Wow, It's been a while since I wrote this one. I guess I'll continue it. This chapter is going to be shorter since I really don't have much writing time anymore these days.

- E-Rantel -

-Kevin Johnson-

Kevin Johnson found himself thinking about all the recipes he knew of for potions and wondered if any of them would be useful in this new continent, or in the worst case, world. He walked down the road towards the street he was supposed to go up to find the shop. This city, E-Rantel was fairly clean from what he saw and the buildings all were stable enough to be considered well made.

Men and women walked the streets, some with robes and staves, others bows and chaps, and others in armor with weapons like swords, maces, and axes. During his time one Gielinor, Kevin had come to realize someone's strength by not just their armor and weapon, but their aura. It was hard to explain to the uninitiated, but most people on Gielinor could tell if someone was stronger than the other by the aura they gave off from their bodies. It was how much anima they exuded. Here was no different, and most of the adventurers here were very weak. He doubted any of them had the skill to efficiently wield Adamant, much less Runite weaponry from back on Gielinor.

He was so used to seeing adventurers in the grand exchange wielding weapons like God swords, or the Masterwork spear of annihilation that could be used to slay the gods that shattered the continent of Forinthry in their desperate battle. The anima those adventurers exuded would suppress any and everyone he had felt or seen so far. One would be foolish to underestimate the World Guardians that went toe to toe with godlike beings on the daily.

However, unlike those battle maniacs that went about with titles like The Warden and Insane Final Boss, he had chosen not to fight and instead hone his skills in other fields to make a tidy sum away from the world-ending threats and god wars. However, he might have to pick up the sword or wand if things really became dire.

Having been ost in thought he had passed the street he was supposed to go up and felt embarrassed by such a blunder. Turning back and walking up the street to the store, he eventually came to it. It was a well-maintained building with a large glass window in front looking out onto the street next to a door with a green sign above it saying 'Bareare Apothecary' in gold letters.

Opening the door, Kevin was greeted by the familiar scents of fresh and dried plants. The inside of the store was clean with polished wooden floors and large shelves full of dried plants, vials of potions, and various jars. At the back was a counter where an elderly woman with a very large nose stood with a warm smile at him. She had light skin, a heavily wrinkled face, a dark green dress, and a dull green bandanna on her head.

"Hello good sir welcome to my shop, I'm Lizzy Bareare. How can I help you today?" she asked the man who entered the shop warmly.

Kevin turned to her and responded, "Hello, My name is Kevin Johnson and I've been looking around for work as an Apothecary. Though I am not from around here so I may need to look at the local herbs and flowers first to familiarize myself with them".

The woman's eyes brightened up at the offer of another apothecary, however, she quickly suppressed her excitement to respond.

"Well, I would have to test you before I made any decisions. What about a demonstration of your ability? Come in back with me" She said, waving him towards the back room with her. Kevin followed with a nod of agreement.

The two entered what looked to be a laboratory full of plants, reagents like newt eyes and spider eggs, and tools like pestle and mortars, scales, and vials.

Tapping her finger on the table next to her, she called Kevin over. He walked over and stood next to her Sitting in front of the were a few large leaves with small spiky outcroppings on them connected to gray silvery roots. They were around the size of his hand and were a dark green. The veins of the leaves splitting into three as the leaves split.

"Fellstalk," Kevin said, as the plant was clearly a Fellstalk.

The short woman looked at him oddly.

"Oh, Perhaps this plant is called something different here. My apologies" Kevin said to the lady who just nodded and spoke.

"Here this plant is called ashroot due to the ashy taste and texture of the roots that are used in cold medicine. Why did you call it Fellstalk? Do the leaves have any use where you're from" She asked, now very interested.

Kevin thought about the recipes he knew and replied.

"Yes, where I'm from these are used in quite a few potions. It's main use is in potions that can restore your connection to a god you pray to. Say for a moment in time, you have lost your faith and you can no longer gain your god's blessing. The potion would realign your spiritual energy allowing you to gain divine strength and protection again. However, one would have to have a particularly close connection with their god for such a potion to be of use" He said, giving her one use of the plant.

The woman stood still for a moment. Such a thing was fantastical, if not absurd. A potion that could realign your spiritual energy and allows you to gain blessings from a god you lost before? It was surely the work of some master alchemist that would require incredibly expensive ingredients. Perhaps this man was a kook and he made it up, but if it was true, the information would be valuable.

A slightly greedy smile flashed on her face before she suppressed it. Perhaps she would press his knowledge of potions for a bit.

" Hmm. What other potions are you thinking about?" She asked, trying not to make it incredibly obvious as to her intentions.

Kevin brought his hand to his chin, resting his elbow on his palm.

" Well, I was thinking if I could make some super attack and strength potions, I could get a bit of combat done. Those potions are very useful when the ingredients for overloads and such are scarce. I can't get too greedy" He said in thought. Normally he would be a bit tight-lipped, but if these potions were novelty and unknown here, it didn't make much difference if he shilled them a little. Maybe he could make some gold off of them.

"Super attack potions? I've never heard of them" Lizzy responded, curious as to the man's strange naming.

Kevin was taken aback for a second. Then he remembered where he was.

"Well, to put it simply, these potions increase your perception, speed and dexterity quite a lot. They allow you to fight with melee weaponry much easier and allow you to strike deftly and precisely. It's a base minimum for the solo adventurer. As for super strength potions, well it's pretty much on the label it increases the power in wich you strike things with melee weapons and your overall durability and lifting capacity. You to put it simply, you get stronger physically. However, they slowly wear off and after about ten minutes, you need to drink another dose. Luckily you only need to take a small swig for it to take effect, your average vial could easily hold four doses, and larger vials and flasks easily six or more" Kevin gave his sales pitch, observing the woman carefully.

Lizzy thought for a moment, her forehead creasing with concentration. Either this man was truly a kooky lunatic or he had knowledge she had never heard of before. However, she was not going to be swayed by mere words.

"Can you prove to me your ability in potion making?" She asked Kevin who nodded.

"Sure, if I could find the right ingredients in here, sure" He confidently replied.

"Go ahead, I'll be charging you for the ingredients you waste though. So be careful" Lizzy warned him, making sure not to be gypped.

"Alright!" Kevin smiled. He had the fish on the line, now all he had to do was reel it in.

Walking around the room he found a few toadflax herbs that were fairly fresh. Then h also found a few bird's nests made out of oak twigs. Taking the two back to the desk, he grabbed a via and filled it with water from the sink, and began grinding the nest and the herb together into a fine powder, making sure to get the right concentration correctly.

When he was finished, he placed some of the powder into the vial before placing the cork on it's head and swirled it slowly. When that was done, it had settled into a yellowish color.

Lizzy watched the man fool around with the herb, reassessing his value. All he did was mix one of the herbs, which she identified as pale toad's foil with a ground bird's nest. Such an unorthodox combination was bound to fail, but he continued his work before raising it up to the light and proudly exclaiming that he was finished.

Turning to her, he offered her the vial.

"This is a Saradomin Brew. What it does is increase your vitality and heal any wounds that aren't things like amputations or lethal. Drink a sip and you'll feel like you had a week's worth of rest and your hunger will go away for four hours" He smiled widely, proud of his concoction. Handing it to Lizzy who took a small sip before her eyes went wide.

She felt rejuvenated to the maximum. Just last night she didn't get much sleep and was quite tired. Also to make things worse, she only had a small breakfast. Now she felt like she had rested fully and was comfortably full. This type of potion was very valuable, and he had shown its production out of goodwill. Surely she should reciprocate.

"This is quite effective. It seems you know your stuff. Alright, I'll hire you. Just don't make me regret this" Lizzy warned but couldn't keep her stern face for very long.

"Great!" Kevin exclaimed, happy things had gone so smoothly.

This would turn out very profitable for him, that much he was sure about.
