully, we can stop the bad man from finding you."
Upon arriving into the living room, we see the area in the midst of decorating for Izuku's birthday. I giggled, making Eri jump a little.
"I just remembered that it was Izu's birthday."
Eri gave me a confused look. "What's a birthday?"
Mom, Aunt Tsuki, Auntie Inko and Uncle Toshi (in Muscled Form) all walked in to that statement, all of them giving a look of sadness. Mom, Aunt Tsuki and Auntie Inko had tears starting in their eyes, while Uncle Toshi had a fire burning in his eyes, anger towards those that deprived her of these experiences mixing with the sadness. I knew I had one as well.
'Oh, you poor little apple tart.'
"It's where you celebrate the day you were born. It means you are one year older." I turn to the adults and saw that a wrinkled old man in a yellow hero costume had joined them. Obviously, I knew who this was, but I decided to give him common courtesy.
"Hello, I am Shimizu Michiyo. I presume you are Gran Torino, if the look Uncle Might is giving me is anything to go by."
He chuckled. "That I am, young one. But I think I speak for all of us when I ask who this younger one is?"
"Oh, this is Eri. The four of us found her in an alley. Miko said that some guys in plague doctor masks were looking for her."
As if on cue, Himiko walked in.
"Well, we weren't followed. I did a check of the perimeter just to make sure, but we weren't followed."
"Excellent, and I'm sure our other guests will be arriving shortly." I could see the steam rising off of Uncle Toshi. I turned to Eri.
"Can you keep a secret?"
She nodded. I turned to Uncle Toshi and nodded. Immediately, Uncle Toshi reverted back to his True Form.
Eri looked concerned. "Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he just hurt himself a long time ago and he can't stay in big form for long due to it." I turned to Eri. "Do you want something to eat?"
"Can I have an apple?"
'Bless her little heart.'
"Of course you can." I took her into the kitchen to get an apple when some of the teachers from U.A. arrived.
One had blond hair in a long mohawk and was wearing headphones, sunglasses, a black leather outfit, and what looked to be speakers around his neck, while the other had messy, shoulder-length black hair, wearing a black outfit, with a utility belt and a scarf around his neck.
"Present Mic and Eraserhead. Nice. I was kinda expecting Nezu, but…' I never got to finish that thought when I heard, "Don't forget about me!" and saw what looked to be a…
"Am I a dog? A mouse? A bear? No, I'm the principal of U.A., Nezu!"
'Thank you, Nezu for answering that question.'
Eraserhead sighed as Nezu climbed out of his scarf. "So why are we here?"
I gave him a glare from the kitchen. "We found this little girl being chased by shady guys in plague doctor masks. Since she looks to be four or five, it means her quirk is unstable. From what I know of your quirk, you can erase other quirks, meaning if this little one gets out of control, you can help stop it."
He glared back. "And how do you know about my quirk?"
I grinned sheepishly. "Ask the green-haired birthday boy behind you."
He turned around and noticed Izuku, who had a grin on his face and a notebook in his hand.
"Mr. Eraserhead, sir. Can I get your autograph?"
I could tell Eraserhead was surprised. He was an Underground Hero. They work in the shadows, not in the day. Someone knowing about him or his powers was incredible. He grabbed the notebook, looked at the page that Izuku pointed out, and whistled.
"Wow, kid. Not many people know about my exploits. Although you should code these so that they're protected." He grabbed the pen in Izuku's hand and signed the section detailing him and his powers.
At that point, Sir Nighteye arrived.
'And there's the surrealism again.' Knowing the physicality of a person from art was one thing, seeing it in the flesh was a different thing entirely. Seeing Nighteye's lankiness firsthand freaked me out a little, and I had been reincarnated ten years ago.
"All Might, you better have a good reason to use the word 'Overhaul' when you called me."
I spoke up again. "My friends and I found this little girl being chased by men in plague doctor masks. When we found her, she jumped into my arms and told me to 'Save her from Overhaul.' I figured that with the information skills Uncle Toshi told me you have, you could figure out who this Overhaul person is."
He gave me a look over. "Ah, so you are Michiyo. All Might's told me some things about you." He gave me a look that said 'We need to talk later."
I gave him a look back that said 'Sure.'
He sighed. "And I take it this has nothing to do with said men looking for a girl matching her," pointing at Eri, "description?"
"Yep. They obviously want her for a bad reason, so I took her away from them."
"And why are the U.A. teachers here?"
"Eri looks to be about four or five, and Eraserhead is the only hero I know that could help if her quirk went out of control."
At this point, I turned to Eri and gasped. She was trying to hide. I guess all the new people were too much for her. There was also some sparking happening from her horn, signifying her quirk activating. I backed up.
"Mr. Eraserhead!"
He rushed over and, seeing Eri's quirk activate, activated his own quirk, nullifying Eri's. I rush over and pick her up.
"I'm gonna take her to my room to rest. Nezu, Sir Nighteye, can you come with me?"
The chimera and lanky man followed me into my room, where I placed Eri onto my bed and bundled her in, giving her a kiss on her head in the process.
"Why did you ask us to come in here?" Nighteye was stoic, unimpressed by my reasoning, presumably.
"Before we begin, tell me, do either of you believe in reincarnation?"
That took both of them off guard. Nezu spoke first.
"It is my belief that as a hero, if you do good things, you get good things in return. Same in death, you are a good person in a past life, you get a second chance."
Nighteye gave me a questioning look. "Why that question?"
I reached into one of my drawers and pulled out my 'canon timeline' notebooks. I show the 'season one' to Nezu and Nighteye.
"What do you see?"
Nezu smiled as he looked over the pages of the notebook. "This is a very interesting code you have here. On first glance, it looks like a bunch of numbers, but I noticed certain strings of numbers. It looks like a reverse alphanumeric code with the letter count at the beginning of the word."
'Of course High Specs would let him realize that.' I pulled away the notebook before they read too far in with the code revealed.
"Back when I was four years old, there was an incident at the local pool. I almost drowned. Before that day though, I was two separate souls. I drowned in my first life, trying to save a little girl from drowning. Then, that soul merged with the soul of the little girl who almost drowned in that pool."
Nezu piped up. "From the little bit of what I just read in your notebook, that detailed the events that happened a few months ago, albeit slightly different. Meaning you were either from the pre-quirk era or from a world where we are just fictional."
Nighteye gave Nezu an incredulous look. I smiled, happy that someone had caught on.
"I'm thinking that it's the latter, since I died without a girlfriend or any kids, yet I have a descendant in this world."
Nighteye turned to me with the same look. And then it fell. He put a hand on his chin.
"Do we want to know what is in these notebooks?" he asked.
I shrugged. "I saved Eri long before she ever showed up in the story. And I'm not even the one who was meant to save her. I've already messed with that part of the story. But the rest is still in the air."
"I think we should lock the notebooks at U.A. If they have future events, then we need to keep them safe," Nezu said.
"If I may make a suggestion, set up dorms for the next school year." I added. "Hopefully, Eri will be safe here until April, but I know that Overhaul won't stop until Eri is found. U.A. will be the safest place for her once the new school year starts."
Nighteye shook his head. "What about the rest of this school year? You and your friends will be at school while Eri is here with your mother."
I grinned. "You took Togata Mirio as an intern, correct? Make this a work study assignment. 'Protecting a valuable asset' or something. Plus Eri gets close to Mirio, which would have happened if I hadn't interfered with this world."
Nighteye placed a hand on his chin, considering the logic behind it. "That seems sound. And if what you are saying is true, and Eri was supposed to get close to Mirio in this other scenario, then this works out for both parties. Although when Mirio is learning at U.A., the other members of my agency will keep watch. Just make sure your mother doesn't take Eri outside."
I thought about it for a minute, before shaking my head. "No, just Mirio. If your Pros were to start patrolling this area, it might tip off the bad guys that she's nearby. Have him treat it like he's training my friends and I or something."
After a second of what I assumed was him thinking about it, he nodded, "That's true. A high school student would be more inconspicuous than Pros. Very well."
Nezu piped up. "Dorms would be an excellent idea. Should they be separated by class and year?"
I thought about that for a second.
'If Miko gets into class 1-B, specifically because of Vlad King, dorms would be a problem, seeing as she likes to be close to me.'
"I'd say year and course. I know for a fact that if Miko gets in, she'd be with Vlad King's class due to the similarities in their quirks. I don't know where I'd end up, and she doesn't like to be too far away from me when she sleeps. Says I help her with nightmares. If you want, I can help you plan that later, after the party is over." I gave him a genuine smile that said "You can trust me. I want to help."
"Excellent."
A few minutes later, Eri woke up and I shooed Nighteye and Nezu from my room. I gave her a bath and grabbed a few of my toddler clothes that I had been saving for just this instant before dressing her in those clothes and brushing her hair.
When we returned to the living room, Nighteye had disappeared, apparently telling everyone that he would get Mirio on this assignment ASAP.
The party continued. Izuku enjoyed himself. He was practically in tears when Uncle Toshi told him that he would be getting One for All today. The funniest part was when Uncle Toshi buffed up, grabbed a hair off his head and handed it to him, saying "Eat this!"
After that, I showed Nezu the layout of the dorms in canon, stating that there would need to be an extra floor for forty students. He countered by saying that he was gonna put another extra floor in the building, for Eri, Himiko and myself, while keeping the other wing of that floor for visiting students from other schools. We realized that this layout would only apply to the heroics courses, since there were too many classes for the other courses to be able to do that logically.
Soon after, Nezu and Mic, alongside the members of the Nighteye Agency, left. Detective Naomasa showed up and we explained to him about Himiko's family life. He agreed to help us fast track both adoption papers and legal proceedings against Himiko's parents as soon as he could.
That night, Mom set up rooms for both Eri and Eraserhead, although I knew I'd be getting up on multiple nights to chase Eri's nightmares away, more than likely due to her traumatic experiences with the Shie Hassaikai.
The rest of the ten months went smoothly. Izuku was trained to use One for All by not only Uncle Toshi, who had mysteriously been reverted to a state before the battle with All for One, but also by Gran Torino. They helped the rest of us, but more often than not, we were left to our own devices to train. The beach was finally clean, meaning we were able to relax and swim on certain days.
Eri's first Christmas came, and she was awed by all the gifts she got. We even managed to get a small smile from her. Not the one that broke my previous life's heart that would hopefully come after the defeat of Overhaul, but it was a small victory. Himiko got a cool leotard from Uncle Toshi that had some of her hair woven in so that she wasn't naked after using her quirk. And I managed to surprise Izuku with some autographs of Pro Heroes from Canada.
Speaking of Himiko, the trial against her 'parents' for child abuse and quirk discrimination went off without a hitch. They got hit for a lot of money and were even sent to jail for a few years. Her siblings were placed into foster care while Himiko was officially made a member of the Shimizu family. Dad was so proud of what I was doing over here that he was here for the proceedings and subsequent dinner with our new family, including Eri, who was able to come with us. We had to use a private venue and tinted windows on the car, but she was still able to experience a family outing.
Living with Eri was fun, too. After summer break was over, she was sad to see the four of us go to school. But Nighteye stayed true to his word. After a while, it was just Mirio who patrolled. And even then, he was more visiting Eri than patrolling.
After a few weeks, we had to go shopping for her. The easiest way we could do it was taking measurements of whatever she had on and having myself and Mom go while the boys and Himiko stayed behind, usually with Mirio there helping.
We also improved her taste palette. Apparently, the Shie Hassaikai didn't have a decent cook, so she usually had takeout. But she quickly grew to love Mom's cooking, as well as Auntie Inko's. Although she seemed to have a thing for anything apple-related, whether it was apple pie or apple strudel, or even apple jam.
And we got her learning. We had to do it at home, but since she had done it with me three years ago and with Himiko over the summer to get her caught up, teaching Eri was no problem for Mom. By the time the U.A. Entrance Exam came, she was able to read, write, and count.
Soon, it was the end of February. The day of the U.A. Entrance Exam grew closer. It was time to get into the thick of things.
And that's chapter 3 done.
And a long chapter at that. Over 10k words. This took me 3 days to write. And a lot of stuff happened. I know I could've split this chapter into two parts, but I felt that doing all the pre-U.A. stuff worked together a lot better than them being separate.
