CHAPTER TWO: The Attack.
At precisely 12:14 pm the next afternoon, Kara was waiting for Lena outside her office, she was holding a spotty present bag and was humming a happy tune whilst she waited, as the clock struck 12:15, Kara knocked on the door and it was opened by Lena.
"H- Hi." Kara stammered out as Lena dragged Kara in and hugged her, closing the door.
"How are you Kara?" Lena pulled back and smiled as Kara adjusted her glasses, Lena leaned forward and took them off, smiling wide.
"I- I'm good thanks… I bought you a g- gift…" Lena blushed slightly and opened the bag, her eyes widening as she pulls out a bottle of red wine.
"Kara… thank you… I'm so hap-"
"That's not it."
"Oh?" Lena looked into the bottom of the bag and her eyes widened even more than before, she pulled out a small box and opened it, gasping and smiling very widely when she pulled out a necklace adorned with small pearls.
"Oh Karaaaaaa, you shouldn't haveee." Lena practically collapsed into Kara's arms, Kara, her Kryptonian strength kicking in, catches her and holds her steady, smiling.
"I wanted to get them for you whilst we were still friends… before…" Kara looked down and Lena cupped her cheeks, blushing as she moved closer until their lips were so close, then…
they kissed. A slow, deep, love-filled kiss as they embraced, Kara, the more nervous of the two, didn't really know where to put her hands so she just put them on Lena's back.
"Thank you Kara." She put the necklace on and smiled, grabbing Kara's hand.
A pair of short drives and a super-situation later and the pair were sat in a restaurant, talking like they had known each other since they were born, Kara explaining growing up with Alex and Lana explained growing up in her house, to which Kara listened intently.
"And then, You and Your Cousin, Clark entered my office and the rest we already know." Kara smiled and Kara took Lena's hand across the table.
"I love you Lena Luthor."
"I love you too Kara Danvers." Kara smiled; she was happy.
One meal later and Kara and Lena had paid for their meal and were walking out of the café when…
"Hey! He stole my purse!"
Kara and Lena looked as an elderly lady was pointing to a man running down the road, Kara and Lena stepped out into his path and he stopped. He turned and ran down a back alley and the pair pursued. Eventually the man ran into a dead end, he turned and grinned.
"Well well well." He pulled his hood up to reveal Hank – Lillian Luthor's evil robot doppelganger of J'onn.
"You…" Hank laughed at Kara's comment and that returned to a grin as around them, small devices popped out the walls – red sun lamps – laced with green kryptonite.
Kara felt weak, real weak. She dropped to one knee and groaned in pain.
"Lena… run… you don't stand a chance…"
Suddenly Kara heard a scream and as she looked over, Lena was lying on her back – a cut down her stomach. Kara crawled over and felt around the wound, she knew Lena was losing blood.
"I'll leave you to your… issues." Hank laughed as he ran away, a few moments later, a pair of black DEO SUV's rolled around the corner. The doors opened and agents flooded out, searching and securing the alley as Alex and J'onn ran up.
"Lena…" Was the only thing Kara could say as she was attempting to patch up the wound. "Lena…" She murmured as she grabbed a broken bottle and sliced her own arm, the green-kryptonite-laced red sun lamps allowing her to do so, she dripped her blood into Lena and a bit of colour returned as she dripped more in. "Lena…" She rasped as she exhausted that arms supply of blood as Alex and J'onn tried to pull Kara off and put Lena on a stretcher. "Le-" Kara worded as she collapsed onto the floor, exhausted, in pain and unconscious.
Authors Note: This chapter was written right after the first, I will leave a few days between the writing and publishing of Chapter 3 to take in feedback.
Thank you for reading.
(P.S: I know gaining powers probably doesn't come from a makeshift blood transfusion, that'll be resolved and explained later.)
