AN:
Okay so this is a scene from a story me and my very wonderful friend Dragonsrule18 worked on in a pm together. I just wanted to see what would happen if I wrote it by myself. I also wanted to try a few different things to happen in such a scene. I guess I'll see how this goes.
Go check out Dragonsrule18 if you haven't already. She makes awesome stuff.
I hope you enjoy.

Omega Flowey helps the last member, of those of Underfell escaping with Frisk, through the barrier. He has already gotten Asgore to flee for now. But he knows they have only a certain amount of time, before he comes back with his guards. He places Undyne on the ground then joins them. He releases the human souls letting them fly away to a peaceful afterlife. He has returned to his regular Flowey form.
Frisk picks him up as Alphys, Undyne, Mettaton in ghost form, Sans also known as Red, and Papyrus also known as Edge look out at the setting sun for the first time. She turns to them smiling before bringing Flowey over to join them.
"It's beautiful." Red gasps as his eyes gaze upon the large expanse land before them. He even looks over the city that can be seen from here. "Look at it Papyrus. It's so amazing."
"It is." Edge also sounds as if the sight takes his breath away.
Frisk smiles more seeing them all enjoying their first look at the surface. "We can head down the mountain." She suggests. "We might want to get to a place to stay before dark comes. Being away from the city we won't be able to see too far in front of us."
They all turn to her at this.
"Where should we stay?" Red brings up finding that he isn't really sure where they could stay.
"I'm sure that my orphanage will let you temporarily live there." Frisk informs them. "It's a little closer than the city as it's just outside of the city."
"Alright. Lead the way." Edge agrees so Frisk takes the lead down the mountain.
As they arrive at the base of the mountain they find uniformed police, and a civilian woman, hurrying their way then stopping in surprise at seeing them.
Frisk and the monsters stop as well.
The officers begin to go for their weapons so Frisk knows she has to say something.
"Don't hurt them! They're my friends! They helped me." Frisk tells them hoping that they'll believe her. "They want peace with humans on the surface."
"She's telling the truth." The woman mentions causing the police to be a little unsure. She moves forward and hugs Frisk. "It is so wonderful to see you alive. We were so worried."
Frisk hugs her back as Flowey climbs on Frisks shoulder. "I'm sorry for worrying you Ms. Brown. I accidentally fell into the underground. Though most monsters were violent these monsters became my friends. They helped me and we escaped. Leaving the others remaining locked in the underground. As long as they don't gain enough human souls they won't escape. We let the human souls we used to escape to go to the afterlife."
Ms. Brown pulls back and smiles more to Frisk. "It is alright." She then turns her attention to the monsters. "Thank you for helping her out down there. And let me be the first to welcome you to the surface."
"Oh darling thank you so much. You are too kind." Mettaton says and the others nod in thanks to her.
"Oh yeah. This is Edge, Red, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, and Flowey." Frisk introduces them to those there.
Everyone turns to the lead cop when he clears his throat.
"Well alright. We'll restrict this area to keep the other violent monsters from escaping." The lead officer tells them.
"And you can stay in the orphanage until you can find your own homes on the surface." Ms. Brown offers and the monsters smile appreciatively.
"That is really kind of you. Thank you." Edge agrees. "And don't worry. We won't attack anyone while we're on the surface. Unless it's self-defense."
"I agree to that." The lead officer nods his head as does Ms. Brown. "Alright. I can take three in my car."
"I can take the rest in mine." Ms. Brown offers glancing to the lead officer. She is glad that it is a small enough group that it'll be easy to transport them.
The lead officer turns to the other officers. "Return to your duties until your shift is done." He informs them and they all leave. He turns back to the group of monsters. "Who would like to ride along with me?"
"I'll go." Undyne steps forward. "And I'll take Alphys with me." She adds to which Alphys nods her head.
Frisk glances to Mettaton wondering if he'd be okay around Alphys. She does remember destroying his robot body to the point that he could escape Alphys's control if of it. She knows that it was all to be expected from the underground. She is wary of Alphys though is willing to give her a chance.
Mettaton seems to be a little torn.
"I can go with Undyne and Alphys." Frisk decides wanting Mettaton to be comfortable. So she figures he will be with Edge and Red.
"Oh darling. It is alright." Mettaton smiles appreciatively to her. He sees her show that she won't back down, with her worried about him, so he nods in acceptance.
"Then me, Red, and Mettaton will join Ms. Brown." Edge confirms so each group follows the one that they picked.
They pile into the cars and Ms. Brown takes the lead to drive to the orphanage.
Edge watches Red stare out the window taking in all the sights. He finds himself smiling as he loves how his brother looks when he's like this. He thinks it is so adorable. He tears his eyes away from his brother to look out as the trees pass by. He hasn't told his brother how he feels yet. He doesn't want to get caught staring. He listens, while staring out his window, as Red starts to tell him what he knows about stars. He can't help smiling more hearing the joy in his brothers voice.
"This place is absolutely beautiful darling." Mettaton mentions to Ms. Brown who smiles at hearing this.
"I am glad you're enjoying the surface." Ms. Brown informs Mettaton though is directing it at all of them.
When they arrive to the orphanage the monsters all look to the rather large building. They see that the orphanage has a fence around it though a simple metal gate. They all get out of the cars though the officer remains.
From the windows some children and adults alike stare out upon seeing them.
"Well enjoy yourselves. Im sure that the government will be in contact." The officer mentions to them to which they share a goodbye wave. He leaves after that to head straight into the city.
The monsters, and Frisk who carries Flowey, follow Ms. Brown into the orphanage where everyone in the front lobby turns.
There is quite a bit of shocked faces as the monsters step into the building. Though there is also some fear and others curiosity.
"These are some refugees who will be staying with us for a bit." Ms. Brown explains as the others listen. "They need a place to call home for now until they can go to a new home here. Just like you. So I expect everyone to be kind to them. They are Edge, Red, Mettaton, Alphys, Undyne, and Flowey." She gestures to each as she lists their names. She turns to look to the monsters, as more people pop into the room hearing her statement. "This isn't everyone but if anything happens you can inform me or another of the human adults."
Edge softly nods his head. "Thank you Ms. Brown."
"I'll make sure rooms are prepared for you. We have the rooms so there is two kids of the same gender in them." Ms. Brown explains.
"I'm sure that won't be a problem." Undyne tells Ms. Brown with a smile. "I want to stay with Alphys and I'm sure Edge would like to be rooming with Red." She puts an arm around Alphys as she speaks about her. "Not sure about Mettaton." She glances to the ghost who is hovering around checking out the 'audience'.
"Perfect. And I'm sure we'll figure something out for Mettaton." Ms. Brown assures Undyne. She glances to Frisk remembering Flowey. "Flowey can join you Frisk if that's what you'd like." She sees the girl give her a nod. "Alright. Well I should go do that. Feel free to explore and interact with anyone." She heads off to go get rooms ready for the new inhabitants.
Some of the kids approach the monsters, most a little hesitantly but a few run up fearlessly. The rest stay back out of fear of the strange creatures.
"So pwetty!" A little girl mentions running over to Mettaton, who lowers himself to be more her height. She has red curly hair who looks to be around three or four. She is wearing a cute pink dress. She blinks with her eyes shining at the ghost she finds looks so nice.
"Aw why thank you dear. You are very pretty as well. Almost as pretty as me." Mettaton gently pats her on the head making her giggle. He flies around her as she tries to reach for him giggling even more.
A teacher who is holding a three year old boy in his arms. He has brown hair with a beard and a mustache. His gaze in his brown eyes is soft and gentle. "It's great to have you back Frisk. We were worried about you when we found you missing."
"It's okay Jacob." Frisk assures her art teacher with a smile. "It's nice to be back." She glances down as the little three year old reaches over, the little one grabs onto one of Floweys petals. She moves one hand, her other holding Flowey, to stop the kid from pulling. "No. No pulling. It makes an owie." She tells the kid gently trying to removes the child's hand from the petal. She doesn't want to hurt the kid or tear Floweys petal.
Flowey tries to not tug to help in this. He tenses as it does sting just a little with unintentional tugs.
Jacob helps Frisk with this and together they get the little one to release the petal. "There we go." He moves the child away, Frisk releases the child's hand once Flowey is free, to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Frisk and Flowey both give him an appreciative smile.
A two year old approaches Alphys who happens to be standing by Undyne. She looks up to the yellow monster. She reaches her hands up with a smile though Alphys stares confused. She tries making grabbing motions with nothing happening.
"She is hoping you'll pick her up." A kind teacher tells Alphys as she approaches. "Pick her up with your hands in her armpit area." She smiles as the monster picks up the rather trusting friendly two year old.
The two year old grins happily. She reaches over to try to grab at Alphyss horns. Her hand waving in the attempts as she giggles.
Alphys can't help a smile and loves the toddler to let the child touch her horns. She doesn't mind the child grabbing them as her scales are pretty tough.
"How has she not been adopted yet?" Undyne questions watching her girlfriend interact with the child. "She is so friendly to everyone."
"She's one of our newer arrivals." The teacher explains to Undyne also watching Alphys and the kid. "Though I doubt she'll be here for long. Our highest adoptions are that of the younger children. Especially her age."
"She'll make someone very happy when she finds her home." Undyne mentions as she hasn't seen such sudden trust of a stranger. She must admit that it is rather fascinating to watch it happen. She almost wants to tell the kid that she needs to be tough or she'll be killed. She holds back reminding herself they're on the surface now.
Alphys brings the child closer to Undyne letting her take over. She feels as though the child is just so squirmy. She had to adjust her grip so much as the kid would not be still.
Undyne finds herself having the same problem as she tries to not crush the kid. She swears that the little one feels so fragile in her hands. She doesn't want her causing death or injury to happen on the first day. She can tell by how the humans look at them, that they don't share the same violence as monsters did underground. She has left that behind so she needs to accept things like this. She just hopes that it'll be a quick process.
A five year old and a seven year old approach Edge and Red eyes wide in curiosity.
"Whoa! Are you really skeletons?" The seven year old questions eyes shining.
"You look so cool!" The five year old adds cupping his cheeks. His eyes also shining.
"How do you even eat? Do you have to eat? Does the food go right through you so you can't eat?" The seven year old starts spewing questions. He only stops when Edge speaks.
"Yes we are skeletons. We eat like everyone else does. Our magic actually absorbs the food. Even though you can't see it. Later using it by creating magic from it. For our bodies functions and for battle. So no the food does not fall right through us."
"Whoa! So you have like actual stomachs and stuff that we can't see?" The seven year old is about to push for more answers to questions when an adult steps in.
"Lets not overload them with questions. They just got here." The teacher tells the seven year old. He glances to look to the two skeletons. "He'll ask you questions all night if he could."
"Oh. It's no problem. I understand others getting curious how us skeletons function." Edge waves it off in assurance.
"Thank you." The teacher nods then glances around. "We should start getting some of the younger kids ready for bed." He raises a hand to his head knowing that they won't sleep.
The kids are too excited to pass out after being put to bed. They'll want to stay up for the monsters instead of sleep.
The teacher decides to try anyways as he selects the youngest ones he can find first.
The child with Mettaton turns as another teacher approaches.
"It is time for bed Cindy." The teacher tells the little one. She is a little cautious around monsters still, so she shifts a little uncomfortably being by Mettaton.
"Noo!" Cindy grabs onto Mettaton not wanting to go without him.
"I can come with you two to help put her to bed." Mettaton offers to which the teacher accepts. He picks Cindy up who happily let him. "Mettaton is going to come with you. It is probably time for you to get some rest."
"Ton-Ton." Cindy grins looking at Mettaton.
"Yup. Don't worry. Ton-Ton is here." Mettaton chuckles then follows the teacher to help in putting the little one to bed.
As the crowd disperses as teachers try to get the kids ready for bed, Edge notices Red looks distracted.
Edge places a hand on his brothers shoulder. "You okay?" He worries that the whole thing has overwhelmed his brother. He is willing to pull his brother away if he needs to. He wants to take care of him after all.
Red is staring at where one of the teachers have gone with one of the younger ones. He turns to glance to his brother. "Yeah." His eyes drifting back to where he was looking. "I just started thinking about what it would be like to have my own child around."
Edge clenches his teeth at the image of Red with someone else and them having children. He wants that with Red and doesn't want to give him to anyone else. He will back off if his brother prefers another though. "I bet any children of yours will be wonderful, smart, strong, and so kind."
Red blushes and glances back as well as up to his brother. He sees a smile there to which he returns the smile. "Thanks Boss."
"Don't worry about it." Edge assures his brother. He tries to figure out in his head how he's supposed to tell his brother his feelings. He's terrified of losing his brother if he does.
Especially since they're on the surface which is so big that Red could disappear. He could lose him, and Red could leave to somewhere else never contacting him again.
Frisk heads towards her bedroom but is stopped by three kids. She slightly tenses as she sees them.
Flowey tenses knowing that if Frisk isn't relaxed around them, then they are bad news.
"Well hello there Frisky bits. We've missed you a lot." The female that seems to be the leader sneers. She flicks her brown hair, that's in a ponytail, as if she's high and mighty.
"I doubt that. You have others to pick on. Losing me wouldn't be the end of the world." Frisk rolls her eyes to them. "Or what? Did the others not make it fun? Well listen Annabeth, Maureen and Tim. I am in no mood to deal with you three. I am exhausted and just want to sleep." She has had to deal with them for far too long already.
It all started with pranks then ended up leading to something closer to bullying.
Frisk put up with it though found it really annoying.
"Not so fast." Tim steps a step closer with a smirk on his face. "We have only just started with you."
"Yeah!" Maureen chimes in smiling widely.
"Leave her alone!" Flowey hisses at them glaring harshly.
"Ohh." Annabeth bends over to look at Flowey. "Is the little itty bitty flower all cranky?" She questions in a tone that most speak to babies in. She boops the middle of his face pulling her hand back as he hissed louder. "Maybe you should go for a little nap."
"Don't talk to him like that!" Frisk snaps at the bullies, then notices Maureen pull out a handheld video camera. She sighs knowing that the two must have some pranks they plan to post on YouTube.
The camera is turned to Annabeth. "Hey everyone! Guess who is back! And didn't come back alone!" She gestures then the camera is turned to Frisk.
Frisk is stuck as the three are blocking the hallway.
"Yeah! She came back with these monsters." Annabeth exclaims. "And one of them she just carries around."
The camera focuses on Flowey in which Frisk tries to move him away. Before going back to Frisk.
"Hey! Frisk! Catch!" Annabeth tosses a spider that they had caught at her.
Frisk yelps getting a vision for a brief moment of Muffet going after her, with Muffets spiders she seems to rule. She gets away from the spider shaking a little.
The trio laugh as they record it all.
None of them have noticed that Edge and Red have come over, hearing something going on.
"I have an idea." Red whispers then whispers his plan to his brother, as Edge crouches to hear the plan, who then nods his head. He gestures for Edge to go to use a wardrobe, probably for gear for when it's cold out, as a hiding spot. He then teleports to the dark part of the hallway, the back half of the hall that is used for young ones who go to bed early.
The lights off there for the night to not gain a high electric bill, as well as to make sure the kids can sleep.
The rest of the hall lights are on for now, as they'll be turned off when everyone's in their rooms for the night.
Red lets his eye lights vanish to not give away his position. He can still see though his eyes don't glow showing themselves.
Tim tosses a rubber spider at Frisk making her let out a high pitched sound of fear.
The three laughing again.
Flowey has had enough of this. He leaps from Frisks arms as she calls after him. He didn't want to do this but he feels like he has no choice. He lets his face become what he calls his 'scary face' that looks a bit more demonic. "You fools." His voice sounding a little deeper when he does this. "You have decided to mess with the one I care the most about. Now you'll have to pay the consequences."
The trio cry out in surprise and fear. They are about to bolt when Red speaks behind them.
"That's right. Actions have consequences. And if you don't like them then you should rethink your actions."
Annabeth spins around trying to seem brave despite her shaking. "I-I know it's you! Those monsters she brought with her!" She sees the other two turn as well trying to copy their leader. "You don't scare us. You're just Frisks weirdo friends she dragged along with her!"
Though all three of them are shaking, Annabeth is the one that's the least shaking.
The camera now pointed to where Red is.
Red chuckles then lets a Gaster blaster come out of the darkness. He has it so it's mouth is closed as he doesn't intend to hurt them. He just wants to scare them to show them how it feels.
The trio scream and try to run past Frisk and Flowey.
Edge steps out blocking their path making them skid to a stop. He glares down at them as they look up to him. His eyes light up with wispy tails of magic coming from his eye lights. He lets bone attacks appear around him but not ready to strike, instead just for show. He growls at them swearing Tim almost makes a mess of himself in fear. He also sees Maureen drop the camera, that Flowey saves from the floor so they have evidence. "Now you know what it's like to be scared by another. So if you know what's good for you never bully, especially Frisk again." He then steps to the side letting the three run off away from them.
"Thank you." Frisk mentions blinking gratefully to her friends. She gently picks Flowey, who has left his face go back to normal, up as Red comes out of the darkness.
Red lets his Gaster blaster vanish and lets his eye lights return, while Edge has his eye lights return to normal.
"No problem kid." Edge gently ruffles Frisks hair making her smile.
"Yeah." Red adds with a grin. "You know we will always have your back."
Frisk smiles more and nods her head. She hopes that perhaps the bullies will finally leave her alone. She figures a scare lie that would surely make it seem less fun to pick on her. She supposes there is a small chance that they might retaliate hard. She might have to prepare herself for that possibility. She for now basks in the gratefulness of the monsters who helped her.
Suddenly one the teachers comes angrily stopping up to them. "What is this that I hear about threatening CHILDREN with bones and dragon skulls?!" She snarls glaring at the monsters.
"They we're defending me!" Frisk protests however she can't get in another word, as the teacher snaps at her.
"Be quiet. It's your fault that this happened. If you hadn't snuck out then this would have all been avoided. No wonder no one wants you."
"Hey!" Edge growls getting the teachers attention back to him. He is glaring in warning. "How dare you speak to her like that."
"Yeah! She is wanted!" Flowey hisses in agreement to this.
"I don't believe it's suddenly wrong to defend someone you care about." Red takes a step closer watching the teacher who glares hatred at him. He doesn't let the glare hurt him as he's seen it before, on monsters instead of humans. "And besides Flowey has their camera that they left behind. It'll have proof we didn't hurt them."
"Spare me your excuses." The teacher rolls her eyes at this. She returns to glaring when she finishes her eye roll. "You lot are nothing but violent monsters. You would even hurt children!" She snaps narrowing her eyes. "I knew, from the moment I found out we were taking you lot in, that you all would be trouble. That taking you in was a horrible idea. You haven't been here twenty four hours and already you're trying to harm children. Children!"
"They didn't try to hurt them!" Frisk calls to the teacher getting angry herself at those words. Her own eyes narrowing a little in her anger. "They just scared them to give them a taste of their own medicine!"
"They shouldn't even be here! They don't belong!" The teacher snaps at Frisk giving her a glare as well.
Red is about to speak up when he hears those words making him freeze. His eyes slightly widen as he feels hurt in his soul. He clenches his teeth turning away as the others notice. He closes his eyes struggling to handle his emotions. He teleports away not hearing another word from any of them.
"RED!" Frisk and Edge cry out only for Red to be gone before they can do anything. Frisk glares at the teacher, while Edge stares where his brother was then glares at the teacher.
"They do belong!" Frisk tells the teacher and spots Ms. Brown hurrying towards them. She is relieved to see her coming. She focuses her attention on the teacher for now. "They didn't deserve to be locked away underground. These monsters are my friends. They helped me even though they didn't have to. They put themselves in danger to help me because they're my friends. They may be monster species but they are as equal to us as any human is."
"Don't talk back to me. It is you who brought these unwanted guests here in the first place."
Edge wants to go after his brother, however he can't leave Frisk with this horrible teacher. He feels torn about what to do as both need him to be there for them.
"Linda! Back off!" Ms. Browns demanding and stern voice makes the teacher jump a little. She glares a warning as the other turns to face her. "You will not speak that way about anyone. They are refugees. Having escaped a terrible place from what I've found out. They are like any other child we take in. They deserve a safe place to stay at." She looks to Frisk, Flowey and Edge. "Now explain what happened. I have a feeling the three left out some details."
"They were scaring and teasing Frisk. So we just scared them to make them be in her shoes." Flowey, using a vine of his, gives the camera to Ms. Brown who takes it from the extended vine. He retreats his vine once she has the camera.
Ms. Brown looks at the footage and frowns. "I can understand why you did it."
"Yes but also Linda came here and started saying such mean things to them." Frisk adds causing Ms. Brown to look up from the camera. "She even went too far and really upset Red."
"It is true." Edge confirms and with Ms. Brown here now has made his decision. He knows what he will do now. "Now excuse me while I go to find where my brother has ran off to." He turns heading off leaving Frisk and Flowey in the trusted hands of Ms. Brown.
"Alright well me and Linda have a talk coming up." Ms. Brown looks to Frisk as she lets Edge go help Red. "As for you Frisk you and Flowey can go to your room. I'm guessing you want him to stay with you." She sees a nod of a yes then Linda gasps.
"You can't be serious! Not only is that 'thing' a monster it's also Male! You can't let them share a room!" Linda protests to which Ms. Brown turns to her. "What if he does stuff to her?"
"How rude of you to think I would do such things!" Flowey hisses and Frisk glares at Linda.
"Linda. Stop. Just stop." Ms. Brown sighs rubbing her forehead with one hand. "Trust my judgement on this. Flowey and Frisk will be fine. It's obvious that they're close as I can see it by looking at them." She lowers her hand to look to Linda. "So leave them alone. Your behavior that made one of our newest guests upset has already landed you in trouble. Are you going to add more to it? Or will you leave it alone and trust that I know what I'm doing? It's your choice. No matter what you pick I want you to be more welcoming. It is a big change but I know you can do it. These refugee monster deserve a safe place to stay as much as any orphan here. A place where they don't have to worry about something like what you did. So tell me. What is your answer? Shall we continue this or will I not hear about this again?"
"Fine." Linda storms off and Ms. Brown lets Frisk go to her room carrying Flowey.
Frisk thanking her before leaving adding a goodnight to the kind woman.
Edge knows that in the underground Red would have left the area completely. He knows that monsters in that area would try to use the weak moment to kill. He still checks all around the orphanage though just in case. He knows Red has to have seen someplace before in order to teleport to it; he has to have seen it at least once to do focus on going there.
Unless it is a panicked blind jump or if Reds magic messes up.
Edge just hopes Red didn't panic enough for it to happen, as well as hope Reds magic didn't mess up. He could not end up finding Red if he went to some random spot on the surface. He'd have to wait for him to come back which is not what he wants to do. He wants to comfort his brother. As expected he doesn't find Red in the orphanage. He knew it. He knew the instincts from the underground kicked in for Red. He leaves the orphanage heading in the direction that they came from. "Red!" He calls out pausing to listen hopefully. He keeps going along the way as he keeps his eyes open for his brother. He is relieved that he is able to see enough thanks to some lights attached to trees. He supposes that it must be a path, or part of the way to get to the orphanage from elsewhere.
The lights are pretty dim though so the stars look good in the sky.
There's enough gaps in the trees for them to see the stars even with all the leaves. Though the trees do block parts of the sky from down on the ground.
"Red!" Edge calls again as he gets further into the woods. He can't see the orphanage anymore now. "Sans!" He tries then listens. His worry feels like it is twisting his soul. He silently pleads for Red to make some sort of noise. Just so he can find him. He keeps calling for his brother looking everywhere that he can.
Red raises his head from where he is curled up. He can hear Edge calling out for him as it slowly gets louder and louder. He reaches out and shakes the branch he used to get to his hiding spot.
Edge pauses hearing the rustling of the leaves. He races in that direction that is away from the orphanage. He skids to a stop just after the sound stops. He looks around hoping Red will come out from behind a tree or from in a bush. "Red?" He calls out hoping he wasn't lead the wrong way. He hears the leaves rustling again this time above him. He looks up seeing the branch of a tree settle down to stop moving. "Red!" He calls knowing that it has to be his brother. He begins climbing the tree and gets to where the branch is. He has one hand on a higher branch, his other on the branch that had moved, and his feet on a branch just below the one that moved. He spots a hole in the tree trunk carved out by some animal most likely. He also sees Red curled up sitting in the hole; Reds knees pulled against his chest as he only has little room left.
Reds eye lights glance to him then he looks away with a small sniffle. His eyes betraying his sadness.
"Oh Red." Edge frowns in concern at hearing the sniffle. He can also tell by how Red is acting that he really is upset. He lowers the hand from the higher branch. He reaches into the hole, barely managing to brush the back of his fingers against Reds cheek. He can feel a tear fall onto his hand. He wants to pull Red close and tell him everything will be okay. He wants to comfort him until every single tear goes away. He pulls his hand away from the other for now. He checks the branches seeing that he'd have to move them to another branch. He sees one behind him that could hold them both, he just has to get Red out of the hole then across the lower branch to that branch. He focuses on his brother once more. "Red. Please come out. We can talk. It's just you and me. No one else is here. No one else will know anything you tell me." He promises to the other hoping it'll be enough to coax him out. He sees his brother turn his head to him, to which he offers a comforting small smile.
Red slightly glances away again his eyes falling to be half open. "I know I'm safe with you." He assures his brother. "But I'm so weak right now." He sobs softly and closes his eyes. "I just want to stay hidden until I can get ahold of my emotions. To push them away to stop them." He sniffles again only to wipe at his eyes trying to get rid of the tears. He finds that he is struggling to stop them though. He swears he gets rid of one then two more appear.
"Brother. You don't have to push your emotions away." Edge informs his brother as he keeps his focus on the other. His eyes not leaving the other. "It's not good for you to do it all the time. This is our alone time. You don't have to hide your emotions. I wanna be able to help you through them. Not just push them away as if they mean nothing. Your emotions matter. Good or bad." He sees Red let his eyes be half open.
Red seems to think on those words for a few moments before he responds. "I'm sorry that I couldn't stay there to help more."
"It is quite alright brother. Ms. Brown came to help. So of course I came to find you. Frisk will be okay. I can focus on you right now." Edge will talk to Red like this if it is what it takes to help him. He can hug and cuddle the other when Red feels ready to come out.
"I'm so weak to get so upset by that comment." Red slightly whimpers.
"Me, Frisk and Flowey don't think you're weak because you got upset. That teacher took things too far by saying what upset you. You don't need to listen to her. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Anyways we all get upset from time to time. It is alright brother. I am here to help you now. And if you need to stay in that hole then we can just talk like this. Whatever you're most comfortable with."
"I..." Red begins as Edge patiently waits listening. He sighs softly followed by a sniffle. "I feel really bad Papyrus." He admits. "It hurts. My emotions hurt so much. I feel like they're trying to rip my soul. The hurt, the sadness, the fear, the anxiety, and just painful emotions. It is too much." He clutches his legs with his arms around them as he stops speaking.
"I hear you brother. Im sorry that her words hurt you so much. We can stay here for as long as you need or want. There's no rush to return to the orphanage. I'll be here with you all night if that's what you need."
"I feel like the only place I belong is when I'm alone with you." Red admits to Edge and wipes at his tearful eyes again. "Like even in the underground. Not even Grillbys was really a place I belonged. I only went there for the food and to drink pain away. Grillby just wanted me as a customer and trying to make me pay my tab... Trying to get me alone for it... I always said no then would give him the cash. I made sure he wouldn't get me alone so dont worry about that. The others seemed to put up with me just because they had to." He doesn't notice a flash of anger in Edge from admitting that Grillby tried to have fun with him. He does figure his brother would be angry about how Grillby tried to make it happen. He continues as Edge stays quiet. "Then we come to the surface and we're so different from those here. When she said that we shouldn't be here... It hurt so much. I had hoped us being on the surface meant I could feel like I belonged somewhere. While still belonging with you when we're alone. Just to feel the same happiness I do with you. Instead of just living a miserable life when I'm not with you. What if... What if I never belong anywhere other than you? As happy as I am that I have you, I can't help wondering... Am I just meant to be miserable when away from you? Because I'm not meant to belong anywhere? Seen as a freak or a weirdo." He stops himself and lowers his head.
Edge gazes with sympathy to Red. "Of course you belong here on the surface." He tells the other who quietly listens. "I will always be here for you. No matter what happens. Even if you just need some time alone with me. Just don't forget something. Since I know you block out a lot of positives when you're upset. Frisk and some of the kids like you. I just know that you will be happier up on the surface. And if something goes wrong you can come to me. I'll comfort you every time. Yes there will be moments that'll make any of us upset. Just know that we'll have good times too. More than when we were underground. We can freely show affection here. We don't have to hide and pretend to hate each other. I promise you Sans were going to be really happy here. You'll see. It'll be okay. We can stay here until you feel better. I don't care if it takes all night. I'll be here ready to help in anyway you need. You don't ever need to push away your emotions and bottle them up. Especially not around me. I accept your emotions even if they hurt you. It isn't healthy to just pretend they don't exist. Okay?"
"O-Okay." Red sniffles in agreement to this. "Thank you Papyrus."
"Anything for you Sans." Edge assures his brother. He smiles to his brother and glows his eyes to help comfort him.
Red takes a breath turning and wiping his eyes again.
Edge stays with him letting his eye glow fade. He can tell his brother is feeling a little better.
Red looks at Edge before moving to crawl out of the hole in the tree. He wants to be embraced by Edge so badly. He also feels like he's managed to gain enough control of the chaos of emotions, to feel okay coming out. He knows that his brothers comfort and him being here has helped in that.
Edge moves to the more sturdy branch, so they don't possibly break the branch Red gets onto. He swears that branch could barely hold his weight let alone Reds too. He watches his brother look to him. He offers a hand to make sure Red gets across safely. He gently takes ahold of the hand placed into his own. He points out the lower branch to step onto.
Red steps onto that branch then makes it across to climb onto Edges lap. He curls up snuggling into the other.
Edge is sitting with his legs folded, his feet tucked to the side away from the direction of where Red was hiding. He snuggles him close and lovingly. He wants to tell Red how he feels but wants this to be about Red. He can wait to tell him.
"Boss." Red slightly glances up to his brother staying cuddled close.
"You don't have to call me that anymore. You can just say Edge or Papyrus. Unless you still want to call me Boss. I won't stop you. Just letting you know."
Red smiles a little and nuzzles into the other. "I'm not sure what I should do out here on the surface. I'm sure we'll have to find work. I'm just not really sure what I could do. I doubt the human surface works like the underground job wise."
"We'll find something." Edge assures him with a smile. "Something that works for us. I'll also make sure I won't go into a job that'll send me away from here. Away from you."
Red sighs in relief. "I'm glad."
The two cuddle for a few moments longer before Red speaks again.
"Hey Paps?" Red hears a questioning noise so he continues. "Can you tell me how you're feeling about all of this? I just want to know as maybe it'll help calm my worried thoughts. I do feel better than before. I just feel like I need to know to ease my mind more."
"Of course." Edge agrees as that is what Red wants. He glances ahead past the leaves to the dark night world out there. "When we first got out onto the surface I was excited. We are free and finally safe. Even outside. After I settled down I did get some worries. That we would have some trouble adapting to the human world. Then I looked back to you. And I knew that no matter what happened everything would be okay. Because I have you."
"Aww. Paps." Red blushes a little at this making Edge think how cute he is.
"There was still one worry I did have." Edge admits causing Red to blink up at him. "But if I tell you then you can't get mad." He needs to be honest about his feelings, if he wants Red to do the same.
"Edge. I doubt I'll get mad about it. I wanna know what's troubling you."
Edge lets out a breath. "Sans. I... I love you. And before you say anything I don't mean in a brotherly way. I've always wanted to be more than brothers with you. I just worried that you'd get mad and leave. Not to mention how unsafe the underground is. So I just never told you how deeply you mean to me. You still mean so much to me even on the surface. Being on the surface hasn't changed that." He pauses with worry about how the other will react. He is taken by surprise when Red pulls him into a kiss. He looks to his brothers closed eyes then closes his own. He leans into the kiss moving one hand to the back of Reds head. He keeps the other wrapped around him to make sure he won't fall. He is truly enjoying the kiss and judging by the pleased sounds Red is too.
After a little longer of kissing the two pull away. They open their eyes to look at each other. Both blushing from the sweet yet passionate kiss. They didn't make out as it is their first kiss like this.
"I love you too Papyrus." Red informs his brother blushing a little more. "I didn't have the courage to tell you either. I was scared of losing you forever." He is given a quick kiss after he says that.
"I'm so happy to hear that."
The two cuddle there for a bit longer enjoying each other's company.
"You know..." Red begins as he breaks the silence between them. "Back when I was thinking about what it'd like to have a child... Back there in the orphanage... I was actually thinking about having a child with you specifically. I want you so much and I only want a family with you."
"I will admit I got jealous of thoughts of you having kids with someone else." Edge nuzzles Red making him giggle a little then muzzle back.
"Don't worry Paps. You are the only mate I've ever wanted."
Back in the orphanage Frisk sits down on her bed that's on her half of the room. She sighs and places Flowey next to her.
Her transgender roommate Jennifer looks up from her book. She is maybe a year older than Frisk with long black hair, wearing a pink tank top and a jean skirt. "Is everything alright?" She questions putting her book to the side. She turns so her legs are hanging off of the side of her bed on her half of the room.
"I'm just worried about Red. One of the monsters that came to the surface with me." Frisk explains to Jennifer who listens to what she has to say. "Linda said some harsh words that really upset him. He took off and I'm just worried if he's okay. He used magic so I couldn't follow him. Edge went looking for him. I just haven't heard anything yet." She looks up as Jennifer approaches.
Jennifer smiles to Frisk. "I'm sure he'll be okay. Keep up that hope. Besides once he realizes that what Linda said is wrong, as it usually is wrong, then he'll feel better about it." She adds putting a hand onto her roommates shoulder.
"I hope you're right." Frisk mentions then she finds herself in a big yawn.
"You look exhausted. I bet the whole adventure and excitement for you coming back was a lot." Jennifer sees Frisk nod her head. She moves away as her roommate shifts to lay down to sleep. "Have a goodnight." She can hear Frisks breathing even out as she falls asleep. She sees Flowey joining her after giving Jennifer a grateful look. She smiles then gets ready for bed. She turns off the light and lays in her bed falling asleep.
Edge and Red arrive back to the orphanage.
One of the teachers who is doing a final sweep of the orphanage jumps.
After all Red teleported them back so they wouldn't have to walk all the way back.
It is very late now.
"Oh. I see you're back." The teacher smiles a little nervously to them. He rubs the back of his head trying to calm his nerves. He wasn't sure about the monsters, so them appearing out of no where doesn't really help. "Ms. Brown said to keep an eye out for you. She wanted to talk to you. So you can head to her office. I think she's doing some final paperwork."
"Okay. Thank you." Edge nods then glances around wondering which way to go. He can see that Red isn't fully sure either.
The teacher almost facepalms himself for forgetting that one detail. "Right. You're new here." He takes a few steps then glance to the two who turn to him. "Follow me." He leads them further into the orphanage. He gets them to the closed door of Ms. Browns office. "Here you go."
"Thank you." Edge mentions getting a nod in response before the teacher leaves. He figures it is to finish what the teacher was doing before. He leads his brother into the office by opening the door.
Ms. Brown looks up from the paperwork that she was working on. She sits up fully as the two enter. "I'm so glad to see you two back." She tells them and looks to Red who has his eyelights looking down. "I am really sorry about what Linda said that made you so upset. As well as her behavior towards all of you. She isn't used to change. I've known her a long time as we met in school. Her parents are pretty closed-minded. So I think she picked it up from them. Again very sorry. We are meant to be accepting of those who come needing a place to temporarily call home." She smiles softly to Red even as he slightly glances away as if suddenly shy.
Red rubs his arm then looks to Ms. Brown. "Thank you." He spots Edge nod his head in agreement to the thanks.
Ms. Brown gets to her feet. "Allow me to show you to your room. The other monsters have settled in their rooms." She wonders if the two will have their beds together like Alphys and Undyne. She remembers seeing sunstone push the beds together. She supposes she'll find out. She opens the door allowing them inside.
It's a standard room with two beds, two nightstands, a shared closet, and a bathroom.
"Now we can push the beds together if you so desire." Ms. Brown suggests then jumps as Edge picks up one of the beds.
Edge had placed his hand underneath the bed before lifting it up with ease. He carries it over to the other bed, moving the nightstand with his foot. He places the bed down next to the other one.
"Or you can do that." Ms. Brown supposes that it works. She smiles then speaks once more. "You must be tired. You've had quite the day. I just wanted to add that not everyone shares the same view as Linda on you all. If someone is bothering you then you can come to me. I'll help in putting a stop to it. You deserve to be happy here and feel safe."
"Thank you." It's Edge that responds this time. "You don't know how much that means to us."
Ms. Brown smiles at hearing this. "Im glad to hear it. I'll let you two get some rest." She heads off as the brothers crawl onto the beds. She closes the door gently before she leaves though. She doesn't want it to be left open in case they need to sleep in tomorrow.
So this way people can't just look in as they pass by tomorrow, thus letting them rest in privacy as well as not being bugged by some of the orphans.
Red and Edge cuddle against each other soon falling asleep. They really did have quite the big day after all.
The next day Jennifer is walking towards the library carrying some books she finished. She wants to return these before the orphanages classes start. She thinks that it is nice that they get education on site rather than traveling to do so.
It makes any free periods feel more free, as they're allowed to do more with less restrictions.
Alphys and Undyne turn as they hear chuckling across from them. They're leaning against a wall in the hall. They watch as one of the boys trips Jennifer.
Jennifer cries out as she falls landing on her front as her books clatter to the ground.
The boys that cussed it laugh and look down at the other.
"Freak!" The one that tripped Jennifer calls out as she gets up to her hands and knees.
Undyne moves closer, Alphys not far behind, to the bullies.
The bullies notice and flee the scene. Having heard rumors from Annabeth about the monsters not caring if they hurt children.
Undyne crouches as Jennifer turns to her. She smiles as kindly as she can then offers her a hand.
Jennifer gratefully takes it and is helped up by Undyne.
Alphys picks up the books reading some of the title of them. "Do you like science?"
"Oh yes." Jennifer nods her head and she smiles. "I really do. Especially Marine Biology! There is so much we don't know about the worlds oceans! Can you imagine all the undiscovered creatures that lay where we haven't been able to go yet? Not to mention the creatures that have been discovered. Making up what we know of the waters ecosystem." She pauses realizing she's starting to ramble. She clears her throat and slightly glances away blushing. "Ahem. Sorry about going off like that."
"It's okay. I actually studied science. It was how I became the Royal scientist in the underground." Alphys admits and sees Jennifer's face light up in wonder.
"What science subject did you study?"
"I dabbled in all of them. Chemical science, robotics, environment science, and a bunch of other ones." Alphys blinks as Jennifer moves even closer. She can see the high excitement in the others eyes.
"What kind of projects did you get to do down there? Did they work? I've had explosions happen on my projects, I'm guessing it is a normal thing to happen if trying something new. Can you teach me what you know?" Jennifer clearly has no clue about the terrible things the king made Alphys do. She is bouncing slightly without lifting her feet off the ground in excitement.
Undyne blinks worriedly at Alphys who slightly glances away.
Alphys tries to hide her feelings about what she was made to do by the king. She is just too used to not showing weakness. "I worked on a lot of things. Cameras, puzzles, traps, and some other projects. Not all ended well."
Jennifer does manage to catch on that something bad must have happened. She backs off a little. "That's okay."
"But I am not opposed to teaching you." Alphys looks back to Jennifer. "Maybe you could end up using the knowledge better than I had to."
"I promise to only use my science knowledge for good." Jennifer nods her head. "Thank you so much!" She turns around happily as she imagines how things will go; as she studies under Alphys.
Alphys glances to Undyne catching a thought passing her girlfriends eyes. She sees Undyne turn from Jennifer to her and their eyes meet. She nods her head not minding the idea Undyne has thought. She hasn't met anyone other Red, and Mettaton when he first came to her only after that he wasn't so into it, who was interested in the science field. She feels like there's something special about Jennifer. So she wouldn't mind Undynes idea. She also had seen Undyne eyeing some of the kids in thought. She's willing to go along if Undyne likes Jennifer too.
Undyne turns back to Jennifer. "Say..." She pauses not sure if they've introduced themselves.
"Oh. Jennifer." Jennifer blinks realizing her mistake.
"I'm Undyne and this is Alphys." Undyne does the introductions. "Say, would it be alright if you came with us?" She sees Jennifer's eyes widen in surprise. "We plan to find a house by a lake or something. Alphys would enjoy the hot sand and me the water. I was wondering if we should take a child with us. Seeing Alphys holding a child made me want to see it more. Plus you can connect with Alphys really well. So..."
"Yes!" Jennifer cries out happily then tries to settle down a little. Her voice lowering back to an indoor speaking voice. "I mean yes. Of course I'll come with you. This is so amazing! I thought I'd have to leave this place as an adult. No one seemed to want me."
Undyne puts an arm around Jennifer's shoulders. "It's okay. You're wanted by us."
Alphys nods her head in agreement and Jennifer hugs them both.
The two return her hug glad that she is happy. They know they'll probably have to tell Ms. Brown and get that process done.
The three pull apart then they turn as a teacher approaches.
"Jennifer you're going to be late to class."
"Oh no!" Jennifer turns to the two. "I have a science class right now."
"That's okay. You go ahead." Alphys assures her with a smile.
So Jennifer quickly heads away.
Undyne turns to the teacher. "Say, is Ms. Brown available for an adoption fill out?"
The teacher blinks in surprise then nods. "I think so. You can talk to her. She makes sure every orphan here goes to a good place."
"Can you take us there?" Undyne questions to which they are lead to Ms. Browns office.
Ms. Brown glances up as they arrive. "Ah good morning." She greets as the teacher leaves for his class.
"Ms. Brown. We would like to take Jennifer with us when we get our home on the surface."
"Of course. Oh I am so happy to hear that she's getting a home." Ms. Brown agrees and grabs some papers. "This is the paperwork. Of course I'll be doing some checks on some stuff. It is protocol so I can't help it. Even the human parents go through it."
"That's fine." Undyne isn't worried about that as she feels like they'll pass this. She gently takes the paperwork. "We'll bring this when we've finished with it." She is glad that there is a pen attached the papers.
Ms. Brown nods her head so the two leave to go to their rooms to do the paperwork. She pulls up Jennifer's profile to add the note that her adoption is in the works. She turns as a knock comes to the door. She sees the teacher that had left. "You're back?" She thought he'd be in class.
"I did leave. But turns out there is government agents outside. They want to speak with the monsters."
"I see." Ms. Brown gets up to her feet. "I will deal with this. Go to your class."
The teacher nods and leaves again.
Ms. Brown goes to the front door where she finds a representative with a bodyguard. She nods in greeting to the suit wearing man in front of the door. "I understand you wish to make contact with the monsters."
"That is right." The man with slick back hair and a suit nods. He shows his ID badge to prove who he is. "The name is Brandon. I have been sent to represent the government. Trusted with making a decision on things." He lowers his badge when done.
"Of course. I can go get them and you can talk in my office." Ms. Brown informs the man named Brandon. "I would like to add that they have not harmed anyone since they got here. They are good monsters. I can see why one of our orphans who helped bring them here did so."
"I will keep that in mind." Brandon promises and Ms. Brown leads him to her office. He waits with his bodyguard as Ms. Brown heads off to find all the monsters. She finds Mettaton in the computer lab checking out things about human television. "Mettaton?"
Mettaton turns to her. "Human TV is so cool! There's so much to explore!" He mentions his eyes shining.
"Would it be alright if I steal you for a moment. Also do you know where the other monsters went?"
"I can come help with whatever you need." Mettaton agrees then floats away from the chair. "And no I'm not sure where they are."
"Well let's go. I think I have an idea where Undyne and Alphys are. Then we can find Edge and Red."
"Oh." Mettaton seems to remember something. "I would also like to adopt Cindy if that's alright. She as sweet as candy and I will admit I've become a little attached to her."
Ms. Brown smiles to him. "Of course we can talk about that after this. I'm sure she'll be very happy with you. For right now come along." She leads the way to Undyne and Alphys's room where the door is open. She knocks and sees them look up from the paperwork. "I need to borrow you. Sorry for interrupting."
"Oh. It's okay." Undyne speaks as her and Alphys get up to their feet.
"Now we need Edge, Red and Flowey." Ms. Brown knows Flowey will be with Frisk most likely. She's seen how close the two are after all. She just isn't sure about Red and Edge.
"I think I saw them earlier." Undyne takes the lead as the rest of the small group follow. She leads them to a common room where the skeletons are the only two there.
Edge is on the couch there looking through the newspaper checking somethings.
Red is laying on the carpet napping in the sunlight.
Ms. Brown approaches to which Edge looks up. "I need to borrow the two of you. If that is okay." She mentions to which Edge nods.
"It's fine. I was just trying to get an idea on some locations for a home on the surface, as well as maybe some jobs that are out there." Edge puts the newspaper aside before getting up.
"Well don't be afraid to ask if you need any help." Ms. Brown nods letting Edge gently wake up Red. "Okay so now it's just Flowey that we need."
"What's going on?" Red questions rubbing one eye a little sleepily.
"A representative of the government is here to speak to you all. To figure out a few things." Ms. Brown explains to them. "He's waiting at my office."
"Well we can grab Flowey." Red offers. "And maybe Frisk since they'll probably want her side of it too. I remember where your office is. I made a map in my head as I went around earlier."
"Well okay." Ms. Brown agrees. "Tell her teacher to call me if she has any issues with it." She sees them nod in agreement to that. She leads the other three to her office as the brothers, hand in hand, go to get Frisk who they had walked to her first class today. She arrives back at her office.
"Is this all of them?" Brandon inquires to which Ms. Brown shakes her head.
"We have three more, well four including the orphan here who helped them out, coming. The two just went to grab the others. They'll be here soon." Ms. Brown explains to which the representative nods his head in understanding.
Red and Edge are approaching where Frisks first class is. They pause seeing Frisk standing just outside clutching Flowey as Linda looks angry with her.
"I told you that he can't be with you during the test you little brat. I won't allow cheating of any kind. Then you run out refusing to let me just put that flower out here."
"You shouldn't pick him up without asking!" Frisk retorts back keeping Flowey close.
"It was just the fastest way to move him. I thought you'd be understanding of that." Linda snorts shaking her head. "Frisk. If you keep up with all the issues, that I point out, you aren't going to have anyone who will adopt you. I'm putting myself on thin ice with Ms. Brown by telling you your flaws. So actually listen and appreciate what I am risking to get you out of here. Because you really will never find anyone who will want you acting like this."
"She is fine the way she is!" Flowey hisses and the brothers let out soft growls that go unnoticed.
The brothers both head over with Edge speaking first, as he stands ready to protect those he cares for, and Red moving to stand by Frisk.
"She is wanted! And in fact she already has a family." Edge feels Frisk curious gaze on him. "Us. We'll take her away from here with us to live with us."
"Yeah! We'll adopt her!" Red agrees as they stand tall. He does notice Frisks face light up in happiness at this.
"You're rude to my mate and rude to our daughter. I won't let you hurt them anymore." Edge pauses as he feels a hand on his arm. He slightly glances back and sees Red.
"She's not worth getting in trouble for. Lets just get Frisk and Flowey to Ms. Browns office. They're waiting for us."
Frisk and Flowey glance to each other wondering what Red means. They aren't aware is anyone waiting for them.
"Fine. For you." Edge agrees with a sigh. He is grateful as he was stopped from teaching Linda a lesson. He needs to keep his grip on himself to keep him from hurting humans, this isn't the underground. He gives a final glare to Linda then leads his family away. He waits until they're around the corner to let Red step forward to get them there.
Before they continue Frisk speaks up.
"Thank you both so much." Frisk mentions with tears forming in her eyes. She is embraced by Red and Edge at seeing her tears. She makes sure Flowey isn't squished. "I always thought that no one really would want to adopt me. I never thought that I'd hear the words that someone wants to adopt me."
"You're way better than that woman says you are. You are very amazing and talented." Edge tells her as Red makes a sound of agreement. "There's no way we're just leaving you here."
Frisk leans into their embrace crying with a big grin on her face. Her eyes closed as she moves closer. She is so happy about the news. "I love you guys."
"We love you too Frisk." Red pats Frisks head making her look to him with her grin.
The two stay there with her for a little longer until she manages to calm down.
"Okay." Frisk takes a breath wiping away any signs of her tears from her face. "Im good."
"Great. Cause we are needed to meet a government person. Didn't have the stomach to tell ya when we heard the teachers words. Priorities changed."
"Sans!" Edge groans shaking his head at the pub as Red chuckles. He gets his mind focused back on the reason they came. "Lets get going. I bet Ms. Brown is wondering where are."
Frisk nods and walks with her family to Ms. Browns office. She smiles with assurance to Ms. Brown when she sees the worried look.
"Sorry that it took a little longer than planned." Edge apologizes. "We had a slight thing we had to take care." He looks to Ms. Brown and he doesn't have to say anything. He seems to have communicated all he needs to in the look.
Ms. Brown sighs. "I'm sorry that Linda has been a bit troublesome to you. I promise I'll have a good talk with her. I'll make sure that what needs to happen with that will happen. Let us focus on Brandon." She turns as Brandon nods his head in thanks.
"Thank you Ms. Brown." Brandon then clears his throat while looking over all the monsters. "Monsters and human." He nods to Frisk when adding the human part. "I am Brandon. I am here to represent the government. We have discussed a few things. This shouldn't take long. I will also get some information about some things." He sees the go ahead nod from Edge. "We can start with getting some information. It's not too much. So you come from the underground of the mountain." He sees the monsters nod their heads. "Okay and from what I understand the underground is rather violent. That's why you left."
"Yes and don't worry we left the barrier intact. Unless that's broken which they would need humans to do so." Edge confirms. "The human souls that were there helped us to allow us to get past. Leaving the other monsters down there. The human souls were released after we got through. So I do believe they are in the afterlife at least a better one than being trapped."
"Okay. We'll make sure that no one else goes down there by making the place off limits." Brandon takes mental note of that. "I'm guessing monsters that are still in the underground killed the humans that fell down?"
"Them and accidents. Like one drowned in the water we have underground." Edge confirms to which Brandon nods.
"That's okay. We really do appreciate that you haven't killed any humans since you got out." Brandon adds.
"Of course. We don't want to ruin this." Edge confirms.
"And we will help if the monsters do manage to escape." Undyne adds.
"That'd be appreciated." Brandon turns to Frisk. "And you, who knows the monsters better than any of us, are able to confirm that accepting this will not cause trouble."
"I can confirm. I believe in them. I'm also glad that I got to know them. I'd be dead if it wasn't for my friends and new family."
Ms. Brown smiles at Edge who gives a soft nod of confirmation. She nods quietly then they look to Brandon as he speaks.
"Alright last question. I have to ask this as my higher ups told me to get confirmation. Face to face. You are monster refugees seeking shelter on the surface, in this case, willing to adapt to how we do things?"
"That is right." Edge confirms to Brandon.
"Thank you. Now we can move on from that. Something is the government have discussed is about the law. We wish to ensure you are all put in so monsters, like you that are good, have protection. What the things you need to know, and agree to, is just a few changes. Mainly the big ones like not attack unless it is clearly self defense. Which you have done well by the fact I was told you haven't harmed anyone. We will still investigate incidents like we do with the rest of the humans. We don't want someone, even a human, to use the self defense to get away with things. Some humans have tried."
"I don't think that's a problem." Edge assures Brandon. "We'll make sure to not try to play the system to get away with anything."
"If something does happen well have to put you on trial as if you were another human." Brandon sees the understanding from the monsters. "We will try to prevent attacks by saying that people can be charged for attacking." He continues on after that. "We also will be adding a part that says that monster refugees have the same rights as humans do. Including adopting. I have a feeling one of you will want to adopt her." He gestures to Frisk not sure if he has her name right in his head.
"Already planned to do so." Edge gives his confirmation to Brandon. He does notice the others look happy about being allowed adoption. He wonders if his friends plan to adopt a child. He knows Red is excited as they can take Frisk with them.
"Those are the big points you need to know. Pretty simple stuff."
"We understand darling." Mettaton floats closer to Brandon with a smile. "Thank you for taking the time to meet with us too."
"No problem. Just doing my job." Brandon clears his throat as Mettaton moves away. "Are you alright stepping in front of a camera, we'll send the video to news outlets to spread the word about the changes. If that is alright with you."
"I'm fine with it." Edge confirms as he wants to be able to give his family a nice life. He is willing to make sure the agreement is public.
The other monsters make sounds of confirmation that they'll do it.
"Follow me. We brought the camera in the van." Brandon leads them with Ms. Brown, who wants to make sure there's no trap, following.
Some bodyguards that were standing at the entrances move to follow as well.
Brandon gets them all to the van, and glances to the one working on the camera. "Is it ready?" He gets the thumbs up and gestured to where they should stand.
Once they have everything set to go, making sure to not show the location.
After all reporters would swarm this place and that just wouldn't be good. It'd bother the monsters and the humans that are in the orphanage right now.
Brandon stands tall as he explains to the camera the laws. He makes sure that even the no attacking is understood. He finishes with that and takes a step back. "The mountain will be off limits to prevent the escape of more violent monsters. Monsters these refugee monsters managed to escape from. These refugees really do mean us no harm." He turns so he faces the monsters. He made sure all of them can be seen along with Flowey who lets Red hold him. He needed the monsters so Frisk decided to hang back since she's a human, she doesn't want to confuse others about what species she is. "As a representative from the government I would like to welcome you refugees to our land. You will have the same rules to follow as the humans do. And face any consequences that us humans do if something does happen."
"We agree to that." Edge confirms and is the first to shake Brandon's hand. "Thank you for allowing us sanctuary among you humans."
"It's no problem." Brandon nods then shakes hands with all the monsters. He turns back to the camera. "Please be welcoming of the new citizens. They are not to be discriminated against as if they are humans. Thank you."
With that the taping of it ends.
Brandon turns back as Frisk heads over to the monsters. "Thank you so much for doing that." He pulls out a card and hands it to them. "Call this number of there is anything you need. Just in case something happens."
Edge takes it with a nod as Red gives Flowey back to Frisk. "And thank you for all you have done for us."
"It's no problem. Welcome to the surface." Brandon heads off, letting the monsters go to be able to go back to doing what they were doing.
Red comes up next to Edge and the two smile to each other. They link hands and smile to Frisk and Flowey as Frisk goes in front of them.
Frisk and Flowey are also smiling.
Edge kisses Reds skull making him blush a little and Frisk giggle at their cuteness.
It truly is a start to their life on the surface.
The end?
AN:
I wrote on my phone so hopefully I caught any autocorrects.
I haven't decided whether or not I'll continue things. My main plan was to try out this part with changes, from what I did with my wonderful friend.
I hope you enjoyed!
KitKat.
