Gabriel Agreste was so furious. The man looked at his son in the most disapproving way he could. "You can't just disappear, leaving me so worried..." He started.
"Now you actually worry about me? Is that so?" Adrien replied. The boy was standing in front of his bedroom, his arms folded.
"and you come back this late! It's completely unacceptable, Adrien!" Gabriel went on.
"You say you care, ha! You're not even listening to me!" He shouted.
"How you dare shouting at your father!" He continued.
"You shout at me all the fucking time!"
"Language, young man!"
"I'm not a little boy anymore, father! I'm twenty years old. Damn it!"
"Stop swearing and listen to me. Where did you go? Are you seeing some girl?"
"See? You don't even know a damn thing about me!" Adrien was getting more and more frustrated.
"Watch your mouth!" Gabriel slapped his son, who looked at him in fear. That couldn't happen again. Adrien slammed the door shut. He sat down on his bed, holding his head in frustration, pulling his own hair.
"ADRIEN, OPEN THE DOOR. NOW" His father bellowed. The young man sighed tremulously. He took his phone out, a hesitating finger lifted over its screen.
"It's two AM. He must be asleep by now. I can't just ask for... What? For help?" He said to himself. Plagg, his kwami floated to Adrien.
"Come on, Kid. Just do it"
"ADRIEN, OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR" (And he was calling me off because of swearing just a few moments ago. What an hypocrite) He thought, in anger.
"Call prince charming to the rescue, Adrien" The magic creature said. His holder blushed a high shade of red. "I-I don't know what you're talking about, Plagg" He spluttered.
"Yeah, whatever" The kwami answered.
"Shouldn't you be sleeping or something?" Adrien complaint, still flustered.
"Follow your heart, kid"
"My heart? Then I-I should call La-ladybug. My heart belongs to her?" When the words left his lips, what was meant to be a statement sounded weak instead, more like a question. What a lie.
"Ladybug? You don't even call her "my lady" anymore. Please don't try to make a living as a professional lier, kid. You couldn't buy a single ounce of Camembert, you'd die of starvation"
"Come on, Plagg, be serious. I-I only see Luka to get into my father's nerves" He was blushing again.
"YOU DISGRACE OF A SON, IF YOU DON'T OPEN THE DOOR..."
"and believe me, if you had a father like mine, you'd do anything to upset him" Adrien added, then he opened the huge window of his bedroom and started playing a noisy piano song in his computer. He was getting ready to run away.
"Adrien, you kissed him"
"To make father furious! And how-how on earth do you know that?! Adrien seized a pillow and hid his cherry red face.
"Your father was nowhere to be seen, besides, the door was closed..."
"Okay, okay, shut up already!" He threw the pillow trying to hit Plagg, who dodged it, laughing.
"And locked" Added the kwami, smirking.
"ADRIEN YOU SON OF A..." Gabriel was hammering on the door.
"I've had enough! Plagg, claws out!" The young superhero jumped out of the window, breathing heavily because of both anger and fear. If his father had opened the door somehow... The thought, and not the cold night air made Adrien tremble. Lost inside his mind, he ran over the parisian rooftops. Then he stopped, feeling cold and tired.
"Claws in" The kwami looked at him in expectation.
"What are you looking at, huh? I got something in my face?"
"No, kid. You know what you have to do now"
"Plagg..."
"I'll leave you alone if you need it" Adrien nodded
"Thank you"
"Don't mention it. Just stay out of danger, kid"
Adrien smiled at the tiny black cat.
"I will"
Plagg left his holder and he seized his phone once more. His heart beating faster, he started dialling that number from his contact list. The one he had learnt by heart.
"Hello?" Said his voice filled with hesitation.
"Hey, cutie, what's up?" Adrien could feel the butterflies inside his stomach.
"I'm so sorry it's so late. Everything, uh, everything's fine. Did I wake you up?"
"No. I was making a new song. Are you sure you're fine? You sound a bit down" Adrien sighed. Luka knew him so well.
"No, I'm not... I'm not fine. Not at all" His voice broke.
"What happened?" Luka sounded worried, even scared. He knew nothing about Adrien's abusive father.
"I just can't be home now. Can I go to your place?" Adrien needed protection, he forgot about how late it was and so did the boy on the other side of the line.
"Of course, where are you now? Do you need me to pick you up? Are you hurt?"
"I'm... Er, it's too dark. I can't figure out where it is"
"Couldn't you see in the darkness? Hold on, you got lost?!" Luka was loosing his mind because of worry.
"No, no. I see a street light. There, I'm sending you the address"
"You're not far. I'm coming" Adrien thanked the musician once more, then he hung the phone.
(What am I doing? This is not fine, I should love Ladybug just like I used to do before. She rejected me straightforward so many times... and then I met Luka. He is the nicest person I have ever met, he is a free spirit. I admire his freedom so much. His music is so calming, his smile is so perfect. Everything about him is just so cool, so awesome, so hot... Damn it! What am I thinking? Father would never approve it...) Adrien sat down and hugged his knees. (That's exactly what I need, right? I want to make father suffer because he makes me suffer. What a fucking mean person I became!) At that point, he started crying.
"Adrien? Is that you?" Even in the surrounding darkness, those golden locks were impossible not to spot.
The model lifted his head and saw the boy who held a lantern.
Yes, it's me" He said, looking into Luka's eyes. "What a relief" He started saying, but stopped.
"You are crying" Said the blue haired, kneeling down and throwing his arms around the poor boy.
"I just want to disappear" Adrien mourned, tears falling down his cheeks. Luka tightened the hug.
"And make my life meaningless?" The musician slowly got apart, to give him a tender smile. "You're gonna be okay" He promised.
"Now, let's go home. Come on, little sunshine" Luka held out his hand and Adrien grabbed it. They walked to the old boat without speaking. Once there, the two walked to the house owner's room.
"Thanks for letting me in this, er, this late" Adrien said, standing on a corner, as far from Luka as possible. He was a feelings mess.
"Don't mention it. Come here, I won't bite you" Adrien blushed to the thought of it, but he nodded and sat on the bed next to the blue haired boy. "Do you want to talk about what happened? If not, it's fine. You know I want you to feel free around me. I can you show this song I'm making..." Luka said, seizing his guitar.
"I think I need to tell you. Look, it will be quite of a shock... He started.
"It can't be..." Luka gasped and slapped his hand to his mouth, making a ridiculous amazed face. "Don't tell me you're gay, Adrien! For fuck's sake" He exclaimed, dramatically putting the back of his hand over his forehead. The model cackled, amused.
"You're such a dork, you know it, right?" He felt more relaxed.
"Sorry, I'm spending too much time with Chat Noir. You know what a lovely goofball he is" He winked at him. Adrien's face turned red.
"Besides, I felt you had something like this inside your heart" Luka played a chaotic tune on his guitar. "I wanted to help you calm down" Adrien just sighed.
"I...my father... How can I say this? We had a heated argument tonight" Luka was listening carefully.
"He, er, he was shouting a lot and I got so scared I shut the door of my room" Adrien went on.
"Scared? Why were you scared of your father, Adrien? Are you sensitive to shouting?" He shook his head.
"I-him... I-I don't know how to-to put it into words. I'm sorry" The boy had started crying again. Leaving his guitar aside, Luka wrapped him in his arms. "Hey, it's gonna be alright. I'm here with you. Let's take some deep breaths together, okay?" He comforted Adrien patiently, talking to him very softly.
"Feeling better, little sunshine?" Adrien nodded. He muttered a "yes"
"We can just change the topic, or go to bed already. It's getting really late and you need some sleeping" Luka suggested.
"No, I... I'm telling you. That's why I'm here, after all" Adrien sighed.
"I was scared of father because he slapped me... he hits me" The boy let it out. Luka's blue eyes opened widely.
"No... No, no, please tell me is a bad joke! Please, this-this can't be, Adrien!" Luka shook him by the shoulders. He was desperate. Then he saw the mark on his cheek, like an awful red stain.
"You don't know how much I wish it was just a bad joke" the model stated with teary eyes, his voice breaking.
"Shit!" Luka slammed his guitar on the wall, dropping it violently. He started to tremble. All his inner peace had left him.
"Hey, calm down, please! You're gonna get akumatized"
"Great, so I can kill that son of a..."
"I shouldn't have told you! I-I never meant to-to make you this mad. I'm sorry!" Adrien tried to stand up, but Luka held his arm, firmly but still gently.
"No, you have nothing to apologize for, cutie" The blue haired boy was deeply affected.
"How can your father hurt you? I mean, you're the kindest person I have ever met"
"Thank you, Luka. He... he doesn't see it, I guess"
"You're something so wonderful, so valuable, you're like a total angel" Adrien blushed a lot with those words.
"If I were him... I'd take so much care of you. I'd hug you every hour... On a daily basis" Adrien gave him a weak smile.
"I'd tell you what a great son you're, how proud you make me, I... I could never even think of doing you any harm" While saying the last line, the musician's voice started shaking.
"I wish he was like that, but he is just so cold, so cruel. He hits me more and more often and it hurts so bad. Why does he hate me this much?!" Adrien exclaimed, sobbing.
"I tried to be a good son, I-I tried to make him happy but is never enough"
Luka shook his head and pulled Adrien for a tight hug.
"You're so much more than enough to me, my little sunshine" He said passionately. "You know it, right?" The boy nodded.. Adrien relied his head on the crook of Luka's neck.
"I-I do" He said. They looked into each other's eyes, blue against green, until the blue haired tilted his head, closed his eyes and slowly approached his face to Adrien's, tenderly, carefully brushing his lips against his. The model kissed him back, pressing his lips hard with his and putting his arms around Luka's neck.
"So are we, you know, a thing now?" Adrien asked timidly when they ended the kiss. The musician nodded enthusiastically.
"Sure we are. That makes me your prince charming, your protector. Am I right?" Luke asked with another kiss.
"I-I think so. You truly are prince material, though" It was Luka's turn to blush. "Why my protector?"
"Well, because I'll protect you of course, because if your... if Gabriel dares to touch a single hair on your head, I'm going to beat him up" He said, his eyes a blue sky full of fire.
