Chapter Seven - The Spiral.

As Kara's eyes flickered, she groaned and felt around for the warmth of her girlfriend. When she didn't find it, she sat bolt upright before gripping her head and collapsing again, from the next room, she can hear murmuring, she shakes her head and sits up slower, drinking and getting up, when she was up, her legs crumpled and she collapsed, groaning as, in her head, the instructions Lex gave came back, louder and more consistent than before. She walked to the doorway and, as she realised that the words were Alex and Lena, she sighed, walking further in, her face became one of shock as Alex walked over and stabbed her with a kryptonite dagger, Kara pulled away and collapsed onto the couch. Lena walked around and injected her with liquid kryptonite. Kara screamed, the sounds harrowing as they came out, her eyes full of tears as she murmured. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Lena woke up and looked at Kara, her temples creased as she watched Kara.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Lena gripped her shoulders reassuringly and, when Kara pulled away, a tear threatened do drop from her face.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." She shook her girlfriend and Kara shot upright, she looks around before curling her legs against her chest and tears fall as she sobs into her legs. Lena pulled Kara closer and into a hug and Kara relented, crying into her shoulder. Lena holds Kara close, mentally noting how she is shaking profusely. Kara pulls back and, with a sad expression on her face, stands up, drinking some water before grabbing clothes, Lena practically runs up to her and hugs her.
"Kara... what are you doing?" Kara responded by pulling away, dressing into her supersuit quickly then walking to the window, turning to look back at the devastated Luthor.
"Leaving, so I don't hurt you or anyone, ever again... I'm so sorry Lena... I love you." Kara sobbed and covered her mouth, Lena moved towards her but Kara flew off before Lena reached her, instead Lena just dropped to her knees, crying.

"Lena?" Kara walked clumsily into the CEO's office, followed by Jess who was, with an angry look on her face, shouting after Kara as she entered.
"I'm sorry Miss Luthor, I tried to tell her you didn't want to see any-" Lena cut her off.

"It's okay Jess." Jess nodded and walked out, shaking her head slightly. "Kara..." Lena swallowed. but Kara beat her to speaking.
"I'm sorry about this morning. If you don't want to be with me that's fine, I just came to do a few things first, one is apologise, I didn't mean to breakdown earlier, second is to give you this..." Kara placed a box on Lena's desk softly and Kara swallowed, blinking the tears away as she stepped back. "The third is... is..." Kara basically collapsed onto a chair opposite Lena, the CEO put a hand out to Kara but Kara didn't take it. "The third is that... that... I'm so sorry for being weak." Kara stood up and flew out, leaving Lena with the box on her desk, she opened it - inside was a ring, it had a ruby in the centre, there was an engraving around the side - it read: 'For Lena, the woman who makes me feel human - love from Kara.' Lena shakily took a breath before putting the ring on and looking after Kara.

As Kara flew back to her apartment, several things came too her head, one was about how she had ruined everything, with all of her friends, second was how she was too dangerous to be around Lena and Alex - well anyone really. The third she tried to push away but she just couldn't - third was about how she was just useless.

Kara finally flies through her window, plopping onto the couch as she cries, curling up into a ball, hugging a pillow with an 'L' embraided into it. Kara just cried for hours before doing something about it, she went to her room, changed and walked out, taking 2 things - a purse with enough cash for some drinks and a pair of bracelets that defuse the sun's energy and effects on her kryptonian cells.

As Kara walked down the street, the sun was barely still shown, the sky was mostly dominated by the moon as Kara walked into a bar, when she got into the building, she walked up to the bar and ordered the strongest they had, the bartender poured her out a shot of Sunset Rum. Kara just downed it in one and ordered 3 more, eventually, after her 5th shot, the bartender cut her off but Kara just paid for a bottle of whiskey instead, drinking that out the same shot glass as the Sunset. After a few shots of that, Kara could barely see, let alone stand up, that's why she didn't see some thugs walk in, she didn't catch them talking about the fact that Lena's new fling was at the end of the bar, she didn't notice that, until she'd finished her bottle, that the men had surrounded her and she only realised when her face caught a fist, she flew off her stool and crashed into a pillar behind her, she didn't react, she just sat on the floor as they began kicking her around, one picking her up by the neck and punching her until her glasses broke and shards of the glass embedded itself in her eyebrow.

The fight was eventually broken up by the cops arriving, Kara just lay there, not reacting to anybody around her, just lying there and sobbing softly, anytime someone spoke to her, she'd just murmur "I deserve' it..."

Alex was walking down the steps of the DEO when her phone buzzed, she pulled it out and her knuckles went 3 shades whiter at the name.

[Maggie - 2]
9:00 - Hey Alex, it's important.
9:05 - Alex?

Alex wanted to throw her phone down the steps and then run it over with her car, but she relented and answered the message.

[Alex - 1]
9:06 - What?

The response to that shook her to her core.

[Maggie - 3]
9:06 - It's Kara, she's hurt bad Alex.
9:07 - She's hurt and shaken, me and all the officers have only gotten "I deserve it" out of her.
9:07 - I'll send you address, come quick.

When Alex got the address, she ran up the steps of the DEO and, getting into her car, she pulled her phone back out, she went into her contacts and scrolled until she hit L - she then looked until she found a name - Lena Luthor.

"Hi Alex." Lena's voice came through the phone as Alex drove, she blinked the tears back and shakily responded.
"Lena... I need you to be honest, have you seen Kara recently? And if so was she okay?" Alex heard a soft gasp and shaky breaths down the line. "L- Lena?"
"I s- saw her e- earlier... oh god... is she ok?" Lena sounded very shaken, Alex swallowed.
"I got her at a bar on 86th... I'm there now." Alex pulled up in a parking spot and pulled her phone out the dock and to her ear. "I'll keep you in touch." Alex heard moving and then a quiet conversation before Lena responded.
"O-Okay, I'm on my way, I just want to stop off at home first, get something f- for her... please keep me p- posted Alex, speak soon." Alex heard the line drop dead, she grabbed a medkit from her car and walked into the musky bar, the first thing she saw was a solemn looking Maggie.

"Hey Alex..." Alex smiled slightly at the familiar face.
"Hey Maggie." They hugged briefly before Alex turned back to her and asked. "Do you know what happened?" Maggie nodded, her cadence one of sadness.
"From the footage and statements, she was here when some men turned up. They eventually got drunk and from witness statements, they were talking about Kara as 'Luthor's new fling'. Next thing everyone knew, Kara was practically threw off her stall, into a wooden pole, Kara seemed... drunk." Maggie scratched her head before putting gloves on and picking up a metal piece off the floor from where Kara landed.
"I know how she was drunk... Lena made her these bracelets, dampens the suns effects on her cells - she was basically human..." Alex looked down and then sighed. "What after that?"
"Kara just... took it... didn't fight back, got beat around like a boxing bag, only stopped when we showed up..."

Alex wanted to cry, right there. But she didn't, she turned to Maggie and asked.
"W- Where is s- she?" Maggie pointed to a corner where the beat-up blonde was sat, her face one of drunken sadness, blood pouring from her eyelash and arm. Alex wanted to cry more then. Alex took a deep, shaky breath and walked over, medkit in hand.

"Hey Kar..." Kara looked up at Alex.
"A- Ale'?" Alex nodded slightly and took Kara's hand. Kara pulled away at the touch and Alex sighed slightly.
"Kara... will you let me help you?" Kara nodded and shakily pulled out her glasses - the shattered lenses gave Alex an idea of what happened. "It'll be okay Kar... Lena is on her way..." Maggie looked at the door as Lena walked in, her cheeks stained with streaks of eyeliner from where tears of panic left her eyes.

Kara also spots Lena and, pushing past Alex, scurries off. Lena spots her and follows slowly as she spots Kara walk into the ladies bathroom, she follows Kara in and, hearing sobbing from the 3rd cubicle, she moves in that direction. When she gets to the cubicle, her heart shatters, Lena moves slowly towards Kara, who is curled up next to the toilet, crying and shaking. She looks up as Lena enters.
"Lee... please..." As Lena reaches for Kara, she shuffles back, crying harder. "Just GO!"

Lena pulled back and moved, closing the cubicle door and opening the bathroom door. When Kara heard this, she cries slightly. Lena, knowing she couldn't leave Kara like this, let the door close. As Kara heard the door latching, assuming Lena had left, she completely broke down, crying really heavily as her head rests in her bloodied hands, she squeezes and goes to dig her nails into her already bloodied arm when a soft, delicate hand takes hers, she opens her eyes and looks up to see Lena, she launched herself at the CEO, hugging tightly.

"Lena! Please... never go..." Lena held Kara close and nodded a nod of reassuring confirmation at Kara.
"Never Kara... never."
