Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Reaper's Keeper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Beseria, Bandai and such do.

Clay brushed off his cloak, rather favoring the effect it had on him to begin with. Clay looked at Velvet, noticing her demonic hand which caused him to shake his head.

"You're not fully human, are you?" Clay asked, raising an eyebrow at her while she shook her head once more. "That arm isn't normal. I'm not the monster, you know." Clay added while he cracked a smile, looking at her with interest.

"Your well aware that that doesn't really matter when it comes down to it?" Velvet questioned to herself as she shrugged to herself. "You are not human either, are you?" Velvet asked to which she got a chuckle and a shake of the head.

"No, I'm not exactly human anymore… Why do you ask?" Clay asked, slowly starting to walk back and forth as he did so. "You tried to kill me a little while ago. Neither of us are normal, yet you believed I was a threat that needed to be destroyed?" Clay questioned, planting his scythe in the ground as he did so.

Velvet looked at the weapon, it didn't look like such a warrior could carry it…. But Clay was obviously beyond simply being a warrior.

"Where did that scythe come from?" Velvet questioned which got a hum from Clay as he raised his eyebrow.

"I got it from a monster I killed." Clay added and shrugged once more at the moment. "Where did you get that demonic arm, you're using at the moment?" Clay questioned, raising an eyebrow as he picked the weapon once again.

"I'm going to point out that it's rude to judge someone by their appearance." Clay put in, turning to click his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "I'm not going to point out you're not human as mockery, I'm more curious HOW you managed to make it so." Clay added to which he got no real answer.

He shrugged, not expecting one so easily at the moment. It wasn't like she hadn't really thought about that at the time. There was plenty to think. He rested on the weapon while Velvet glared at him to which he shook his head.

"Do you wish to continue fighting or should I actually rest my eyes?" Clay questioned as he leaned on the weapon, pushing it further into the ground as he did so. "You're a damn good fighter, but you lack the skill of someone who's honed their skill for years. You haven't been fighting for a while like I have, yes?" Clay asked, cracking his back as he grunted and leaned on his weapon more, grinding it into the ground.

Clay watched her roll her eyes, gazing at the wrappings on her hand as she hummed once more. Clay watched Velvet eye him with interest as he brushed off the cloak and turned.

"That wasn't an answer to my question at the moment." Clay stated brushing as he narrowed his eyes. "I do enjoy battling you, but I will not do it without good reason. There's plenty I wish to currently do; this is one of those things." Clay added, pausing only to wipe off his chin and tapping on his weapon as he did so.

He could tell Velvet wanted to fight, she paused like a snake before gazing up at the stars above.

"What does a monster like you care about others for?" Velvet questioned to which Clay looked at her for.

"You're a monster from what you told me." Clay stated, raising an eyebrow as he did so. "Don't forget that you've pointed out how your arm is not human… And I can sense something from you I don't sense from regular people. How can you claim to be normal when I can sense that you AREN'T?" Clay questioned and placed his scythe upon his back.

Velvet followed after him to which caused him to chuckle inwardly. He didn't want to say anything at the moment to ruin the moment so he stayed whatever words that would spring forth from his mouth at the second.

"Do you have anywhere you wish to go?" Clay questioned, raising a curious eyebrow as he did so. "Or are you simply following after me for no real reason?" Clay asked, rubbing at his eyes as he did so.

Velvet was silent, only hoping to find some answers for herself. She would find her party sooner or later. Clay rested his weapon across the small of his back. He looked over his shoulder to make sure that she was following after him.

"Do you think you will be eager to travel with me at all?" Clay added in which caused Velvet to shrug once more.

"I will tell you when we get back to wherever we are or such." Velvet added, gaining a nod and cracked a small smile to which he hummed to himself.

Clay simply trudged forward, Velvet walking behind him. Clay nodded to himself, brushing off his armor as they walked ahead.
