"What's wrong, Glasolemos?", Alex had been waiting for any word from Kat about what was going on. Alex and his newest catch were sitting around just waiting when all of a sudden the pseudo legendary had started to growl in anger as she stared at the entrance of the cave. Alex stood up as he could feel a strange sensation. That HE was angry and protective. Alex felt so,e sort of headache start to come on and shook it off. 'No, I do not have battlebond. No absolutely not.', he lied to himself. Alex got up to see why the Pokémon had suddenly become aggressive. Alex could feel a coldness to his spine as he saw what the Glasolemos was looking at. A young, blonde haired female was huffing and puffing at the entrance. Her hair and face were covered in mud and grit. Her eyes were wild as they moved from the Pokémon to Alex. She appeared to be running or hiding from something. Then Alex saw what the female was wearing as his blood went ice cold. The blonde standing in front of him was a member of the Righteous. She was a terrorist and someone that clearly had hurt the Glasolemos earlier. This pissed Alex off as he stared at the grunt before him.
"If I were you, I would get going. You aren't welcome here. Plus I don't think my friend here really likes you and she's a good judge of character.", of course Alex had to use his false bravado especially when it came to taking down the Righteous. He could hear Kat's voice in the back of his head yelling at him to stop being a dick. That he should probably wait for Kat to return or try to blast his way through the stonewall. Alex ignored all of this as he cracked his neck, the Glasolemos did the same. Alex Baldwin was going to go down fighting against this evil corrupt organization. He waited to see what The Righteous girl was going to do. Alex was ready for whatever. "So I will give you a warning, either you leave now or we fight. My Glasolemos clearly doesn't like you and if you were the one to leave her in the state I found her in, then you are going to have big issues. How dare you do that to a Pokémon. You are a murderer. Yeah, I have heard about what you guys have done to Pokémon and humans all along Avantura. That ends today. So come on.", yes if Alex could distract this female then maybe just maybe he could buy Kat some time to get out of the cave. Alex was prepared for anything and everything except for the tears in Melody's eyes.
"You're right.", the sixteen year old mumbled as tears started to form. She wore the black jacket that was the staple of The Righteous. Sure she had gotten rid of that dreaded mask that she had been given when she had been "initiated" into the Righteous. She hated that mask. Melody was so happy to be free of that awful item. But she had forgotten that there were other parts of the uniform. She had not changed her clothes so of course the trainer that stood in front of her would call her that. He was right, Melody was a monster they all were. Melody looked at the trainer when something popped into her head, this guy that was calling her a terrorist and a murderer, she had seen him before. She had learned to study people's faces through her mask, she never forgot a face. This older teen was familiar. It clicked, he was the student she had met last year in the forest. The one that she had told about The Righteous' plans with the legendary Pokémon from Avantura. He didn't recognize her though because she wasn't wearing her mask. "I know you, we met last year. I'm the one who told you about the legendaries and the Righteous. I'm not part of them anymore. You have to believe me.", she pleaded.
Melody could tell that he still had his doubts. She couldn't fault him because she did not have that blasted mask. She saw the look of disbelief and doubt on her face. There was a way that she could prove to him that she was the same person from before. "You're the trainer with the extremely strong Dragalge. I said it was the strongest dragalge I had encountered.", oh yes Melody had a great memory. It's how she had been so useful to them. Now Melody hopes that it would come in handy again. Alex blinked as if he was considering what she had said. Only people at the Institute knew about how strong Poe was. Given that Kuroku was apparently working for The Righteous, Alex had his suspicions about where the girl had learned this information from. "What was the one Pokémon I said I always wanted to catch.", this would be hard. He had discussed that with the masked girl when they had met last year. Only she would know the answer to this question. Melody didn't even hesitate with the answer, "Dragonite." Alex's eyes widened as he again looked at the trainer before him. It was definitely her.
"What happened to your mask?", Alex nodded to the Glasolemos to calm down though he had his hands hovering over his pokebelt just in case. He didn't know if this was a trap. It would be just like The Righteous to send this girl over here and pretend to be innocent just to manipulate people. Alex's eyes just stared at Melody. When he had run into her last year, she seemed to be calm and composed. This time, however, she seemed to be broken. Alex really didn't buy this new approach. "And how many of you are there. I know you lot don't usually travel alone. You guys attacked Dexter's bar and put two very good friends in the hospital. You nearly killed one of them. How can I trust you?", the Glasolemos nodded. Alex's eyes were firmly trained on the blonde who winced at his words. The wince was something he was not expecting. In fact her body started to shake as the words had hit close to home. The tears in her eyes really started to come pouring from her as Alex had mentioned the attack on Dexter's. "I... wasn't... there. Dexter...is...my... brother.", Melody finally confessed. Alex's jaw was nearly on the floor. This was Dexter's sister that he had encountered twice now. He didn't believe it, but Melody crumbled to the ground. The weight of everything finally hit the sixteen year old.
Melody sat up as she decided to tell her story. "When Dexter was champion, he was my hero. He was 12 and I was 7. All I knew was that my brother was a hero to Avantura. The youngest champion of the region still till this day. I wanted to be just like him. But", her voice started to crack at the memory. Her tears really started to come from her eyes. Her body shaking as she took a deep breath to try and get through this. "Our parents started to indulge in the pleasures of life. Dad became addicted to gambling and mom became addicted to drugs. They ran the bar and restaurant, but that was only to fuel their bad habits. Then...", Alex looked in horror as the former Righteous member was openly weeping. She started to gag because she was crying so much. The Glasolemos, for the first time, felt bad as she decided to lay down and listen to the girl. She could sense that something was very, very wrong. "The Righteous offered them the chance to get out of their debts. The price was to sell me to them then the debts would be gone. So mom and dad did unbeknownst to Dexter. They sold me to The Righteous three years ago. And the things that they did were horrific. They made me destroy Pokémon. Made me attack places and put trainers in the hospital. I didn't want to do those things, but they made me. I knew nothing else.", Alex was horrified. He went over to the girl and put a hand on her shoulder as she continued on.
"So when I heard that there was a fight at my brother's bar, I showed up. I lied to The Righteous and said that I had wanted to go make sure my brother was dead. He's the only person that actually cared about me. That actually loved me. Even when I was being initiated into The Righteous, all I could think of was him. They told me that he had been killed during the battle. So I wanted to go there to see if it was true. If the only person that could love me was actually gone. But when I saw him I ran. I knew that he wouldn't want to see me. I was stunned that he was alive. It was then that I knew it was all a lie. But I also knew that if he saw me in the Righteous uniform then he would know that I had become a monster. I couldn't face him until I broke away from The Righteous.", a little smirk crept onto her face. She had been planning to break away since she confirmed that her brother was alive and well. That they had been bullshitting her this entire time. That was why she was so glad that she had been assigned to go to the dark forest. She had been plotting her escape since then. That was why she had used Twilight on the grunts. After what she had seen what they did to the Pokémon that this trainer now had, she knew she had to break away. That they would be too drunk and stupid to realize what had happened until it was too late. She was glad that the Pokémon, who the trainer called Glasolemos, had survived. Now Melody just hoped this student would believe her.
Alex was beyond stunned. He had never heard anything so tragic in his life. Still there was a part of him that doubted the sincerity story of the girl. It would just be like the Righteous to send a girl and have her lie. Alex looked at his Glasolemos who just blinked. The pseudo legendary eeveelution had walked up to Melody and licked her face. The Pokémon looked at Alex, if she trusted Melody then Alex thought he should too. Still he wanted to know about The Righteous, what made them tick. She would be the key to all of this to defeating the Righteous. They had spies so why couldn't Alex use this girl as a spy, if she was who she said she was. "So what is the plan? Why are you guys here?", Alex stared at her. The corner of his right eye still on his pokebelt. He would bring out Poe if need be. Melody could tell that the male did not trust her. She didn't blame him as she wouldn't believe this story either. The blonde could only think to answer the questions the trainer would pose to her. Then maybe she would earn his trust. "They want to gather the three legendary Pokémon here to not only destroy the Institute, but to wipe out the other regions as well. They want to establish Avantura as the greatest nation in the world and will use those three to do it. But first they want the Institute to burn to the ground with no survivors.", that last part hung in the air as the cave was filled with even more tension.
"Who is in charge of this Righteous. Do you know?", Alex had started to get suspicious about who it was, but he needed this female to confirm it. She gave a shrug as she had never met the man. She knew his voice and hated it. It always gave her chills which was why she was glad that she had the mask to cover up her disgust at hearing his voice. "I never saw him. We would have meeting with a screen. That was where he gave orders. He covered his body in shadows. The only thing we ever saw was his Corviknight with red eyes.", Alex's face went pale. Yes, there were only a few Corviknights that had red eyes. In fact there was only one that he knew of. One that he never approached because of how terrifying it was. Now this Melody was saying that the founder of the Righteous had a Corviknight just like it. Alex doubted that this was a coincidence. "What is the Corviknight's name?", Alex moved closer to Melody. She could see the look in his eyes. It was as if he had figured something out. That the name of this Corviknight was important. She didn't know why, but apparently it was important to this make trainer that she tell him the name of the Corviknight. "I think he called the creature Wrath. At least that was what we all thought it was called. He used to always say My Wrath is everywhere. So I think that was the Corviknight.", Alex felt like he was going to throw up.
Wrath that was the name of Franz Babic's Corviknight. Alex had been scolded by the president of The Institute after the rumors about Ava had spread. Alex remembered that look on that creepy Pokémon's face. It was terrifying. It wasn't a normal beast and now Alex knew why. This was a Pokémon associated with the Righteous. He didn't understand why the president of the Institute would be associated with The Righteous. It didn't make any sense at least to Alex. If he was right then this got even more dangerous than he ever expected. Alex needed to talk to Kat immediately. He pulled out his Pokédex and tried to text her, but the message just did not go through. He tried sending messages to the others to the same result. "Shit!", he said which shocked both Melody and the Glasolemos. Alex looked at Melody who was incredibly confused. He was acting quite erratic which she was not expecting not after just giving the name of the Pokémon the leader of the Righteous had. She wanted to ask if he was ok, but the male really seemed to be off. Alex finally stopped and looked at Melody, "Wrath is the name of Franz Babic's Corviknight."
Melody shook. The man that had split up her family, the man that had proclaimed to hate The Institute was the president of the Institute? Melody didn't understand and neither did Alex. This was some sick game and they were pawns in it. They didn't know what Franz was doing, but this explained why Alex had been so erratic. "Listen, my friend was out running an errand, when she gets back I need you to tell her what you just told me. She's the smartest person I know and will know what to do.", Melody nodded that seemed like a reasonable plan. Alex just sat there waiting for Kat to come back. He just hoped that she was safe. What he had just discovered would blow all her mind.
Kat stared at the hole in the middle of the roof. It was big enough for a bird Pokémon to get through. And given that Ptica was an ancient bird Pokémon, Kat had a suspicion about what was up there. She had followed the clues aka the drawings on the wall of the cave. Now there was a giant drawing of the Ptica. Kat wondered if any clue to the Pokémon could be found in that hole. Afterall, she doubted that the drawings were just random. They were clues. She had learned through Dr. Walkmen's class that thins were not just random. There were always methods to people's madness. That was why she wondered why someone would take the time to draw a picture of Ptica on the cave roof. It could not be easy. Thankfully, Kat had the perfect Pokémon that would be able to put her theory to the test. The same Pokémon that she had found the mega stone for. Kat grabbed one of her pokeballs and tossed it out, from it emerged her beautiful Swellow.
"Swellow!", Gale said as she landed on the ground. She blinked at Kat who was still staring at the hole in the roof. Gale knew when Kat was concentrating, she had been around the girl back when Kat was starting out in Kalos. So Gale knew when the twenty year old was planning something. Kat looked away from the hole in the roof and back down at Gale. "Gale, I need a huge favor from you. You see the hole in the roof?", Kat pointed up to the roof as Gale followed her trainers finger. The Swellow nodded emphatically, she did indeed see the hole in the roof. Gale figured that it was big enough for her to fit through if Kat needed her too. "Gale, you won't understand this, but I will need you to fly through that hole. There's something up there that Alex and I need. If you see something like a pokeball or anything related to a bird Pokémon up there please bring it back to me.", again the Swellow nodded. Kat figured that if the Ptica pokeball was up there then Gale could bring it back or at least fly back to tell Kat what was up there.
Kat just hoped that her plan would work. It would have to in order for her to stop The Righteous. If she could get to this ball first before they did then she and Alex could get out of this area. Kat stepped back as Gale took off into the air. The Swellow circled around and around waiting for the perfect angle to fly into the hole. Finally the Swellow decided to fly up and aimed for the hole. Gale hit the hole at the perfect angle except there was some resistance. The Swellow was of course caught off guard. She hadn't expected this type of resistance before. It was as if there was an invisible wall that was blocking her way into the hole. Gale felt pain that she had never felt before. It was as if she had hit a wall. It felt as if her little body was going to burst from the pain, but she couldn't let Kat down. She loved her trainer too much. They had been on too many adventures together. Kat had asked Gale to do this and she would not fail. "Swellow!", Gale cried as she pushed through the invisible wall and into the other side of the hole.
What Gale saw on the other side of the hole shocked her. It was as if she had entered a forest, but inside the cave. There was rich grass and a arch along with some forest like area, but there was another roof that signified that Gakemwas indeed still in a cave. "Swellow?", Gale blinked as she tilted her head. She really did not understand what Kat was looking for. Her trainer had not been very specific on what she was to be looking for. Gale would spend a few minutes just moving about the area as it appeared that she was alone.there was no trace of life anywhere except for her. Gale was about to leave when all of a sudden she saw a glimmer of something in the corner of her eye. On top of the arch inside this weird area was something shiny. Needless to say Gale decided that this was what her beloved trainer was looking for. Gale jumped into the air and flapped her wings in a furry. Gale would circle around the shiny object on top of the arch. It was some sort of pokeball. Gale swooped down and clenched the ball in her claws.
Kat paced around the cave. She had been worried about Gale. She had seen her Swellow nearly die from whatever was blocking the hole. If Gale was having trouble getting through the hole in the roof then there was no telling what was up there waiting for her. Kat could not lose Gale, not after Kat had just found the Swelloette. No Gale had to stick around so that way she could Mega evolve. Kat had wanted to have a Pokémon that could mega evolve for so long so Gale could not die now. Kat had wondered if maybe she could climb up and get through the hole, but there were no rocks or stones for Kat to climb up. Plus, after her near death experience, Kat was quite weak. This who,e trip had take. A toll on her mentally and physically. So all the twenty year old could do was just pace around the cave. She looked at her Pokédex and knew there was no point in texting Alex. They were in a cave afterall, you would have to be an idiot to try and text in a cave. Kat was so scared about Gale that she hadn't noticed the Swellow having gotten through the hole and having returned to her beloved trainer.
"Swellow!", Kat looked up and smiled. Gale had made it through safely. Kat let out a sigh of relief then she realized Gale was carrying something in her talons. Gale would drop the ball in Kat's hands. Kat's eyes widened as she looked at what her Swellow had given her. It was a pokeball, but it was ivy white with hints of gold. Kat could feel the power of the Pokémon residing inside. "No way. No friggan way is this what I think this is. This cannot be what this is.", Kat shook her head. When all of a sudden the pokeball began to shake in her hands. Kat gasped as the ball fell out. As soon as the ball hit the ground, it shook again. The ball would then open as the whole area of the cave that Kat was in illuminated in white energy. A beam of white light shit out of the special pokeball. The beam of light started to form a large shape in the air. The shape would then form into the legendary Pokémon Ptica. The Pokémon had long white wings with gold feathers. There was white and gold scattered throughout the body of the beast. The Ptica had golden eyes that just stared at Catherine Kiner. Kat fell to the ground in awe as Gale returned to her pokeball out of fear of the majestic beast.
"Only the purest of hearts can summon me. What is it that you require?", Kat looked around to see where the voice in her head was coming from. Kat couldn't see anyone except the Pokémon that flew before her. There was no way that the Ptica was talking to her was there? Kat continued to look around trying to figure out if she was crazy. "Human, I have learned your language. I can speak to you through the use of my psychic abilities. You do not need to worry. You are not crazy, Catherine. I am just far beyond your understanding of Pokémon. I wish to know why you and your friend have come to gather me.", the legendary could speak human. In fact it was psychic type in addition to being a flying type. In fact the Ptica knew her name. In fact it knew that Alex was in the other part of the cave. Kat needed a drink real bad now. She didn't believe it. Perhaps the fact that she had nearly died had taken more of a toll on her than she expected. She was pale and shook her head to try and think of a more reasonable explanation. Yet she looked up and still saw that Ptica was still staring at her.
Kat took a deep breath, "my friend, Alex, and I came here to try and find a clue to finding you. Not because we wanted to use you, but there are people out there that want to use you to kill people and Pokémon. They want to use you, Cerbic, and Hidrarian to destroy this place called The Institute where I am a student." At the mention of the Hidrarian, the Ptica started to glow with rage. "Ptica!", it cried as the cry of the legendary rocked the cave that they were in. Kat got very scared as she saw the rage in the Pokémon's eyes. The rivalry between the Pokémon were very real. "But, we wanted to stop them. To make sure that they couldn't release you three and make you fight. I didn't intend to open the pokeball. I just wanted to get it to keep it away from those that sought to release you. You have to believe me, this is the truth. I never intended to open your pokeball. It was an accident.", the silence was freaky. Kat could feel the gaze on her. Ptica closed its eyes as Kat felt as though so,some had invaded her brain. Someone or something was searching her mind and her feelings. Kat didn't know how long the Ptica did this or why it was doing this, but it felt like it was for hours. Finally the legendary Pokémon opened its eyes as it gazed at the twenty year old.
"You are true to your word, Catherine Kiner. I have seen into your true intentions and have seen that they are pure. I see that you only want to protect your friends. You may take my pokeball from this place. However, I must warn you that there are people at that place that you cannot trust. I sense that you know exactly who I am talking about as well. Take heed at my words: you must not share what you have seen here with anyone except the ones you trust the most.", and with that the majestic Pokémon again cried out as Kat was blinded by the white light of the Ptica. When she looked again she discovered that the Legendary had returned to the pokeball. Kat's jaw was on the floor. She had come face to face with the legendary Pokémon. The Pokémon that they had been looking for clues to. She couldn't wait to tell Alex about what she had just experienced. But the Ptica's words echoed in her head, she knew that she trusted Alex, Bunny, and Ava a hundred percent, but she couldn't say the same about the others. So Kat knew that she had to be cautious about who she told about this new revelation. The twenty year old walked over to the weird pokeball and clipped it to the back of her pokebelt. She would hide it until she could return to Alex.
Kat would run back to where the entrance to where the pool was that she had swam in earlier. Kat would jump into the pool very carefully as she went through the hole to get to the other side of the cave wall. She made sure that she did not get caught up in the sea grass this time. She would pop on the other side of the cave wall without any problem. She swam over as she saw Alex waiting with the Glasolemos and another figure. This was some blonde girl that was shaking and pale. Kat approached the two, "Alex what's going on? Who is this?" Her eyes were focused on the female that looked as if she had just been hit by a stampeding Tauros. Alex motioned his head to the side so that he could talk to Kat. "Kat, Melody needs to talk to you. You need to listen to everything that she says.", Kat nodded. This didn't sound good, but she did trust Alex. She walked over to the blonde to listen to what the blonde had to say.
Of course they were not alone. The grunts that Melody had attacked were awake and angry. Some had returned to their base to call in backup. Oh yes, Melody Monet was now target number one for the Righteous. They wouldn't stop until they had taken her out.
Ooc: So a lot this chapter. I hope you enjoy. I had to come out with some bangers of chapters since I was away on vacation.
