originally a school assignment, but I liked it a lot so now I'm posting it here.

Experiment 37, awaken.

The Subject's eyes opened slowly and he groggily looked around the room. "What? Where am I?" He asked, his speech heavily slurred from his lack of alertness. He seemed disoriented and his eyes had not yet focused, this was to be expected, so M.E.G. did not see reason take note of this.

That information is irrelevant. Experiment 37, describe your most recent memories. M.E.G. went through the standard procedure. To ask all needed questions, as well as questions for elaboration depending on what answers the clone gave for the core questions. The process was very simple, but the experiments always seemed to make it more complicated. M.E.G.'s A.I. program was slightly dated, and so their computer sometimes had difficulty 'understanding' the test subjects.

"Experiment what? Who are you?" The subject had seemed to gain some alertness, though he still seemed largely confused. His eyes had finally focused and he was looking at them, but he didn't seem to recognize them. Strange. That was vital information and was supposed to have been part of his programming. And he hadn't followed their simple order. That would need to be rectified.

That information is irrelevant. Experiment 37, describe your most recent memories. As an artificial intelligence, M.E.G did not have sentience and therefore could not process emotions. However, something akin to frustration could be heard in their voice as they were forced to repeat their statement. The subject however, did not share their frustration and instead seemed to be in distress. He had just gained enough consciousness to notice his restraints and his eyes widened upon seeing them.

"Why am I tied up, what's going on!" The subject's breathing and heart rate had increased exponentially and he was currently attempting to free himself from the straps securing him to the table. Again M.E.G. spoke with a false frustration lacing their voice.

Subject refuses to comply to orders. It seemed as if the programming was indeed faulty. The subject may have retained memories from the original, but all set instructions seemed to be lost. M.E.G. decided to ask one more question to confirm this. Experiment 37, where do your loyalties lie? If the subject did not correctly answer this question it would be safe to assume that all programming past memory and basic information had been lost.

"Let me go! What the fuck is going on?" That was not the correct answer. The subject had resorted to shouting. Likely an intimidation tactic. The subject's breathing and heart rate had increased to dangerously high levels and he seemed to be in a state of extreme confusion and panic. This panic and confusion could be causing the subject to act violently and unreasonably, and thus not give correct answers. M.E.G. restated the question.

Experiment 37, where do your loyalties lie? Again, the subject responded with an incorrect answer.

"I don't understand. Please let me go, I want to go home, please let me go home." M.E.G.'s assumptions had been correct. The only programming the clone had retained had been memories. All vital information regarding his status as a clone, his purpose, his loyalties, it had all been somehow lost. M.E.G. acquired a syringe from a tray next to them and positioned it in the crook of the subject's arm.

Experiment 37 is defective. Commencing termination. M.E.G. slipped the needle into the vein at a 30 degree angle, and pushed the plunger. The subject started thrashing and screaming, continuing to make their job more complicated, but it didn't last long.

"NO, NO, LET ME GO, Let me go I don't want to-" the thrashing stopped and the subject's heart stopped. M.E.G. slipped the needle out of his vein and placed the syringe back on the tray. All was not lost though, as the body would make a good research cadaver.

Experiment 37: failure. Commence experiment 38.
