Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Reaper's Keeper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Beseria, Bandai and such do.

Clay hummed and rested his scythe upon his shoulder. This area was far different when it came down to it. there were so many variables that he couldn't begin to fathom it.

Then again? Everywhere Clay went brought death. It was a curse… Not being alone, but it was so different. He sat down upon a rock, looking once more as he hummed to himself.

"I don't like this…" Clay muttered once more as he looked once more. "I hate how this works." Clay added to himself as he turned to look to the side.

He closed his eyes and hummed. How could someone claim to enjoy fighting when all it brought was misery. Clay crossed his legs under him, quite curious what he sensed.

Yes, he sensed something strong and powerful. Something that didn't seem like it was common… No, he knew it was common, if it was? Then he wouldn't have sensed it.

Clay turned to see a blade descend on him as he turned and spun, his cloak helping hide his scythe which he held in his hand.

There was a clash of sparks as he was thrown backwards, planting his blade into the ground. He hummed as all he could only see a pale figure draped in crimson; her black hair made her look all the more demonic.

"Hmm..." Clay muttered, curious about what she wanted to try and attack him.

It seemed stupid; she was clearly here to kill him. What else was new? The idea was clearly dull at the moment. He said nothing while he flipped into the air.

"Did you sense me?" Clay asked with a raised eyebrow as he hummed and rushed forward. "Because I don't know who you are… But I'm sure that's interesting." Clay stated as he brushed off his cloak.

The woman's arm clenched in pain before she rushed towards him once more, a blade emerging from her wrist. Clay shook his head and leapt to the side as she slammed her fist into the ground. He swung his scythe, spinning the massive blade around his body which thrown her backwards. She knew for a fact that he was a monster.

"Comn, bare your teeth…" Clay said as he blocked one of her strikes at his skull, he kicked her back, his cloak billowing in the wind. "There you go…" Clay pointed out while he slowly hummed and slowly stepped backwards.

The woman growled and launched a kick which he blocked with his forearm. Sparks flew from his armored gauntlet while he glared at her before he jabbed his scythe at her. She slowly backed off as Clay hummed.

"Who are you?" Clay asked and rested his scythe on his shoulder once more. "I haven't met someone like you." Clay stated as he cracked his fingers.

He looked at her with interest. There were far more unique ideas behind this fight. He wanted to know what this woman wanted. What compelled her to try and kill him so badly? Was she that interested in trying to murder him?

Clay was cut off by a kick which sent him skidding backwards, he hummed and rubbed at his stomach. He grunted in pain and looked at her from beyond his cloak.

"Still doesn't answer my question." Clay snarked as he stood up and pointed the scythe at her. "You're a monster like me, aren't you? A being who brings such great sorrow to these lands? Who cannot control what they are?" Clay asked and raised an eyebrow.

"I am Velvet Crowe; you can tell that to the other world." The girl put in which got a hum from Clay as he shook his head and looked at her with interest.

"I don't intend to visit the other side, Ms. Crowe." Clay put in as he planted his scythe into the ground. "Are we done fighting, or do you wish to try and punch a hole in my ribs?" Clay asked and tapped the weapon on his shoulder.

Velvet was silent as Clay hummed and looked at her with curiosity. He was quite unsure of how this would end…. But then again? He could name numerous things that were quite different when it came down to it.

He waited for her to make another move. He was quite ready to keep fighting if needed…. However? He'd rather not engage Velvet if he didn't have to. It would be far easier on him if things were talked out.

Velvet finally slowly lowered her blade to which Clay planted his scythe on the ground once more. He hummed as he knew for a fact that something would happen.

"Ok, let's talk this out then." Gram stated as he put the scythe away. "You ok with talking?" Gram asked and started to walk forward.

Velvet looked at him with interest as the two looked once more at the other.
